Freebie on Amazon! Cute story about a couple who are brought together by circumstance and coincidence. It was good, but also nothing really special even if I find it well written with a crazy plot and a set of lovely characters.

Thank Goodness For FriendsThis is a sweet sensual romance that will make you laugh. She decides that she is not going to do what she thinks her guardian wants, so she makes a run for it with her best friend. And of course all kinds of situations occur when you leap before you look at all aspects of something. This is a fun quick Regency romance that is entertaining and a nice way to spend some time. Enjoy I did!

I'm an avid fan of Claudy Conn and this regency romance does not disappoint. *Warning* There is some sexual content.Felicia Easton has lost her parents and has been living at her home, Easton Manor, being taken care of by her staff. She'll be turning 21 soon and will be able to live the life she chooses until she receives a letter from her guardian, the Duke of Somerset. He is coming for her and from his letter she thinks he's going to take her away. She thinks he's going to marry her off and she's not having it. Her childhood and best friend, Scott Hanover, hatches a plan to take Felicia to London to his aunt. On the way, Scott is shot by a highwayman. Luckily, a gentleman comes along in a carriage and takes them both to a safe inn. She introduces herself and says they are brother and sister. The gentleman is Glen Ashton, a handsome rogue and they are very attracted to each. Glen knows that Felicia is hiding something from him.Glen Ashton, the Duke of Somerset has inherited his uncle's holdings and the guardianship of Felicia Easton. He has no choice but to do the right thing by her. On his way, he comes across a young woman and her brother who was shot. He is told of the story and he takes them to a safe inn. The doctor is called and Glen makes arrangement for their stay and some new clothes for them. He's become quite taken with Felicia as she is with him. She's a beautiful "madcap" that drives him crazy and he drives her crazy because of his code of honor. Will these two find out who they really are and can things work out for them? Loved the secondary characters of Scott and the girl he falls in love with, Rebecca Wilson who becomes Felicia's dear friend and then their is Glen's sister Lady Daphne Waverly and her husband Freddy who sponsor Felicia for her season. They all made this story. There is romance, adventure, danger and some fun hijinks. I loved this story and so highly recommend it!

Felicia is a wealthy young lady by birth. Orphaned and left as the ward of the Duke of Somerset. He tries to do right by her until her 21st birthday but life happens and his heir Glen Ashton doesn't check his mail. This book contains lots of adventure and humor because of Felicia and friend Scott. Another great regency romance by Claudy!

2.5 Fluffy Stars“I am your guardian, nothing more.”Madcap Miss was a freebie on Bookbub yesterday and reading the reviews I eagerly downloaded it. Sadly, my expectations were a bit too high. This is my first Claudy Conn book, and while it wasn’t as wonderful as the reviews claimed, it was still a decent read.Glen Ashton, the new Duke of Somerset learns that he inherited a ward that needs to be handled. He set off to meet her and met a young lady on the road whose brother has been shot. He assists them, becomes attracted to the innocent, but madcap, young woman and ends up in bed with her.Felicia Easton’s desire to runaway from the old Duke of Somerset leads to her best friend, Scott being shot. With the help of the gorgeous Mr. Ashton, Scott survives and Felicia falls head over heels for their hero and gives herself to him. Then she learns that he is her new guardian and he plans to take her to London to marry her off.“Fluffy” is the best adjective I can use to describe this book. It had no depth and was just frivolous. While well written, it was so insubstantial that I almost put it down a time or three, but I found myself somewhat charmed by the characters, and felt I had to finish it. It’s a predictable story and a bit silly, but all in all, a decent read for a freebie.

She is only a few months from her twenty-first birthday and suddenly her guardian is interested in her welfare. She has done quite well on her own since the two years since her father and stepmama have passed away. She just knows the old curmudgeon is going to marry her off to someone, before that happens she is going to take control.Glen Ashton, Duke of Somerset isn't ready to take over his uncle's position. He never planned on being a duke. Thanks to the war and his uncle's death, he has no choice. And it seems he has inherited a ward along with everything else. On the way to collect her, he gets waylaid by a beautiful woman and her brother who need his help. Who is he to turn down a damsel in distress?I enjoy all of this author's books, but I really enjoyed this story. The characters, both main and secondary, come alive. There is a touch of adventure, danger and of course...romance.**Sexual content

Another delightful tale from the very talented Claudy Conn. In this love story we get a wildly creative plot and intriguing characters. These characters pull the emotion from you and amuse you at the same time. Felicia (Flip) is a spit fire, She finds herself in a bit of a situation. Her Guardian informs her that he is coming to fetch her to marry her off. But she will be having none of that. She and her best friend Scott make a plan. He wants to help her. So they set off and start their plan in motion, well their plan does not work as they wanted HaHa!! I can't say more or I will spoil it :) In their travels they meet the mysterious Glen Ashton who manages to save them. Felicia is very grateful and Glen really does not know what to make of this spit fire of a girl. Can Felicia keep up the ruse that she and Scott planned or will she open up to Ashton? Can Ashton help the beautiful Felicia? and in the process will he lose himself and his heart her. He knows she is unlike any other woman he has ever met. Read this! Expect to laugh, sigh and may be even cry! Loved this book and you will too!

Pleasant, lighthearted readFelicia, a 20 year old beauty has been raised in the country as a tomboy with a great deal of freedom along with her best friend, Scott, since they were toddlers. Within the past two years she lost both parents and other than some ambiguous letters from her guardian, has continued to live as she has (with the aid of an imaginary, elderly relative) and has no plans to change. Two months before she attains legal independence on her 21st birthday, she receives an ominous letter from her guardian stating his intent to take her in hand and move her from her beloved home. She believes he has unscrupulous intent to marry her off to an undesirable relative or friend. She and Scott put their heads together and decide the only option is for him to take her to London and beg his aunt to allow her to stay there until her birthday. Of course plans, especially rash ones, tend to go astray. Due to a delayed departure, they find themselves lost, in the dark and far from their destination. They hear a gunshot and Scott decides he must ride to the rescue but the friends find themselves in need instead. Deliverance is not far behind in the form of a dashing gentleman who takes them to an inn and sees to their needs. Felicia provides a story of half truths and as Scott is healing, a romance develops between her and her "knight in shining armor," Glen Ashton. Unbeknownst to Felicia, the old duke has passed on and a younger but somewhat unwilling relative inherits the rank along with all its wealth, property and unwanted responsibilities including a badly botched guardianship. He convinces his sister, Daphne to sponsor his guardian for a season in London and they arrange to meet at the girl's home and travel together back to London. Daphne arrives only to discover his ward missing along with the son of a neighboring squire and a letter from her brother that he's been unavoidably delayed. Madcap does not just describe Miss Felicia but pretty much the whole cast and plot of this fun to read historical romance. It is filled with loveable characters and even the bad guys are somewhat of a caricature. There is a single "bedroom" scene unsuitable for younger readers and unruly thoughts and daydreams referring back to it as well as some heated kisses. The language is mild. Even though the outcome is relatively predictable, what novel in this genre is not? "Madcap Miss" is a well written, fun to read, feel good story that women need to indulge in from time to time!

Another fantastic Risque Regency Romance by the awesomely talented Claudy Conn. Felicia is a couple month's shy of her 21st birthday, where she will receive her inheritance. Felicia's parents died and she is the ward of the Duke of Somerset, who has pretty much ignored her until recently. When he finds out she is living without an adult in the house with her, he sends word he will be collecting her. Felicia worries that he will try and marry her off. She enlists her best friend Scott for help in this matter, and they devise a plan. Time goes by and they do not hear from the Duke and feel maybe he forgot or wasn't able to come. Then all of a sudden they find out he is on his way. So she and Scott set off to runaway to London to his Aunt's house. On the way the encounter highway men and Scott is shot. Felicia is on a deserted road, trying to figure out what to do when a handsome stranger appears and helps them out. Glen Ashton, now the Duke of Somerset is not happy about the new duties and obligations he must now take on since his Uncle died and passed the title to him. He now is on his way to take care of his new ward, when he encounters a young woman and man on the road, who needs his help. Now he must put off this duty to help them, for he is compelled to help her. This is a wonderful story of unknown identity. With wonderful adventure and romance. I Love Claudy's book and try to savor them, but I had to find out what happened, so I did a quick skim read and then went back and savored every word and moment. If you enjoy romance you'll love this.

Monstrous MessWhat I believe this author intended was something along the lines of the old Claudette Colbert/Clark Gable 'screwball' comedy, It Happened One Night. Unfortunately, what should have been sprightly dialogue and humorous misunderstandings was little more annoying prattling and plodding, repetitive action. The heroine, Felicia, acts closer to 15 than nearly 21, the hero, Glen, Duke of Somerset, comes off as a Sir Galahad, solving all the heroine's problems while being simultaneously dim when finally being told the truth of Felicia's present circumstances. A very contrived plot element involving kidnapping was included for no apparent reason than to introduce a new character into the story. If you are a fan of a Regency Era romances and have some care that the manners and mores' of the period be represented accurately, then you will likely be disappointed in Madcap Miss. Forms of address are too casual the attention to the era's proprieties is very uneven. To her credit, the author is fairly consistent with language, both of the upper classes/aristocracy as well as the patois of the working class. As far as the writing is concerned, the author struggles with continuity and phrasing (e.g. "He noted an odd look in her tone.). Bottom line: "Madcap Miss" is more of a monstrous mess. I can't recommend it when there are much better written and plotted Regency romances out there.

It has been a long time since I have read a historical romance. I became jaded with them after they started sounding the same. I actually would get some confused with others or they would run together. Madcap Miss was a breath of fresh air though I am not 100% sure why. The only negative thing I can say about this novel was that the dialogue seriously started to grate my nerves. The use of pet names was tedious. Every time someone addresses someone else, there were pet names involved. I am not sure about you but when I am having a conversation, I don’t randomly through the person’s name in unless I need to get their attention. Also, if someone called the female lead ‘madcap” one more time, I was going to go mad!I loved the dynamic between the two couples. Even though the lead couple was supposed to be Felicia and Glen, I found myself caring about the secondary couple (no spoilers) just as much! I appreciated that Felicia and Glen didn’t spend the entire novel fighting. They couldn’t fight their feelings, and honestly didn’t even try. Nothing makes me happier than a couple who genuinely cares about each other. All the characters were interesting, the storyline simple and easy to enjoy, and I found myself utterly content with how everything turned out. I didn’t expect such a raw sensual scene from this novel but it was a pleasant surprise. Overall, the novel seemed to be the complete package. I plan on reading more of from this author.

This was my first (that I can remember) book by Claudy Conn ,author, and my second time listening to Stevie Zimmerman, narrator. Personally, I don't think that a printed book or ebook can be compared to an audio book. I believe they totally complement one another. The author creates the characters and their personality, the story....the plot, but then a good narratorbreathes life into the characters by giving them voice with their cadence and accent, pronunciation, of the different languages. Flip was probably my favorite character because she was spunky and independent, however, all of the other main characters were wonderfully defined and executed. Stevie Zimmerman and Claudy Conn fully deserved 5 stars for this audio collaboration. I fully enjoy it and would recommend not only the book itself, but the audio version. Audiobooks give me more freedom to multi task while still listening and enjoying an excellent story.I really felt the disappointment Flip experienced from time to time with the fluctuations of her emotions relating to her situation and love. In my opinion, this is a Do Not Miss, book!

This was a really fun, light and enjoyable read! I loved it and liked that it wasn't so violent as some Historical Romance are. Our heroine is Miss Felicia Easton who has pretty much lived on her own for several years along with her staff and a boyhood neighbor who is just like a brother to her. Felicia gets a letter from her guardian saying that he is coming for her and she is in fear that he plans to marry her off to just anyone or one of his poor relatives. Her and her boyhood friend decide to go on the run to his Aunt's house. But the run into trouble along the way. Our hero, Glen Aston has taken over the title and finds he is in charge of a ward. He and his sister start to head to see Felicia. Glen goes on his own as he as set his sister on her way to come at another time. Glen find two people in need of help along the way that delays him in arriving at Felicia house. Glen and Felicia do not know each other and set their story of misunderstanding, love and some humor. Loved it and hope that you do too!

If you love historical romance, this book hits all the great elements. There's a bit of action, suspense, mischief, love, and friendship. Felicia is a madcap. She throws convention to the wind and lives to be happy. When she receives a letter that her guardian is coming to get her, her friend Scott hatches an ill thought out plan. On the way they experience adventure and complications. Lucky for them Glen Ashton comes to the rescue. Both Glen and Felicia have secrets or lies of omission. I love Glen and Felicia and when you add their friends to the story you get an interesting group that creates plenty of comical moments and gives you light heartedness. This is one of Claudy's best books and that is saying something because none of her books disappoint. You'll have times when you'd like to shake them by the shoulders, other times when all you can do is laugh and smile. This is a book that shouldn't be missed!

The story was interesting, but I saw hoping for more than 1 intimate scene before it ended. Serves me right for not looking up the definition of REGENCY romance vs. HISTORICAL romance.Aside from the lack of sexy-sexy time I expect out of a romance novel (otherwise, what's the point in reading it?), the author needs to find a decent copy editor for her next book. Seriously! There were extra words in places, sometimes missing words, and punctuation can change the meaning of a sentence, too! Even though I was disappointed with the lack of intimate scenes, I was more disappointed in the lack of editing. I originally wanted to give it a 1 start, but after discovering the definition of a regency romance, I would have given it a 3 star, but the poor editing brought it down to a 2 start.Overall, I'm glad I got it for free through BookBub & Amazon. I have learned my lesson & will be skipping any regency romance novels I come across.

Claude Conn doesn't disappoint with this historical romance. Felicia (Flip) is a young adult just shy of her twenty first birthday when her guardian, The Duke Glen Ashton, makes her acquaintance as Flip and her best friend Scott are attempting to make a run to get away from The Duke, whom they believe to be an old gritty man set on marry her off to one of his relatives. However, Glen Ashton is anything but old and as this suspense filled story unfolds finds himself head over heals in love with Flip. Love this story and this author's excellent writing.

DNF: Idiotic HeroineI couldn't get more than a quarter through this story. The heroine is an absolute idiot, jumping to conclusions and taking off on a hare-brained journey with utterly no thought whatsoever. Her best buddy is only slightly better. The author attempts to portray the hero as sympathetic, but he comes across as patronizing, although when he deals with Miss Too-Stupid-to-Live, patronizing can't be helped. This book would get only one star from me, but the clean editing bumps it up to two stars.

I adored this sweet sensual romance.... it made me laugh. Felicia, our headstrong heroine, decides that she is not going to do what her guardian wants, so she runs away with her best friend Scott. They face several adventures together, including being help up by a highwayman!!! She meets Glen and the sparks fly!!! This was a cool Regency romance, that was quite entertaining and a quick read. I enjoyed it and you will too!!!

Amusing taleFelicia and Scott have run away to prevent her ancient guardian from marrying her off to one of his relatives to get his hands on her inheritance. Along the way they meet Glen, then Becky, and these two life-long friends are smitten. However, there's still the matter of the guardian, and Felicia won't turn 21 for two more months. How could things possibly be worse? Don't ask, just read it for yourself.

This is wonderfully, sweet and sensual romance that will definitely give you the giggles. Felicia is strong willed and has been taking care of herself since the death of her parents. When her guardian calls on her and tells her that he will be bringing her back to live with him, her first thoughts is that he wants to marry her off, so she decides to escape with her best friend.A quick light read that I enjoyed very much.

This truly was quite stupid. The language was accurate for the century, but it got really irksome. And if I was supposed to be roused with feeling when it came to the love between these two, then my god if I ever had one, was this poorly executed. I got this off of Amazon for free. I would not pay for it.

The plot seemed interesting but after a while I stopped reading. I couldn't like any of the characters and especially I didn't like Scott saying the foxes were "killing chickens just for sport" (I mean, seriously????) so it was a good reason to hunt them.I suppose it's good karma he got shot in the shoulder some time later...

Madcap MissAnother delightful read by Claudy Conn. I enjoyed the adventures of the 3 couples, Glen and Felicia or Flip for her adventurous nature; Scott and Becky, and Daphne and Fred. This is a fun time period to visit. The author is at home in both Recency Period and Paranormal fun.

Two cute couples fall in love in this story. A misunderstanding leads to an adventure and love. The happy ending is well deserved after being shot at, running away from a high-handed guardian, being kidnapped, and fighting ones own heart. Lots of silly and serious parts. I always enjoy Claudy Conn books. Fun reading!
