A GOING THE DISTANCE NOVEL “Over the past year, my life has been full of moments that took my breath away, moments when I was so filled with surprise that it’s me living this life that it feels as if I stumbled into a fairy tale.” Jess Donovan has come a long way in a year, from waiting tables and eating ramen noodles at every meal, to a dizzying new life with more choices and more trouble than she ever imagined. After a tumultuous spring that left her heart shredded, Jess stepped away from both Tyler and Kaleb to live on her own terms. Now, as her life is about to take one more huge turn with the opening of the movie Torches, Jess finds herself squarely between Tyler and Kaleb once again. The chemistry is off the charts with her sexy co-star Kaleb, but he’s macho and stubborn. Artist Tyler has shown a devotion that’s unshakable, but his temper is volcanic and he still doesn’t see Jess as his equal. Which means Jess has to grapple with a painful question—how does a woman choose the right man for her? ...

Mostly I was irritated with Jess during this book. I almost wish this series ended one book sooner - "Intense" dragged for me, and the constant back and forth from Tyler to Kaleb and back again gave me whiplash. That said, I am pleased with how the series ended, and that is a testament to O'Neal's writing, because my opinion of one of the main characters was thoroughly changed. While "Intense" is not my favourite book in this series, I am still interested to see what O'Neal comes out with in the future!

I really enjoyed this series. Jess's struggle with two different relationships was a rollercoaster ride, and though I was frustrated by her decisions at times, they felt right for her. She was incredibly naïve when the series opened and I think by the end she had a better sense of self and direction. My favorite thing about the series was all the stuff I learned about New Zealand and the Maori culture. I know New Zealand is incredible (I mean, have you seen LOTR?), but the descriptions in this series made it feel magical and surreal. I always love when authors sneak in facts and history. I love random knowledge. As for this book in particular, I'm satisfied by the ending. I won't spoil who Jess chooses, but I think I would've been happy either way. Tyler and Kaleb each offer something different and unique, and are both interesting, multi-faceted characters. Jess's choice, however, is solid, and one I anticipated a while ago. Sometimes things just fit. The one thing that feels a little "swept under the rug" was the backstory with Jess's mother and why she fled New Zealand to begin with. While I'd hoped that story line would come full circle, I also wanted it to be more...fulfilling? It felt a little rushed and pushed to the side and nowhere near as explosive as we're led to believe. Overall, these books are short, quick reads with enough heat and intrigue to keep the pages turning.

This was a fast moving, well written book. Jess's movie is being released and she is attending the premiere. There are some flashbacks to what has happened during the last six months since the previous book ended. Jess has taken some time apart from both Tyler and Kaleb, and in this book she makes her final decision. This is the last book in a series. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well just wow! What a journey this series has been, an emotionally exhausting but beautiful journey. My heart has loved Jess from Day One, I have ached for her and hoped for her and loved watching her grow up and find her way in her very difficult life. And then there are the boys. Each of whom I loved for very different reasons. Tyler was beautiful and talented and broken and needed Jess so much. And Kaleb was wise and kind and knew his mind and was just delicious. Watching Jess decide where her heart was, was an absolutely exhausting and painful journey and I admit sometimes I just wanted to scream and throw the kindle across the room! But life is messy and confusing and never a neat and tidy thing and so to me her journey was just real life. The book ended as I hoped it would and I'm looking forward to following the spin off series as we see what happens to some of the characters we met in this one. As always, Lark O'Neal writes with such beauty. Her words make the people and places and emotions come alive. I will forever see New Zealand and Colorado and New York in my mind when I remember Jess and her adventures. The descriptions of place are just so delicious and real in my mind. This was a fabulous series and I recommend it to those who love a beautiful love story with lots of steam and wonderful angst.

I've anticipated the release of this book for months. This is the final book of the series involving Jess, Kaleb and Tyler. This book was a little harder to read with the chapters jumping back and forth throughout time. I would have liked to have read it where the last book left off instead of all the jumping around. I was happy with the ending but would have liked to have read more about what happened after Jess made her choice. I don't want to give away the ending for other readers. I also didn't understand why Jess was so foolish with Mercedes. How she could be friends with someone like that boogies my mind. The book still felt uncompleted and an epilogue would have been nice. Still a great book, but still a little disappointed with the lack of a complete ending..

This is the 4th book in the Going the Distance series and finally Jess makes her choice between Tyler & Kaleb during the debut of her acting career in the movie premiere of "Torches." I'm just so glad Jess finally made her decision because I was getting annoyed with her ambivalence. The story also just irritated me with the various flashbacks and shifting points of view. It also seemed like the author added some gratutious sex scenes to entice the reader that really just prolonged the agony. Thanks to the Inner Circle for the copy of this book.

Excellent ending to the series, I loved how Jess figured out what's important. I love the writing as always. The wording is so descriptive and colorful that you can hear and feel everything the characters are going through. I sorry that Tyler was heartbroken, because he brought a lot to Jess's life, but he could never see her beyond the waitress he found and was never willing to admit that she was part of his. Although, Kaleb was immature in ways he still knew who Jess was and was proud to stand next to her.

EpicThis has been the most amazing series I have ever read!! I have been so emotional this week! Yes; it only took me a week to read the entire collection. I was in a trance; wanting to jump into the books and shake these kids. I am really pleased with the ending! I know some people won't be but that's why we are all different! I can't wait for the next series as I know Lark O'Neal will produce!!!!!!!

This is the last of a series of books about Jess, Tyler and Kaleb. It was a little bit confusing sometimes as it jumps between all three points of view. But that also made it more interesting to have all three perspectives. As always, the characters Lark writes are complicated and endearing and irritating all at the same time. Much like the people we all know and love in our real lives. For me it was a satisfying end to the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This was such a crushing book. I wish so hard I could have given it more stars but my heart was with one man and it just stayed with him. I couldn't handle it any other way. I had to skim the parts that shattered my heart a bit. I'm just so glad it's over even without the ending I so desperately wanted. I don't think I will even be able to read his story, sorry.

3.5 stars. I'm happy to know how this drama ends and I'm mostly satisfied with the result. I feel like Jess lost some of her strength and spunk along the way, but I think she got it back in the end.

Loved the ending, but sad Jess's story is over. I felt so connected with her while reading. GREAT series!

So disappointed.... I kind of feel like I was conned into reading all five books. Only to be led down a path that wouldn't result in what it had led me to believe it would. *sad face*
