After recently finishing Relentless Pursuit, the first book in the Kelly Mclean series, I was so impressed I jumped right into this one. I’m happy to say that this is another superbly crafted novel. Not only is Kelly now relegated to the Keys, but his emotional disarray and new troubles have gotten him into new difficulties that have furthered the development of his character. I just finished reading it last evening and I am happy to say that it’s a worthy follow-up. Getting to know Kelly in this novel has further cemented my love of the character. Even though he has struggled with the loss of his family and in no way wants to get back into the bureaucratic nightmare of the police force, something new hooks him in once more. To see him step back into the game after falling into disheveled disarray was enjoyable to see. Also, the sporadic elements of humor and brevity are always welcome. A great example was the old woman Ms. Jenkins going on about a man grabbing her panties. I recall laughing aloud as she discussed that with the newswoman. Another note is that the story is vividly illustrated in Key West, a location that I know and miss. Also, the heightening possibility of love between Megan and Kelly has definitely created new dynamics (and humor for Owen) that I look forward to reading about in the next book. Now that I’ve developed and addiction to this series, I just hope that the next one won’t be a long time coming.

Burn Notice: Another fast-paced action thriller by Nate HawkAnother Kelly Maclean series that is just as entertaining as the first. And as in the first book, the writing is fresh and exciting. Here we follow Kelly’s character development as he takes on new challenges and fights new fights. At times it felt like the action in this book was even more intense! You’ll also find great friendships and a bit of romance here. This is definitely a worthy follow up to Relentless Pursuit. Now I’m looking forward to the next books in this series!

Fast moving thrillerA well told mostly believable action/thriller novel with some humor. The Key West setting adds a nice exotic touch to the story. Mix in rouge elements of the CIA, a motorcycle gang, drug dealers, the mob, a crooked, somewhat dense, congressman, civil war reenactors and hold on for the ride. Editing and grammar problems are minimal, though the author occasionally has a little trouble selecting the proper pronoun.
