I wanted to check out this book due to another book an author wrote in the kindle worlds set within this series. I liked what I saw of Hank there enough to check out this series. However when actually checking out this book it didn't work for me. I felt like everything seemed predictable from the start, not a good thing. Somehow the SEAL and the Hollywood actress in trouble couldn't keep my attention. In the end this one wasn't for me.

Hotness Rating 3 out of 5Montana SEAL is the first book of the Brotherhood Protectors series and although the premise is one of my favorites to read I found the story a bit predictable. Normally, I love the quick damsel in distress, second chance at love trope fun to read. I can't say exactly where this story lost me, but it was just okay. Hank "Montana" Patterson is a great male character. He left his family ranch to follow his dream of becoming a SEAL. He accomplished all of his goals and is now back home after a mission gone bad. His future is pretty much his to do with as he wishes, but his father was shot and the childhood sweetheart that he hasn't been able to forget is in trouble, leaving him no time to dwell on anything but keeping her safe. In the beginning, I actually really liked it. Montana was a solid character that oozed masculinity and big protector, but as the story reached the halfway mark I found myself rolling my eyes at his cheesy responses and actions.Sadie McClain gave up her high school love so he could chase his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL. With nothing left to do she pursued her own dreams in California. Against all odds Sadie catapulted to stardom as an A-list actress after landing a lead role almost right away. She enjoys acting but not everything that comes with it and is now back home to hide out from a stalker that has just become too much. I'm not sure what it was about Sadie. I just never connected with her. She wasn't particularly wishy-washy or anything that normally annoys me in a heroine. She just was meh. Everything seemed so easy for her and she was just blandly accepting and flat as a character. There could have been so many fireworks between this couple, but again it was just okay. They seemed to slip comfortably into their roles as bodyguard and client and then comfortably into their role as fake girlfriend and boyfriend, then comfortably into more. Don't get me wrong there were a few words of "this can't go any further", "my life isn't here", etc. but it seemed halfhearted at best. Now, with all of that being said if you are looking for a sweet, semi-hot, comfortable read with very little drama you won't be disappointed. Again, I didn't find the story awful or unreadable. It was just okay. I'm not even opposed to giving the next one a try.

3.0-3.25 RATING- I normally like these short damsel in distress stories and this one was okay. I think the suspense portion of the story was just a little over the top for me, nothing major, just some eye roll worthy moments. Still the book sets up the rest of the series as a bodyguard/protection agency is being set up with ex-military guys... threat can't be wrong, right?I'll probably read the rest of the books in this series eventually, just use them as in-between books, as long as I can pick up on sale or borrow.

Good story line, great fast read. Interesting characters with lots of character development for such a short read. I really enjoyed it and am glad I picked up this book. While this is the beginning of a series there it not a cliffhanger. I am planning on reading more of this series as I really enjoyed it

Not a perfect book, but it kicked off the series and I think it will only get better.

Seal and cowboysI needed a pallet cleanse before I started an arc a that I agreed to read. So I thought this book would be perfect. And it was. It’s a sappy second chance at love story with a movie star who is being hunted down and her ex boyfriend who is a SEAL recovering from his last mission. Great chemistry on the short side but definitely enough time to tell the story.

Sadie McClain is one of the world's most famous actresses. Hank Patterson is the boy she left behind, who is now a Navy SEAL facing a possible discharge due to an injury sustained in the line of duty. She's returned to her Montana home to escape LA - and a stalker. He returns when his father is shot during a roadside discussion with Sadie.Hank's father, a mean, cantankerous man, points out that if Sadie hadn't moved when she did, she would have been hit instead of him, and suggests that Hank act as her bodyguard until he shooter if found. Sadie thinks this is a bad idea because she still has a "thing" for Hank. Hank feels the same way, but can't resist protecting her. Sparks fly.The identity of the shooter, who tries more than once to kill Sadie, is kind of a surprise and his/her rationale is kind of dumb, but I liked the book anyway.

Hot, sexy seal with a gorgeous starlet - both with a small town, hometown heart. The way Sadie cares for Montana's dad was wonderful. The mystery of the shooter brings them all together. And the fact that Sadie and Montana have a history that goes back to high school adds another element. I really enjoyed this story.

This is a spin off from the Take No Prisoners series but can be read as a standalone. Hank “Montana” Patterson had to leave active duty due to an injury. He comes home to heal from that injury and finds out his father was shot at the same time. He and his dad never really got along which is why he joined the service. Sadie McClain is a huge actress and she came home to unwind and just try to distress. She and Hank were once in love and a couple in high school but she knew he needed to get away from his family and not stay to be on the ranch, around the family, namely his dad. Sadie knew he had a dream to be a SEAL and she turned down his marriage proposal even though it about killed her to do so. Sadie was with Hank’s dad when he got shot and realizes that her stalker is around and could be the one that shot at them. Hank shows up after his dad has been shot and offers to help guard Sadie until the person/persons responsible are caught but what he didn’t realize was being around his ex was how hard, how painful the memories of his lost love are. Hank never, ever stopped loving her—but what he didn’t realize was, Sadie never stopped loving him either. Sadie can’t resist being around Hank- the memories of the past come calling back and she wonders if they will ever stop, for the love she has for him. Sadie is also fighting to stay alive because she has this stalker after her. The twists and turns in this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is suspense and there is some mystery along with a great heap of romance- You will not be disappointed by this book. My rating: 4.0 stars *******A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****

The first in the Brotherhood Protectors series, this book promises great things for the future episodes. The author sets the stage with a love that will be proven will last through thick and thin, as teenage sweethearts go their separate ways in order to fulfill their dreams and broaden their horizons. As they conclude their highschool years together, feeling the love for each other, Hank expects the love of his life to say yes when he proposes. Nobody was more surprised when Sadie said no. She kept her reasons close to her heart, broken as it was. She knew that Hank had to leave their town in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL, and that if she said yes, he would never leave. And she had her own dreams of acting. Who could have ever thought that their lives would "blow up" the way they did? Not only has Hank become one of the best SEAL's out there, but Sadie is one of Hollywoods' most sought after actresses there is. But she's in hiding, so to speak, running to her hometown, trying desperately to ditch a stalker. Hank is off on medical leave, healing from wounds incurred on his last detail, when he receives a phone call from his sister telling him to get home as soon as possible, their father's been shot. As the pieces of the mystery start to fall into place, will this former couple be able to mend their hearts together? Or will they forever be destined to living their lives alone?A beautiful tale, easy to follow, with characters that are created to love, and a mystery that will have you on the edge of your chair more often than not. Be prepared to have tissues close at hand, as you may need them a time or two.

I don't get this author's style at all. We kind of come into the story in a weird place and establish the "stalkerness" very early. Then there's the cranky dad, who we see for about 5 minutes before we forget about him till the end of the book. I knew pretty early who the mysterious murderous person was going to be and it was ridiculous. I mean really, what a hot mess. We go from random to WTF in like 2 seconds. Oh and I don't know if you know this or not, but Hank is a NAVY SEAL!!!!! He's done BUD/S training because HE'S A NAVY SEAL!!!!!!! And just in case you didn't realize that HE'S A NAVY SEAL the author is going to tell you every page or so. Ugh... we. get. it! But telling me over and over that he's a SEAL while being the crappiest of crappy body guards does NOTHING for me. The whole story seems to meander from her to there and then as we get near the wrap up, the author decides to through the ENTIRE kitchen sink into the plot. From one implausible moment to the next... I just kind of wanted to bang my head on something to make this hot mess stop. Ugh...(view spoiler)[Call me crazy, but if someone has placed boulders on the road to your house and only a few people know you're heading there shouldn't that make you think? Make you really think about who that could have been?(hide spoiler)]No character in this book is fully developed. I don't get it, but I won't bother trying to anymore either.

Hank Patterson or Montana as he is known to his SEAL team is about to be sidelined by his injuries. He is recuperating in a hospital with his friend and SEAL team member Swede when he receives a phone call that changes the course of his life.Sadie McClain is back home from a very successful career as an actress when she is shot at. Luckily the shooter's aim is off and instead of hitting Sadie, Hank's dad is hit instead. This news brings Hank back to his Montana home near the Crazy Mountains and Bear Creek Ranch. Trouble ensues and Sadie hires Hank as her bodyguard. Sadie and Hank were high school sweethearts and the flame never died even when they both went on to other things and moved away from their Montana homes. This story was faced paced and Sadie was not just another Hollywood starlet, she was NOT a diva and while she did some growing up in Hollywood, it didn't change her core. She is sweet, strong, fierce and has an inner warrior in her that helped her survive.Hank is strong and sexy, and perfect for Sadie if only Sadie would let him back into her life. This was a fast paced story full of action and the women were full of fire. I enjoyed it so much that I plan on buying and reading the rest of the series. I need to take a cold shower first though!

Great action packed adventure that took in all elements, with vivid descriptions of each scene. Elle James created an interesting story of an injured Navy Seal contemplating his future with the military, trying to decide if he wanted to continue or move on to something else. When his past love (who never left his heart) needs a bodyguard, Hank steps in.The first half of Montana Seal was great! Lots of action, mystery and romantic tingles. Gosh! How I love those tingles! The very last portion of the book when everything comes to a head (no spoilers here) was also very exciting and well written. In between the first and the last parts... well...I have no objections to the sex scenes, but be warned that there are indeed some rather intense sex scenes. Those sex scenes, however, may have been a bit too much all lumped together, one right after the next. Just my opinion! Even with that, I truly enjoyed the book and love this author's writing. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series or checking out other books by Elle James. On a side note, this was not a very long book. A bit less than 200 pages, and can be read in a short amount of time.

Suspense and second chance loveSadie is a famous Hollywood actress but she has a stalker and decides to return home to Montana. She’s staying in the house she grew up in with her brother and his wife. But it seems her stalker has followed her here.Hank is a Navy SEAL who was recently injured and has returned home to rest. He never thought he’d see the woman who turned down his proposal, in his father’s hospital room. When Hank finds out about her stalker, he becomes her bodyguard but they pretend they’ve gotten back together. Her ranch house is set on fire and explodes, she’s taken by the culprit and thinks she’ll never see Hank again. They wreck and Hank finds the burning vehicle and thinks he’s lost her forever. She’s fine and he realizes he’ll do anything to be with her, even go to Hollywood. Not a long story but it’s full of suspense, stalkers, a handsome Navy SEAL and gorgeous actress. Second chance love story and a surprise ending I really didn’t see coming.

Brotherhood of SEALS"Montana Seal" has the bones of a good romance; strong, engaging characters, entertaining plot, romantic tension, and a good balance between action and love scenes. I'm especially fond of stories built around current and former Navy SEALS so I was hopeful about this title despite my ambivalence about the author. I've read several of Ms James' books, with widely variable results. I know, I know she has dozens of books to her credit and many writing awards BUT the writing itself lacks the polish I expect from such a prolific author. I'm not looking for literary greatness. If I am, I'm definitely in the wrong genre but redundant phrasing and sloppy editing shouldn't be the norm either.

Couldn't put it downSadie and hank "montana" had been high school sweethearts but when hank asked her to marry him, she turned him down. He became a deal and she a movie star. She went back home to Montana to take a break and was shot at while standing next to banks dad. He was shot and thanks sister called him. Hank had been hurt and was going to come home to recuperate any way. Sparks flew when the two met again after all the years and she hired him as a body guard. They both had trouble keeping it just business and there is a surprise ending.

I received this e-book free from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing an honest review. It is sad when the best part of the book you are reading is the picture on the front of the book and it goes downhill from there. This book had a mediocre storyline, was predictable and riddled with misspelled words. Sorry I wasted my time reading it hoping it would get better only to be left hanging with a badly written book.

Good! This was the first book that I've read by this author, and I'm glad I pucked it up now. The setting, the characters, the twist, I loved it. It's a second chance romance between a big actor and injured SEAL. The way they get flung back I to each others arms was interesting. They had to over come a threat to Sadie, but it left her full family in danger. I'm glad it got the ending it did, and I look forward to book 2.

Short but great beginning to Brotherhood serirdThis is the first and only book from this author and of this series. It was pretty obvious the guy was going to get his girl right from the beginning! My only question.... The stalker that she was running from, that followed her, and was seen in town....what happened to him? Did I miss something or did hr just go quietly into the night?

I love Navy Seals books. This is a great start to the brotherhood to start a protection series. Hank's last mission was bad and while he was at the hospital he got a call his dad had been shot. Then Sadie is home to recoup from her acting career. There are threats to sadie and hank is there to help. They loved each other in High School but left to their own careers. A lot of action and decisions to make. Loved the first book in this series.

Enjoyed this story of Hank and Sadie. High school sweethearts that give each other the chance to grow by breaking up. However they never go5 over each other. Wonderful story of intrigue, romance and military men. How can you lose in a book like that. Read this book as it was free but liked it so much that I bought the next one in series. Enjoyable read.

It was just a soso romance. Very predictable, the editing needs work, and the characters were just okay. For a Navy Seal, he could have been a little brighter, but at least he had a daunting stare that turned women's knees to jelly and intimidated the bad guys, if there were any real bad 'guys' in this story. Just a nice light romance without much depth.

I like this authors twists, turns & was surprised by the crook. There's a lot happening in this book revolving around reasons behind sacrifice childhood sweethearts made bubbling to the surface since they're back in town. Now someone's threatening his only love's safety, his instincts to protect, the family conflicts, his future, their attraction make for a great steamy suspense romance.

It was well written with a well thought out plot. I did not like the fact that it had quite a few editing errors. It had 'had' instead of 'hard', 'a' instead of 'Allie', etc through out the book. Once or twice I could ignore, but there were a lot of them. Without that I would have given this book 4 stars. I'll read the next in the series to see if someone hired an editor.

Childhood sweethearts Sadie and Hank went their separate ways to pursue their dreams - Hollywood actress and Navy SEAL. Fate returns them to their childhood homes and gives them a chance to reconnect. This is a quick sweet read full of action and romance. Worth spending an afternoon curled up with.
