Dr. Makumakuran and Other Stories Reviews
This collection of short stories is one that manages an ok, because the better stories kind of cancel out the worse ones. The basic premise of the first one (virtual sex) is a decent one, even when I saw it coming that the "test subject" was monitored. But I did not get the constant complaining of the protagonist about feeling only dull pain during virtual sex. So he wanted more pain instead of lots of pleasure? Was he into that kind of stuff? If yes, the story hid it well. The one afterwards… let's just say this: I wonder whether guys becoming dwarves and having sex in that form is some sort of Japanese manga trope. However, besides that, it was a nice and solid smut story. The characters are believable, the emotional reactions consistent and the story moves well. The next story of a fitness star claiming to have a gay relationship to then end up taking it up the ass was simple and well done. Plus the bottom is not considered weaker and smaller here, unlike what is usually the case. Now, the last two with the guy in the wolf mask was fine and the one before that... well the gay guy as a sort of training for the "straight" guy is... well at least not as often used albeit not very well done.
This was awesome! But this is no surprise. I really enjoy Takeshi Matsu's work! I hope the company keeps publishing the light hearted and silly ones. The heavy and dark ones are a bit.... well heavy and dark I guess is sufficient enough to summarise my feelings on them. Lots of fun and great art.***Update is the above***Oh my, this is awesome! They're going to release another bara manga! Now the wait is on. And I just hope they don't fiddle about with the release date like they are with Priapus. That'd be frustrating.
