Loved the book! My hunnyb is in law enforcement so I love reading crime drama novels plus I love that this book has a Christian theme yeah that makes it all the better for me! Another thing I loved about this book is that it mentions Raton NM and the Raton Pass and Trinidad CO; when I read that part I jumped up and went in to read it to my hunnyb! We actually live in the area :) The thing I liked best was the main character John Everett Sage. His character has strong qualities and he is not afraid to be the man God called him to be. He is not ashamed of where he came from but neither does he have to stand on the corners boastfully shouting all about himself. This quote from another author reminds me of John Everett Sage: “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” ― John WoodenOne of my favorite quotes from the book: "Life is a gift of God and each day is a journey."If you like reading about the old west and all its incredible twists and turns story with lil bit of romance, crime, and success at beating the odds then you need to get this book asap!I love this new author I found through my kindle reads! Can't wait to read another of his books.

It's a decent book. I have one MAJOR problem. No where is it listed as an Evangelical Christian sermon. I usually avoid these books for the same reason I didn't like this one. If he had left out the justifications, excuses, and attempts to "explain" how it's ok for his protagonist to kill people when he also points out that Jesus didn't actually hurt anyone when he turned out the money lenders in the Temple I would give it 4 stars.I really appreciate those writers who label their books "Christian". It's a bit like the old categories of books. It pretty much ensures that you won't have a lot of mindless violence, lewd language, graphic sex, etc. It also allows me to look at other authors who don't sermonize.

I love westernsI have read hundreds of western novels. Both fiction and non fiction. For fiction I am attracted by the title. Then by the author's style and story line. Dan Arnold caught me up from his first sentence and kept me turning this page to get to the next. Gripping story line, good characters and enough love interest to be honest but not to get in the way. The bible references were a pleasant surprise and added strong reassurances.

A Christian westernI gave this book a five star rating because of the good plot and the great descriptions of the characters. I like a good book that has all of what's makes a book great without all of the foul language. This book proves that a great book doesn't have to have the foul language or the detailed sex that Author's are now putting in their books.

This was a great book! Sure it had a few typos and grammatical errors but I found this book entertaining and uplifting. It wasn’t overly religious but the themes of the faith were evident. I also enjoyed the main character’s transparency as he struggled as a man of faith. It was refreshing to see him, a man of the law, consciously deciding to honor God in his actions.

A very good story! This was one of the finest westerns that I've ever read. It was a page turner from the start. You don't find many western writers that involve scripture as a part of the story. I loved this book!

Interesting Book!I started this book out of curiosity because I love westerns, not expecting to like it because I have never read a novel written by a man. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! Of course, you have to like old western heroes and the good guys who get the bad guys!

Enjoyed the different presentation and good story line.I read for pleasure and relaxation, not to write reviews which I feel should be left to recognized critics. I feel most readers should utilise the star rating system. I do feel this book was one of my better reads.

Excellent, excellent, excellent!I have read the works of Louis Lamour, Zane Gray, and many other western fiction writers. I picked this book out of simple curiosity. After reading it, I can say that Mr. Arnold ranks up there with those mentioned before. I glad that I took the chance. The story flows and has plenty of action. The style in which this book is written is easy to read but yet hard to put down. If you enjoy western fiction, read BEAR CREEK. You won't be disappointed.

I like western novels, I liked this one very much.It is refreshing to read a good story without the profanity so common by some Authors these days. This book reminds me of other authors I have read that could write a good story and keep the reader turning the pages. Such as Zane Grey, and Max Brand. Good read, Looking for the next title by this writer.

This is a new to me western author and I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it was. It had a great sense of realism and very interesting characters. It seemed very true to life in regard to speech and descriptors. Good gunfights, horses, cowboys, bad guys, what else do you need? There were some misused words but they didn't distract from the story.

Real Western, real peopleThe protagonist is a real lawman after the Civil War. He shoots, he bleeds and he's a Christian. I enjoyed the journey and the people. This is the real West with some good, some bad, politics and brothels. As a descendant of a true east Texas sheriff, I enjoyed the book very much.

Excellent Read written by a Christian author. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and Biblical references thought fully placed in context within the storyline. A Western that holds your interest and keeps you turning the pages. I will be reading more of this author.

The book was well written and was a good story but it should not have been listed as a Christian book. What I don't think of Christian books I don't think of ones that have cursing him.

EbookInteresting story about a sheriff trying to cleanup his territory without using guns too much. It doesn't always work as the west is still wild.
