Le Mariage Forcé Reviews
Русское название - "Брак поневоле".
(I read it in French, but I'm going to review it in English, since that's the main language here.)I decided to read this lesser-known work of Molière's because I absolutely love Lully's music to it. It's not a mind-blowing comedy-ballet, but a very enjoyable one. The plot was quite surprising to me - when you read about a forced marriage you assume the woman's forced into it, but in this instance it's the man (Sganarelle) that's coerced. Along the way Sganarelle talks to several kinds of philosophers to ask for advice concerning his impending mariage. Molière takes this opportunity to mercilessly mock the reigning philosophies of his day. Especially the part where Sganarelle turns the tables on the philosopher and uses his own philosophies against him is hilarious.
Sganarelle decide casarse a los 52 años con una jovencita. Después de ser un solterón empedernido se ha enamorado y tras dar su palabra se dispone a dar el gran paso, contra la recomendación de amigos y conocidos.
