Wow! so much going on in this Shifter novel, but I loved it! Is had the right balance of an alpha trying to claim his mate while trying to keep control over his pack.I absolutely enjoyed every second of this novel and have found a new author to binge-read!

Review by: Jennifer(3 stars)Keeley and her sister, Dani, are on the run and have landed in a small town in hopes that they can stay there hidden from the man that is hunting them. When Kalkin and his brothers introduce themselves to the sisters, it becomes clear that they are running from something and both are unwilling to share any information. When Kal realizes that Keeley is his mate, he just hopes that he can get her to open up and trust him; after all, he has his secrets too. When the man hunting the sisters shows up, can Kal keep them safe?OK, so I'm not sure how I went from thinking this book was boring to there is too much going on, but I did. With this being the first of the series, the author introduced a lot of characters and while I understand that, I can honestly say that Keeley and Dani were completely interchangeable for me, I couldn't keep them straight for half the book. This was just an ok read, so I'm gonna give this 3 stars.

Keeley Blueriver and her sister are running from very dangerous people. Hopefully this small town will be safe for the battered and bruised pair for a while at least. Both women have a little something special, that is the reason they are in danger. Sheriff Kalkin Rafferty , Alpha of Apache Falls wolf pack knows as soon as he sees the two women moving in that there is something different about them. Will they bring trouble to his town or pack?. This is not the best time of year for strangers to be in town. Both our lead characters have had difficult lives, that has caused them to be extremely protective of their families. Where our heroine normally hits the road when trouble finds them, our hero will stand and fight. That makes for some explosive encounters. An all action paranormal romance , with a lot of great characters that I know we will see more of. An emotional and exciting story that you won't be able to put down. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

What a nice surprise. I love Paranormal books and this one was a nice surprise.Keeley and her sister Danielle have been moving around for a while now and when they landed in Window Rock Arizona they both felt like they are home. But they knew that trouble wasn't far behind.Kalkin Raferty is the Alpha of the Raferty Pack and his job as the sheriff and as the alpha is to protect his family and his town. He has all but given up hope of finding his mate but when he met Keeley he knew she was his mate and he would do anything to protect his mate. But he never knew what Keeley and her sister were hiding.I loved loved this story, it was filled with drama, action, love and some steamy hot sex. Kalkin was hot sexy and totally an Alpha. Keeley truly fitted him perfectly, she was strong, bold, sassy and a protector.I need the next book like seriously NOW!!!

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was really interesting and intriguing. I loved the cross stories coming through which I am sure is the set-up for the upcoming books in the series. I enjoyed the sisters and the differences in their abilities and the closeness they had. Same with the shifter brothers. I loved the characters and found them to be engaging and quite developed and some of them quite complex. As for the lead characters, I'll start with Kalkin and Keeley, since I think that even though they may not be the leads, they are so closely in second place that Caden and Danielle should be placed in this section with the leads. As for Kalkin, he is a big time alpha male, but then he is also Alpha of his wolf pack, sheriff of the county he lives in, twin to Caden and sinfully hot! Keeley is beautiful, smart, younger sister to Danielle and has powers. She is more powerful that anyone knows and that is the way that she likes it. She is the mate to Kalkin, only she doesn't know it and because of the past that she and her sister have had, including most recently, she does not trust anyone other than her sister. But she does feel the strong pull toward Kalkin, is confused about it and does everything in her power to push him away. HA..not that Kalkin will allow that. But the sisters have secrets and until he knows what is going on, he will not be able to protect them and it takes a while before the sisters finally give the answers that he needs, only their past has come to threaten their lives again and spills lies that will throw a barrier between Caden and Danielle. Trust is not easy for either of those two. Now, what I had a problem with....Keeley. Not right off, no I loved her until about halfway through the book and more so toward the end of the book. That girl almost got on my last nerve. I am aware of her age, naivete and the reason for her fear and trust issues, but come on. She and her sister have been on the run and hiding for so long that she should have had a bit more strength and backbone. But that was just my feelings when reading it. My opinion. But I really did get into this story and (like Kalkin wanted to beat his brother's butt), and cannot wait to read the next book as there are many unanswered questions, side characters that you get to know and really like and want to know more about. And there's the Caden/Danielle problem that needs to be settled. I found this book really enjoyable and really do recommend this read to anyone who loves shifter reads.

This was a good read.I always enjoy a paranormal romance.Keeley and Danielle have been on the run for a long-time from an employee of a government facility who likes to test humans with psychic abilities. They end up in a small town in the middle of the desert, hoping to find a place to settle down for awhile.Always knowing in the back of their mind though that they will never be safe. What they didn't expect when they moved into their home, was for their neighbors to be wolf shifters, police officers, as well as their mates.Keeley is stand-offish from the beginning, while Danielle is friendly. When the threat to their lives finds them once again, Keeley and Danielle have to put their trust in their mates so they can end this once and for all. This story is told in Dual/Multiple POV.Although, this story is about the romance between Kalkin and Keeley, I don't really understand why we needed to see from Danielle's POV.I did like getting the story from both a male and female point of view.It helped to understand a little bit more of what was going on.I wasn't a big fan of Keeley's character. She seemed a bit wishy-washy in her emotions.I'm sure some of this hard to be due to what she has encountered, but how she was portrayed didn't seem real to me.There also seemed to be some inconsistencies within the book. When Danielle is healing the young puppy, Aiden, she realizes he is a shifter and conveys as much to her sister. However, when Keeley sees Aiden shift for the first time, she is shocked.Another example is that Keeley describes her sister has outgoing, an extrovert. But later says that she is a shell of herself. Pulling in and not letting people close.I would recommend this book, but I don't think I will continue on with this series. It didn't quite catch my interest like I had hoped it would.

OMG!!!! That’s just the tip of the iceberg on this book. Keeley and her sister Dani are on the run from a violent and abusive situation. They move state to state when the situation catches them, they end sporting broken bones and bruises. Finally landing in the small town Window Rock Arizona they think they can get a reprieve and chance to heal from the last beating. Keeley and Dani have sworn off men then their busybody neighbors show up demanding to help them move in.The Raferty boys are interested in the people moving in across the bridge. Being the town sheriff, Kalkin, and his brothers and nephew, his deputies, go in and investigate. Also being the pack Alpha he has to assess the threat to his pack, what he doesn’t expect to find is two human women sporting bruises and walking gingerly. Kalkin knows right away that Keeley is his mate, but he has to get to the bottom of why she showed up in his little town. All is not what it seems with Keeley and Dani.Keeley and her sister have psychic powers making them sought after for their abilities Dani more so than Keeley. But even being the younger sister, Keeley takes charge for her and Dani’s safety. She won’t trust the Raferty men even though she feels a strong pull towards Kalkin because of the last man she let into their live’s. With danger stalking the sisters at every turn can they depend on the Raferty men? Kalkin can’t help them until he knows all of the facts and that leads to the secrets they were trying to keep from him. Will Kalkin be able to keep his mate safe and the whole town? I was a little confused with some of the aspects of this story and with the subsequent books it will hopefully be ironed out. I was kind of on information overload with all of the plot twists, but overall an excellent debut. This was the first in the series and it laid the stage for Dani and Caden’s book. Caden being Kalkin’s twin and Dani being his mate. When the first book ends they aren’t even speaking to each other because of the brick wall that is thrown up between the two after Caden’s misconceptions of Dani and her previous “relationship”. I can’t wait for book 2!!** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review **

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:A STUNNING new book in what I think will be a TERRIFIC new series from TL Reeve AND Michele Ryan! This paranormal romance was exciting, with a sexy, decadent shifter and strong and extremely feisty (loved that about her) heroine. There is delightfully witty banter, a great storyline that was full of danger and adventure and kept me on my toes and just an all around great read!I have enjoyed all of Miss Reeve's stories in the past, so when I had the opportunity to read this new one, I couldn't wait! Yet, amazingly enough, Miss Reeve outdid herself, in my humble opinion with this new series. Now Michele Ryan is a fairly new to me author but co-writing this with Miss Reeves has now officially put her in my sights and I am going to be checking her out in the VERY near future. I fell good and hard with Kalkin. Sexy, dominant, caring, and protective he had my heart melting and had me wishing he was real. I found him to be swoon worthy and definitely lick and drool worthy. Keeley is a very strong heroine. She is bold, outspoken, tough as nails, yet there was just something about her I really liked. She seemed abrasive at first but I still liked her. This story was plenty action packed and full of surprises and has me significantly excited for the next book! I am so HOOKED! Kalkin gets a SERIOUSLY ADDICTING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! I am SO LOVING this new series and can't wait for book 2!

Kalkin is book 1 of TL Reeves and Michele Ryan's new series Apache County Shifters. The characters are amazing. They reach out and grab you making you cheer, cry, angered, hate, adore and love them. Kalkin is the Alpha wolf and the county sheriff all roled into one sexy, intelligent, powerful, loyal, mouth watering tall drink of water. His brothers are as equally gifted. Keeley and Danielle are gifted sisters that are on the run and hiding in plain sight. The women come into Kalkin's life and turn it completely upsidedown. There are some scenes that my be difficult for some readers that have issues with assault against women. (There is no actual sexual assault) This series is sure to become a favorite for paranormal romance readers. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book and the series as a whole. I received an ARC from the publisher. This is my voluntary honest review.

“You’re the love of my life. My happy ending. My heart. I love you.”This is a very good read...engaging, well written, scorchingly steamy, and action packed. Kalkin and Keeley are a great couple and their dialogue is a great combination of wit, heartbreak, passion and love. The minor characters each have a story to tell and I foresee a great series ahead in Apache County Shifters. I’m delighted to have found a new author and thank her for a complimentary copy of this book. I will most definitely be reading other books as they become available, and will look back at her varied works for more TBR.

OH my this is a very powerful start to a shifter series. I am dying to read the next book in this series.Kalkin oh my he by far my favorite of the Raferty brothers so far. SExy, dominant, protective, smart, sassy, what else could you want in the hero of the story. At first I wasnt a big fan of Keeley, I liked her sister more but she grew on me with her attitude and how her personality combatted Kalkin at every turn was awesome. They both constantly are fighting their urge to be mates, and how much they want eachother even though everyone around them knows and laughs about it.Cadin is Kalkins twin brother and his mate is Keeleys sister Danielle. But circumstances and cadins bad attitude gets in the way of their relationship.Cadin is definitely on my hit list, he causes Danielle so much pain and misery it makes you want to cry and beat the crap out of him just reading it. Keeley and Danielle are on the run from a psycho who tortured them and experimented on them because they have powers. Both girls are powerful beyond belief especially when they are together and team up.But their trust in the boys and in anyone that wont betray them is on a thin shred after being chased for so long. This is a sexy must readIf I could give this book 10 stars I would.

Kalkin is the first book in a new series and it is a good start. There are many likable characters that you will want to know more about. The small town shifter setting is intriguing too. However, if you are looking for and older male/younger female story as touted in the books overview this is not it. The age is only a mention in the story.I personally like more dialog than narrative even if it is first person so, I would have like to seen more of that and it could use a bit more polish (to many errors). But, it is good enough that I would consider reading the next in the series. Oh, I love the cover.Happy Reading:)I voluntarily received an ARC of Kalkin and this is my honest review.

Kalkin is a fast paced, suspenseful PNR that will keep you flipping pages. Keeley and her sister Dani are gifted humans on the run who find themselves moving in across the street from an alpha wolf shifter (Kalkin) and his extended family. Kalkin has given up on finding his mate and is flabbergasted at finding that the new girl in town (Keeley) is his mate but she comes with baggage that may just kill them all. I can’t wait to see how Calder digs himself out of the hole he has created with Dani.

There are times when Keeley freaks out that it's funny, "...I’m talking to a wolf. To you. Like this is no big deal. It should be a big deal. You’re a wolf and I’m a gifted person. We’re out in the middle of nowhere and… are you… naked? Lord have mercy, you are, aren’t you?" Kal loves to tell his saucy woman where to stick it at times, “I would rather be enjoying you if you ever shut up for longer than five effing minutes,” he growled at her." I liked this book, and I'm all excited for the next one.

Frustrating **** Spoilers ****I was really excited to read this book after it had been recommended on a forum I frequent. Sadly, I couldn't wait to finish and almost DNF'd it. I rated it two stars because I did finish it and there were a couple of positives. What I Liked:The villains were part of a government organization called Psychic Bounty Hunters. I found this concept to be both creative and intriguing though it wasn't explored as deeply as I would have liked.I also somewhat liked the H, Kalkin, though there were moments when he was OTT and others where his dialogue and actions made his character seem much younger than the modelon the cover. We don't actually know his age or any of the character's ages because they aren't provided though he mentions toward the end that he gave up trying to find his mate when he was getting close to 40.What I Didn't LikeThere was no consistency with the characters. In the beginning both Danielle and Caden, the sister of the h and brother of the H, were more open and trusting. Caden even brought a shifter pup to Danielle for healing and mentioned her keeping him ( at the time she didn't realize he wasn't just a puppy which is a whole other level of WTF since giving an unsuspecting person you don't know a shifter baby just seems ridiculous). Then the villian tells the H he is looking for his pregnant wife, Danielle and suddenly Caden doesn't trust Danielle anymore. Huh???? Just one of many contrivances to add conflict. In regards to contrivances, as mentioned above it felt like there was a lot. The biggest was regarding the villian(s). The sisters are talking in the beginning of the book and it is all about Simon. The sheriff, the H, investigates and finds out about Simon. Other than some accomplices, he was set up as the big bad. Then it is mentioned that he is human. Well our h had already told us via the thoughts in her head that people were scared of her because she could kill with her psychic ability. If you are like me you are wondering at this point why she is so scared of Simon. Also, why is she planning on killing him with a gun. Suddenly, in the last third of the book there is a bigger bad, Hazel, who had stronger pyschic abilities. Why were they so focused on Simon then? Yes, he was a sadistic jerk who betrayed them but he didn't have any power. It just didn't make sense that the h and her sister were focused on Simon instead of Hazel. There were many less significant examples of characters motivations, actions and dialogue that felt disingenuous but it would take me too long to list them all.I'm usually a sucker for this trope but in my opinion the execution was lacking.

I requested and received and ARC of this book. I am reviewing of my own volition. One of the things I like most about shifter books is seeing how each author interprets shifters and the rules of the world. In this one we have a world where shifters are 'out' but those with other abilities are hunted and tested on. Regardless of whether they are human or shifter.Keeley and Danielle have abilities and have mostly managed to stay off the Paranormal Bounty Hunter's radar. That is until Simon caught up with them. He has abused and tortured them all in the name of learning how it all works. They run and he keeps finding them each time getting away is harder.Kal is sheriff and the Alpha of the Raferty pack in Window Rock. He protects his pack and his town. So when Keeley and Danielle show up unannounced he is more than a little suspicious, and quite surprised when he feels the mate pull.Quite a bit of violence in this one as well as those looking to prevent it. Caden brings a severely injured pup to Danielle and that's when she reveals her healing abilities. She also learns they are shifters.Kal and Keeley are mates but even though she can't seem to stay away from him she has an overpowering need to protect her sister with no regard for herself.Chilling revelations and so much more as we meet this. The relationships between Kal and Keeley and Caden and Danielle certainly have plenty of ups and downs. There are so many characters I fell in love with and I can't wait to read more of them.I laughed, cried and scratched my head a few times at the stubbornness. All in all a fast paced, sexy, suspenseful and down right spellbinding read!

Kalkin is the first book in authors TL Reeve and Michele Ryan’s series Apache County Shifters. There are the Raferty brothers, a nephew, and possibly other characters that these ladies can write this series on, but we start with the sexy and dominant Alpha of the bunch, Kalkin Raferty. He’s the Alpha of his pack, a wolf shifter, and the sheriff in town. One day, across the creek from his property, two blonde sisters move in. Keeley and Danielle Blueriver, and from the looks of their bruises, he knows something is up.Dani and Keeley are on the run from Simon, a man who hurt the two of them because they are something more than human. And despite her attraction to the big sexy sheriff, Keeley has made a vow along with her sister to stay away from everyone, especially men, to protect themselves. But it’s not too long before Caleb is calling on Dani for help, and Kalkin soon follows. Kalkin wants Keeley for his mate, but can he protect her from the evil coming their way? This was an enjoyable series starter, and I learned a whole new way of wolf mating. (see knots.) My only little gripe, and I have it for a lot of shifter books, is the need to get every mated female pregnant right off the bat. Doesn’t anyone use protection anymore?

Amount of sex 3 / 5How explicit 3 / 5Story 4 / 5Overall: 4 / 5Keeley and Danielle Blueriver are sisters with unique abilities. They have been on the run for years, trying to get away from a group that wants to experiment on them. They settle into a small town in Window Rock, Arizona to hide. Kalkin is the local sheriff as well as the Alpha of the wolf pack in Apache County. Keeley and Danielle don’t realize that they move onto the pack’s land. Kalkin goes over to introduce himself and help them move in. He soon recognizes that Keeley is his mate. Can Kalkin keep Keeley and her sister safe?I always love reading stories with a strong alpha male and Kalkin is a delicious one! I also enjoyed Keeley and Danielle’s special abilities, which made the book even more captivating. This book centers on Kalkin and Keeley’s romance, but there was a lot of subplots within. I was so frustrated with Kalkin’s twin, Caden, and his issues. He tells Kalkin that Danielle is his mate, but then a whole lot happens, and the book ends without their HEA. I assume book two will be Caden and Danielle’s story.Looking forward to finding out what happens next.*Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Copy*

This was one hell of a start to a new series. I loved it. Okay I truly hope this is the start of a new series! We meet Kalkin, Caden, Jace, Bodhi, Lorraine, Mrs. Martin, and others. This book is set on the Navajo Nation Reservation in the Window Rock area of Arizona. So this book hit home for me. I could picture what I ead about Window Rock and the surrounding area and the talk of the border with New Mexico so well. There was a very interesting aspect to us with the introduction of Danielle and Keeley. There was enough action and angst, intertwined with sex and romance and love that it really made a good balance for me with this book. I look forward to the next book in this series when it comes! There are some definite twists in this book and they worked well together. I really wanna know what is going on with Caden in the next one! I was super excited to read this book. I love paranormal shifter books. There is wit, humor, good characters, and a plot that will keep you guessing. Keely and her sister Dani are on the run from the bad guys. They've set up their new home right in the middle of a shifter pack. Keely wants to lay low and not draw attention to themselves. That's hard to do when the sheriff lives right next door. No matter what they need to keep their abilities a secret. The local Sheriff is the Alpha of the pack and one whiff of Keely, Kalkin knows she is his fated mate. He has to get her to do the full moon run with him, so he can claim her. Does she want to be claimed by him? Or by anyone? And what about this Simon guy who is looking for them? I liked the book, there were parts that were boring and there are a lot of characters introduced in this story - obviously for more books in the series. I didn't really like Keely or Dani. Dani was to trusting after everything that happened. Keely just seemed off - like a bad cheese that ruins everything. It was a good story, there were some grammatical errors, but nothing that took away from the story. Will I read book #2? Doubtful.

I think this book had so much promise. I liked the idea of the storyline and that was the only reason I finished the book. It was chaotic and kinda all over the place. There was barely any interaction between the main characters for the first 30% of the book. I had to read the book description to make sure I was following the right characters. I'm hoping the second book will be more streamline because despite the chaos there is promise in the series.

Shifters, psychics, Romance suspenseThis book has it all. Dani and Keeley are running from people who want to keep them and abuse them because they are psychics. They move to a town unaware it's shifter pack lands. Keeley has put up walls around her self but ends up mated to the Alpha Kalkin. The group hunting Dani and Keeley show up in their town and Malkin have to convince Keeley not to run away and that he can protect them. The characters are well developed and the plot is great and different. I laughed, cried and couldn't wait to see how it all ends up. I highly recommend this book.

The first in a new series, Kalkin is a busy book, but each detail adds to the world the author created. Kalkin, local sheriff and Alpha of the werewolf pack, is shocked to discover that the new arrival to town, Danielle, is his mate. Danielle arrives with her sister, and they immediately begin to shake things up. They have secrets, but so do Kalkin and his brothers. I found it really easy to get lost in Kalkin. I had to slow myself down a few times, making sure I didn't miss anything. I found Kalkin to be well developed, and written beautifully. There was some slight confusion at times, when there was a lot going on. I still found myself unable to put it down. Lots of tensions were built, and I'm very excited to see what comes next in the Apache County Shifters series. *Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads*

Well it looks like I'm in the minority with this one. I thought the H was a jerk. Alpha is one thing but spanking as a punishment is not my thing. Multiple times it is talked about how is going to punish her, how it hurts to sit the next day, how she her bottom can't take another spanking, ugh. Not my thing. Aside from that he was a jerk. He did and said some sweet things but ugh. I most likely will not read any more. Maybe I'm too sensitive 😊

AmaxingI absolutely loved this story! I was invested from the first chapter. Kalkin is alpha of his pack and when Keeley comes to town he knows he's finally met his mate. All the characters are great and I love Keeley's sister and how strong both sisters are. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars
