Mission Alpha (The Aegis Character #2) Reviews
On a mission to secure Intel on Al-Qaeda activities, the reader is taken immediately into the war zone and surrounded by gunfire. Eric Branson spotted and reported a strange electrical sparking through one of the windows of the building. The men were briefed and moved in to breach the building. Hearing a blood-curdling scream and lightning flashes coming from down the hall, they move forward. They find two men in the room, one on the floor in terror of the other. The one standing says he is American, but Branson doesn’t believe him and cannot see what he was using to torture the man on the floor. They tie up both men and everyone proceeds to gather the data they came for.Everything was moving along quickly, until the captured Wayne melted the plastic cuffs and attacked Malik, the other prisoner. Malik’s hands erupted in flames – but the flames were a weapon and he was not being burned??? Branson could not comprehend what he was seeing! What was going on here? This was a well written intro for the books coming after this one. The overall sense of being right there in the middle of an op like this kept the reader engaged and on edge to keep moving forward in the story. It was exciting and suspenseful. I definitely intend to follow the rest of this series! Highly recommended! I voluntarily read a review copy of this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
This was a well-written introduction to one of the main characters (Eric Branson) in the Aegis world. It gives some additional background into how he attained his position. It's a short read but action packed and exciting. The story starts out as a military thriller and quickly adds in sci-fi elements that make for a page turning read. I highly recommend this book and the previous one (Aegis: Catalyst Grove). I read a review copy of this book and this is my voluntarily opinion.
My first read from author Nathen Roten and it won't be my last. Captivating story line.
