5 ‘OMG I LOVED this book’ stars!!! :D Before starting this review- I just want to say this book was AMAZING, FANTASTIC! I just loved it! A HUGE thanks to the author, Kimberly Lauren for providing me with an arc :D Emerson Moore knows who she is...One thing I know for sure and have come to terms with- I’m the school slut.Em is a junior at college. After tragically losing both of her parents at 15, she has learned not to get close to anyone. You will just get hurt in the end. The only exceptions are her step mother Ellie, her step sister Quinn, and her best friend Cole. She does not do relationships. Never has, never will. Em might sleep around, but she has some standards, some rules. She knows exactly where she stands. This protects her and the guy. She never breaks her rules. No matter what.I have three rules:
1- Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for2- Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship.3- Never sleep with someone more than three times. She never wants to. Until she meets him...Jaxon has moved from Texas with his twin brother Jace on a football scholarship. He and Jace are close friends with Cole and they move into his apartment with him... which happens to be right next door to Em and Quinns. Em and Jaxon hit it off right away. They become fast friends. They are both extremely attracted to one another. After weeks of just hanging out and studying together, the inevitable happens. Jax knows all about Emerson’s rules, he doesn’t like them, but he tries his best not to push her, even though he is developing real feelings for her. He wants to keep her safe, he hates the way people talk to her and treat her. “I don’t need a protector, okay?”
“I’m trying my fucking hardest here, Beautiful.”
I just love Jaxon. Freaking hot as hell, and totally swoonworthy! After a lot of back and forth, Em can’t deny she wants Jax. And more than three times. She can’t be his ‘girlfriend’ or commit to him, but she just wants to be with him and only him. He can accept that... for now. Of course there is some drama along the way and some serious angst, but I still loved every second of this book! One of the best NA books I’ve read in a long time. I can’t believe this was a debut novel. Jax and Emerson’s story was sweet, sexy, beautiful and heartbreaking. Emerson puts herself out there for the first time. She trust Jax not to break her heart. She knows that he is the only one for her. As much as I loved Jax, he had some frustrating moments, but he came around. And what he did to her text book... I think I fell in love with him then! One thing I loved about this book is that even though the story has been ‘done before’ its actually pretty original. We’ve all read tons of stories about the self proclaimed manwhore’s (who I LOVE) that change their ways for the right girl, but what about the sluts out there? I loved Emerson. She was a slut, yes, but she owned it. And it only took the right guy to break down her barriers. Once I started this book I just couldn’t put it down! I didn’t want it to end. The two main characters were fantastic, but so were the others. I loved Cole, Jace, and Quinn. Especially Cole, best guy ever! Yep- pretty much loved everything about this one! I highly recommend :D

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...a narrator can make or break a story. This book is a prime example of a pretty good story that became a mediocre listening experience, solely because the male main characters voice was so bad that I wanted to cover my ears. By all accounts, he should have been a very sexy character. However, I'm pretty sure the narrator for his character made my ovaries shrivel up.If you can overlook horrible narration or, better yet, you choose to read the story vs. listening, it is actually pretty good. In fact, it might have even been pretty great. I definitely would've given this story a 4-star rating if it hadn't been for the fact that I listened to the Audible edition and Jaxon's voice was so off-putting.This is the first YA/NA that I've read in awhile. I find that the youthful, "everything's the end of the world" thinking and immaturity has started to grate on my nerves more than it used to. It's a "not you, it's me" type of thing. My tastes have just changed some. That being said, I do still enjoy a book in this romance sub-genre every once in a while. After all, variety is the spice of life! Sometimes a shallow, "fluffy" read is just what I need to offset the darker reads that I prefer.'Beautiful Broken Rules' was like many other college-aged romances in a lot of ways. Big man on campus smitten with pretty girl, lots of partying, strong supporting characters/friends, back and forth drama.--You know the drill. Yet, there were some pretty big differences in this story that made it stand out from the rest. Most noticeably, the heroine had slept with most of the school's guys. No slut-shaming here, but Emerson was extremely promiscuous. I pitied her. There are very few authors that do a good job of selling a heroine with so little self-respect, but Kimberly Lauren did.Of course, there is a deep, dark emotional reason for Emerson's risky sexual behavior. Before you go there, I'll let you know that it has nothing to do with sexual abuse either. Nope, this girl has chosen sex as her coping tool. She's set some rules to prevent her from ever getting to attached to any one particular person. In essence, she's a slut by design.Jaxon is the new, football star on campus. He has girls fawning over him day and night, but he's only interested in the beautiful girl who walked out of a fraternity house without her shirt on when he first arrived. Yep, "Mr. Perfect" was drawn to her confident demeanor as she did the walk of shame! From that point forward, he decided that he was going to get Emerson to break her stupid rules.Along the way, there was plenty of angst and drama. Jaxon has his own skeletons and his past comes back to haunt him. They spend plenty of time working against each other also. It's like they just can't get in sync with one another. He's hot, she's cold and vice versa. While their on and off behavior was incredibly frustrating at times, it certainly kept things interesting. You've gotta have some push and pull in a story and this one delivered in a big way. I also liked the fact that Jaxon had to actually work a little to get back into Emerson's good graces. In fact, they both had to suffer a little for their mistakes. Fair is fair. If I have to experience the heartache, then I expect my characters to pony up a little pain as well. Nothing makes me madder than having a ton of heartache that is forgotten with a simple apology. It makes me feel like everything I just felt was invalidated. Luckily, that didn't happen with this story. Of course, I would've liked a bit more groveling, but that's just me. I give the story 4-stars. The narration only gets 2-stars from me. This is one that is pretty good, but I wouldn't recommend the audiobook version.

4.5 Stars~I have the biggest stupidest grin on my face; This book was just... *deep breath* ... *sigh* ... AMAZING. I am a major sucker for college romance books and this novel hit spot on!I mean books like these are the ones which just make the heart melt and make a girl blush and giggle and fall in love.Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant debut novel.. Its so nice to read such a normal book with this whole BDSM era thingie on.. (I mean its nice the bdsm novels, but its get too much at a point of time)I miss watching a good chick-flick or a nice romantic movie; people seriously make shit now a days.. but THANK GOD for such books.. They totally feed my addiction. It was such a wonderful book, so beautifully written with such amazing characters. The story line, the plot and each and every drama filled twist and turn was brilliant. It wasn't like any twists and turns were purposely added, it all flowed so smoothly and formed such an amazing story!!“Be silly, be honest, and be kind,”This book was about these 5 amazing friends;Emerson, Quinn, Jaxon, Cole and Jace & their journey in life.I swear each and every character, even the side non-existent ones were amazing!! :DEm-I have Three Rules:•Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for,•Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship and finally,•Never sleep with someone more than three times. She broke only 1 rule and there starts her story~I really liked Emerson, she wasn't a blonde damsel in distress type! She was a bold girl, A slut as she believe she was. She enjoyed sex, so no harm no foul when she isn't doing it the wrong way ;)I really liked her character. She was not the whiney immature idiots we come across. She was NICE!Jaxon, HELL BOY!! I wanted to gobble him up for breakfast lunch dinner and dessert. He was just AMAZING, charming, awesome and OH SO SWEET! ;))Quinn and Cole and Jace; The type of best friends you'd give a limb to have!I loved each and every relationship this book had, this book was so peaceful and calming..I seriously didn't want this book to end, like when we reached the HEA part I was like NOOOOOOO have a continuity or something, PLEASE; because the story was soo good I wanted it to just go on and on! ;DI reallllly hope it continues, like with Jace maybe so we can read more about this gang because they were BEAUTIFUL. “I want you.”“Only me?”“Only you.”~“You’re my heart. You don’t walk away from your heart,”Gah, I swear Emerson and Jaxon were so cute, I was only blushing and giggling throughout. :DI can’t wait to jump back into this world and I hope you come back. - KLI'll be looking forward to more stuff by this Author. :D I mean, I rarely do we get to read such an amazing debut novel by a self-published author.~Thank you Kimberly Lauren for providing me with the ARC to review your wonderful novel.

First, here's my casting:** FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED ** 4.5 stars!SQUEEE!!! Bad boy fans, you're going to love this book!! Beautiful Broken Rules was a wonderfully addictive and romantic read with a bad boy hero who I promise you will fall for! There was heaps of swoon, awesome banter, and a delicious kind of angst that made my heart race and kept me flipping pages. Once I started, I could not put it down! I had been in such a reading funk the last few days. I'd started and stopped so many books that I was starting to wonder if it was 'me', y'know? But THIS BOOK pulled me right back into happy reader land!Fans of Beautiful Disaster should definitely check this book out! Although the plot lines are very different, this one gave me many of those same wonderful 'feelings'.This book also pretty much defied one of the norms because instead of having a manwhore hero, we had a heroine who pretty much was the female equivalent. Kinda weird to think of it when the roles are reversed, huh? But it totally worked for this character. Emerson was a strong heroine and I loved that she didn't make any excuses for the way she was and the things she did.Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself here...The book is about Emerson, a college student who has three rules that she never breaks: 1) Never sleep with someone a friend has feelings for, 2) Never sleep with someone in a known relationship, 3) Never sleep with the same person more than three times. These rules keep her 'safe' within her comfort zone. She was deeply scarred by events in her past that basically left her terrified of relationships and so these rules are her coping mechanism that both allow her to have fun and keep her clear of being bogged down in any relationship drama or heart break.Until Jaxon Riley showed up.With his gorgeous tattoos, his cocky but endearing attitude, and his naturally protectiveness, this bad boy sweetheart spun her world right around and for the first time in her life, she found herself actually wanting more than just a fling. He didn't care about her past, he just wanted her future and was determined to win her heart.*swoons*"I don't need a protector, okay?" I breathed."I'm trying my fucking hardest here, Beautiful."Only a few pages into this book and I knew it was going to be a winner! I was smiling and chuckling and swooning and it just kept on getting better. I really honestly loved pretty much everything about it.I fell hard for Jax. Everything about him was either alluring, intriguing, or downright hot! And Emerson was a surprising and fun heroine. She certainly had her share of issues but I felt like I could understand them and better yet, Jax understood them and I seriously just loved the way he was with. So sweet and tender but yet totally possessive and protective. The perfect combination! He knew about her issues and yet he was willing to be patient with her.“I love you... Relax, I won’t say it again for a while. I just want you to get used to the fact that one day, when you’re comfortable with it, I’ll tell you every day, multiple times a day. I want you to know how much I love you every single damn day, but for now, I’ll just let you soak it in.” I loved that this was more than just a romance. The core group of friends and family were just as awesome to read about. Some of their scenes were seriously just priceless!"Ew, guys, stop it. Not on the couch." Quinn was right next to us, batting me off of Jaxon."Oh, like we haven't gotten plenty of fluids on this couch already, sweetheart," Cole laughed from behind her."All of you are disgusting, shut up, push play and keep your fluids to yourselves," Jace complained. There were definite undercurrents of tension though through the story because of how Emerson clearly shied away from all relationships and there were some moments of full on angst and drama but at the same time, all of it was the delicious kind. I revelled in it even though there were times when I just wanted to shove her and Jax into a room together and not let them out until they'd worked through their issues. One thing that I did really like was that throughout the drama, I never once doubted their feelings for each other and despite being a tad frustrated at how long it took them to get through their last issue, because I could tell they were still just crazy about each other, it allowed me to ride it all out with a good feeling instead of being worried sick. They both made mistakes but I also *knew* they'd work things out and was excited to see it all come together."You're my heart. You don't walk away from your heart."Beautiful Broken Rules was exactly what I'd been looking for. A fun, delicious blend of swoon and angst with a possessive but sweet bad boy and a strong but damaged heroine. It just pushed all the right buttons for me and is definitely one of my new favorite New Adult romance reads.Highly recommended!4.5 starsPS - This reads as a standalone but there will be more spin-off books about the side characters. The first will be about Jax's brother Jace. I can't wait!!**************************** For more of my reviews, book news and updates:✦ Main blog: Aestas Book Blog✦ Facebook Blog Page✦ Twitter

SPOILER FREE REVIEW -mature content reader discretion is advised.4 STARS out of 5Genre: New Adult Romance/CollegeLOVED IT! New Adult at its finest!‘One thing I know for sure and have come to terms with– I’m the school slut. I hate that word; but sometimes it is what it is, or in my situation, I am what I am. I like guys, all kinds of them and lots of them. College has been the perfect setting for being able to meet so many. Since I have no desire for a relationship whatsoever, I sleep around. Sleeping with one guy consistently is too permanent.’ ~EmHOLD UP. PAUSE. All I kept hearing when I started reading this was Promiscuous girl By Nelly FurtadoLOL! I cannot be the only one who heard that song while reading. Am I?*shrugs*Ok back to my reviewBeautiful Broken Rules is a fun sexy New Adult read with a nice spin on role reversal. Emerson Moore is the school slut (her words not mines) She does not do boyfriends and she has pretty much sworn off love. Sound familiar? Because I swear the guys I read about in books all seem to live by the words“I don’t do love”“I will never fall in love”“Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for FREE”Oh and let’s not forget this one“I never hit the same honey pot twice” The male characters I love live by these words as if each phrase is the male national anthem or some shit.WHAT. EVER.My girl Emerson has her own rules to live by to make life easier… That’s right, she likes to play boys but you can only have her for a limited amount of time. 3 rounds and your OUT, this way nobody's feelings get hurt once playtime ends. And everything is going well until she meets Jaxon. A guy rumored to be the male version of her. Jaxon oozes sex appeal without even opening his mouth. That cocky grin alone will have your panties in a twist. Jaxon just moved to Cali from Texas and is attending the same school as Emerson on a football scholarship. He’ll also be her new neighbor! Can you say HELL YES!Jaxon meets all of my bad boy criteria’s-He’s a TOTAL ALPHA-He's intelligent -He rides a motorcycle –He has a voice that can drop panties –He has a body built for sin –He has a tattoo –He plays football(athlete) *Screams* TOTAL PACKAGE! I mean really what more can a girl ask for! *le sigh*Emerson and Jaxon dance a nice slow tango with flirty twist, cocky turns and witty banter filled dips, where each of them takes the turn at lead. Jax knows her rules and he is willing to dance along. That is until he realizes he wants more. Unfortunately Emerson fights being more than friends tooth and nail. Her past showed her that love is nothing but pain, secrets and heartache. She has been able to do her thing so why risk the chance of hurting someone, or being the one who ends up hurt. Logical thinking right? To bad the heart wants what the heart wants. When her best friend Quinn notices a change in Emerson because of Jax; she tells her to give a relationship a chance.“Just the fact that you care enough not to hurt him shows me that maybe you can handle one.” -QuinnEm nixes that idea with the quickness. “I don’t want to handle one…” -EmJax does not give up though and Em starts to catch feelings but just like she knew it would secrets, pain and heartache follow. The chemistry between Jaxon and Emerson is H O T!The sex between Jaxon and Emerson… HOT! ‘We were grabbing at each other like we needed to be inside of one another, as if we needed the other one to breathe.’“Tell me that you want me,” he whispered. “I want you.” Always. “Only me?” “Only you.” Had there ever been anyone else? All steam aside I really enjoyed this New Adult read, essentially all Kimberly Lauren did was take the man whore concept we all love and flip it. And guess what? IT WORKS! She gives us great secondary characters that pull you in even more, a sweet secondary love story and the promise for a book 2 most likely featuring Jace, which I will happily read!My thoughtsOverall this was a fun read and I look forward to more work by Kimberly Lauren! I recommend this to all of my friends who enjoy a good NA read!My RatingsCharacters- Lovable sexy and wittyWriting Style- Good, I just can't get enoughPlot/Storyline- Role reversal, GENIUSSteam Factor- Hot/Very SteamyOverall- I loved it!! 5 Beautiful Stars!!!!If you are a fan of angsty and steamy NA, drop everything you're doing and read this book! Seriously! I am still flabbergasted that this is a debut novel. I kept going back to the author's page several times to make sure I didn't miss something. WOW!Emerson Moore is the school slut. But she does have a few standards when it comes to hooking up.Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for, never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship, and finally, never sleep with someone more than three times.I was intrigued with this character. She didn't hide who she was, or feel ashamed of it. She was also incredibly endearing. Emerson was just the right amount of tough shell hiding a vulnerable center. She sleeps around, and owns it. I've accepted who I am. The girl who will never become serious about anyone, who will enjoy life, have fun with guys along the way and never get her heart brokenShe doesn't want to open herself up to get hurt, because she knows that eventually all relationships end. There's no point in having a relationship, because if they aren't cheating, they're dying. When Emerson meets Jaxon Riley, she finds herself questioning her rules.I really enjoyed the reversal of roles in this book. We have a female that is a player and hiding demons of her past behind her tough-girl persona. Jaxon pursues her in a very understated but effective way. This was not a case of insta-love. I found their relationship to be very believable for a college romance.Ever since they first meet, they feel an instant pull, an attraction towards each other. Unable to resist, they give into the lust and It.Was.SteamyBut Jaxon is not satisfied with having just a small part of Emerson, and he is determined to break through her walls."Damn it, Emerson, just stop!" he yelled. "Stop pretending you don't care. Why won't you let me in? Why won't you let me care about you? Because for some maddening reason, I do!"Little by little, he begins to tear her down. Through some very swoon-worthy moments and gestures, Jaxon begins to show Emerson that maybe love just might be worth the chance. With each kiss, each note, each whisper, Jaxon crumbles more and more of Emerson's defensive walls.Emerson, tell me what you want.""I don't know how.""Tell me that you want me," he whispered."I want you." Always."Only me?""Only you." Had there ever been anyone else?Jaxon and Emerson's relationship was by no means perfect. There were moments throughout this book that I wanted to strangle either one or both of them. There was so much angst and pain that could have been avoided had they only communicated better. But then this book wouldn't have been what it was.The love between them isn't perfect, but it was an amazing journey to read."Before I'd gotten to know you, I knew I had to make you mine. It only got worse the closer we got. I realized you weren't mine at all. I. AM. YOURS."He grabbed each side of my face and looked into my eyes. "you don't walk away from your heart."I really loved all the supporting characters as well and I sincerely hope that the author would make this into a series. I'd love to get Jace's book. Oh, did I not mention that Jaxon has an identical twin brother, Jace? Yup! There's 2 of them!

Emerson Moore is the school slut. She knows it and accepts it, because its the truth...She likes it that way, have a good time, no expectations and a guaranteed good time.Emerson:She has Rules:"I have three rules: never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for, never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship (when this isn't disclosed to me, it is not my fault), and finally, never sleep with someone more than three times."The rules have been set to avoid demons from her past..Her parents were married and divorced when she was 15yrs old and they both died in the same car accident.Em assumes they were having an affair when they died. She would never hurt herself or anyone ever. So she sticks to her rules. The only person who she let's in is her step sister Quinn. That's until her best friend Cole's two friends move into the apartment next door to her. They twins..Jaxon and Jace Riley...After being friends with Jax, the sexual chemistry is electric. Not only is Jax smoking hot, they get on well and are such good friends, but for Em its not enough...So Em does what she does best- she fcuks him. Then she tells him the rules...He doesn't like it but he accepts it.Jax doesn't want to push Em away..When Jax starts flirting with other girls Em gets jealous, she hates herself for getting jealous because it goes against her rules- never get attached.Jax wants Em to let him in but she Runs!YEP Another Runner! Lmao! She runs from her feelings for Jax because she can't be his girlfriend! She doesn't do relationships. But she's only fooling herself- because she wants Jax and him only..."Tell me that you want me,” he whispered.""I want you.” Always."Only me?”"Only you.” Had there ever been anyone else? She makes stupid mistakes along the way and after putting herself out there for the first time, she gets her heart broken. These two definitely need to communicate more about their past or they wouldn't have been in the situations they were in. "It’s what you do with it once you’ve screwed up that matters."I admit Jax made me so angry at times but like Em, he was also scared.“It's impossible. I can't be your friend. It hurts too much. If I'm ruining you, then you've destroyed me. I finally trusted someone enough to love and you proved that all along it wasn't worth it."(view spoiler)[After pain, tears and heartbreak- Jaxx and Em break down their barriers and the walls around their hearts and let each other in. “You're my heart. You don't walk away from your heart," he whispered in my ear.”(hide spoiler)]This book is totally addicting and so well written, I am shocked this is a debut novel- the writing, the banter between Emerson and her friends is really funny at times. This book has really strong sweet characters who you can't help but love to: Jace, Cole, Quinn. Hell in the end I even liked Micah! :)If you looking for a Great NA book, this is it!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

“One thing I know for sure and have come to terms with: I’m the school slut.”Well, that’s a hell of a start, right?Beautiful Broken Rules is one of those books that gets dusty (figuratively) on my tbr. It was sitting there forever, and, for some reason, I always debate a long while (in blonde time about 35 seconds) before adding a book to my tbr, so that I don’t have a million books to wade through—but I still have an endless list I don’t ever plan on reading. It should be a real diagnosis; it’s a serious problem, after all.But fortunately, some Christmas moolah from my dad—who doesn’t know I read smut and never will—and I bought a crap load of books, and Beautiful Broken Rules happened to be one of them. This new-adult romance was grittier, angstier, and all around better than I expected.Emerson is the school slut. She doesn’t want a relationship and has three rules she always follows—because she’s a nice slut, of course.1. Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for. 2. Never sleep with someone that’s in a relationship.3. Never sleep with someone more than three times. She follows these rules to a T, and truly believes she will never be in a relationship because of past experiences that shaped her into believing love only hurts. Was her reasoning believable? Honestly, no. The whole driving force behind her rules wasn't convincing, but I was enjoying the story enough not to care. Her first meeting with Jax is great. She’s doing the walk of shame out of a frat house in only her underwear because she couldn’t find her clothes. This was actually a pretty long book, I thought. And I honestly never grew bored once. The conflict was perfectly done to keep me interested all the way through. The buildup of Jax's and Em's relationship was really well done - from friends to friends with benefits to lovers - and while I was a little bummed this wasn't that steamy, there was enough to keep me invested. This might have been a five star read for me if the editing didn’t make me want to smack my head on something. There was no definite tense—it switched from past to present and it was super distracting. I know some people don’t notice tenses, but it’s one of those things that’s glaringly obvious to me. Overall, a NA romance with a touch of sports that I’d recommend to angst lovers.

4 BREAKING THE RULES STARS.A likeable slut? Who would have thought. Readers let me introduce you to Emerson 'Em' Moore ~ pretty, intelligent, popular and yes the ermm college slut. She battles with the concept of a long term arrangement after being scarred by her parents unfortunate separation, nasty divorce and eventual heartache. Nobody will break down those walls she's built around her heart. See she's got it all figured out, she's got rules. Things were in place, people knew where she stood, order and routine had its place that was until she met ...Jaxon Riley, tattooed, blue eyed college frat boy and football star. From first meeting with Emerson it was 'want' at first sight. This college boy was not giving up anytime soon and he certainly won't play by the rules ...Knee deep in sweet is my thing so this short, stateside novel ticked my romance boxes. The characters were interesting, the relationships were adorable and Chemistry certainly played its part. This book for me was the perfect 'filler'. A book that was easy and uncomplicated . If you need predictable, sweet and another book boyfriend to add to your list, then Jump right in to this college romance. 'beautiful broken rules' was cute sexy and funny with just enough angst served on the side to make an interesting plot.❤❤ "be silly, be honest, and be kind."4 stars and a book heart filled to the brim.

”I really hope I don’t screw this up..”Emerson Moore follows three simple rules to protect herself from attachments and heart break: Rule 1~“Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for”Rule 2~ “Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship.”Rule 3 ~ “Never sleep with someone more than three times.”You see, her parents’ death left her so broken that she protects/guards herself from getting too attached to guys and vice versa. Unlike a lot of main characters that I have read to date, Em isn’t shy, quiet or untouchable. She embraces her sexuality and owns it. One side of the coin on being a “slut” is guys discussing her with each other and rumors, reputation…these things don’t phases her. (I had a hard time wrapping my brain around that reaction.) Em attends college with her stepsister Quinn their newly acquired best friend Cole. These three are really tight and the book takes off when Cole’s twin best friends from home, Jace and Jaxon move in with Cole and attend the university as well.Kimberly Lauren can sure write sexy jocks!! I absolutely LOVED the sexy banter between Em and Jaxon, which starts from their first encounter. Em and Jaxon’s chemistry is supported by a friendship which leads to LOVE…Emerson Moore has her first boyfriend y’all! ”You have to stop worrying that you’ll lose me. There’s nowhere else in this world that I want to be. I love you, beautiful girl.”As you can guess, things don’t go smoothly for Emerson and Jaxon. Jaxon is ALPHA and Em is learning how to face and discuss her feelings. The couple does fall apart…but this story isn’t a cliffhanger and has a nice big HEA.”When Cole carried you away from me that day, I realized you weren’t mine at all. I. AM. YOURS.”Overall, Ms. Lauren’s debut novel was sexy and fun. I loved these four friends Cole, Quinn, Jace, Jaxon and Em and I'm totally on board for any future books by this author. *ARC courtesy of author in exchange for an honest review*

Beautiful Broken Rules is the story of Emerson, the school slut, and Jaxon, the tattooed hottie. From the beginning there is an instant physical attraction. The each have three rules. Hers: 1. I don't sleep with anyone my friends like. 2. I don't sleep with anyone's boyfriend.3. I never sleep with anyone more than three times.His:1. Be silly.2. Be honest.3. Be kind. They have both suffered the loss of a parent (in her case both of them) and in her case is still learning to cope with the loss. Upon first meeting the two strike up an easy friendship and quickly become best friends. I loved their playful banter. I loved how from the beginning he was her knight in shining armor. He was saw past her physical appearance and saw her for the beautiful soul and strong woman she was. She always felt broken and was terrified to let anyone in, for she believes that eventually everyone you love leaves you. Little by little though, he begins to break down her walls and sneaks into her heart. What ensues is an emotional story of two people who must learn to forgive and love. This is a wonderful story I would recommend to everyone. This was an easy book to rate: 5 stars.

5 Rule Breaking- I Have a HUGE smile on my face- Beautiful StarsThere’s a reason why Beautiful Broken Rules has rave reviews and ratings, it’s JUST.THAT.GOOD. If you want a fun, happy, light-hearted read that will truly put you in a good mood, then Beautiful Broken Rules is for you.Emerson (Emmy) is a slut and knows it. She also has three rules for dating guys and she NEVER breaks them.Rule #1 --- > Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for.Rule #2 ---- > Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship (when this isn’t disclosed to me, it is not my fault)Rule #3 ---- > Never sleep with someone more than three times.Jaxon and his brother Jace are best friends with Emmy’s best friend Cole. This year, Jaxon and Jace move in with Cole, who happens to lives next door to Emmy. Jaxon may be the one to help Emmy reform, if only he can get her to stop pushing him away.Whatever, your heart knows what I am talking about, and one day your brain will catch upThis book was recommended to me by my BBF and she knows I am a very picky person when I read. So when I started the first page, I’ll tell ya…. I WAS HOOKED! From start to finish, there was not a dull moment and this read is completely a page turner. The number one reason why I loved this book so much is because there is no love triangle and there is no cheating, in fact the main Heroine is very adamant in not cheating. Do I typically like books where the Heroine is a slut? No, but do I like Emmy? YES, in fact I LOVED her and you get why she is the way she is. I love how she is confident, sassy and just doesn’t let people bring her down. You reckless, frustratingly beautiful girl, why are you out here all alone? You deserve to know how great it can be for someone to care about you. I don’t even know what a good relationship is.The beginning starts off with Emmy waking up from a hook-up, I know… I shake my head too, but it’s really funny, especially when she can’t find her clothes and yes has a meet cute with Jaxon! Oh Lord, let me tell you about Jaxon, he is so freakin’ swoon-worthy, drool-worthy, I- want-to-ride-his-bike please alpha male (and I have no desire to ride bikes).Jaxon and Emmy’s “relationship” is adorable. It’s basically Jaxon trying to tame the wild Emmy. And let me tell you …there are no frustrating parts. Emmy doesn’t go in circles and I never wanted to rip my hair out. The writing was smooth, but there was plenty of tension to be engaging and entertaining. I really needed this read after a few dramatic ones. Oh and the side characters, I LOVE THEM. Quinn (Emmy’s best friend), Jace, and Cole, are all awesome and I am stoked about book 2, Jace’s Story.Kimberly Lauren is a fantastic writer and if you were on the fence with Beautiful Broken Rules, I am here to take you off your fence. Yes, all five feet and two inches of me will pick you up and take you off. Read it!For more review and author interview - > Jacqueline’s Reads

****** Beautiful Broken Rules is now LIVE!!! http://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Broke... So, emotional, heart wrenching, taking you on a roller coaster stars.Em is the school slut. She knows it and has no problem sleeping around. But there are rules. Certain rules that she goes by so, she will never have to be put in a situation where, she will get attached or hurt. The rules#1. Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for. #2. Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship. #3. Never sleep with someone more than three times.Meet Em Em, is very hard on her rules, never breaks them even if the guy is great in bed. She blocks up this wall around everyone so she won't get hurt, never shows her true feelings because of her past, the demons that have made her this girl.Cole is Em's best friend, he lives in the same apartment complex then her and Quinn and now his two best friends from his home town are moving in with him, they all go to college together. Em meets Jax and he is drop dead makes your knees weak sexy.Meet JaxI feel in love with Jax the moment Em laid eyes on him. Em has meet her match when it comes to sweet talking Jax. He is a ladies man where the girls just fall to their knees with his sexy voice. Breaking down walls to try to be with Em, Jax throws his heart out there so many times, you just watch to bitch slap Em for not seeing it and being so damn scared. These two almost gave me a damn heart attack worrying so much about what the other one is going to do.“He finished quickly, closed my fingers into my palm and kissed them. I slowly uncurled them to read his message, which was written boldly across the expanse of my palm. One word that screamed a whole lot more. MINE.”It has been awhile since I read a book that kept me up at night. I stayed up till around 4 in the morning just to finish this book, I did not care if I had to work in a couple of hours. I just know I had to finish this. I was pulled into this within the first couple of pages. It drew me and kept me wound up in such a emotional wreck I was losing it at times.I feel such a emotional devotion with these two. It will leave you a wreck at times. I wanted it to happen so damn bad I had tears in my eyes for them... Once again they have become part of my favorite little group of characters that I want to lock up and read for my own enjoyment.Overall this book is simply amazing... I love it so much.I received a ARC kindly provided by the Author for exchange for an honest review.

LOVED IT!!Jaxon...Sexy fine man.. play's football..always been a skirt chaser..love'em and leave'em..Emerson...She's the female version of Jaxon....she doesn't mind being the girl that gives it up the most on campus. She enjoys sex and she has nothing to be ashamed about. She's gorgeous and knows it. She's also emotionally unavailable to any man for more than anything but sex. And one of her main rules is to never have sex with one guy more than 3 times... When Jaxon moves in with his twin and her best guy friend right next door to her and her sister's apartment, Em knows she'll be sleeping with Jaxon no matter what eventually. The sparks fly the minute they lay eyes on each other. But Jaxon see's more in Emerson than she wants anyone to see... eventually he's breaking down the walls she's built around her heart. He's never wanted one woman before..but now that he's become close to Emerson and..no one else will do. She's it for him...Emerson truly struggles to let Jaxon into her heart...but she finally does and she's happier than she's ever been. But as always, her happiness is threatened...she's always looking over her shoulder.. not trusting her feelings or Jaxon's feelings. She's knows she's going to do something to mess it up.“Damn it, Emerson, just stop!” he yelled, “Stop pretending you don’t care. Why won’t you let me in? Why won’t you let me care about you? Because for some maddening reason, I do!” She manages to piss Jaxon off enough that he wonders if its all really worth it. The he gives up , after promising Em he never would....and Em is left heartbroken just like she always knew she would be.....“Jaxon, stop saying all of this, it’s not necessary.” I grabbed his waistband again. “I’m going to be better now, I swear. Let me apologize.” I took a deep breath and said, “I love you.” I watched as he winced in pain at my words. That was definitely not the reaction I was hoping for. Just then the gravity of the situation started to hit, so I lowered my voice to a whisper as I looked up at him. “Don’t do this, I love you.”Now don't freak out.. this is an HEA so of course they don't stay apart for long... they both still love each other and live next door to each other so neither can get very far. Jaxon soon realizes the mistake he made letting her walk away and Em realizes she never should have walked to begin with.. You know what you are getting when you read this story....falling in love, messing it up, then putting it all together again. This one had some angst but nothing it really wasn't to bad at all. I really loved Emerson and Jaxon's journey together and the sweet HEA made me smile and sigh out loud.. This was a good one.. “Tell me that you want me,” he whispered. “I want you.” Always. “Only me?” “Only you.” Had there ever been anyone else?I grabbed both of his hands and interlocked my fingers with his.   “You said you thought you made me weaker and that’s just not true. You make me stronger. You make me appreciate what I have and want to be a better person for you.”The End...

Emerson......“I have three rules: never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for, never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship (when this isn't disclosed to me, it is not my fault), and finally, never sleep with someone more than three times."She's the school slut but she's ok with that because she hates or just refuses to be in a relationship. So she made some rules and she tries to stick by them. She's lost important people in her life and she doesn't want to go through that pain again. So far it's worked out well for her.......so FAR that is....things change when you least expect them too.Jaxon......He shows up in Emerson's life because they have a mutual best friend, Cole, and they end up living next door to one another. He breaks her down piece by piece....she unravels all her tight kept secrets. Because let's face it...who is not going to fall in love or lust with man a 6'plus, football player, body built for sin and tattoos. I mean right there is a recipe that's disastrous to any woman! "“I’ll show you how great we are going to be. Because you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met, and I’m not talking about your gorgeous face, your stunning hair or your drop-dead sexy body. I never knew it was possible to be so attracted to your best friend”Emerson is just so reluctant to share herself with Jaxon....I mean mentally not psychically.....she does just fine in that department. But Jaxon is just as determined to have everything from her.....he's fallen in lurve....and he can't help himself. He sure as hell doesn't want anyone else to have her or touch her......quite the possessive little devil;)“I don’t care what label you put on it, but you’re mine regardless. I won’t share.”Im not going to tell you anymore though because you need to read the book if you want more details than that!!!!!What worked for me in this book was, I was extremely happy not to have a sniveling virgin to read about. I seriously need a break from them!!! I also loved the secondary characters...Cole, Quinn and Jace. I was very interested in them and I can't wait for Jace's book...I think I secretly liked him better than Jaxon...sorry but true. What didn't work for me.....I'm not sure but I never felt a strong connection to either character. However I didn't not like them at the same time, just something held me back. With that being said the book was a good quick fun read for me.....it was just ok.I hope Jace will have a book.....I really really really liked him for some reason!!I found this pic after I wrote this review but it actually sums up the whole book, so I thought I'd share...Happy reading!!Buddy read with one of my fav's Vishous!!!!

I so wanted to like this book more but I just couldn't. It started really promising and I really liked Em as a character but honestly with time she became really annoying and I didn't feel anything toward her as a character except she made me feel utter frustration. When it comes to Em and Jax as couple.... well honestly I felt nothing there! Nothing at all! I had a feeling like author wanted to insert so much drama in first 50% that I was actually afraid to read what will happen next. They as a couple and some situations reminded me too much of BEAUTIFUL DISASTER and I just missed something all the time.I actually ended loving side characters more then main.Cole and Quinn won my heart! (view spoiler)[ I think that their first kiss was the cutest first kiss I ever read.... so adorable!(hide spoiler)]Jace, Jax's brother.... omg I love that man and I hope there will be his book too because with every chapter I just wanted more and more of him! There was one situation that made me feel really bad for Em :( it was really sad to read it, finally when she decided to let go of rules/control and then..... just sad :(Jax was....hmmmm.... I don't know... I really didn't connect to him or to Em so much. It was like he was too much of drama. I don't know how else to describe it :( He was just too much of everything in such a short time :(I was really wanting to give it 2 stars but then! Then Jax gave a speech which I did like even though part of it reminded me of BD again. And then came the epilogue in his POV and made it all better. I am a bit disappointed because I did expect something much more then I got.I am not sorry I read this book because I did have some fun reading it but I just missed something all the time :(

4.5 Stars (Re-Read 7/31/2017)5 Stars (First Read 11/19/2015)I loved this!! It was definitely worth the reread. I'd forgotten how much I loved these characters. I also liked that the story took place over a large portion of the school year, giving the relationship time to grow and seem plausible. There were jumps and we didn't get to see every interaction the characters had, but that has never bothered me.- Emerson -I've never really had an opinion on heroines (or heroes) who sleep around. I know some hate 'em and some love 'em, but a character that has a lot of sex has never been a big deal for me.What I do hate is slut shaming, so I **LOVED** reading about a strong female who didn't let others shame her. I really liked the confidence and attitude that Emerson had (and held) throughout the novel. She didn't apologize for who she was, nor did she get irrationally angry when someone called her out on it. She was a very strong lead IMO, and easily one of my favorite heroines.I also loved that she didn't go back to her old self when she so easily could have. (view spoiler)[Jax breaks up with her (after some miscommunication and fears), and yeah she talks a good game about becoming "Em" again and hooking up with random guys, but she doesn't end up doing it. She even begs Jax not to leave her at the end, and I think that was awesome because she was still giving it 110% even though she was embarrassing herself. (hide spoiler)] So many heroines (and heroes) slip back into old ways in situations like this, but she didn't. She proved she changed for good and not just for him (or because she hated being a "slut"), but for herself and I loved that.- Jax -He was awesome, and frankly taken advantage of a little bit. I know she cared about him and she didn't actively set out to hurt him. Her goal had always been to prevent pain. How come every time I wanted to avoid hurting him, all I did was hurt him more?So when Emerson kept saying "he's so understanding" or "of course he'll understand," I was a little annoyed. Even understanding people need to have their feelings considered, and for so long Jaxon's were kind of forgotten. But like she said, he was so understanding about it and he was so patient with her, and (view spoiler)[I think the break up actually did a lot of good because she needed to realize that no matter her pain she had to consider him at least a little bit. And her initial lack of panic proved that she didn't. (hide spoiler)]I also loved how protective he was without being a douche. I know Emerson didn't really see it that way but she didn't always have the best perspective because of what she thought about her parents and relationships to realize how genuine he was. Overall, he was awesome and I didn't really dislike/not understand anything he did. Yeah, it sucked sometimes how he hurt Emerson, but like I said, he has feelings too and he also got proud and hurt just like she did so I never really thought anything he did was out of line or malicious. And I loved his really sweet moments..."I realized you weren't mine at all. I. Am. Yours."Cole still gave me a hard time about how I made him ask some random sorority girls to sit next to him in class that first day, so that I could get her to sit next to me.As far as the plot goes, it's standard NA. I don't mean that as a bad thing, it just is what it is. There is OP drama and miscommunication, which I've noticed is somewhat typical with NA reads. Sometimes it bothers me, other times it doesn't. I don't have a hard and fast rule against either of those aspects, it just depends on the story. Here I felt it worked. Did I get frustrated with their choices? Yes, absolutely. But I could also see where they were coming from. They're also young and prone to making mistakes. The only reason for the slight deduction is that something about the last 20% left me craving a little bit more. I've become spoiled with dual POVs and I think I would have liked to have gotten more of Jax's in-depth thoughts. We do see his thoughts in the epilogue, but I wanted a better understanding of what was going on in his mind during the break-up. Like I said above, I understand why he felt he had to break up with her, but I just wish I had that insight. Particularly when (view spoiler)[he takes Emerson out of Cole's bed... that was far too possessive for someone who broke up with her, so I would have loved his thoughts during that scene (hide spoiler)].Either way I loved this...Now on to book two where I shall go fall in love with Jax's brother...Safety: (view spoiler)[There is OP drama but there is never any technical cheating. There are definitely gray areas because their relationship is very push and pull, but I never felt like they wanted to be with other people. None of it is descriptive so it didn't bother me. *Note: I don't require my books to be safe in order to enjoy them though* (hide spoiler)]Closure: (view spoiler)[There is an epilogue three months later where Jax and Emerson reunite after three months apart (not a separation, she was traveling). It's probably more of a HFN ending, and even though I've become a bit obsessed with detailed epilogues that take place farther in the future, I don't mind HFN in YA/NA. It feels a bit more appropriate. But Jax does have this thought in the epilogue...I already had the rock that I would slide onto her finger one day.So I was still satisfied :) (hide spoiler)]["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

4 “I’m-in-love-with-Texas” Stars!!!!!!!!!!We all have a little slut in us, don’t we? No? Is it just me?I’m the school slut. I hate that word; but sometimes it is what it is, or in my situation, I am what I am. I like guys, all kinds of them and lots of them.Emerson is a slut. She knows it. She knows why she’s a slut. She has three rules that she sticks to in order to keep herself safe. Don’t we all create rules for ourselves to keep us safe? Even if we recognize that we’re even doing it. But Emerson knows what she’s doing. She has loved and lost , so she needs safety to...keep her sanity……because if they aren’t cheating, they’re dying. My Emerson:Jaxon is….temptation. Even though nothing can tempt Emerson, Jaxon does. He is her kryptonite. (He’s MY kryptonite! LOL!) He is so perfect for her because he pushes her outside of her comfort zone and into her danger zone where she has to confront and break her rules. Jaxon breaks the walls down around Emerson’s heart, but what’s great is that she didn’t even know he was doing it. Your voice is a little like cocaine. You could bottle that stuff up and sell it. You would make a killing, especially with the sorority bimbos. Can I pay you just to talk to me all day?My Jaxon:”I understand what people think of me.”“If they think you are beautiful, feisty, and brilliant, then I would agree with them. Anything else, I don’t care about.”What’s beautiful about this book is that their love feels effortless. I felt myself falling with them. Yes, they had their ups and downs, but I wouldn’t call it angst. It was real stuff. They start out as friends, so their love is comfortable and I could just sink right down in it and go to sleep. The contrast between his rough pulling in one hand and the sweet caress of the other was invigorating. He know I loved a little of both."Please stop running from me.”“Please stop trying to catch me.”Here’s to honor. Get on her. Stay on her. If you fall off. Get back on her. If you can’t cum in her. Cum on her!**Note to Ms. Lauren:**I love you. Too much? I love how you write. It was so easy to read this story. I am fan :).The next book is Jace’s story, and I am ready!!!!

I loved this book soooo much! I seriously You know the normal storyline of college NA romances... 2 People from opposite worlds meet Tattooed/pierced motorcycle riding bad boyPreppy princess Insta chemistry He’s a man whoreShe’s a virgin He pursues her, and drops all other women. There’s always an ex bitch causing troubleShe falls for him but doesn’t want to cos he’s bad newsHe falls hard for her, but feels he doesn’t deserve her They screw up Are too stubborn to do anything so break up MiserableTry to get over each other till the BFF kicks there assGrand gesture of love Back together HEA This is a awesome new take on an old favourite… The new twist being? Our heroine Emmerson is a SLUT! Yes kids.. You read that right not a virgin, or in a committed relationship for 1 billion yrs. She enjoyed sex so she had it.. a lot… She lives by 3 rules…Never sleep with someone a friend has feelings for. Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationshipNever sleep with someone more than 3 times. And then her best friend Cole’s, best friends move in next door to her… Everything changes upon meeting Jaxon. I’m not gunna tell you about Em and Jaxon’s first meeting… Or Jace and Em’s first meeting.. They need to be read on your own. But they are both great!! Actually I have decided I am not going to tell you much about what happens. I know I should as really this is a book review. But it is just too beautiful to not read it first hand. Kimberley Lauren has written an AYE-MAZE-ING first debut. I will def be checking out anything else she throws my way. Even if it’s a doodle on a napkin! Or a grocery list!I was drawn into the story from the first page until the end of the book.Couldn’t get enough! Jaxon is just beautiful. LOVE HIM Not only is he hot. Has tattoo’s. Rides a motorbike. He is just an amazing guy and totally up there as new and beloved Book Boyfriend!Emerson – I liked her from the beginning. I liked her a lot more when she went from being Em to Emmerson. She eventually redeemed herself in my eyes…Great secondary characters in here as well! OH AND THE EPILOGUE!?!? IN JAXON’S POV!!!Just please please please do yourself a favour and read this book!

Read More Reviews| Find Me on Facebook “One thing I know for sure and have come to terms with- I’m the school slut.”Yep, that is Emerson or Em as she likes to be called. That is how you are introduced to Em on the very first page and well, she is right; she’s the school slut. Em has had a lot of loss & pain in her life. Her parents died when she was 15 and she learned love does not last forever. Either they die or they cheat on you. Because of this she has created three rules to live by when it comes to men.Em’s Rules:1) Never sleep with someone a friend has feelings for.2) Never sleep with someone else’s boyfriend/husband.3) Never sleep with someone more than three times. Em lives by these rules; she makes no exceptions for anyone. She thinks she is happy with this arrangement and all she needs is her two best friends, Cole & Quinn. Everything changes when Em meets Jaxon and suddenly everything changes no matter who hard Em tries to make Jax the same as all the other boys before him.I will be honest, at first I hated Emerson. Forget the fact she is HOT with an amazing body and D cup boobs, she is a slut. She sleeps around and doesn’t care. It took me awhile to get into her character. you do not often read a story where the girl is the “bad” girl who doesn’t “do relationships.” I loved the story and the other characters especially Cole but Em took some getting used to. Then it changed and I begin to understand Em and what she has been through to make her feel & act the way she does with men. I begin to really love her character. She is way more than the “school slut” as she puts it.Jax is amazing. I want a Jax is my life to love and adore me no matter my past or how hard I want him out. I want a man that would fight for me like Jax does for Em and I fell completely in love with him myself. Jax moves to Southern California from Texas for college and the fact he is a football star makes him even HOTTER. He has his own past but not like Em; he’ll do anything to be with her and force her to open up to him. Did I mention he has a twin, an identical twin… oh my…Your beauty has me blind to all others. My eyes will always find you in a crowd. My favorite part of the day is when I get to hear you laugh. One day you’ll let someone in and he’ll be a lucky bastard. One day you are going to discover how beautiful and strong you are.I hope that I’m standing right next to you holding your hand when you do.Beautiful Broken Rules is not only a wonderful romance novel with hot men, yep plural! It has depth and emotional, more than I ever thought. I love when a fun book becomes so much more and Beautiful Broken Rules is just that. I read the book within a day, not because it is short but because I could not put it down! I just had to read the scene when Em’s emotional wall would come falling down and finally let Jax in her heart. I knew the scene would be epic and it was.Ms. Kimberly Lauren did a fantastic job with the characters. I felt so emotionally invested in all 5 characters from Emerson & Jax, to Quinn & Cole, and even Jace (Jaxon’s twin). I loved each and every character and would love to read a book about any one of them, especially Jace **hint, hint**. This is just a fantastic story that is unique and different in every way. I am so honored the author gave me an ARC copy to read & review because I adored this story. Thank you Kimberly Lauren!I hope everyone reads Beautiful Broken Rules and falls in love with the characters and storyline just like I did. You won’t be disappointed!I give Beautiful Broken Rules 4.5 Stars.ARC provided by the author in return for an honest review.

Oh how I loved this book!! It had been on my short list for a while but I just kept letting other things get in front of it. Wow, it was amazing!! Meet Emerson"Your voice is a little like cocaine. You could bottle that stuff up and sell it. Can I pay you just to talk to me all day?"She's the self proclaimed school slut. No seriously, that's the way she refers to herself. She admits openly she likes guys and sex and doesn't mind being known for it. The thing is there's things that happened in her past that makes her avoid relationships at all costs. So she made up a set of rules to protect herself. 1)Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for.2)Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship.3)Never sleep with someone more than three times. Everything was working out fine in her life with these rules until the morning she met Jaxon Riley."You have to stop worrying that you'll lose me. There's nowhere else in this world that I want to be. I love you, beautiful girl."At first glance she notices how gorgeous he is. But then when she finds out he's the guy that is going to be moving in next door with her best friend. They start out as quick friends but over time start growing closer and closer. She knows she wants him and that it will eventually happen between them, but once it does she realizes that he's different and trouble for her with a capital T. Soon enough Jaxon starts breaking down her walls but with the fears she's had her whole life about being left and cheated on nothing comes easy for for them. "Please stop running from me,"he whispered."Please stop trying to catch me,"she said getting up to leave. This story was amazing. I absolutely adored Jaxon. He was was hot all around. I have a thing for tattoos, bad boys on bikes, and football players. He was all of the above. Not to mention he was so sweet, and had the most unbelievable amount of patience. I loved the fact that even when Em was being "hard to get along with" (view spoiler)[(taking all of those guys upstairs) (hide spoiler)] and trying to push Jaxon away he was there to make sure she was alright even when it was killing him.[image error] And Emerson, yeah, she's not your typical heroine, but come on she was quirky and spoke her mind. She wasn't ashamed of who she was either. I didn't 100% agree with everything she did, especially when it came to decisions related to Jax but she learned from her mistakes and owned them. And she never tried to be something that she wasn't."Tell me that you want me,"he whispered."I want you." Always."Only me?""Only you." Had there ever been anyone else? This story also had amazing secondary characters. Quinn, Cole, and Jace. I loved these characters just as much as the primary characters, and I would give anything to be in their little click to hang out and watch movies or catch a frat party. Cole and Quinn are like the worlds best friends EVER!!! And then Jace, OMG he needs his own book. I want to know so much more about him. Hell, I want to know more about all of these characters. As much as I want Jace to have a book I feel like I need a little bit more from Jax and Emerson. What happens next, can everything just automatically be a HEA between them? I mean the guy in the end was preparing..."for a future" with her and I want know I need to read about it. Read this book, whatever you do it's amazing and will not leave you disappointed. :)"I just met you and I'm amazed by you already. You beauty has me blind to all others. One day you'll let someone in and he'll be a lucky bastard. One day you are going to discover how beautiful and strong you are.I hope that I'm standing right next to you holding your hand when you do.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

After noticing how many books I have in my paused folder on my Kindle, I decided that I would for the foreseeable future try - however hard it may be, to finish them.I hate pausing books. It's a complete waste of money, though at the same time it's hardly putting a hole in my wallet with the little they do cost on Kindle. At least that's what I tell myself at the time.I'll most likely regret putting myself through the torture of re-reading paused books, especially the ones where I cant remember why I did it in the first place. There are only two reasons I, and I'm guessing everyone else pauses books - and that's:1. They suck! You cant go on, or you may just break out in hives.Or.2. A book that cant possibly wait to be read, has just caught your eye.At the time i re-picked this book up, I couldn't recall which category to place this. Now that I've read it, it's definitely the former. Now don't get me wrong, I did actually to an extent enjoy the first few chapters. Emerson wasn't TOO bad a character at the time, to read. Also the Riley brothers were HOT to trot. However after a while I started to despise Emerson.Actually as soon as that happened, I completely recalled why this book was shelved in the first place. Emerson.I hated her reasoning behind why she was, in short - A whore.Someone not wanting to be tied down by anyone.Sure it was a horrible experience, but her 'life lessons' that were taken from that horrible experience and her conclusions were totally unreasonable. (view spoiler)[ How can you come to the conclusion that your parents are cheating with each other just by them being in the same car together? They were her parents?(hide spoiler)]And then base your whole life around your assumption of what you thought happened. The whole thing just seemed ridiculous. The feelings between her and Jaxon didn't translate to me. I at times found myself skipping over words without reading them, bored out of my brains - to be completely honest. If I had to pick a character from the bunch that I didn't want to destroy, it'd have to be Jace!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Emerson has three rules for her life:1. Never sleep with someone that a friend has feelings for2. Never sleep with someone who is in a known relationship3. Never sleep with someone more than three timesEmerson was named after Ralph Waldo Emerson who this quote is from. Growing up this quote is something her mother would say to her:A piece of advice from Emerson's step mom:"Don't hold back your life because of the choices someone else made." Emerson has decide if she wants to take a chance and trust Jaxon with her heart. "I realized you weren't mine at all. I. AM. YOURS."SERIES:Can be read as standalones

5 Incredible Amazing Can't believe this is a debut novel I have a new favorite author stars! :-) So I'm just going along doing my GR thing... And I get a book rec from a friend for this book. Like I usually do, I check out the blurb and see what its all about then check the recommender's review. After all that I check the price. * Blurb sounded pretty awesome: ✔* Review is enough to make me want to read it: ✔* Price is one that I'm willing to pay: ✔ So I one click and decide to go ahead and start right then since I wasn't reading anything else at that moment. I. Did. Not. Want. To. Put. It. Down!Curse my work schedule! As soon as I finished the first couple pages I knew I should have waited till the next day to start this, seeing as I had to go to bed to get up at O'dark early! :| Then I had to suffer through my few hours at work till I could get home and get back to the AWESOMENESS that is this book! I freaking loved it! The first meeting between Jaxon and Emerson was to die for hilarious! That girl had balls! I loved her! Jaxon (and Jace by default, seeing as they had the same face [image error]) were so swoon worthy. I have found my next book boyfriend(s)! The story here is one that is at times heartbreaking and at others so sweet and melt your heart gooey that I just wanted to jump in there and live it with these amazing characters. The way Emerson had closed herself off was so sad but then Jax came along and he plowed right through her barriers. Girl never stood a chance! All the characters here were so well written that I really felt a connection to them all. I was invested in them and determined to see them to their HEA's. Even down to Jaxon's mom who we only met once and same with Ellie. They were such minor characters that somehow played major roles. Jace, Cole and Quinn were the best friends a girl in Emerson's situation (or anyone really) could have asked for. I want to say so much more but I fear I'll spoil things and for once, I don't want to give any spoilers! This was a really great book! I was really surprised to learn it was a debut too. The author's style was a perfect fit for me and I can't wait to read more from her! And for those that are curious, I asked to make sure and there WILL be a book for Jace. (Although the date is unknown)

3.5~StarsI started out totally loving this book. Praise sweet virgin baby Buddha, finally a girl that gets to wear the dick for once. I'm so sick of hot manwhores with their de-virginizing overalls popping cherries right and left.In Beautifully Broken Rules the girl gets to do the sleeping around. The girl gets to be the dude! And it. Is. Awesome!!!! It was about damn time a confident, sexual heroine took her "I love sex" axe and chopped down the damn cherry tree! Hooray!!!!!!However, once I got over my female heroine crush, I was left with a really good story, but not necessarily an OH MY GOD great story. After a while, I started to get a little bored. With such a strong start, I guess I expected it to keep up that momentum. Too much started to be told to me and I wanted...I wanted a little bit...more.I am extremely glad I read this book. You will completely fall in love with the characters, firstdary and secondary. What it lacks in plot; it definitely rebounds with some pretty bad ass characters!READ ON!More reviews at: http://www.toughcriticbookreviews.blo...

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. Let's talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly... Shall we?The Good:Anything written during the college years instantly bring me back in time. It is so nostalgic for me. Lauren's writing helped me relive those cherished times. Her storytelling was spot on. I was hopelessly caught up in this story. Through all the drama and conflict, I couldn't quit it. I wanted needed to know what was going to happen. Her characters were so developed and personable. The friendships were envious. The Bad:Speaking of friendships, why the hell do they put up with Emerson's crap!? I get that she is a deeply flawed character, but she is selfish and a tad bit bitchy. One could argue that Quinn held the crew together; she is Em's sister, and Cole probably puts up with Em for Quinn. But, how does one explain Jace? He literally takes Emerson's side over his brother. WTF?Poor Jax always got the short end of the stick. Emerson decides to flee to do something ridiculous or melodramatic, but her too-perfect boytoy gets the blame. EVERY. TIME. Jax is upset that she keeps running off to do stupid shit but that somehow makes him the bad guy. And heaven-forbid that he should stand up for himself and express his feelings. He hurt Em by telling her HOW HE FELT, so now he's a douche. *rolls eyes*I hated that aspect of the book. Now for the The Ugly:I'm a busy gal. Most people like to listen to music while running errands, doing housework, or working out - not me. I prefer to listen to audiobooks. Yep, I opted for the audiobook. What a mistake... While she did a fantastic job of storytelling and expressing emotion, her voice acting was terrible. Emerson's voice was over-the-top Californian Valley girl. Quinn's voice was pitchy and childish. But the worst of all? Jax. He sounded like an old Cajun lady who was recovering from laryngitis. I cannot get all swoony over an old lady with laryngitis! And Emerson already irked me, but when you added in her annoying voice....#purerageI can't really explain it, but I still want to give this book 4 stars. I feel like if I would have actually read the book over listening to it, I would have enjoyed it more. I am still certain that Emerson would have still annoyed me, but without that terrible voice, she would have been more tolerable. I also could have really enjoyed Jax's character more. He would have been attractive and swoon-worthy. The story is really good. And I love it takes place over an extended period of time. Lauren let the reader really get to see the characters grow and mature. So, 4 stars? *shrugs*

4.5 stars. This was a very enjoyable read with the exception of my hatred for runners in books. :) It fits in well along with other general NA books. It had a great storyline and kept me interested and was an easy read.
