This is one of those books, which is sure to become a favorite.Baby Bear follows Mama out of the cave to search for food, but the outdoors is so exciting. His curiosity has him peering behind trees, boulders and many other places where Mama can't immediately see him. Each time, she calls, 'Where, oh where, is Baby Bear?' and each page, turns to a fun game of hide-and-go-seek.Young listeners/readers love to play peek-a-boo or hide-and-go-seek, and this book allows them to dive into that fun. Baby Bear is quite the character as he investigates the best hiding corners. Young listeners/readers will enjoy seeking him out and announcing exactly where that bear has gone off to. It's interactive and draws kids into a game they love to play themselves. But this isn't only a fun game. While each spread turns into a seeking exercise, it also portrays the life of a bear. Subtly, young listeners/readers discover Baby Bear's habitat and learn what exactly bears love to munch on. The illustration bring the landscape to life, while incorporating a lovely dose of fun. Near the end of the tale, the journey of Baby Bear and Mama is mapped out on their return trip to the cave. This allows kids to test their memories and see if they can remember all the places Baby Bear visited.Summed up, this is a cute, fun, yet simple read which is sure to lure young listeners/readers in and have them playing along again and again and again.I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed it enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.

There's heightened excitement when familiar childhood games are played as dusk is spreading throughout a neighborhood. You can hear it in the whoops and laughter of the children. The new lighting changes everyday objects into otherworldly shapes. It's much easier and a whole lot more fun to conceal yourself from others. In the newest title featuring a loving mother bear and her lovable cub a setting sun signals the start of a new adventure. First introduced to us in Baby Bear Sees Blue (Beach Lane Books, February 7, 2012) and returning in Baby Bear Counts One (Beach Lane Books, September 24, 2013), the duo have returned in WHERE, oh where, is baby bear? (Beach Lane Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing Division, October 17, 2017) written and illustrated by the talented author illustrator Ashley Wolff. Playfulness and patience radiate from the pages. My full recommendation: http://librariansquest.blogspot.com/2...

This picture book continues Wolff’s series on Baby Bear and his explorations of his habitat. Here, Baby Bear and his mother head out to look for food. But every time his mother looks for him, Baby Bear has disappeared. Again and again she has to call out “Where, oh where, is Baby Bear” and then her little bear responds. Readers will enjoy spotting where Baby Bear is heading and then where he is hiding as the pages turn. The repetition is handled nicely, giving the book a lovely rhythm when being read aloud. The illustrations are crisp and filled with details of their forest home. A great read aloud pick. Appropriate for ages 1-4.

I love this beautifully illustrated rhyming, repetitive book about a baby bear who goes on a walk with her mama and wanders off a bit so that her mama has to ask "where oh where is baby bear?" and baby bear is up in a tree, behind a waterfall etc...

One of my favorite author/ illustrators. In this book Mama bear is trying to show baby bear where to hunt for food but he keeps disappearing. Good also for directions like up, down, under, over. Good storytime book.

This would be a cute books to use for a Bear themed storytime. It would be a nice interactive story. The children could help Mama Bear find where Baby Bear is hiding each time he goes missing.

With its sweet, dark toned illustrations and creative use of new words (like "wriggling trout," "roost," "birch tree"), this is a great night time storytime pick.
