National Geographic Kids Ultimate Space Atlas Reviews
I adore National Geographic Society/Carolyn Decristofanos' "National Geographic Kids Ultimate Space Atlas". It's fun and informative and the photos/graphics are exceptional. Even though the publication is geared towards children, I am an adult and I enjoyed it and found it to be visually appealing. I would definitely recommend this to any young people, or parents of, who have an interest in astronomy and space exploration. Definitely 5 stars. My copy was obtained from a Goodreads giveaway.
I am so excited to work through this atlas with my kiddos. What makes this atlas so cool is that it is a bit different than other atlases. You will find the maps, but there is more...lots more. There is information on constellations, solar system and and information on atmosphere. This book is filled with pictures, charts and stats. I am always looking for ways to keep the learning going over the fall months and into the school year to supplement what they learn at school. This book is going to be a HUGE hit! It is a super big book and has bright and colorful photos. I cannot get over how jam packed with facts, maps and other tidbits this book is. You will get to explore so much. This book also includes a detailed glossary and index. I love that the facts are written in a way that is easy to understand. Adults and kids alike will get lost looking at the pictures and learning so much cool and interesting information. So awesome!!! 5 HUGE stars
This is a book that is an excellent choise for a novice who knows nothing about space or a budding astronomer/astronaut who wants to learn more about the final frontier. It is divided into seven sections, beginning with a short orientation on how to get the most out of this book. The next section covers what to expect to see in space from the vantage point of earth at different times of the day, night, month, season. Next, learn all about Observing Space, followed by the Inner Solar System, the Outer Solar System, Our Galaxy and Beyond, Mapping Space, and finally Space Fun. Each section includes detailed color photographs and maps to help readers develop a better understanding of space and navigate themselves around the night sky, and there are also fun games and activities kids can do. I practically grew up in the Hayden Planetarium in NYC, so I loved this book. Of course, we have learned a lot more about space since I was young and this book covers it all. The Ultimate Space Atlas will literally take readers on a fun and illuminating imaginary journey through the universe.
A space atlas is perfect for any person who has questions about the universe. Readers will find information about space observation, the inner solar system, the outer solar system, the galaxy and even mapping space. Space enthusiasts will find maps, star charts, diagrams that explain principles, ideas and processes. Each chapter has a tab featuring a specific topic and images represented here include photos, telescope images and a few artist expressions of space scenes. There are also fun facts, games and quizzes.Readers can learn about Saturn’s rings which are named after the letters of the alphabet. If you’re curious about that stars you can learn about their births, life and death. The radio telescope in Guizhou Province, China has a bowl-shaped radio wave antenna that stretches 1642 feet. Parents, teachers and kids of all ages can learn about the galaxy that surrounds us and have fun while doing it.
This is an awesome book to sit down with your kids and talk about Space - even adults can learn something!!! Great pictures and a pretty sturdy book that will hold up to the many times it's opened and perused . . . Thank you Goodreads and the publisher for the apportunity to win this book - I enjoyed it a lot
I received this book as a giveaway and donated it the library-it has been well-received as there is much interest in all things space with the ramping up of eclipse coverage. Like most National Geographic books, this goes down easy with lots of (quality) photos and fun text.
The Ultimate Space Atlas is yet another invaluable resource for your child’s personal resource library. For the full review: https://twobookwormsblog.wordpress.co...
