Ever a Princess Reviews
An interesting look at the English class system. At a time when rich titled men took mistresses, what happened to them and their children is always interesting and this author's take on it is very intriguing. Also the female is in hiding and has taken on a role for which she is not suited and the class system is represented here too. The there's an American male who gets into the mix. The storyline moves along very well and the author's character development is quite good.
The best of the series, I am very sad there aren't anymore forthcoming! I did find this just a bit jarring with the late 1800's theme compared to the previous books in the series but very good story, couldn't put it down. Heroine is a feisty entitled princess on the run, she is used to every privilege but despite that doesn't behave like a spoiled annoying thing like so many books portray the heroine. We see a bit of the Marquis of Templeton toward the end and it ties into the rest of the series a bit loosely but plausible.
I fel like I had read better versions of this story before, but delightful read nonetheless.
From the first page till the last this book was wonderful!!! I absolutely loved the characters of Adam, Giana, Max and Murphy!!! The writer brought the characters to life in the book, it's like I was watching a movie!!! You have intrigue, murder, laughter, passion and then love all wrapped up in a sinfully delicious book!!! Giana is running for her life after her parents are assassinated by her cousin Victor who not only wants the crown and ore rights but wants her dead or alive!!! She ends up hiding at a hunting lodge in Scotland and in walks Adam an American who won the property in a poker game!!! You will love this book!!!
Unfortunately this wasn’t a story I enjoyed very much. I didn’t connect very well with the hero and heroine. Yes, I realize this is a historical romance so there’s not much I could possible connect to but neither the hero or heroine really grabbed me. I wasn’t drawn in to the story very much. I enjoyed the concept, displayed princess trying to hide in the wilds of Scotland finds the love of her life but I didn’t see too many redeeming qualities in either of them. I’d like to try something else from this author because it could have been just this book I didn’t enjoy.
I couldn't finish this one. The whole premise just didn't work for me. I kept trying to like it, but after a dozen pages I would get distracted by something and not want to pick it back up. It never grabbed me and pulled me in. That's what I get for not reading a synopsis beforehand. I would not have even picked it up the first time if I had realized what the story was about. Just not my cup of tea.
