Someone is using explosives to fish the ecologically fragile patch reefs in the shallow waters of Florida Bay, north of the Keys. Retired Marine Jesse McDermitt doesn't like explosions in his backyard. Knowing his penchant for inserting himself in matters best left to the authorities, his friends withhold information from him about the destruction to the delicate, living corals. Jesse doesn't much like this, either. He discovers that a vicious Miami street gang is involved when he and his daughter witness a gruesome double murder on remote Cape Sable. Ignoring his friends advice, he digs for the truth. Why does a gang that deals strictly in lead, kilos, and large bricks of cash want to steal cheap boats in the Keys, just to poach a few bucks worth of gamefish? What Jesse uncovers is far more sinister than he bargained for. A twisted psychopath is in control of the gang and trying to lure him out in the open. Jesse's instinct and training compel him to attack, but conflicts with his newfound parental need to protect. Jesse and the ones he cares for most are caught in the cross-hairs. It's just another day in paradise in this sixth installment of the Jesse McDermitt series. ...

Fallen King Reviews

Somehow, I've completed the entire Jesse McDermitt series and overlooked "Fallen King". As with all the other books in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. This one did take some time to launch, but once it started, you'll have to finish it before putting it down. The cast of characters are well developed, and readers are taken back to earlier times to ensure they know everything about that character.I especially like the "Rules for dating a Marine's daughter" and thought they were hilarious! But, no doubt, true in every sense. In this story, a Miami-based Haitian gang is going outside of the norm (drugs, prostitution, weapons, etc.) and using grenades to damage the ecosystems around Key West. It soon sinks in that the gang is trying to draw Jesse out of hiding, and this is why the thugs are operating in his neighborhood. His connections in the Homeland Group soon learn that an old foe of Jesse's is manipulating the gang so she can get even with him for an earlier encounter when treasure hunting. Kim develops a love life and goes out on her first date. Then the fireworks begin, and Jesse discovers that his "personal island" isn't as defensible as he thought.Great story and highly recommended. Everyone should read all six books in the series - first-timers should start at #1 to keep characters and events straight. Looking for another Jesse story to come. Great job, Mr. Stinnett!John Podlaski, authorCherries - A Vietnam War Novel

Guy gets out of the military, buys a fishing boat and an island and subsequently finds himself catching bad guys with the government. Yes. Yes, it is far-fetched. But it's a hell of a lot of fun. These are not the best-written books. They're not fine literature. They're not really even good literature. But they're compelling, have some characters you really can't get out of your head, and they're mindless escapes for a day or two.

Same blueprint as the other books in the series. If you like Jesse and the team in the other books you will enjoy this one, I did. This book was a little slower out of the gate than some and that is my only reason for the 4 star rating. Wayne Stinnett does a good job managing many characters and developing relationships amongst themselves and the reader. Looking forward to the my next adventure in the Keys.

I absolutely loved 'Fallen King'. The story line was well written and the way it played out kept me glued to the pages. Full of action, thrilling adventures, great dialog and awesome characters. I love Jesse. He is such a great lead. I can't wait to read the next book. A great add to your tbr list.I love the Rules For Dating a Marine's Daughter.

I have enjoyed all 6 books on Jesse Mc Dermitt that I have read. Lots of action., local friends, service buddies and girlfriends. Jesse is a little unbelieveable in being able to take such beatings and move on to some other action an hour later. Most situations are dire, but that is what makes the stories so interesting. I plan on reading the next couple of books,

Love this series! Excellent character development, very descriptive of the area, surroundings, etc. I gave it 4 stars only because I felt the story line was a little less believable than some of the earlier books.

ACTION AND HISTORY OF STORY LINEAs with all of Wayne Stinnett ' s books, the action is hot and heavy. First time readers will also get background history of players in this story.

Read the entire series after the Jesse McDermitt series and thoroughly enjoyed the books. The final book (Charity) rather left you hanging though. I suppose there may be a connection if and when the McDermitt series is continued.

"An Explosive Story: An Assault On Jesse's Paradise"Retired Marine Jesse McDermitt lives in south Florida Keys, an underpopulated and ecologically fragile area of small islands, reefs, and shallow water. It's quiet and peaceful until someone starts setting off explosives. No one, psychopaths or violent gangs, will jeopardize or take away Jesse's lifestyle in paradise. Jesse's 17-year old daughter becomes active in the search team to locate Jesse. He's been kidnapped by a terrorist woman, Lavolier, rumored to be the voodoo spirit of love. This is a stand alone novel giving you a good view of Jesse's challenges since he moved to the Keys. There is high action, with a little promising romance, and it's fast paced. The story is well written, easy to read, and very exciting. Wayne Stinnett is one of my favorite authors, and also my husband's.

Book Six of this wonderful series by Wayne Stinnett.Reunion with one of his 'long-lost' daughters has Jesse coming out in full protection mode. Introducing her to his friends, his boat, and his island, Jesse commits to Kim, his youngest. He finds her to be a tough gal who reminds him of himself. She is brave, capable, and a good shot!! She also makes a great First Mate so she works with him on charters. Needless to say, life around Jesse is not that simple. This book is another WOW, and now I will read the last one. I certainly hope there will be more, cuz I could read these books til I drop dead!!

Each Fallen book is better than the previous, and Fallen King has not disappointed. I have really enjoyed the way Wayne has broadened Jesse's character, brought in new friends/associates, and added his daughter/s into his life. The incident at the dive photo shoot was believable in that not everyone escaped unharmed as is the case in real life. I don't want to give away any of the storyline, so I will just end by saying that I hope for many more adventures to come with Jesse and the gang. I highly recommend this book and the others in this series.Great job Wayne!

Sure to please. Read this book-you won't be disappointed. Mr Stinnett's writing and story line get better with every book. He cranked up the action gradually and then at the peak of the suspense I couldn't put it down. I had to know how it end (no spoiler alert). The attention to detail was amazing, from boats to fishing to weapons along with military procedures. There are numerous strong female characters. You can read this without having read the previous books in the series and be able to follow the story, but why would you want to?

Average plot but told in a manner to hold the reader's attention. Once again Stinnett's description of the Florida Keys makes this a very enjoyable novel. Part of the plot involves fishing using hand grenades to blow the fish to the surface. Stinnett's descriptions of the eco. damage done to the reefs is very well done.Stinnett used one of the 'bad guys' from Fallen Mangrove in this one. Those not familiar with the series should read Mangrove first.

Not a great book. It followed the general outline of the previous ones in the series but by this time, I was more easily bored and the book, while good, paled in comparison to the previous efforts. Entertaining enough, but not as stellar as he earlier efforts. Some else may have enjoyed this more than I.

Fallen King: Jesse McDermitt (Caribbean series #6)Jesse's inherent personality draws him into more danger. Santiago's gone, but the enemy still wants Jesse. This novel is going to see Jesse kidnapped by the woman whom he got away from when Santiago's crew was taken down. You'll have to read the full story to find out what and how this all comes out. This is a great read.

In this beautiful paradise that is the Florida Keys, a Haitian gang begins to drop grenades into the water destroying the reef and killing fish for no apparent reason. In this adventure Jesse is captured and his team makes an amazing rescue. He meets his other daughter and only grandchild. This is another amazing adventure.

Enjoyable readJesse McDermitt lives a good life on his little island until some gangboys start throwing grenades in the water. This is a way to get Jesse off his island. You'll need to read the book to find out why. Plus an evil character from the past is back......

Fallen king Very much a follow-up to the rest of the series with all the characters in action and new ones introduced. Good ending unlike some of the others with a potential to continue if Stinnett wants to.

Enveloping. eatBeing a diver from Ft Lauderdale I can visualize some of the areas described. One slight correction on the flying of the Beaver, when taking off from water you don't have to retract the landinggear. You already did that when got on float. Great books.

Coming to ConclusionsSome reefs are being destroyed and damaged by scandalous actions by unknown perpetrators. The presumed motivations by the bad guys turn out to be different and dangerous.
