O. Henry Short Stories Reviews
The classical works of O.Henry are all compiled into this book, O. Henry Short Stories. This book includes books almost everyone has heard before, such as The Gift of the Magi, and some not as well known stories, like A Newspaper Story. The antics of the characters amuse the readers, and it's a step into the past with the Victorian era references. When I started this book, some of the old-fashioned language was hard for me to understand. Sometimes, the extremely long words seemed to get in the way of the story. But, as I went on, it became easier to read, and the stories made me laugh. O. Henry created likable characters, and even if I couldn't relate to the characters that well, the way the story was told helped me understand each character's point of view. I also liked that the characters were easy to picture because of the precise descriptions O. Henry gave.I think that advanced readers would be able to make it through this book alright, but sometimes it can seem a little slow. I would recommend this to 8th grade-beyond and for people who have a very large vocabulary.
