She had learned to be brave even when her world was falling down around her ears, but it seemed she had found a place in the world where that was alright. She was alright. Her father hadn’t shunned her when she had flatly told him who she was, no, Ace had offered to let her go with him back to his world and Marty wanted to fit in there. A motorcycle club is no place for a too brainy college girl with a bad attitude, or so she thought, but they welcomed her. So what if they looked at her like a child. So what if the only real respect she got was because of her father…. She cared. She was determined to win the respect of the men her father called brothers even if it meant risking her own neck to do it. It would be fine… they promised she would be safe and even if she was somehow put in danger they had a safety net in place…. Mike Allen was a man who fought for the respect of his club and he had earned it with two bullets to the back. He had earned too much respect to let a bigmouthed hot head disrespect him in front of his brothers and get away with it…even if she was the sexiest woman he had ever laid eyes on. Even if he saw red every time a brother looked her way. No she wouldn’t get away with it and he couldn’t wait to teach her that lesson. Then he’s ordered on a job that could not only end his life, but that of the little dark haired hell cat. He was to be her safety net and even if she didn’t trust him, he would die to keep her safe, even if he had to watch her suffer to do it. Tension rises as Mike and Marty fight to overcome disasters that would tear normal people apart, but they aren’t normal people, they are Defenders and they will survive. ...

before I give my review, I can't ignore the fact that this series needs some more editing. This is the first sentence : "Mike quietly made his way along the darkened path that led to back to the little that sat near the street." There were a couple of times words were missing and names were incorrect. 3.5 starsI like this series. I'd read the previous book awhile ago so I wasn't sure I could jump back into it, but I had no problem. Marty has a bit of a bad time in this book, you know one thing that is going to happen as it was sent up in the previous book and I felt her loss. She is much tougher than anyone could have imagined. Marty really had no idea of Mike's feelings for her. These books are short, so of course there is a bit of time jumping and some missing details. I almost wish the author had chosen to make them longer so we could get more story. Having said that I am still happy with the story we got.
Needs some editing but loved it
Make sure you have tissues! sigh
DisappointedNot up to usual standard. Couldn't get close to either character. The bad guys were Huber bad, unbelievable to a great extent. The good guys were wishy washy with no redeeming qualities. Hope for better with next book.
Omg so much pain in this book, yes I'll still say it was a short book but OMG it was awesomeThis book still needs lots of edits
