“We have to allow ourselves to be loved by the people who really love us, the people who really matter. Too much of the time, we are blinded by our own pursuits of people to love us, people that don't even matter, while all that time we waste and the people who do love us have to stand on the sidewalk and watch us beg in the streets! It's time to put an end to this. It's time for us to let ourselves be loved.”----C. JoyBell CIsha Inamdar, an Indian writer, has penned her debut contemporary romance story called, True Liars that revolves around the life of a young and aspiring female deejay artist caught between the worlds of her best gay friend and that friend's brother interspersed with wedding vows, typical big-fat Indian wedding, lies, friendships, love and passion in a serene landscape of a small heritage town in Jodhpur. This novel is perfect for the fans of Colleen Hoover, Sylvia Day, Jojo Moyes.Synopsis: Aspiring deejay NJ – Anjana – lives in Mumbai with her best friend Harsh and his boyfriend Sam. When Harsh has to go to Phalodi, his hometown in Rajasthan, for his sister’s wedding, he convinces NJ to tag along, posing as his girlfriend to avoid being set up with any potential brides. At the wedding, though, she meets Rudra, Harsh’s elder brother, and the two are powerfully attracted to each other. One thing leads to another and they kiss, only to break away bitterly. But NJ will not let Harsh’s secret out.Wedding, vows, secrets, lies – of course, things get complicated. When Rudra visits Mumbai soon after, he finds that NJ is missing and no one knows where she is. Where could she have gone? Why are there rumors that she is dead? Will Rudra move on from the guilt and sadness that envelop him, or will he uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance?A big fat desi romance for those who stir a little darkness into their love potions. Anjana, a.k.a, NJ, is a deejay artist, who lives with her best gay friend, Harsh and his boyfriend, Sam in Mumbai. Harsh and NJ are the best of buddies, they found each other, they support each other and they love and respect one another, and not to mention, since Harsh saved NJ when she was running low on money and seeing an end to her aspiring career, NJ would do anything for Harsh, even if it means lying to the whole world as well as to Harsh's family about his sexuality. So when Harsh's baby sis, Kavya gets married at their hometown in Rajasthan, Harsh asks NJ to act as his girlfriend, so that his family does not get a hint about his sexual identity and NJ accepts his offer immediately. But as they arrive at their hometown, NJ instantly falls head-over-heels in love at first sight with Harsh's elder brother, Rudra, a brooding and heart-broken man with a equally painful past. And surprisingly, Rudra too feels the same for her, but since NJ is his brother's girlfriend, he could make any move, but a kiss between them, fills Rudra's mind with doubts about Anjana's true intentions. And when Rudra visits his brother Harsh's apartment at Mumbai, he finds out that NJ is missing. Can he ever find his true lady love? Will NJ ever let out the secret about Harsh's sexuality, even if it means sacrificing the love of her life?A mushy, cliched and swooning love story about true love not only between lovers, but also between two friends, a brother and a sister and two brothers. The author has poured out all her best emotions while penning this beautifully depicted love story with many layers. The story explores so many boundaries about love in our country set against the backdrop of Mumbai and mainly Rajasthan. A fascinatingly concocted contemporary romance that is deep with passion and raw emotions which is bound to make the readers move deeply and feel with their hearts and souls. Also not to mention, the book's cover design is so apt with the title as well as with the story line, it has a subtle underlying meaning with the title of the novel. The author's writing style is extremely eloquent and is laced evocatively that will let the readers contemplate the story line easily. The narrative is equally engaging, sensitive and realistic to the very core, and often sentimental, but that emotional roller coaster ride is very much present in this book, that makes it one hell of a stirring love story. The pacing is really fast, even though the author has delved enough details about the plot as well as about her characters, yet there is a slight mystery, that will keep the readers on their edges till the very end. Also not to mention, each and every scene from this book, especially, the romantic ones are penned with enough passion to make the readers feel that emotion vividly. While reading this book, I could feel the instant sparks flying between NJ and Rudra strikingly and made me feel the rush of falling in love. The characters are well etched out and are well developed, complete with their flaws and strengths that give a realistic demeanor. The main character, Anjana, is a sweet and honest young woman, who knows what she wants in her life, be it her career or her emotional needs, she is headstrong yet traditional enough to know about her values. And I bet small town girls can easily relate to her and her struggles in a big city. The next primary character, Rudra, is a ruminating, thoughtful and handsome man with a broken heart, whose back story is explored beautifully and the readers will feel like they know him by the back of their hands. Rudra and Anjana's struggle with love and trust is depicted with sensitivity and thoughtfulness, thereby making it look believable in the yes of the readers. In a nutshell, this is an absorbing and extremely entertaining love story filled with friendship drama, sexuality, self-identity, regrets, trust issues with a dash of mystery. Verdict:A perfect and an uplifting book to curl up with when you're feeling gloomy. Courtesy:Thanks to the author, Isha Inamdar, for giving me an opportunity to read and review this book.

For more bookish updates follow: hjbookblogTrue Liars, the debut novel of Isha Inamdar is indeed a fat desi romance with a dash of mystery and thrill in it. The story revolves around Anjana a.k.a NJ an aspiring deejay who lives in Mumbai with her best friend Harsh and his boyfriend Sam. When Harsh had to go home to Phaloudi to attend his sister’s wedding he asks NJ to tag along as his girlfriend to hide his sexuality and to avoid marriage proposals. This simple plan gets complicated when NJ starts falling for Harsh’s elder brother Rudra. But she was not to let the secret out. Then one thing after another and NJ goes missing. The story was packed with mushy clichéd romance and drama. (I dig those!) The passion and emotion were so intense yet put so simply. I must say author Isha Inamdar does romance very well. She also did a very commendable job in painting the characters. They were relatable and one can just easily picturise each one of them. I myself drooled over Rudra and felt that I absolutely knew cute and cool Harsh. Also she created the perfect setting every time. And even though Inamdar goes into such details, the story has been kept fast paced. I finished it in two sitting. The love story of NJ and Rudra was really one hell of a ride and I got obsessed with them as the story went on. With the plot of forbidden love and a hint of mystery the author keeps you hooked throughout. But I must say that clearly the full potential of the book has not been realised. The plot development seemed weak. She is no doubt very good with words and sentences and descriptions but it suffered in putting it all together, making the writing monotonous and repetitive at times. I loved the book otherwise. It is definitely a light weekend read. Also, the ending has been kept open ended and I wonder if we should be prepared for a sequel.

"She wasn't true, but was her love a lie."True Liars is the debut book by author Isha Inamdar. The book was published on 10 May 2017 by Harlequin India and is available in paperback as well as in Kindle Format at the online and offline bookstores. The cover page of the book is very attractive having an image of a girl with a flying blindfold. The colours used in the cover are very apt such as red, gold and black, making it very catchy to the eyes. The book revolves around aspiring deejay NJ - Anjana who lives in Mumbai with her best friend Harsh and his boyfriend Sam. When Harsh has to go to Phalodi, his hometown in Rajasthan, for his sister’s wedding, he convinces NJ to tag along, posing as his girlfriend to avoid being set up with any potential brides. At the wedding, though, she meets Rudra, Harsh's elder brother, and the two are powerfully attracted to each other. One thing leads to another and they kiss, only to break away bitterly. But NJ will not let Harsh's secret out. So, what happens will NJ and Rudra be together? The story is written in a very simple and in a very beautiful manner. The language is easy to understand and is like flowing. The author has an awesome command over the language. The narration of the story is in third person which makes the story very realistic. A reader can easily visualize and connect to various instances. The characters of the story are very well developed and all of them have a past or a mystery. The relation between the siblings is nicely shown. The portrayal of the emotions is marvelous making the reader feel them deeply. The leap is shown very well in the story. The story line is fast paced making the reader stick to it till the end. The title is very unusual but is totally justified. Overall, an amazing and a passionate love story having elements of love, trust and friendship.I would highly recommend this book to those who really want to read a desi love story.*Got a copy of the book from the author.

A beautifully Woven Tale of RelationshipsI picked up this book due to its unusual title and the author being from Vasai! The summary of the book revealed it's a coming of age story. This book is the story about Anjana (NJ), Rudra, Harsh, Kaavya and Sam. I would call it a simple yet beautiful love story. The book focuses on various relationships. The book starts with a catchy first chapter making you curious on what happened to protagonist. Then it takes you 15 days back and a place in Rajasthan called Phalaudi which is a semi rural area. Then coming back to the present. Going to future in Ibiza and ending in Phalaudi. The book is a medium paced book with every character developed beautifully and having their own traits. Descriptions in the book are very intricate with you being able to visualise the authors perspective.Authors command over the language is just awesome. Emotions and Feelings of every character is depicted beautifully which is the main USP of the book. I won't be surprised if someday this book is turned into a movie. Ending of the book is kept open ended leaving the readers to their imagination or maybe paving a way for a sequel.A beautifully woven story.

True Liars tells us the story of Anjana a.k.a. NJ who comes to the city of Mumbai to fulfill her dream of being a professionally successful deejay. An ambitious yet grounded NJ is shown as a confident, moral woman who struggles initially, trying to fit in the city. Harsh her best friend and his live-in partner Sam who go out of their way to help her settle in the city and she eventually ends up being their roommate. When comes the time to attend his sister’s wedding, at his native place Phalodi, Harsh asks NJ to pose as his girlfriend, to ward off unwanted marriage proposals that might come his way during the stay.In Phalodi, walks in Rudra, Harsh’s elder brother, a charming man with a bitter past, only to stir unknown desires and feelings in her heart. Confused and cautious, both NJ and Rudra try to fight off the immense sexual tension between them, keeping Harsh in the back of their minds. The inevitable happens and they kiss, leading into a huge fight and a series of misunderstandings. After the whole fiasco NJ goes missing. A truck load of questions pop up, which are answered by the end of the novel. The language and writing style are clear, fluent and engaging, the plot, a mills and boons kind of passionate romance with a dollop of thriller. The ‘will they won’t they’ build up in the story is nail biting for the reader. Isha has taken care to intricately explain Rajasthani customs which are used as a backdrop in her descriptive writing. The aim to draw out the bond between siblings and the handling of the same sex relationship , devoid of stereotypes and cliché is worth applauding. The depiction of feelings does get repetitive at some places, also those endless pages filled with mushy romance and sexual fantasies can be an overdose for some readers. All in all a light, simple romantic read with a whirlwind of emotions.Read more at https://bookwormreadsnreviews.wordpre...

This one is the best desi romance novel with beautifully described Rajasthani Culture. The way author described each and every aspect of Marvadi marriage, from small little things of every rasam to wedding outfit. Everything is just beautifully described. The story revolves around N.J aka Anjana who is Deejay in Mumbai goes with Harsh at his place Phalodi in Rajasthan. Helping her best friend, she pretended to be his girlfriend where she falls in love with his brother. Will she express her love? will family know she's not harsh's girlfriend? how will the cards turn? There are so many surprising elements with a special touch of Marwadi language, as well as emotions. The plot is clean and smooth. It's like picturing the situations there itself. The book interests reader with the description of every character. The book shows how well Anjana bonds with everyone, how her life change after visiting Phalodi. The language is simple and the story is very connecting. How a single misunderstanding can change the whole life. The best part I liked was about the bond between kaavya and her brothers. How Rudra and Kaavya have been so close to each other and Kaavya's marriage was happening and he was controlling himself as kaavya was going away from him. The bond that siblings shared was something I loved most. The description of Phalodi and Kaavya's wedding is used as a backdrop by the author which is beautifully written. The story is like complete Hindi movie with entertainment, twists, love, friendship, and Family. It's a light read with so many suspense and twists. How one lie can ruin so many lives, how one sentence can change a life of the person is what makes the book interesting.Overall it's a light, bitter-sweet story and a Good read to all those who love fiction and romance.

Read full review @ https://ecstaticyetchaotic.wordpress....Harsh and Anjana aka NJ are best buddies. They share the same apartment along with Harsh’s boyfriend Sam. Harsh’s biggest fear is his parents finding out the fact that he his gay and hence he requests NJ to accompany him as his girlfriend to his sister’s wedding. This would keep his secret safe and will also protect him from unwanted marriage proposals. And then there’s Rudra, Harsh’s elder brother. The man of every girl’s dreams, Rudra is a heartbroken hunk who has trust issues and an exceptionally high ego.NJ meets Rudra and in immediately greeted with heart flutters. Rudra feels the same but realizes that it’s a sin to fantasize about his beloved brother’s girlfriend. There’s another problem. Rudra thinks NJ is a gold-digger and makes it his mission to expose her. However, destiny has other plans. Rudra and NJ end up falling for each other, but they part ways again through a series of very unfortunate events.A few days later, NJ goes missing and no one knows where to find her.True Liars is about finding love and trusting the one you love. A series of lies leading to a lot of heartbreaks. Nj has her issues but she has been trying so hard to pull herself together. Rudra is broken beyond measure and the only place he finds solace is when he is beside NJ. But love is never going to be enough. is it?A Romantic tale with a hint of thriller, the plot was great. The writing gets a little dull at places because too many words and too many chapters have been dedicated to describing the same feelings over and over again. But that didn’t slow me down. I was on a hunt for a happily ever after. I also like the way the author penned down the emotional segments of the book. The romance is mushy and gets clingy sometimes. There’s a lot of fantasizing and kissing. Doesn’t get creepy though (that definition might differ from person to person). It’s another refreshing read if you are looking for something satisfying and happy on a bad day. Isha Inamdar’s debut novel is a promising story about love, lies, and trust.

The story revolves around the lives of three buddies – Anjana (NJ) ,Sam and Harsh. Harsh belongs to a royal family from Rajasthan, hence has to hide his sexual orientation from them. So he takes NJ to his hometown posing her as his girlfriend to avoid any marriage prospects but fate plays it’s game. NJ ,upon seeing Harsh’s elder brother Rudra falls head over heels for him but denies it all along. Rudra , on the other hand is skeptical about NJ being a perfect match for Harsh and unknowningly develops feelings for NJ too.Amidst all the marriage rituals , NJ connects well with Harsh’s family and the closeness between Rudra and NJ goes to a new high when they kiss. But something happens and NJ is forced to leave Phalodi and Rudra behind.Days later ,NJ is found to be missing. Harsh , Sam and Rudra strive hard to find her but fail. Where is NJ ? Is she dead? Why did she disapper?I really liked the continuity of the story. The author has done a commendable work in perfectly plotting this book. The title is appropriate and I love how NJ is portrayed as an independent deejay artist , a profession not considered very apt for Indian girls. The ending , however , was a little abrupt for me.Pick this up for a quick read. Recommended.

Love and lies, two things that complicate our lives and that is what Isha Inamdar’s True Liars is about. The story starts with Anjana, Nj to her friends, and Harsh who are going to Harsh’s home as dating couple to attend his sister’s wedding. His reason for doing so is that he wants to hide his homosexual orientation from his family and bringing a girlfriend ensures that his family makes no matchmaking efforts for him. What starts out as a simple lie for a week, becomes complicated when NJ is attracted to Rudra, Harsh’s elder brother. Rudra also feels the same and his guilt over falling for his younger brother’s love and outburst towards the same creates havoc in their lives. By the time Rudra comes to know of the truth, NJ is gone from their lives forever. The author, Isha Inamdar, has woven a simple story which will keep you interested till the end. It’s a love story and like any other of its genre, its somewhat clichéd. But what keeps the hold on the reader is the reaction and thoughts of every character in the story. I especially liked the vulnerability of Harsh in the situation that was created by his stupidity. Fearing the repercussions if his family found out that he was gay, he built a castle of lies and inadvertently destroyed NJ and his brother who he revered. This book is a perfect weekend read as it is relaxing and of perfect length and well, who doesn’t like a good love story. Also, the cover is intriguing and eye catching. My rating: 3/5
