Vondey does an excellent job in this book (a revised version of his dissertation). Using Mühlen's reform liturgy as the interpretative key to his entire theology, Vondey (who is German by birth) ably interprets and synthesizes texts that have mostly not been translated. This choice of interpretive key seems to be valid: It's not often that a young scholar convinces a major figure in his field (which Mühlen is, even though this book is one of the few English-language sources on him) to contribute to a study like this, as Vondey did. My hesitation to give this book five stars is mostly due to the fact that I don't follow Mühlen's ideas all that far, while Vondey seems to eagerly do so in most cases.

Don't know how you can give this book two stars. There is no other book on Muhlen out there. And don't even bother trying to read Muhlen in German (unless you can read German well). I had to read Muhlen in my doctoral program, and this book is a life-saver! Even has Muhlen's endorsement in it. Along the way, I learned a lot about Augustine, Scotus, Richard of St. Victor, and others important to trinitarian thought and pneumatology. Well written, although a bit expensive.
