This is one of the most beautiful poetry books I've ever read. I'm revisiting it this week and I finally decided to write a review. Abdul's writing is so immersive and so vivid that it wields a seismic control of the readers imagination, with ease. I can see his Uncle and his Camera. I can hear the 80s sounds of New York City street corners. He is a master in total control. The language is as gentle and complicated as Komunyakaa himself. This book has been a bible for me for the past two and half years. I love it so deeply, so sincerely. Please give it a read.

I really liked it, especially the ending. It felt so fitting and perfect to me, bringing the sort of story-in-verse to a close.
