A light read. Now superagent Hale, along with sister Kennedy, Walter, and the rest of his crew decide to steal the wealth of their former spy organization to bolster their mission to do good work, not evil. This leads them to Switzerland, and a bumbling, but enterprising banker, who is being blackmailed with the threatened exposure of his non-purebred Tibetan mastic. The dog is one of the highlights of the book, which is a fun adventure, with Hale still worried about his parents priorities and deeds.

The Inside Job by Jackson Pearce is a mystery or spy story. Hale is trying to steal money from the SRS. But, this will not be a easy peasy job. Will Hale (and the other guys with him) be able to steal the money from SRS and not be caught? The main characters are Hale and Kennedy. If you like spy books or mystery's. I have no connections. This was a good book. This book surprised me.

ARC from Baker and TaylorAfter Hale realizes in Doublecross that Sub Rosa Society is evil and the League is good, he and his friend Walter are joining forces with the League members to try to get money for the financially strapped organization by going to Switzerland and getting the money out of a bank there. They are stymied, however, because the teller is being blackmailed by SRS. They work out a deal with Hastings-- if they get forged papers for his Tibetan Mastiff Annabelle and get back jeweled books that were stolen for him, he will give them access to the money. Hale and his companions frolic around Europe, stealing golf carts, locating the clown Twinkle Meatloaf and generally getting into trouble, even running into Walter's mom. They eventually fulfill Hastings' wishes and get enough money for the League to do some renovations.Strengths: This was a lot of fun, and a good choice for readers who like comic crime novels like Horowitz's Diamond Brother Mysteries, Salane's Lawless, and other books where things blow up and children are on the run. While Hale is still portrayed as unathletic, there are not as many comments about his avoirdupois. Weaknesses: The first one hasn't been a hit in my library. The cover is cartoony in an elementary way that a middle school way. I'm not sure what all that entails, but it is a problem. What I really think: I got a copy of the first book at a book look. Will see if it circulates better in the coming year before I buy this second book.

Hale once worked for the spy organization SRS, where his parents worked too. Then he turned double agent once he realized SRS was really a crime organization. With his parents on the run, and him and his sister working for The League, Hale's life is a bit crazy. It's about to get even crazier when Hale comes up with a scheme to hit SRS where it hurts by stealing all their money. Can this team of child spies take down the biggest crime ring in the world? The Inside Job, written by Jackson Pearce, is full of mystery, intrigue, action and crazy gadgets, pretty much everything needed for a good spy story. Hale and his friends are young, but capable spies, and their adventures take many serious, as well as comical, turns. Lots of fun twists and crazy characters, make this a great read for children ages 8 and up. Hale is a great main character for boys to relate to, but girls will also enjoy the story as there are both super spy boys and girls. Thank you to Net Galley for a reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, even though I have not read the first in the series. It's a great book for young readers. Although the main character can sometimes be self-depreciating he is also aware of his worth in spite of the negative things he sometimes hears from his peers. This story shows the value of teamwork, forgiveness, and most importantly it illustrated that no matter how different a person is, they have something valuable to offer. I won a copy of this book from a goodreads giveaway.

Every bit as enjoyable as the first one! The whole book is such fun! The only reason I docked a star was for the time mix up toward the end--I'm still not even sure it was a mix up or I just got confused. Anyway, the issue with time was distracting enough that I had to stop reading and double check a previous chapter.Small hiccup, though, when compared to how wonderful the rest of it was!
