Satin And Steel Reviews
I've been eagerly awaiting this sequel to Ms. Serrah's 'Lotus Petals' for waaayyyy to long so it was with great happies I consumed this book …twice, even! Rich with poignant emotions, one thing I've always admired bout Ms. Serrah's writing is that she possesses the ability to create complex and contrasting characters, yet also breaks it down into the manageable and relatable. I think romance writers get a bad rap at times, some think it's trite and unworthy writing but I disagree heartily. It takes a sharp, clear, rational AND emotional mind to effortlessly weave together so many threads without it all unraveling too soon. Ms. Serrah is quick witted, intelligent and full of her own magic that allows her unique style to shine bright through all her works.I was pleased with this book beyond measure and soon found myself swimming through the world she deftly and lovingly created. Her continuing growth as a writer is just ONE reason I am a huge fan of this Lady Writer. Want something shiny, sexy and hauntingly alluring? Then I suggest you get thee to any online retailer and stock up on all her works. Well done
Oh I just couldn't put this book down!! Kin born Rhiannon has been sent to London to find a traitor among her kind. Only to find out she has been betrayed by her own allies. Little does she know that she has a guardian or two watching out for her.Brantwijn has done it again!! I can't ever seem to put her books down. I also can't wait until I can get my hands on book 3!!I recommend this beautifully talented author to all of my friends!!!!
Brantwijn Serrah delivers again with the second instalment of The Books of Blood and Fire. There's no dearth of violence and sex, as Rhiannon chases after a demon that has developed a taste for it's own kind, in early nineteenth century London. Rhiannon is trust into a world of political turmoil where her ideals are tested and the outcome might just decide whether she lives or dies.I loved this book. So much that I blitzed through it in a couple of days. I loved the vivid imagery of the love scenes. They were suitably dark and deviant. I enjoyed the rich cast, but there were times when I felt a little lost, times when the political setting of that world came into play. And another minor bump is that a few of the minor characters have a secret but for the life of me I couldn't muster any interest in it. Maybe I'll get to understand it better in the coming books.A must read for fans of Vampire fiction(the Anne Rice kind).
LOVED diving back into the world of Serrah's demons. Hooked me right from the beginning and kept pulling me in for more. Well developed characters, great pace, great intrigue. The thing I loved the most was the skillful world building Serrah built upon in the second book of her Blood and Fire series. I absolutely loved how she delved even deeper into the world of demons, layering the new of the second book with the established of the first. It was seamless and well written. If you're looking for a good vampire read, or just a good read in general, pick it up. Pick it up now.
Book 2 in Serrah's series is just as deep and full of adventure as the first one. Her characters are well thought out and come up off the page. Her descriptions pulled me in and kept me turning the pages as conflicts and tension were high.If you enjoy Vampires, deep point of view, and romance, then give this book a chance. It is book 2 but I don't feel like you must read book 1 in order to figure out book 2, though reading the first book would be helpful to many readers plus why not read both- this author writes wonderfully.
