Part of an on going series this book left me a bit peeved. Interesting ideas in it, but too much going on & not nearly enough explanation as to why. A big part of the story left me scratching my head. Why the heck would synthetic people leave in the ability to feel excruciating pain? Some pain, yes, pain from torturous type of injury? NOPE! Did not make sense at all to me. Do like how it's brought up that if we download our memories into AI there is the question as to is the AI actually US or are we still the original stored body. That will be the reason I pick up the next book... to see where she takes it. If it's not addressed in the next book I will be disappointed. There is a teaser given by Ping near the end of this book as to the answer, so I am hoping that's the focus of the next one...

Once again. D.W. Moneypenny had written a fantastic story. And it is well worth reading. With no spoilers involved. There are some very interesting twists to the plot that will leave you drooling to get started on the next story right away. That being said. If you have not read any of the Mara Lantern series. Do it. Go grab number one and start reading!
