::: FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED :::: “I know I’m no good for you, that I should push you away, that I have no right to ask for a damn thing from you.” He pauses, the silence humming with unspoken words. “But I can’t help myself from wanting you anyway.”SQUEEEE!!!! I absolutely LOVED this book!!! I was hooked from the first page and didn’t want to put it down until the end. It was the perfect mix of everything I could want in an awesome romance!!! It was SEXY, SWOONY, SASSY, and SWEET, but also suspenseful, hilarious, emotional, and fast-paced. The feisty heroine had me laughing out loud over and over again, and the mysterious brooding Alpha hero stole my heart!!!“Because the only time the ghosts disappear from his eyes is when he’s looking at you.”It’s either a forbidden or unrequited love story (depending on whether you look at it from his or her perspective) and it’s loaded to the brim with rapid-fire epic banter, a witty and sarcastic inner monologue from the heroine, and a whole lot of heart-melting romance!!“Maybe he’s just… emotionally damaged and in need of a good woman to straighten him out.”“Now who’s the dim-witted one. Are you really falling for the damaged bad-boy trope?”“You know I have a weakness for pretty boys with secret pain.”The set-up of the story is that Phoebe has been in love with with Nate/Knox (same dude) since they were kids, but due to the unlucky fact that she happened to also be his best friend’s little sister, that put her firmly off-limits to him according to their bro code… Even though he’d always been drawn to her and despite always being there for her when she needed something, he never looked at her the way she wanted him to. To her, it seemed like he was never interested in her, especially since as soon as he was old enough, he left home to go be a professional badass with the Special Forces. She tried her best to move on over the years, but her heart just wouldn’t let go of its intense attachment to the one man she couldn’t have. But in the present day, when her life is put in danger, he suddenly steps back into her life to protect her…His eyes narrow. “I told you not to go out with O’Pry. You didn’t listen. You never listen.” His voice gets low, lethal. “This time, you’re going to listen, even if I have to handcuff you to my fucking bed.”“Hot,” Lila whispers under her breath.“Seriously,” Gemma agrees.I ignore them. And, for the first time ever, their feelings for each other come out into the open :)“Are you going to kiss me?” I ask quietly. He pauses. “Thinking about it.”I gulp and hope it’s not too obvious…“Are you weighing the pros and cons?” I ask, leaning into his touch.“Only cons here.” He shakes his head. “You and me… we’re a story that won’t have a happy ending. A tragedy. Nothing good comes from a tragedy.”“Well, maybe… Maybe I’d rather live in the wreckage with you for a while than fake a fairy tale with someone else forever.”The whole story is told from Phoebe’s POV, and it’s all in a present day timeline with no flashbacks (except one little scene when they first met as kids). And let me tell you, this girl is SO MUCH FUN!!! Omg. I totally want to be her BFF. Each chapter starts with this hilarious little pearl of wisdom from her that had me chuckling every time. Here are a few examples:I’VE HAD HUNDREDS OF BOYFRIENDS.SO WHAT IF THEY’RE FICTIONAL?DON’T YOU DARE JUDGE OUR LOVE.Phoebe West, on the many merits of book boyfriends.DID THE FIRST CATERPILLAR TO EVER CHANGE INTOA BUTTERFLY JUST TOTALLY FREAK THE HELL OUT?Phoebe West, pondering evolution.SOME PEOPLE BRAG ABOUT ONE NIGHT STANDS.WHATEVER. I’VE GOT TWO NIGHT STANDS.EITHER SIDE OF MY BED.Phoebe West, upon hearing her best friend lost her v-card after prom. You can absolutely, 100% read this as a complete standalone. That’s what I did. It is interconnected with the other standalone (below) but reading the other one is optional. You can either read them together or separately. I chose to read this alone and was fully satisfied and never confused and…. I LOVED IT!!!!“Because love, real love, the kind that lasts forever… it’s not patient or kind. Not pretty or perfect. It’s rough and hard as all hell. it’s ugly.” He steps closer, eyes never shifting from mine. “Love is holding someone’s filthy, tarnished heart in your hands and claiming it as yours anyway.”I highly recommend this if you’re looking for an AWESOME light-hearted romance that’ll have you swooning, laughing, and falling in love, mixed in with a dash of suspense!! It’s a TOP FAVORITE!Rating: 4.5 stars! *LIVE! AMAZON US * AMAZON UKCROSS THE LINE is gorgeously romantic with writing that's laced with sass, wit and charm and left me with a lovely warm feeling. It's about hope and longing, and unrequited love with a hint of the forbidden element all wrapped up in a dash of suspense with a heroine who faces unsuspecting danger. There are brilliant one liners that made me laugh out loud, inner thoughts that amuse and make the reader warm to the personality of the characters, especially the heroine. She's sassy, intelligent, witty, independent and somewhat inexperienced with men. I want to be best friends with Phoebe and for her to get her man! A man she's longed for since her childhood, a man who grew up as her brothers best friend. A man she's worshiped from afar. A man who may now need to protect her.Nathaniel Knox (NATE) is passionate, domineering and sexy. The heroine's reactions to him, along with his actions and dialogue, show the reader an intense aura that promotes his charismatic hero qualities. As the story arc develops, CROSS THE LINE engages the heart and evolves into the most luscious romance. I felt shock at certain moments and loved the smidgen of angst that works perfectly within the context of this light hearted, sweet romance with an element of danger. I'd recommend to all who enjoy Contemporary Romance with an element of intrigue. Advanced copy received for my honest review thoughts

4 “Little Bird” Stars. Phoebe is in love with Nate, her older brother best-friend, since she can remember. But Nate never even dared to act on in, not only because it’s not easy to have relationships with his life, he will not try anything with her best-friend little sister, as much as he wants to. But when Phoebe suddenly gets in danger and he steps up to protect her, things get harder to ignore. And both of them will eventually realize that some things aren’t meant to be hidden, even when danger follows them, This was a nice reading, sweet, funny, thrilling and with some sexy moments and a sexy hero. To be honest I didn’t loved it as much as the first one, since this one had a little less romance (the first part of the book was pretty much having monologues about Nate in her head), there was more action and mystery but in my opinion, not enough couple time. Other than that, a great book if you’re looking for a more thrilling romance with a nice couple and a good dose of humor and emotion. Rating:4 Stars. Characters Development:Phoebe was nice, and despite her annoying habit of having too much internal monologues, I liked how she didn’t hold a grudge and didn’t whine when she had all the reason to. She was feisty, fun and sweet and easy to like. Nate annoyed me in the beginning, and how he was fighting so hard to avoid something he didn’t actually had to although he more than made up for it towards the end. It was nice to see more of Gemma and Chase, and I’m really hoping for a Parker’s book. Steam:Some heated moments. 4.25 LMAO StarsThe above lil' image is a good rendition of me through pretty much the entire book. I don't have time to do this sweet and entertaining story justice but I'll give it a shot.He probably only dates bad girls. Perfect. I’m bad at pretty much everything.I loved Phoebe, her humor and her optimistic yet snarky outlook on life. Lila, the bff, better get her own HEA someday because her story's bound to be a good one. Nate took the phrase "strong, silent type" to unmatched levels but his sex on a stick goodness made up for it.True friends don’t judge one another. They judge other people. Together.I do think this could've easily been a 5 Star read for me if Phoebe and Nate had a little more time together. The first half of the book was a whole lot of Phoebe lamenting all things Nate internally with very little actual interaction between the two. Was it funny? You bet. It was also slightly unsatisfying.“Attempting to give a fuck…. Still attempting to give a fuck… one more time….” My eyes snap fully open. “Nope, sorry. No fucks given.”My vagina is a dog whistle for sociopaths.I’ve had hundreds of boyfriends. So what if they’re fictional? Don’t you dare judge our love.Ok, ok I'll quit! I haven't even broke the surface with the delicious snark this book offers up on a silver platter. This is the perfect book if you're in a negative nelly, crabypants kind of mood. No judging for using negative nelly or crabypants in a review, either!

4.5 starsI love this book! Absolutely hilarious but also incredibly deep and emotional with a bit of action and suspense, and a UST-laden, deliciously angsty romance that had my heart pounding. This book has it all! This book follows on from Not You It's Me but can definitely be read as a standalone. Phoebe West was introduced in the first book, and it was clear then that she had a thing for her older brother’s best friend, Nate. In this book we get to see her infatuation up close and personal, and it’s intense! Phoebe has loved Nate her whole life, but after ten years of him pretty much ignoring her and by doing so breaking her heart over and over, she decides that it’s time to try and move on.How do you stop wanting someone you’ve dreamed of for most of your life? He’s a habit I don’t know how to break.Nate is an ex-member of the Special Forces, and is a total badass now running his own ‘security’ business. He has always been a presence in Phoebe’s life but, unbeknownst to her, he made a deal with her brother that sisters are off limits so he has stayed away. But just as Phoebe tries to make the break, Nate starts showing up in her life warning her that she is in danger. And with the two of them around each other in a way they haven’t been in years, the chemistry between them is blisteringly hot. Lots of hot looks, heavy breathing and spark-inducing touches ensue, and the UST is EPIC!!!“Are you going to kiss me?” I ask quietly. He pauses. “Thinking about it.” I gulp and hope it’s not too obvious. I’m thinking about it too.. “Are you weighing the pros and cons?” I ask, leaning into his touch.“Only cons here, West.” He shakes his head. “You and me… we’re a story that won’t have a happy ending. A tragedy. Nothing good comes from a tragedy.” “Well, maybe…” I grit my teeth so I don’t say something I’ll regret, and take a steadying breath. “Maybe I’d rather live in the wreckage with you for while than fake a fairy tale with someone else forever.”But this isn’t a wham-bam-thank-you-mam situation. No, Nate has been through hell in his life and he has demons that he needs to deal with, and it’s an emotional journey as he comes to terms with everything that he’s feeling.“The only time the ghosts disappear from his eyes is when he’s looking at you.”I love the way Phoebe and Nate’s relationship progressed!! There is no ‘let’s screw and get it out of our system’ going on, no OTT alpha claiming, and no ridiculous game playing. This is the establishment of a real relationship, and while there is some angst, it’s realistic and serves only to build the excitement and deepen the emotional intensity between them as they hash out their issues, and there is sensational character development as they build something incredibly special. It’s beautifully done! “Love, real love, the kind that lasts forever… it’s not patient or kind. Not pretty or perfect. It’s rough and hard as all hell. It’s ugly.” He steps closer, eyes never shifting from mine. “Love is holding someone’s filthy, tarnished heart in your hands and claiming it as yours anyway.”The accompanying storyline ties in perfectly to the love story. The danger that Phoebe is in is very real, and the action, suspense and excitement is fantastic as it all unfolds. But as deep and meaningful as this story is, it’s also really light-hearted. Phoebe’s inner thoughts are so freaking funny as she analyses everything going on in her life. I’m usually not a fan of too much inner monologue, but this one is so well done, I enjoyed every moment of it! True friends don’t judge one another. They judge other people. Together. There’s also a really nice check in with Gemma and Chase from the first book, and I enjoyed the opportunity to see them again, and I really like how they tied into the story. And I loved Phoebe’s brother, Parker, and her kind-hearted yet totally slutty and inappropriate BFF Lila just adds to the hilarity.“Frankly, this whole pining-from-afar, I-hate-your-guts-but-I’d-like-to-ride-your-face thing you’ve got going is not working for you.” “That was… visual.”This book is the full package – funny, intense, emotional, exciting and beautifully romantic with a bit of action and suspense on the side. It’s great fun, and I loved it. I’m so excited for more - Parker and Tink are up next!!4.5 stars.

**Cross the Line generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**5 ”You want to hear something crazy?” StarsI’m a TOTAL Julie Johnson fangirl. With each book she releases, Johnson continually dazzles me with her cleverly crafted stories. Cross the Line gives us another comedic, contemporary romance in only a way Julie Johnson can write. I couldn’t put it down once I started and read it in one sitting. This book comes as the second in her Boston Love series but can be read as a standalone although I personally don’t recommend it since you’d be missing out on Chase & Gemma’s excellent story in Not You It’s Me where we also meet the heroine of Cross the Line. Witty and intelligently written the words just flow across the pages of this book making it impossible to put down the love story of Phoebe West and Nathaniel Knox. Julie Johnson makes reading so simple with her stories. It’s effortless to become enamored in the plot right from the start. You’ll laugh, you’ll swoon, and you’ll fall in love with her words and her zany characters. The way the book is plotted takes you on an adventure. So vivid the words on the page they play like a rom-com movie in your mind. I can see Phoebe’s nervous gestures that punctuate her wit. Nate’s uber alpha mojo vibrates from the pages with the exact intensity as Phoebe describes. Since the book is told solely from the heroine’s first person point of view, we feel this quite often. Phoebe West and Nathaniel Knox have known each other since childhood. Phoebe’s unrequited crush on Nate spans over many years with many blundering failed attempts to get his attention. Until Phoebe goes on a date with a dangerous man for whom Nate warns her away. From there hilarity, perfectly-timed snark, true feelings, passion, and a cat-and-mouse game of fun and danger ensues. With a colorful cast of secondary characters, including Chase and Gemma from Not You It’s Me, Phoebe takes us on the crazy journey that is her life. At the beginning of each chapter is a little Phoebe or Nate anecdote that made me giggle every time. I feel it important to note as it helps enhance the personalities of each character. Full of antics and fun twists and turns Cross the Line is yet another prime example of this author’s penchant for excellent story telling. Her characters are always perfectly suited, their personalities shine through the writing making them completely compatible. Julie Johnson also always writes a quirky, down-to-earth heroine that I want to befriend. Phoebe’s honesty in her emotions, her rambling, her sadness, her humor all resonate with me on a basic level. I understand her plight and I root for her through the entire story. And Nathaniel Xavier Knox? Holy wow. Told from Phoebe’s perspective really ramps up the alpha bad ass levels of Nate. He’s the man you want stalking towards you, pinning you the wall with his heated stare. He’s the man you feed all your fiery sass to because deep down you know he loves it just as much as you love zinging it at him. Phoebe presents to Nathaniel Knox a challenge. Actually Phoebe provides him the biggest, most rewarding challenge of his life. Watching this controlled man come to terms with that fact, a fact he’s held dormant for many years, was beyond satisfying. This is the first of Johnson’s books where her hero was an all-consuming, demanding, bossy, more in-your-face alpha who bottles his feelings until the exact PERFECT moments when he lets it out in all his alpha male glory. I’m telling you Phoebe West’s reaction to those moments were pure gold. Because like her, as the reader, I was liquid – a melted puddle of gooey warm heat in my reading heart. If you like comedic, contemporary romances with adventure and wit brilliantly woven into great characters and a fun plot Cross the Line most definitely will work for you along with its counterpart the first standalone of the Boston Love series, Not You It’s Me. Infused with a precise kind of humor, a great plot, clever characters, and awesome pop-culture references, Johnson creates uniquely refreshing stories that I anticipate with bated breath from the time she announces her works in progress until their release. She’s one of my favorite authors. When I need good pick-me-up, a good laugh in my reading life I always revert back to one of her stories. Julie Johnson stories are good for the romance reading soul. Cross the Line will make you laugh, it’ll melt your heart, and it’ll you remind you why you love a good love story. Another Bravo-job-well-done for you, Julie Johnson. You rocked it again! My 5 star review for Not You It's Me can be found here.

3.5 StarsCross the Line had me in stitches from the very beginning. I laughed out loud all throughout the story but most especially during the first half. Phoebe was a wonderful narrator. Listening to her thoughts and actions kept me thoroughly entertained. She's rich girl who was so adorably sweet and in love with her brother's best friend, Nate, for half her life but he barely seemed to tolerate. Now that she's graduated college she's determined to move on with her life. But her first few dates don't go quite as planned but one benefit she never saw coming: Nate finally seems to notice her. As she stumbles through the dating scene and trying to keep her independence with Nate breathing down her neck, hilarity ensues along with just a bit of danger. While I loved the first half, I was hoping for more in the relationship aspect in the second half. Nate was kind of always present but mostly in the background until 70%. I just wanted a bit more of them together and more of Nate so I could understand his motivations better. But with some fabulous side characters and side plots playing out, I was entertained all the way through the end. This was my first Julie Johnson book I've read but I really excited for more.

2 starsSo positives. I thought it was an engaging read. The romance was quite cute and the authors writing style is fun at times. What didnt sit well with me? Well, if I have to wait (view spoiler)[87 (hide spoiler)]% before they have sex I'm not happy. I thought a few of the characters acted quite childish, some parts were a bit far fetched and honestly I thought it was quite pathetic that she was pinning after the guy for TEN years!!!

It was an ok read but I got really annoyed with her for panting after him and more or less doing all the chasing. Nothing wrong with the book but I prefer the hero to do the chasing.

2.5 starsreread24-year-old virgin who had a huge crush on her brother's BFF. 24!!! Uhg! 😭And he was in love with her for over 10 years, but tried everything to forget her. Argh! 😤But I must admit the girl was fierce, I wish she was more action than words, but at least she was vocal. And she was persistent, damn, it was worth to read the book only to witness how she fought to make him take her virginity. Holly molly, I almost jumped in the book to help her, to sedate him or smth so she could have her way with him!Atta girl! 😨 *sarcasm*

5 – Turtle doves mate for life – Starshttps://veronikasreaderfeeder.wordpre...ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest reviewIt seems that Julie Johnson simply can’t write a book which doesn’t glue me to my Kindle. :D From the moment I started reading, I was hooked and I loved every single line of this book. It was really entertaining and funny with great cast of characters and with powerful emotions. This book contained everything what a perfect book needs: good sense of humor, big plot twists, heart-melting romance, sexy hotness, an alpha-male and a really funny, stubborn heroine. The story starts with the scene as a little girl sits under a tree crying over a dead bird and the lonely “wife bird”. This is when the new boy next door shows up and comforts her. After that a thigh bond forms between them. Nate and Phoebe’s brother, Parker instantly become best friends but this is one of the reasons why Phoebe’s crush on Nate stays platonic. In the present Phoebe is 24 years old and she lost the connection with Nate several years ago, when he decided that he joins the Special Forces. But after these years Phoebe still can’t let him go. One night Nate shows up again in Phoebe’s life and despite it seems that he is completely indifferent for her, Phoebe’s feelings – no matter how much she denies – reignites with renewed vigor. The question is if she will have the opportunity and the courage to “cross that line” with him? This book was really-really good! The banter between Phoebe and Nate was unforgettable and I loved them so much! Phoebe is an outstanding heroine and I loved every silly thought of her. Nate was a really mysterious and powerful character who is also found his way into my heart. He has a really great sense of humor, too, and his bossy character was also very entertaining. Parker and Phoebe’s dog, Boo was so-so memorable, I loved every scene of them. I think it is a special talent of Julie Johnson that she could create a so funny character for a DOG! :D I laughed so much of him. The plotline was really twisting (like usually… I freaking love every single book of the author! :D) I would have really liked if Phoebe’s gift with the violin would got more attention, but the book was perfect this way, too.One of my favorite parts of the book were the “fake-wisdoms” before each chapter. These were not exactly related to the plot, but they were really funny! :D Julie Johnson has a brilliant sense of humor but she also can conjure beautiful emotional moments on the pages. I read this entire book with a goofy smile on my face. :) I laughed a lot, I was on the edge because of the twists and turns and I just couldn’t put it down. Thank you very much Julie Johnson that you gave me again a book which also landed on my ‘favorite shelf’. :)P.S.: It was really funny, that Conor from Say the Word and Erasing Faith showed up again in this book. :D I see what you’ve done there. :DMy Favorite Quotes From the Book“But loving someone isn’t about wanting them to evolve into someone better. My mom taught me that. Real love is saying: here, take my still-beating heart and hold it in your hands and please, please, please, promise not to squeeze too tight or drop it on the pavement. Love is being naked and afraid, but refusing to flinch. It’s not asking that person to change; it’s trusting them enough not to. And it’s not even about needing them to love you back equally; it’s just about loving them for who they are.”“He’s a candle throwing faint light… and Nate’s the sun — eclipsing everything else, pulling me into his orbit.”“Can you die of a broken heart?A tear-stained little girl asked that question to a boy on the grass beside her almost twenty years ago. He didn’t know the answer. Neither of us did. Not then. But I know now. (…) Our world is a hypochondriac’s nightmare and a survivalist’s dreamland. Anything can kill you. Anything. Even a broken heart.”“I USED TO THINK IT WOULD BE COOL TO READ OTHER PEOPLE’S MINDS. THEN I JOINED FACEBOOK. Phoebe West, defending her techno-phobic life choices”“With every kiss, every stroke, every gasp, he embeds himself deeper in my soul. Until I can’t think of anything but him, of the inevitability of this moment between us. It’s been written in my stars since I was five years old with a crush on the older, off-limits boy next door.”“TRUE FRIENDS DON’T JUDGE ONE ANOTHER. THEY JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE. TOGETHER. Phoebe West, ruminating on friendship.”“I may not know everything.” I bite the inside of my cheek so hard I taste blood. “But I do know what love is.” “You know a definition in a dictionary. You know a fucking proverb — love is patient love is kind. That’s bullshit. Because love, real love, the kind that lasts forever… it’s not patient or kind. Not pretty or perfect. It’s rough and hard as all hell. It’s ugly.” He steps closer, eyes never shifting from mine. “Love is holding someone’s filthy, tarnished heart in your hands and claiming it as yours anyway.”“ENOUGH WITH THE SEX POSITIONS. WHY CAN’T MAGAZINES PUBLISH AN ARTICLE ABOUT READING POSITIONS THAT DON’T GET UNCOMFORTABLE AFTER FIVE MINUTES? Phoebe West, while perusing an issue of COSMO.”“You won’t get over him until you’ve taken him for a spin.” “What do you mean?” She glances up at the ceiling, as if seeking guidance. “God, it’s like talking to Rory Gilmore, season one. Except she had more sense when it came to boys.““I’VE HAD HUNDREDS OF BOYFRIENDS. SO WHAT IF THEY’RE FICTIONAL? DON’T YOU DARE JUDGE OUR LOVE. Phoebe West, on the many merits of book boyfriends”***These quotes may contain SPOILERS!***“Frankly, it’s none of your fracking business who I date!” “Fracking?” “And furthermore,” I barrel on, ignoring his amused question. “These are not fu… fu…” I swallow hard. “They are not those kind of heels.” His mouth tugs up at one side and the sight of it makes my heart skip a beat. “Can’t say the word fuck, West?” He sounds vastly entertained by the idea. My cheeks heat. Oh, I can, all right. I just worry that if I say fuck me while you’re standing so close, my body willdisobey orders and wrap around you like a tree frog.“Do you remember what we vowed? After we buried the bird?” His hands slide up the bare skin of my back. “I said you’d never catch me falling in love,” he whispers, voice rough around the edges. “Because I wasn’t going to risk dying of a broken heart.” I nod slowly. “And I agreed it wasn’t worth the risk.” A small grin tugs at my mouth. “Then again, I would’ve agreed with almost anything you said — you were much older and wiser, with vast life experience and extensive song-lyric knowledge.” “What do you mean were?” he jokes. “I’m still older and wiser and my music collection has only expanded, through the years.” (…) “Thing is…” I swallow. “I broke the vow we made that day.” His heart pounds faster — I feel it vibrating through his ribcage. “Did you, little bird?” “Yeah.” I nod miserably, doing my best to fight back the tears building behind my eyes. “I said I wasn’t ever going to fall in love, but…” I swallow hard. “I did.” He’s silent for the longest five seconds of my lie. “You want to hear something crazy?” he says finally. I nod. “I broke that vow the day we made it.”For more of my reviews please visit my blog: https://veronikasreaderfeeder.wordpre...

"He grinned and Ruffled my hair like I was an adorable-but-idiotic golden retriever" HA!!I liked this book, I laughed out loud often and loved reading about poor Phoebe embarrassing stories! It got a little repetitive, the constant back and forth between Nate and Phoebe was exhausting! All in all I laughed and loved the characters!

Please keep continuing this series, please! I love the living fuck out of Phoebe. She may be a billionaire heiress, but I basically live her awkward, clumsy, uncoordinated life. I was laughing out loud at all the little puns and jokes - lame as they may be. So yeah, Parker next? Lila? Any number of people, really. You write, I'll read.

This story made me fall in love from the start! Everyone who knows me a bit knows I love birds so this was a fantastic start a bit sad but fantastic!A few things that stayed with me while reading. This one's for the girls who laugh a little too loud and fall a bit too fast. The ones who believe in soul mates and second chances. Who break their own rules and chase their own destinies. Never stop.I was a bit scared to start this one, because there are so many brothers best friend books that there isn't always a surprise in them but this one was so much more. This one isn't the typical love best friend of brother but he doesn't approve kind of story. It was so much more that the brother's best friend. It had a dark touch to it, but it also made me laugh my ass of. Nate is the perfect kind of H, he is a bit dark but not so much. Some people brag about one night stands. Whatever. I've got two night stands. Either side of my bed. This was so damn funny! This is just a preview of how funny Phoebe truly is!"You know, as a general rule, if you're going to act like total dicks, you should wear condoms over your heads."I think lot's of my book-friends think the same wayI've had hundreds of boyfriends. So what it they're fictional? Don't you dare judge our love.

I really enjoyed this book! Funny, suspenseful and sweet - I loved Nate and Phoebe! My only minor complaints are that (view spoiler)[ I wanted an epilogue and more sexy times - the sexual tension between these two was hot but I desperately needed more steam (hide spoiler)] I can't wait for the next book in this series!

It started out fine. It was funny and I enjoyed the sexual tension between Nate and Phoebe, but then it became way too cheesy in the end.

I just don't understand what the purpose of this book was other than to sell books. it took 3 days for me to finish this one. Altough i love reading in bed till late hours of the night, it was like a real good sleeping pill. The book was written without a plot and written daily. Because of this daily writing (without an actual fiction)book was disconnected. It was written just pheebes pov so i couldnt connect with nate or her brother or her father. I didnt feel the love and passion between nate and pb.While im reading this book all i could think about was writers thoughts while writing this book. I couldnt help my self laughing. Lets write a romance novel. First we need a boy and a girl (check) %40 of the book was about PB's love and moaning for nate.Than out of no where she has been kidnapped. Than rescued by a hacker(what a useless character ın the book) İt was dangerous for her to live in her apartment so nate made her pack her bag and travel out of town untıl state is clear (again out of no where). She packs 3 hıgh heel shoes???? Than shoes become the object of the book hahhahahaha ı skıpped alot ın that stage. While they should go out of state (because heyyy mobs are following her!!!) they went to pb's surprise birthday party whaaatttt???And at the party she learned she has a half sister and that scene which all of them hold hands ı couldnt stand anymore of this bullshit. I know Im new in this rewiev writing thing and i dont want to insult anyones writing. I guess writing a book takes days and nights of hard work so i gave 2 stars.

5 starsThis book was fantastic, after reading "Not You It's Me" I couldn't wait for this book and Cross The Line didn't disappoint. I loved Phobe and her personality she came with a funny dog named Boo and while being gorgeous she had her insecurities as well. Nate was an alpha male, so if you don't like them don't read this book, and while he was distant I found he an interesting character and although I wouldn't call him likeable - because we don't really get to know him all that well - I liked him. I love dual POV books and find that I prefer them to just the single POV stories but this is a single POV story that I loved, and you did get to learn of Nate's feelings and while it was predictable it was still great. I loved the support characters and it was great getting to see Chase and Gemma again. I am dying for Parkers book and his heroine has to be Tinkabelle from this book... I can't wait to find out who she is! I would love to see a spin off series to this with the boys from Nate's security company - yay for hot alpha males - and maybe we will get to see Lila get her own story, maybe some male will tie her down! So if you haven't read this author before I would definitely give her a try, I did and I found a new must read author, you can read this book without reading Not You It's Me but I think you will enjoy this book more if you read it first because it gives you background for this story.

Cross the Line had so many tropes I don't like, but it was moderatly entertaining because of how ditzy Phoebe was and its overall ridiculousness. Parker and Boo were my favorite characters.

I'm a sucker for the "brothers best friend" storyline so I was sold pretty much from the get-go! Sweet & fluffy, definitely will lift your spirits if you've just read a really angsty one!

Frack.Holy Frack!Frack Frack Frack.Fracking.Oh. My. God:Crap on whole wheat, extra pickles.Crap on pumpernickel with peanut butter.Crap on Wonder bread.Crap on asiago focaccia.SERIOUSLY:I'm all for quirks and catchphrases to an extent...but sometimes, enough is enough.I'll admit that I laughed. A lot of this book was really funny. But it's all-heroine POV and it felt, at times, like the author was trying too hard to make Phoebe likable. I also found myself a little bit curious about Gemma's story, then realized that Gemma's story is probably a lot like Phoebe and I'd just be setting myself up for another story that's only...okay. Tinkerbell was probably the best character in the book (aside from Nate) and she had Phoebe pegged: "This is what I get for trying to save a life. The most annoying fucking rescue victim of all time." You said it, Tink. The stupidity was rolling out of Phoebe's mouth like vomit. Though I'm not sure what a rescue victim is exactly. The steam is PG-13 at it's raunchiest. So...not raunchy, explicit, titillating or even interesting in any way. This book is more comedy than anything. It could have been a 5 star if there was less Phoebe (a lot less) and more Nate and if the sex was amped up just a smidge.Nate was awesome--or at least he had tons of potential to be awesome. He stayed pretty one-dimensional even if he did get to have lines like this: "I owed you a dance," he says simply, like it should've been obvious."There's no music."His lips brush my ear. "Put your head on my chest."I do."You hear my heartbeat?"I nod, cheek rubbing the fabric of his shirt."It's beating for you, little bird," he murmurs, holding me closer. "That can be our music.""But you can't hear mine," I whisper, voice cracking. He pauses. "I can hear it, Phoebe. I hear it in my soul. I set my life by its every beat."* sigh* That line alone was worth reading this book! :)I was bored for the first 45% then spent the next 55% alternately irritated and interested. I think a lot of readers will find this so funny that the lukewarm romance won't really be an issue, so I think rating this a 2-star would be being a bit peevish. 3 is where I'm settling.

Let me start out by saying I really really LOVED Julie Johnson's Like Gravity and Not You It's Me. Maybe that's why my expectations for Cross The Line were so high. Unfortunately, this did not work out for me. I kept balancing between utter frustration had almost had me DNFing several times and enjoyment as there were some heartfelt moments. However, 80% of the time I was frustrated. The main reason being the two MCs.Phoebe West has been in love with Nate since forever and has done everything imaginable and highly embarrassing to gain his attention. Each time Nate has shut her down without leaving an inkling of hope that he might have any romantic interest in her. Now, at age 24 she has FINALLY come to conclusion that she's had enough! Yay... I thought, now we're getting somewhere. The woman DOES have some pride.. Ehh.. NO! Instead she (with the encouragement of her very unsympathetic best friend Lila) decides to try and seduce him through scheming and mind games.. Oh c'mon! At one point they even consider putting her in danger, because that seems to lure Nate out of hiding. Seriously?! What is wrong with you people? She is portrayed as a funny and feisty character, but to me her humour fell flat.. Her constant ramblings and funny jokes came at the wrong time and most often ruined a potentially heartfelt moment. Particularly, during very vulnerable and serious moments where I thought, now is her time to express to Nate exactly how deeply he's hurt her, and then she starts her "funny" ramblings and the moment is lost. The other MC, Nate, I did not get.. At all. I'm still not quite sure what he does for a living, how his upbringing was and why he felt the need to stay away from Phoebe. To be honest, it might have been described in the book but it wasn't given a lot of attention, because I'm sure I would have noticed it. I really didn't skim that much. Nate is brooding, taciturn and... Oh, that's it.. Not much else. Not particularly nice or engaging, except for a few moments as a kid, so why Phoebe was so in love with him, I have no idea.Just a really annoying moment I have to highlight, and then I'll stop.Phoebe has returned to her family after being kidnapped and beaten and the first thing her brother, Parker, who she is very close to and hasn't seen in 8 months, does is joke around and laugh about how she looks like shit....Nuff said.

**ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. **Witty, HILAROUS, passionate, real, powerful, sexy, breath taking, and completely amazing  All words I would use to describe Julie Johnson’s latest novel Cross The Line. It kept me up until the wee hours of the morning and left me with a major book hangover. I seriously cannot get over this novel. I’m on fangirl overload. Up until this point Erasing Faith had been my favorite JJ book and I was waiting for the day she wrote a book to knock it out of first place. Well that day has come! Cross The Line is everything you would come to expect from a JJ novel the suspense, the well-rounded heroine that speaks to your soul, and the beautiful writing style that can only be accomplished by Julie Johnson herself, but that only scratches the surface with this one. It begins with a young Phoebe crying over the dead “wife bird” who fell out of a tree and who better to, in his way, comfort her than her next door neighbor Nathaniel Knox. And this was one of my favorite moments.  Seriously it is HILAROUS! That’s when the passionate longing for him begins, but sadly he is determined to keep the relationship platonic. Now 24 she has been trying since that day to get over him, hate him, pretend he doesn’t exist, but nothing can break her undying love for him. Her heart refuses to beat for anyone but him. I love how electric and passionate the air between the two are when they share a page. It was so passionate I forgot to breath. Phoebe is by far my favorite character that JJ has written because she is 100% real. She’s a sassy stubborn fashionista dealing with unrequited love that any girl can relate too. And Nathaniel Knox? Holy sexy alpha male, Batman!! He is the strongest most mysterious man Julie has created and I ate him up with every word. He is very much the controlled strong silent type and I loved seeing him break and finally express his love and need for Phoebe! This book needs to be on your shelves! And I wish there was more stars to give this book because it’s like a 15 out of 5! LOL But seriously Julie congratulations on another AMAZING novel!! Looking forward to the next!

*ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*Julie Johnson does it again!!! 5+++ stars for this amazing book! I swear Julie can do no wrong. Every single book she releases is better then the last, and this one is my favorite! I have a soft spot for brothers best friend love stories, and this one does not disappoint! There is something so beautiful and innocent about a love that starts off as young children and spans all the way until adulthood. Its magical! And like all of Julie's stories, the characters are just wonderful. I don't know how she does it, but every personality is so unique and awesome, you can't help but fall in love with each character. You even love the secondary characters (which make the book that much better!!) Phoebe West, what a beautiful heroine. She is down to earth, hilarious, kind hearted, and goes off on amazing rants, not to mention her talks with her little dog :) :) And Nathaniel Knox, um yumm! He is dark and broody, a perfect alpha bad ass! But he is also so sweet and his love for Phoebe is so intense (in a good way!) The interactions between these main characters was my favorite. It was so intense and hot and passionate, just like their love for each other! They really drove each other crazy and it was hilarious/hot to read. I also loved the suspense aspect of the book. It made the book that much more interesting and really brought the story to another level. I always love that there is no cheating or stupid nonsense going on in Julie's books. The whole book was just excellent and I will defiantly be reading it again! If you like hilarious contemporary romance books with suspense and amazing characters, this book is for you!! GREAT WORK JULIE!!!! I am a fan for life! Ps: another thing i LOVE about Julie's books, is she always introduces secondary characters that you love soo much, that you hope and pray she writes a book about them next! That always gives me something to look forward too, and I love that! On that note, I NEED "Tinkerbell" and Parkers story next!! Like ASAP :) :)Kortney G.

*insert witty/beautifully worded compliment here*^^I'm really beginning to run out of ways to compliment this author. And yet, she's delivered another 5-star read.I could give a detailed summary and analysis of this book, praising each and every aspect, but I won't. However, there is one thing I will say. After reading this book, and each and every book this author has written before it, one thing is abundantly clear: ***Julie Johnson is the Queen of Heroines!***She is INCAPABLE of creating a heroine I don't love. As someone who is admittedly hypercritical of heroines, I am repeatedly and genuinely stunned to find that, upon completion of each of Julie's novels, the heroine was my FAVORITE part. Heroines have the ability to make or break a book for me. More times than not, I find a great book only to end up hating it, because the female lead was just a flat-out nightmare and total displeasure to read about. That is not the case here. All of Julie's heroines are well-written characters. They are not perfect women who never make mistakes, nor are they irreparably broken/damaged damsels in distress. They are, essentially, 'real' women. She creates your average, everyday, ordinary, nothing-special-about-me woman. And she does it BRILLIANTLY!
