Aurora (Rori) Prescott is finally on the cusp of getting her PHD! She has been accepted to work with an Oxbridge professor in Africa for a year. This well prepare her for her doctoral thesis on apex predators. Her mother is not best pleased and has tried emotional and mental blackmail on her. She has been cruel about her weight and emotionally distant for years but Rori is going for her goal! Heath Sellers is trying to make amends for his past. Once the guide for big game hunters, he now deals exclusively with academics and researchers. But he was cursed by a shaman and every night he turns into a Lion. He has finally managed to get himself under control and the year long research trip seems like a great chance to further his self imposed payback. Then he meets Rori and life gets all kinds of complicated!!! Rori is drawn to the standoffish and occasionally downright rude Heath!! Watch as their relationship lurches from tragedy and catastrophe to blossoming love, all whilst fending off hunters and ghosts from Heath's past.Wonderfully original story and I loved Heaths noble attempts at making good on his promise to protect wildlife. Great BBW character who is still comfortable in her own skin, even whilst still tackling her hangs upsI was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is a 175 page standalone with an HEA that's set in Africa. It had a promising start, but moved a little slowly for me and I found myself skimming pages, especially toward the end.Aurora "Rori" Prescott has been an outsider her whole life. Her father left when she was young, her mother makes her feel she isn't good enough and she has no close friends. But Tori has a dream of studying apex predators and has been accepted to assist a professor for a year in the Serengeti while they track collared lions and she works on her PhD dissertation.Heath Sellers has been hired as their guide. He comes highly recommended, but his experience has come with a price and a big secret. He is a former very successful big game trophy guide to the rich who was cursed three years earlier to become a lion shifter after he was involved in the killing of a lion shifter in lion form. When he meets his new clients, he pegs Tori as a city girl who has no place in the wilds. But when they find carcasses with red arrow shafts nearby, his concern intensifies, because he knows the poacher those arrows belong to, and his job just became much more dangerous.Copy received in return for an honest review.

This was an interesting story of the a young woman Aurora (Rori) Prescott who was taking her first plane trip anywhere and it just happen to be Africa she was taking her life into her own hands finally. Rori was frightened but it was better than spending the rest of her life listening to her mother tell her how she shouldn't do this or that Rori was working on her Dissertation The Effects of Poaching and Population Loss on the Pride Structure of African Lions in the Sarengetti she was to meet Dr. Beck in Tanzania and then on to Africa where they met Heath Sellers their guide who didn't want Rori going because he thought she was to weak of a city girl who would get them killed but Dr Beck insisted she stay and the adventure begins. I really like this story it was different the dangers of poaching is very serious business.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Helena Shaw.Aurora(Rori) Prescott grew up under her mothers thumb and being told she was never really good enough, skinny enough so when she was picked for working in Africa on her PhD she knew her mother would have a fit and try to talk her out of it. Heath Sellers was cursed 3 years ago and now he has been halfheartedly trying to make up for why he got cursed but it was a lie. With Rori by his side he now has a chance to really get on the right track. The author gave the characters very good interaction. This is definitely a book that I could not put down. This is for any paranormal romance book lover who likes a little danger with their story.

This was the first book I have read by this Helena Shaw. This book looked at the shifter world from a different perspective and it was quite interesting to read how Heath came to be a shifter. It was a quick read but I was so intrigued by the story that I didn't want to put it down. Rori came to Africa as part of her schooling to obtain her PhD. When Heath first meets her his first thought is that she is a city girl not suitable for life on the plains of Africa and he tries to tell her she can't come. She convinces him to give her a chance and this is where not only sparks start flying but opinions change, When Heath's secrets come out can Rori continue to trust him? You'll have to read this book to find out. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Human by day Lion by nightRori Prescott is leaving on the adventure of her life, but her mother had to put a dampener on it once again, making her feel guilty. But this is a once in a life time opportunity to study under the well know Professor Lawrence Beck to help her attain her PhD studying the effects of Poaching in Africa. Their guide is a bit strange on top of being very hot, but to Rori he’s just not nice thinking she can’t handle it and not wanting her there. But as the adventure goes into a few weeks things start to happen and not for the best all because of poachers. And what’s up with their guide always going off on his own every night and returning in the morning? Well written and very entertaining to read.

Aurora Aka Rori wants to get her PhD and to ge it she must go to the Serengeti with Professor Beck. Heath, has been cursed to be a lion shifter after a poaching incident and he has been hired to be a guide to them. Heath doesn't believe that Rori has what it takes to survive and doesn't want her there she believes it is because of her weight. When they come across a deadly group of poachers they must do what they can to survive. This story was a little slow for me and didn't have a lot of romance it was more story driven and times my mind started to wander and I have to go back and reread some paragraphs. The climax was good but I was left with questions.I received a copy of this book for a honest review...

I really really liked this book. It tells the story of a lion shifter in a TOTALLY DIFFERENT LIGHT. Helena Shaw has written a book that has you not only holding your breath in fear for the characters involved but you also can actually see things that are going on in Africa from her descriptions.Rori Prescott is headed to Africa to write her PHD with Dr Beck. Dr Beck is going to re-check and tag lions in the African wilderness. Their guide in this is new to Dr Beck and un-know to them he is a lion shifter.Like I mentioned earlier this is a new telling of the way a lion shifts and also how they act, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author in the future.

Just doesn't do anything for meWhen I start, I want to get wrapped up in the story and I then forget reality for a little bit. I should be swept away from the very beginning, but with Aurora's self pity, I am kept at bay. There is a difference from feeling sad and feeling sorry for yourself, and this particular girl is feeling sorry for herself from the very beginning, trying too hard to fit in, but her need to keep relationships at arms length contradicts her character. Heath isn't much better, but he prefers to keep the world away, and his homebody-like personality makes sense. The writing didn't float my boat.

Rori has been working towards her PhD and a trip to the Serengeti is the next stop for her. Heath is a man by day, lion by night thanks to a curse from a Shaman. He at first isn't interested in having her there, but they work past it. They have a lot of issues to over come and danger from different areas. I really liked that Rori didn't just melt down into a puddle of tears unable to move forward. She has a ton of inner strength and used it to their advantage without even thinking about it.I was given an arc for an honest review. This was also my first book by Helena Shaw, but it won't by my last.

I received a copy for an honest review. I'll be honest, I've long loved shifter novels, foxes, coyotes, werewolves, bears. This is the first time I've read a lion shifter and hopefully not the last. Rori is a young, motivated woman headed to Africa to study lions with a mentor. Once there she meets their guide, Heath, secretly a lion shifter.Beyond that, I don't want to spoil the story for you. There are twists and turns you don't expect. Not to mention some seriously hot storytelling. You can tell that Helena did a lot of research into the story she was telling which translated into a fantastic story. I hope there is opportunity for her to explore the story more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!!. This is the first book I have read by this author and I was not disappointed. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next but not wanting it to end. Rori is going on an adventure and getting away from her mother who constantly puts her down. She meets the guide Heath. Things don't start out on a good foot but as the suspense builds in the story line so does the attraction. Things get a sexy, steamy, and even a little romantic. A really great read.I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.

I have just finished reading Pride. It is very well written. The story was interesting and riveting. As I read both sides of Rori and Heath lives I started to see how similar they were. You saw how Heath's opinion of Rori changed and vise versa. Over all a very good read. Would be interesting to see a follow up book about their new life. Maybe they are drawn to others like Heath. If perhaps the powers that be let Heath know that he has to mark Rori ,to change her . Other darker forces either human or supernatural are working against them making a life for them all. Anthea

I really enjoyed this story. Rori finally gets away from her controlling mother and goes on her great adventure. A year in Africa to study the lions with Professor Beck. Heath is their tour guide. Heath has been cursed to be a lion shifter. Heath doesn't want Rori around. Rori sticks up for herself and stays. Raul - Heath's old partner is the bad guy and is still hunting animals. Poor Prof Beck. Glad Raul got his in the end. Rori and Heath get their HEA.I was given an ARC for an honest review.

I loved the characters! Rori draws you in and you can really feel what she is feeling, and Heath is someone you can easily love. Rori is finally able to live her dream of studying lions in the Serengeti, but she gets more than she bargained for when she meets big and bold Heath. Heath is cursed to live as a lion at night, and human by day, never to be able to love or live in the human world. When they meet, misunderstandings cause strife between the two. But the attraction between then grows day by day, even with disagreements. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a shifter with a difference. Heath has gone from being a poacher and taking big money hunters to kill the animals to spending his life trying to protect the animals he has now become. Heath was cursed and now spends every night a s a lion, the animal he once used to kill. This story is about two lonely people coming to peace with their world, themselves and each other. A nice tale.I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
