Prince Among Ponies (Seagull Lib.) Reviews
On 5th December 2010, me and a friend went to the Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies open day - http://www.swhp.co.uk/ There was a bookstall, and we were pathetically excited to find a lot of old childhood favourites - this included. The story follows Patrick and Sara, who want nothing more to continue riding lessons at their local school, but their parents have other ideas. When they go on holiday with some family friends, they are thrilled to find ponies there too, although Jane and her siblings are only interested in hunting, going fast and jumping. But they have one pony, Adonis, that is never ridden - a bit of a rogue that can't be handled. Patrick and Sara take him on, with the usual happy ending!Yes, there is so much to criticise, but I don't really care. I loved the characters and the situation. I loved the fact the the author was trying to make children take schooling and training seriously, and that always galloping around can have sad consequences. I love the sappy happy ending. In fact I really loved this trip down memory lane.
