RATING CLARIFICATION : 3.5 STARSI'm not to sure where to start with this review. I guess let me start by saying this book wasn't what I expected it to be. From reading some of the other reviews I was expecting a light hearted funny love story. This book was pretty lighthearted and a quick read, but I think the love story really kind of took a back seat in this story. With that said I did enjoy reading this book and it is a book that is great for a lazy day at the beach. It's definitely a book that can be finished in a day. I will say that the story was interesting and very well written and flowed well.I think one thing I had a problem with while reading this story was just that I couldn't connect with the characters. I did like Emma as a female character. She was very goal orientated and focused on her career, which kind of came off as closed off in the beginning of the book. Which is why I think I had a hard time connecting to her. We really never saw another side of Emma until closer to the end of the book. Now being that I said this was a love story, Guy was the hero of the story....I didn't connect with him very well because like I said their love story really took a back seat to the story of Emma's secret and career ambitions. I think had we seen Guy in the story more and had a little more character developement with him, he could've been an amazing hero. What we do learn about Guy I really liked....he was a very sweet guy. This story did have a couple other side stories going on as well. So I did like the secondary characters of the story. Howard, Emma's bff was a strong pillar of strength for Emma, he was supportive of her with everything she chose and she of him. I was glad to see things worked out well for Howard in the end with both Emma and his parents. Jayne was also another side story. She was Emma's closest girlfriend. I felt that her character was a little selfish in the beginning, but I was glad to see her character develop more as the story went on. I was also glad she made the decisions she made in the end.Overall after everything is said I did actually like the book. Right from the beginning you know that Emma has a secret that she is hiding and doesn't want anyone to find out about. I really wish that secret would've come out a little sooner in the story because then I think the love story between Emma and Guy could've been expanded on. Finding out so late in the book about Emma's secret really kind of made the ending slightly rushed. I think that is really the only major issue I had with this book.I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light hearted summer beach read. It's got some romance but also has a twist to the story that you don't really see coming.**Copy kindly provided by author in exchange for honest review****Reviewed for

February is typically a month when I succumb to my “girlie-ness” and read more love stories, women’s lit, romantic comedies, and other such books often stamped as “Chick Lit”. I don’t buy into that name by the way! This February I had the opportunity to try out Lia Fairchild’s newest book, The Tech Guy. Have I mentioned lately that Lia is my favorite Indie author? If not, I am now. I’ve read several of her novels and I haven’t been disappointed yet!In this story, Fairchild broaches some new ground. The Tech Guy starts as an innocent, romantic comedy. The protagonist, Emma, has worked hard to get where she is in the career of her dreams and sudden changes involving a new, sexy man in the office make her fearful that she may lose her ground. With a seemingly perfect marriage and a troubled past, Emma is a poster-child for Women’s Lit; however, by the end, Fairchild throws out a little surprise and I thought it was quite a nice surprise – I think readers will be delighted when they discover the secret Emma hopes no one will ever reveal.Guy, the sexy, new man in the office is everything a good February/Valentine’s day read needs. He’s hot, caring, funny, and smart. Oh, and did I mention he makes Emma utterly anxious and a bit spastic? He’s the new “tech guy” after all and digging around in company info and behind the scenes details may just uncover that pesky little secret I wrote about above that Emma wants to keep hidden! In addition to this main story, Fairchild did a good job of weaving in little subplots and side stories to make sure readers get to know her full cast of characters, who are all, by the way, endearing and fun to follow. If you’re looking for a light, humorous, fun, heart-warming yet thought-provoking story to kick off your Valentine’s Day, I think this would be a wonderful choice!

I loved it!This was not a cozy, which is all I have been reading for the past few months. I enjoyed this book very much because there was no murder to solve! No one to blame for getting the main character into being a detective. It was just a story about Emma and how she has worked her way to the top in the magazine publishing business. Leaving others in the dust. But her world is turned up side down when the owner of the magazine hires a new tech Guy to help her with the new launch of the new magazine that is due out in a few weeks! She is upset! She does not want anyone to find out the secrets she has hidden for so long! That is when I began to think the book was a mystery! But everything finally came together for Emma and I fell in love with everyone in the bookThe story was well written with just the right amount of suspense! Well worth the time to read.

Enjoyed the book, Emma had a secret that left me wandering the whole time. She was attracted to Guy but it seemed her being married was the only thing keeping her from him. Guy was very mindful of this but still his emotions kept eating at him. Lia left me wanting a bit more background of the relationship among characters. I do admit I enjoyed the read, and wondered if there will be a second book. All in all a good read. Besides I love books with a nerdy kind of guy as the lead.

This is a great fast paced humorous story. I picked it up and couldn't seem to put it down!! If was able to I could have finished in one day !! I loved the character Emma..halfway thru the book there was twists in the story I didn't expect but it made the story more interesting. I think instead of The Tech Guy it should been titled Emma meets the Tech Guy or something along those lines...

Fun story, interesting twist.Emma has the life she wants, or so it seems. Everything is in it's place until Guy comes in and throws it all out of whack. The hot and sweet tech guy gets under her skin. Question is, will he reveal her secrets? or will she do it first?

Emma had too many of the traits that I don't like about myself for me to instantly like her but I'm glad she got a happy ending.

Given a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review***Guest Review From Amy Conley For The Nerd Girl Page***Emma Barton works hard at her job with the magazine company and nothing is more important to her than becoming managing editor and she has a plan in place to getting what she wants but when her boss hires a new Tech guy Emma feels uncomfortable because she's been keeping a secret and if the new guy finds out and reports it to the boss everything she's worked so hard for could be ruined... My Review:Lia Fairchild has done it again!!! Don't take your eyes off this author her writing talent knows no limits! I've never had a book sweep me off my feet and take me on such an emotional roller coaster quite the way this one has done there were moments of pure laughter, gasps and jaw dropping, but the best moment of all is when I got to the ending and my heart just soared! You couldn't have asked for a more perfect and beautiful ending! I had tears of joy overflowing in my eyes I felt like I was sharing in the character's moment of happiness! This story is so captivating and touching it really pulls on your heart strings! I started and finished it in one sitting never putting it down it was just too good and each time I thought about stopping I just couldn't do it.. I said to myself just one more page because I know something great is about to happen on the next page and I have to find out what it is I can't miss it! And I'm really glad I didn't stop reading when I wanted to because this one scene in chapter 23 BLEW ME AWAY!! It was totally unexpected and I didn't even see it coming! (Kuddos to the author on keeping your readers hooked and then dropping that HUGE SHOCKER in their laps!! LOL) I kept turning the pages on my kindle wanting more when I realized I already finished the book!! It's definitely a book worth reading and one that I will forever be recommending... It's entertaining and enjoyable and has something for everyone even a guy could read and fall in love with this book too! Emma, a work-alcoholic and very goal-oriented gal, is held in very high esteem by her boss. He and his wife have taken Emma and her husband under their wing and have become like the parents she never had growing up. When a sexy new tech guy, named Guy, is unexpectedly hired to bring the company's outdated servers into the 21st century, she worries that Guy may uncover and expose the secrets of her past. She is cordial, but erects a wall to keep him at an arms distance. Living a lie out of a deep-seated loyalty to her best friend had actually proved to beneficial to them both, but she now fears the secret could also be her undoing. When Guy and Emma are forced to work closely together on a project, his subtle flirtations begin to arouse feelings she has long tried to ignore and provides the incentive she needs to come clean about her past. Unfortunately, someone else beat her to the punch. This was a quick and delightful read. The main plot and sub-plots flowed together nicely, the story was well written, and the supporting characters were believable. I loved watching the characters change and develop throughout the story. There were several very unexpected surprises that left me gasping for breath. Would love to see this story develop into another book.

Lia Fairchild asked me to review “The Tech Guy”. I enjoyed this story. I found myself laughing quite a few times while reading. Nothing says funny like a bathroom scene =) I liked Emma’s character, she was rather snarky and I found that humorous. Her character is keeping a secret that she hopes the new tech guy, Guy, doesn't uncover. I liked Guy’s character, he was nice and sweet, but other than that nothing really wowed me about him. I have to say, Emma's secret was the big thing that kept me reading. I had an idea of what it might be but I didn't want to flip to the end and spoil it. As it turned out, I WAS SO RIGHT!!!!!! I picked up on the little clues Lia had hidden in her writing and it was exciting to know I was right all along. Readers who don’t like romances would enjoy this book. While it does contain a little romance, it’s not the bulk of the story. The characters felt a little two dimensional and I think it was due to the fact that a lot of what made them who they were wasn't emphasized until the end of the story. I give “The Tech Guy” 4/5 stars. It had me laughing and that’s a good quality in a story plus there was a hidden solve the secret thrown in.

I read A Hint of Murder and Vigil Annie by Lia Fairchild and thought they were both fantastic, so I shrugged my shoulders and said, "who cares if this one's not my preferred genre. It's by an author whose other work I like, so I'm going to try it." I'm glad I did. The characterization was so good I found myself caring about the characters, and that's pretty much all I need to enjoy a book. I liked the characters and the insight into their personalities. I loved the humor. And Fairchild didn't let me down by including some mystery and intrigue as well. This is a light read that will make you smile and laugh, will remind you of yourself or people you know, will have you rooting for romance and wondering about how you feel, and will lead you to a satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed it whether I was supposed to or not, and I'll continue to read books by this terrific author.

OK, first a confession. I already had two books on my to-be-read list when I received ‘The Tech Guy’. I opened it to check it had loaded correctly and read the first paragraph. Then I read some more. And before I knew it I was halfway through. Sorry to the other books but The Tech Guy really pulls you in. The story is a fun read. Emma, the protagonist, has enough history to make her interesting (but damaged), and enough determination and spirit to make her likeable. Despite knowing there was going to be a twist at the end, I didn’t see it coming because the clues were so cleverly woven into the plot. The strength of this book is the full cast of well-developed characters and sub-plots which made it feel very real. A light, heart-warming read which keeps the reader entertained throughout.

This was a breezy, easy read with humorous moments, especially with the minor characters, Pop, Jayne, Adam, and the basketball game. The new cover is nicer and let's me know this is chick-lit and not romance. The main character, Emma Barton, is a married woman, but she is attracted to the new Tech Guy. Her husband is a very nice and caring guy who cooks and does the laundry. Since I don't want to give away the ending, I'll just say, I do not hold stereotypes about men being nurturing and therefore did not see the so-called big secret Emma held. The other mystery was not hard, but it was a subplot. However I did enjoy the funny moments, like when Emma walked in on Pop talking sweet nothings behind a closed door and made assumptions. The snarky remarks were funny and as well as the metaphors used to describe people, so it was an enjoyable read.

This is a good book if you are looking for something a little different and quick. The story is told by the main character, Emma. While it was hard for me to like her at first, she did grow on me and by the end of the story I liked who she was becoming. It was hard at first to see this as a romance with Emma and Guy since Emma was married (to Howard). I don’t want to give any spoilers, but don’t let that stop you from continuing to read the story. There is a twist (and you may have a good guess as to what) and it all comes together and ends well. I do wish there was more of Emma and Guy. I have read another book by this author, thoroughly enjoyed it, and will continue to read her books.

I Love Books ReviewEmma vs. the Tech Guy is the best book I have read this year! Quirky, sweet, romantic and a laugh out loud read. I was totally confused as where this book was headed. After reading several book by the very talented author, Lia Fairchild, I knew there was something going on in this story besides a woman cheating on her husband. But I so didn't see this ending coming! If your tired of all the "mommy porn" out there then you should definitely check out Lia's books! Cause you'll find none of that in her books which is very refreshing to me. I like to read for the story line not how many sex scenes an author can fit in a story. If you agree with me, then what are waiting for go check out Lia Fairchild!

When a new tech guy comes to work in the office Emma worries about her secret that she has hidden from everyone in the office. She hopes Guy won't figure it out. While working in the office she has become close to a few people and really likes her job will her secret make her loose her position? This book has a little bit of everything in it. It shows what true friends would do for one another in the time of need to help each other. There is a secret that is being hidden to the very end it touches my heart that the author would think of something that could happen in any town for people to get along in life with the fear of being alone.

This is a great book, that kept me reading until it was finished. I love Emma's story and her relationship with Howard, Guy,Pop, and the rest of the characters. I loved how Emma had a secret and was worried about everyone finding out what it is. Emma is a great character, loved her personality and her being headstrong. I laughed out loud a couple of times with this book, and can't wait to read more books by this author. Trust me you won't be disappointed, you will love this book as much as I did. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Lia Fairchild. Easy to readEmma vs The Tech GuyThis story of Emma vs The Tech Guy is not my usual genre of book but it soon grabbed me, and before long I was enjoying the story of Emma being the workaholic that she was.Her life was all planned out for her until the new tech guy started, all of a sudden her life got more difficult and she had to work harder to keep the secrets she had.I think you will enjoy the story of Emma and how it unravels as the story progresses. Emma is a very good character and it gets better once Guy comes into the story. An easy to read feel good factor book by Lia Fairchild.4 stars. 16 December 2013.

This was a cute quick "chick lit" read. It was a fun story. I enjoyed the characters. Emma is quite the workaholic, very standoffish. She keeps to herself and doesn't make friends easily. But Emma is keeping a secret. One she is afraid the new tech guy will uncover once he starts digging around in their computer system. Guy is easy going and makes friends wherever he goes. And he is immediately drawn to his new married supervisor, Emma. I liked the story. I was a bit disappointed in Emma's "big secret". After all the build up, It really didn't seem that big of a deal to me. It is what it is. Not a bad story, a nice weekend read.

Summary:Emma is a workaholic who has worked very hard to get where she is and never let anything get in her way. That was until the hott new tech guy showed up, now he's got her flustered and is throwing her off her game. Emmas got secrets that she's been keeping from those around her and her feelings for Guy might expose everything and could ruin her chances with him and ruin her career. My thoughts! was provided a copy for an honest review. I found this book to be light, fun and quick read. I loved Lia Fairchilds writing style. I really enjoyed reading this book, and the surprise twist in the end just left me floored because I definitely wasn't expecting it.

A very funny book with great characters and a totally unexpected plot twist! Emma has climbed the corporate ladder to reach her position as managing editor but only has deep personal relationships with a few people. She finds that she is now beginning to seek more and is not sure how to handle them. The characters and situations in this book are so clearly described that I felt a part of the group! A great introduction to the authors books for me. I am off to add to my bookshelf with Lia Fairchild's books!

Surprisingly heartwarming I went into this book not expecting much. I found it through Bookbub and downloaded during a raining weekend. But I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a good story and I related to the characters and I liked the work place friendships. I will read another Lia Fairchild book

This was a fun and entertaining read. I really liked the main character, Emma. She's upbeat and very contemporary… like someone who might be working in my office. The twist at the end surprised me. Will this chick lit/romance change your life? Probably not. But it's a book that will keep you thoroughly entertained.

I picked The Tech Guy up and then couldn't put it down. I enjoy these light, breezy reads with a nice romance but this was more - having troubled relationships, emotions from the past, and pressures at work all adding to the story yet done in such a way it didn't drag the pace or the lighthearted romance down. Thoroughly enjoyed!

I had a hard time getting into this book. I pushed thru because of the reviews I had previously read. I have to say that the longer I read the better I liked it. I was definitely surprised toward the end and that's good considering I can usually predict the storyline.

Workaholics, office romance, dinners with the boss & his wife, and the sexy IT guy ~ all woven into a great story ! I just knew there was something up with Emma's relationship with her husband, but I sure wasn't expecting the surprise when it came ! What a delightful and enjoyable book !

This is a very well written book. Lia Fairchild does a wonderful job in weaving the story to hook the reader and keep them captive. The twists in the plot are awesome and much unexpected. Great book, I recommend this one! I give it 4 stars.
