I am 3/4 of the way through and up until the whole Brody is a stubborn asshole for wanting to go to his first choice school theme started this was a 5 star for me. But it's heading downhill fast because I want to tell Brody he isn't the only person who needs to bend here and wanting to follow your dreams doesn't make you a prick. I'll update my review when I am done if I change any of the above opinions but it's not looking good.....finished and just ugh. I loved the first 3/4 and the last 1/4 just ruined the whole thing. Addy needs a life and a love of her own and being the third wheel of a gay marriage....give me a break. So dissatisfied with the ended I can't even express myself.

Finally it's overDon't get me wrong, the characters are nice, but it was a pretty slow slog with some unnecessary drama thrown in at the end to set up the HEA. I feel like it missed a lot of opportunity too, no conflict between them (other than the last) and very little outside interaction (mostly just them hanging out). I would have liked to see Nick and Brody attend an Army ball, or something where they had to "pretend." It was obvious from the start where it was going to end and it seemed to take forever to get there.

Check out this review and others atwww.Twinsietalk.comwww.Facebook.com/Twinsietalkwww.Twitter.com/Twinsietalkwww.Tsu.co/TwinsietalkNewsletter : http://eepurl.com/brwkPv Brody & Nick (Something About Him #2)by A.D. Ellis I received this book from the author for an honest review.Oh Brody and Nick…..these two are quite a pair. Brody is looking to make a little bit of extra money so he hatches a plan with his friend/ex FWB Roomie Nick to get married. They are going to live together as husband and husband just for a year. Sounds easy enough right?? OF COURSE NOT SILLY!!!Brody is used to living a rigid existence in the military so when he is out of work he tends to be a little ADD. Nick is Mr. College Student. He is very organized and pretty smart but he is finding himself falling under the spell of charming Mr. King. When the two make some “boundaries” it all seems that their fake marriage will go off without a hitch. Then some of Brody’s military buddies catch wind of the scheme so the pair have to up their game and really “sell this marriage”. Along the way Brody is realizing he is in love with Nick and that SCARES THE HECK OUTTA HIM!! Nick is falling more in love with Brody and he hopes that when Brody leaves him, he will be able to pick up and move on. Nick and Brody both lean on Ad who is their best friend. She helps Nick keep the faith in Brody and helps Brody open his eyes to what he has in front of him. Between Brody’s fear and Nick’s accident at work, the couple finally open up and tell their truths but it further freaks Brody out. I loved loved loved loved the epilogue and really hope that Addie gets a book because she is an awesome chick.

Obviously by the title you know the MC’s are Brody and Nick. No secret there. But there story is quite fabulous.Brody and Nick have this arrangement and it’s very clever. They fake a marriage in the military to gain funds and off base housing… other things. I’m not military savvy, sorry. But it’s smart because the benefits are wonderful. Anyway, a fake marriage… you see where this is going.A.D. Ellis has a sort of poetry to her writing especially when it comes to emotion. As Brody & Nick begin to fall in love with each other, the writing and emotions grow… A crescendo of passion!!! You really become the characters when that happens. Not a lot of angst in this tale but some very emotional scenes that will make you mumbling curses.Wonderful epilogue. I’m thrilled she wrote one in there because it needed that. It tied up some loose ends and nagging questions I was having. This is a great love story and if that’s what you’re in to than this is a great book for you.

4.5 STARSIn the military, if you are married, you are given an allowance and you are allowed to live off base. Brody starts working this plan with Nick as a way to save money for each of them over the next year. They would be roommates at most, friends definitely, and if benefits were added, all the better.•••Brody & Nick didn’t start off with the perfect marriage and the white picket fence. They didn’t even have rings during their lunchtime wedding. What they did have was an understanding and a friendship and big hopes of saving money for their futures down the road.•••Brody only has a year left in the Army and he plans on going to college afterwards to earn a degree and prove to himself and his family that he can be something to be proud of. He battles with insecurities and depression and a lot of what he perceives as failures are only failures he sees himself. His family and friends support him and think he is wonderful, but it’s not always been smooth sailing.•••Nick will soon graduate with his college degree and he already has plans for where he wants to work and how he wants to put his degree to good use. However, his current roommate is a big douche and he’s on board for any plans that will get him away from his living arrangements and if he can save money in the process… where does he sign?•••The author pulls the reader in from the first pages with Brody & Nick and you fall in love with both of them instantly. They have been talking over the phone for a while so they are more than familiar with each other but, they are still shy when they meet in person.•••Once they get comfortable around each other it’s like they have been together forever. They complement each other perfectly, they banter back and forth and you will have a smile on your face through most of the story.•••They have chemistry that just sparks when they are in the same room and I love the fact that even early in their relationship they kept touching each other. Whether it be on the hand, the arm, or the back, just somewhere to feel the connection with the other.•••There’s also a wonderful cast of secondary characters that really brings the story full circle. You’ll understand what I mean when you read it yourself, but everyone should be so lucky to have a best friend like Addie. Brody’s mom is another character that put a huge smile on my face and I had quite a few visuals of ear-pulling. •••Even though most of this story is fast-paced and light-hearted the author doesn’t overlook homophobia in the military and I admired Brody’s mature actions in the way he handled it. Is he always mature? No, he screws up, more than once, and it’s going to be up to Nick whether he wants to forgive him.•••Brody & Nick had my full attention from start to finish and I really enjoyed the author’s writing and it flowed effortlessly which really had me captivated from the beginning. This is a pretty low-angst story, although there are some moments that are unnerving but they were either short lived or through just good storytelling I found myself smiling most of the time.•••I have a relative in the military right now, who just got married, so it was very refreshing and gratifying reading factual information that my own family had just discussed a few weeks earlier. I don’t know how much research the author had to do or if she just knew but it was very nice.••• The epilogue is an enjoyable bonus that answers many questions and leaves your heart full of joy and a huge smile on your face. A very recommended read. * I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the author.*

I’ve found another new-to-me author to follow!Brody & Nick is a stand-alone romance in the Something About Him series of unrelated stories. This is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Ellis but it surely won’t be the last.Brody will be getting out of the Army in a year but he wants to move off base now. If he gets married he’ll get a housing allowance. He figures he can split the rent with his new husband and they will both save money. When the year is up they can both go their separate ways.Nick will graduate from college in a year so Brody’s plan seems perfect to him since he doesn’t really like his current housemate and he and Nick are already friends. Neither of them counted on falling in love.I always find it hardest to write a review for a book that I really love. There is no way that my writing skills can adequately express how much I loved this story. The story itself is a new twist on the old “marriage of convenience” trope and it’s done extremely well. The characters are likeable and their story was one that captivated me right from the beginning. The heat between Brody and Nick is off the charts. The sex scenes are hot but not gratuitous. As almost always with books I love, this one had my emotions all over the place and I found myself doing an ugly cry more than once. Brody is such an idiot at times that I just wanted to smack him, but he is also a very caring individual who suffers from low self-confidence and bouts of depression. Nick is very supportive of Brody even when he suspects that he’s going to get his heart broken.I love epilogues and the one for Brody & Nick is one of the best I’ve ever read. I also fell in love with Addie who starts out as Brody’s best friend but she later becomes as good a friend to Nick. I would love to see Addie get her own story with guest appearances by Brody and Nick.I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

No secret that I was active duty. I have seen people get married to move off base. Matches made in hell really. And yes, the squadron commander was watching them like a hawk. Now the Air Force is slightly more lax when it comes to airmen moving of base, but still you have men and women in their early 20s making some not so great decisions when it comes to thisI wanted to slap the shit out of Brody. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to just ask him, “What is going on in that brain of yours?”. I was outdone. Just speechless at the proposal. It reminded me of some of the experiences of my fellow airmen I was stationed with. (I was 21 going into basic with a degree.) Brody is sweet, but he doesn’t always see past himself. He means well and that is important, but he just doesn’t see the forest for the trees. Did I tell you I wanted to slap him? I still do.Nick and Addie are somewhat bystanders in Brody’s decision making process. I really liked both of them. I wouldn’t mind having friends like them. Honest, caring, and above all, never getting sick of my bullshit. (Wait, I do have friends like that.) Nick is a hard worker and continuously puts others needs above his own. Selfless to a fault. It amazes me that he hadn’t been totally taken advantage of on a large scale before. I think this is where Brody gets over. Nick’s selflessness (and wanting to save a buck. What college student wouldn’t?).Addie is one of the characters that helps the story along. She is the voice of sanity in all of this craziness. (I hope she gets her love. I would like to see her in love.)If you love something very muchLet it go free.If it does not return, it was not meant to be yours. If it does return, love it as hard as you can for the rest of your life.~Anonymous

Let me start out by saying that even though this says its Book 2, it's in no way related to Book 1 and can be read as a standalone. There was no mention of any character or events that connect the two books. Brody is in the military and looking for a way to scam (let's call it what it is) the system for off base living and decides to proposition his texting/sexting pal into marriage to help them both save money. Of course, the decision to marry and be friends with benefits led to more feelings and wanting something more than a fake marriage. And Brody has to work through what he really wants for his life. I enjoyed/liked almost all the characters in this book. Everyone should have a friend like Addie to stand with them, mix them drinks and kick them when they need it. I was leery about reading this book after the first one. I had strong opinions and none of them were good but I'm really glad I gave this book a chance. And the epilogue in this book is the kind I love to read, though I'm greedy and would definitely read a follow up book to Brody, Nick and Addie!**I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review **

I thoroughly enjoyed the previous two books in the series along with A.D. Ellis's writing style, so I was thrilled to read Brody and Nick's story.4* ~ I loved the idea of the fake marriage and when the two guys actually fell in love with each other and had wonderful dates, but were reticent about declaring their true feelings. There were some lovely scenes between Brody and Nick showing how much they cared, liked being together, and wanted a real long-term marriage. The angsty parts were wonderfully written and brought tears to my eyes. 3* ~ Avoiding spoilers, I had difficulty in understanding why Brody wanted to move off base in the first place as he only had one year of service left and greater difficulty comprehending his decision at the end of their first year of marriage. It left me feeling Brody was very selfish and self-absorbed and didn't really love Nick in the way I thought he did. Although the epilogue was a HEA, it was unexpected and not the way I wanted their story to go. Thinking back, it had been hinted at, but I was wishing for something different.Overall, an enjoyable read I'd recommend.

I loved this book. "Brody and Nick" captivated me from the start. Two people marrying more as a business arrangement instead of love is a concept that has been written about plenty. Nick and Brody's story was fresh and interesting. The fact that they didn't think things through to the end made for a very delightful story. Both Nick and Brody seemed real and the way they both bumbled through their relationship scared of what the ends of the year would bring was both adorble and frustrating. I'm still not sure how I feel about Addie it seems like she was more invested in Nick and Brody's life than her own. The gift she gave them was great but it seemed like her happiness depended on them and nothing else. I don't believe that I've ever read anything else by this author but I will be reading more.I received this book in exchange for an honest review

What can I say I love Brody and Nick.Brody in the military wants to live off base but in order to get the allowance he needs to be married. Brody has known Nick for a little while and are friends so when Brody starts thinking of who he can marry for just a year Nick comes to mind. Nick looking to save some thinks this could be a good idea and Brody being hot doesn't hurt either. So they get married but will it be just for a year as their feelings start to grow? This book is so well written. The written in dual POVs you get to see their feelings start to grow for one another as part of the ARC of the story. Ms. Ellis also hits on some very interesting subjects from depression to being gay in the military both written with care and sensitivity that touched me. The dialog between the characters is witty and funny as well. All in all this is a great book and well worth the time.

I received an ARC for an honest review.I loved reading about Brody and Nick and their struggle to find their happily ever after. Brody and Nick are friends that have keep in touch through texts, while Brody was deployed. During this time it suggested that they do something unconventional to help each other out. Will their plan ruin everything or will they eventually find/get their happily ever after they deserve? Many things where touched that brought forth ideas/things that happen that don't get discussed very often. This was mainly depression of someone being gay, however the author covered it very nicely.

I received this book as an arc and loved itBrody and Nick are both looking to save money and Brody approaches Nick to marry him to save on housing. They both need to learn how to communicate through this marriage and are not knowing how the other feels. You watch them fall in love and struggle in the end to keep the marriage together. I loved them realizing they loved each other and the struggle they went through to fight for each other.I LOVED Addie. I wish I had a best friend like her..

I loved this story. Brody and Nick started out as friends marrying to save some money. What they ended up with was so much better than a bigger savings account. When their love is put to the test, will love conquer all or will their insecurities and stubbornness force them apart? Great story, I did not want to put it down. I was hooked from the beginning. I received an ARC for an honest review.

Love this bookBrody and Nick started out their lives in an unconventional way. They married to save money. They barely knew each other. Brady's friend Addie was against it at first but came to support him and Nick. The ups and downs in this book were an awesome rollercoaster. The three of them were so fun and glad that the book ended the way it did. Loved it.

This just got worse and worse. Starting at 3 starsIn the beginning it seemed a bit juvenile but cute enough. The plot device used to ensure our couple have to (view spoiler)[remain faithful (hide spoiler)] is pretty lame and then never referenced again but that's okay I was only looking for a light bedtime read. But then we move into 2 star rangebecause we completely skip the best part of marriage of convenience stories - the falling in love. Seriously it goes from planning on being seen visibly dating their spouse to being happy they have been doing so. It then moves into the less fun part of these stories immediately. That would be the lack of communication part. So incredibly dull. And then it just got stupid and thus finally plunged into 1 star range. And yes the characters were behaving as if stupid most of the story but this was a new low. (fyi - the following really is a large spoiler for the completely logic free end drama)(view spoiler)[The final drama is all about Brody getting accepted to Stanford. Brody missed out on going to uni because his dad didn't want to pay for gay son to go. So he goes to the army and only later does dad relent. Now he wants to go to Stanford but hubby wants to stay in Texas. This sort of thing is realistic. But never, not once, do any of the discussions about how best to deal with this does anything else make sense. Brody's never makes the case for Stanford being the better choice for him. He certainly could have mentioned that in his field Stanford is the #1 ranked US school. Regardless Stanford is his choice and since he has given up so much I don't think it unreasonable for the people who love him to support him. But no they simply let him make what they consider to be the wrong choice. They could have made an argument for why Austin is a better choice but instead their argument is about how they are there. I kid you not his mother actually tells him to think about how unhappy his best friend will be. And Nick who has been adamant that he will never be forced to give up what he wants again sure doesn't consider that Brody giving up what he wants might be wrong for Brody. Instead of driving his car out to California for the school year Brody leaves months early via plane. Umm why? And then his parents come out and tell him they made a mistake all those years ago when they withdrew their financial support. But they don't offer him money now, nor do they actually support his choice of school. They remind him his life is in Texas and tell him he is being stubborn. (hide spoiler)]At the beginning of the book the author asked us to accept that characters sometimes do things we don't agree with. I completely accept that. But I still like my characters to at least make some sense. And where we could have seen Brody and Nick work through their problem together we sadly just get to see one of them fully capitulate while the other never once considers what the first one is giving up.

2.5☆I liked the first halve of this story the whole fake marriage thing and ofcourse falling in love but god Brody is one selfish sob I had a hard time liking him, Nick was such a sweetheart and a bit off a doormat. What I missed in this story was friendship besides the one they have with Addie .Addie ugh she was way too present for me.The Epilogue was nice but still too much Addie it felt like they were in an ménage relationship. (view spoiler)[ it weirded me out that Addie lived with them while pregnant with Brody's and Nick's twins.my WTF moment was that she will continue living with them after the birth because she's the twins mom like seriously WTF it was just too weird and ruined the story for me.(hide spoiler)]

This started out great but started to lose me close to the middle. Nick and Brody were great and had good chemistry but parts of the story lines and other relationships hurt the book. There wasn't a consistency in how the story flowed and some of the angst were unnecessary. I also found Abby to be way too clingy. 2.5

How hard are boys' heads tied to their hearts?Sometimes not enough at first, but with enough pressure from family and friends, love can provide the bond needed to allow forgiveness to heal the inevitable hurts caused by misunderstanding and mistakes we all face. We do many wrong things based on worry and fear in spite of knowing better. The forgiveness offered yields the great joy of making up.

Another great book in this seriesNick and Brody decide to fake marry essentially to save money. As time moves on they develop feelings for each other that turns to love. But what happens when one of them runs scared. Two broken hearted men, one who can't say I was wrong and the other left devastated and alone. Can love being them back together again.

Heartbreakingly beautiful. I love Nick. What a great character. Addie is a wonderful friend to both Nick and Brody. Brody destroyed me. Such a beautiful man with so much to overcome. You will laugh and cry through this whole book and at the end have a very satisfied smile.

Good solid storyGood solid read the characters dragged you through every bit of there story with them , at times I felt like a wanted to strangle both Brody and Nick, dont know if I liked the ending.
