Charlie Leyland Fox (f, 15, Charlize, magical powers) found out her parents Janet & Sam were only the guardians. The 2 began to explain to Charlie (Dulcedo) who her biological parents were: Lilly Leyland Fox (mother, clairvoyance, empathy, traveler) & Nathaniel Charlie Fox (father, telekinesis, telepathy, traveler) were killed maybe by Tru’s (gray wolf shifter) family.More information for Charlie to process. Kate & Jerold are not Jace (Dulcedo) & Rose’s (Dulcedo) parents.Sara & Robert are their biological parents & also on the council of the super naturals. The 2 parents (guardians) were taking Charlie to Callamose (city). The fountain was the gateway, the portal to the city. Kate, Jerold & Jace Webster (m), Rose as well as Janet, Sam & made it to the other side.Callamose streets were lined with jewels of all shapes, sizes & colors. There were purple or green scales Dragon’s everywhere.Eli Blacksmith (head elder) greeted them. Sara Webster (Jace’s mother), Robert Webster (Jace’s father), Zebby Zeb (853 yrs. old), Samira & Sonya were at the meeting also. Eli (Warlock) would teach Charlie how to control her powers. Charlie (aka Kitten, 5 elements), Asher (Vampire), Ziggy (Pixie), Thorn (lizard), & Prince Reese (Shining One) we’re off to find the machine. What will happen to Nikko? What will happen to Kate? & what about Crispin Cris (Traveler, Liege, TCHS)?I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one. A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written fantasy book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique delightful characters to keep track of. This could also make another great fantasy movie, or mini TV series. Not sure I really understood it. Didn’t like this 1 as well so I will rate it at 4/5 stars. Thank you for the free Goodreads; Author; PDF book Tony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Really great book! This book continued on from the first book and it was as intriguing and interesting as the first! I really enjoyed finding out where her parents had met and how she gained powers! I look forward to reading more from the author. I received this book from Goodreads First read giveaway!

Again, JL did a wonderful job. This book was much better then the first one. The story was beautifully written. I loved it. I was just sad about Nikko, why? But then the end made it better. I just loved this book.

Last week, I read A Spark of Magic by J.L. Clayton and loved it. (A Spark of Magic Book Review) I loved it so much that I put my next intended read on hold to read the sequel, A Blaze of Magic. There were so many unanswered questions and readers are left with a fantastically frustrating cliffhanger that I cannot imagine what those who read it before the sequel was released went through during that period! We were left wondering how Charlie was going to handle the fact that she was a supernatural with magic powers and that her Mum and Dad weren’t her real parents.A Blaze of Magic is quite different in comparison to the first novel. It is quite fast paced and there are many more supernatural happenings than in the first one. I read it quicker than the first one, over two nights. Whereas with A Spark of Magic, there was a lot of necessary characterisation to inform the reader of the key characters, A Blaze of Magic is pure, unadulterated action from start to finish. We are introduced to a number of new characters, Asher the vampire being my favourite, and after being totally anti-vampire up to now, I think Asher may be the exception to the rule. I’m not going to say whether he falls into the “goodie” or “baddie” camp as I wouldn’t want to give too much away but either way, he’s very alluring.Charlie gains her powers very early in the book and it seems that she is more than just your average supernatural being; she is a super-supernatural being called a Cypher. She has the ability to suck the powers from others to use herself and is expected to be the champion of the Supernaturals to destroy the Traveller, Crispin, the enigmatic, Christian Grey-like (in my opinion) character from the first book. However, she struggles to cope with the enormity of the task being put to her and she also struggles to control the powers that she has. Considering she is only 16 it is no surprise that she is finding it difficult to put her thoughts in order to deal with this situation, and like in the first book, it is easy to forget that Charlie is so young. One of the powers that Charlie acquires is to read the thoughts of the other characters. This works as a great technique to allow the reader to know what the other characters are thinking as Charlie gains her super-powers. However, when it is used to give clues about which of the characters from A Spark of Magic will betray Charlie and the other “sups”, I think it was all a bit too obvious. Perhaps this was the author’s intention but it could have been dragged out a bit more and been more of a surprise when Charlie is faced with her enemy. However, this is a small niggle, and does not by any means ruin the plot.Like in A Spark of Magic, the narrative voice switches from Charlie to other major characters in the book and the writing style for each voice is barely recognisable from the previous one. This is a real testament to Clayton’s writing ability and you really feel like the personality traits of each character is emanating from the page as she switches from snarky, self deprecating Charlie, to the poetic, formal Crispin with incredible ease.As the action moves location right at the beginning of A Blaze of Magic, to the supernatural town of Callamose, the sense that Charlie knows this place well even though she doesn’t remember ever being there is handled really well. Having been here before many times but had her memory wiped each time lets the reader know why she was so drawn to Jace when she first met him. They were great friends at Callamose, and Jace was in love with Charlie. Jace plays a much more prominent character in this novel and while I was possibly Team Tru in A Spark of Magic, I was definitely Team Jace by the end of A Blaze of Magic. We receive justifications for Jace’s often arrogant or unreasonable reactions in the first novel and honestly, I can’t imagine how Charlie and Tru’s relationship would work given the history that has been revealed at the end of the first novel and in A Blaze of Magic. Jace displays real, true love for Charlie and I’m not sure Tru will be able to compete with him, even though Charlie hasn’t really given up on her relationship with Tru by the end of this second novel.Crispin looms in the background throughout A Blaze of Magic and I still love this character. His end game is still a little unclear and it appears that he is very attracted to Charlie as he invades her dreams. We are given the idea that he intends to end Charlie and her friends in Callamose and that she is being set up to be his nemesis, yet he courts her like a potential lover and she is definitely attracted to him. I’d like to think that perhaps Charlie’s influence will imprint a little goodness in Crispin and they could become some superpower ridding the world of evil but perhaps that is just my imagination running away with me and I’m trying to find some justification for finding this totally evil character rather attractive! However, I get the impression that this is not the amazing Ms. Clayton’s intention and that Crispin is, and will always be, evil. I’d definitely like to see more of him in the next novel.Charlie is still battling with her feelings for the men in her life and the arrival of Asher adds to the mix of confusion for her. I love the way that our opinion of Asher is continually challenged throughout this book. Not as bad as Crispin, but definitely not as inherently good as Jace and Tru, he adds an extra layer of indecision for Charlie. I like Asher a lot. Charlie continues to mentally berate herself, not just about her attraction to Tru, Jace, Crispin and Asher but about her abilities as a supernatural. However, she shows great promise as the saviour of the supernaturals against Crispin and she rises up to the challenge somewhat in her actions throughout this book, albeit against a lesser power. As with the first novel, there are some issues with the proof-reading, but I implore anyone who would be put off from reading it because of this to get over it and appreciate this wonderful narrative for its substance because it is truly gripping and a wonderful reading experience. I do not usually like fantasy novels, but I’m becoming increasingly aware that I should not rule out any novel just because of the genre it fits into. My new-found liking for crime fiction, for example, should be testament to this. I cannot wait to read the next book in the Chosen Saga and I hope my new friend, Jennifer Lee Clayton, will be sure to give me the heads up on a release date so I can make sure I pre-order in good time! There are plenty of unanswered questions again at the end of A Blaze of Magic and again, one massive cliffhanger that promises a fantastic third book in this brilliant series. The action at the end of the novel occurs very quickly that you are left thinking “What just happened?” and initially, I wasn’t sure that this was a good thing, frustrated that I has been left wanting more but in reality this is a perfect ending. The reader is left reeling and desperate to know what happens next, sure to pick up the next book in the series, which is what, I would imagine, every author wishes for. Jennifer Lee Clayton’s Chosen Saga just keeps getting better and better and I can promise you this: once you have read the first book you will feel compelled to read the next one, and the next one, and the next one…

I have to say I loved this book even more than the first. This installment has tons of action and many many supernatural characters. Just what I love. This one is definitely more adult oriented. I didn't want it to end. I wanted to stay in Cosmos with the dragons & vampieres, but I think I was most surprised by what happens to Nikko. I hated that part for all of 5 minutes then I had to laugh. Love me some Nikko. I did find myself drooling over Asher. I know, I know I'm strange, but I love the bad boys. Especially when you can see their softer side through their badness. I can't wait to read the next book. I do hope J.L. gives some of these characters their own story. They are shouting at me to tell their tale. I'd love to know how they came to be. I promise this book is worth the read and will keep you turning the pages. It'll be hard to put it down.

I'l try not to give anything way but I get so excited talking about this book! The action and edge of your seat moments were from the beginning to the end. There's an exciting new world filled with supernatural beings. I immediately fell in love with the bad boy vampire and a certain dragon. The way she describes each new character made me feel like I was standing right there beside them. I got so involved I caught myself talking to the characters. And oh my the jaw dropping moments and secrets you will learn will have you in a range of emotions. I really loved this book and find myself sad that I have to wait to see what happens next. You will not want to put this book down for a sec! You will love it! What are you waiting for? Read it and I assure you that you will not be disappointed! Very good read - twice over!!!

I couldn't wait to start reading the second book. It takes the paranormal plot much further and many of the questions raised in Book 1 are answered, although tantalisingly there are also new ones now. I don't like to give too much about the plot away as I hate spoilers but the descriptions of Callamose were fantastic and I actually felt dizzy travelling the lei lines. OK Miss J L Clayton, just as I am torn between Jace and Tru you have to throw hot vampire Asher at me too? Now, how is Charlie ever going to make a decision!! Eagerly awaiting the next instalment.Well done and keep it coming.

A fast paced fairy tale. The first book in this series was a teaser and left me with a lot of questions. So, when I got my hands on A Blaze of Magic I read it in one day, even though the supernatural world is not usually my thing. I couldn’t believe I was reading about dragons, fairies, and ghosts and loving it. Charlie’s magical powers were amazing. Anything you could imagine, she had it all. The story was filled with action that kept me turning the pages, curious as to what would happen next. I can’t wait to find out what Crispin has planned for Charlie.

I recently finished A Blaze of Magic, while A Spark of Magic reeled me in, A Blaze of Magic completely captivated me. Its a thrilling, suspenseful, and will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through! It constantly had me second guessing myself about every prediction I'd made about the story. The Chosen Saga speaks to all genres and is a must! Whether you're an avid reader like myself, or completely hate to read, I highly recommend this book! Author J.L. Clayton has proven herself yet again with another masterpiece!!! I will be impatiently awaiting A Ghost of Magic!!!

OMG OMG OMG OMGI read the first book A Spark Of Magic, and I didnt think it could be topped. I stand corrected, J.L. Clayton surpassed the first book and then some. I cannot wait to read the next installment in the series, so much so, that I will have to go back and read the first two to stay fresh until the 3rd hits the press. If the 3rd book surpasses the 2nd, just like the 2nd did over A Spark Of Magic, all I have to say is move over Hollywood, I smell a movie deal in the works. Keep up the fantastical work J.L. Clayton, you are famous now!!!!!!!!!

I loved this book from beginning to end. I really wish that it hadn't ended. I found myself wanting to know more about all the new characters and really wish the story with Asher had continued because I felt like I didn't get closure with that situation. Maybe I will find out what happens in book 3. Jen you really are an amazing writer and I can't wait to read more of your books. Love you and I'm ready for book 3! :)

This series has been such a fun, entertaining and just interesting one. It just keeps getting better, it is a complex world with a lot of different paranormal characters Dragons, Fairy, Vampire.....and more :) I have been absolutely engrossed in this world. I can so see this as a movie.... it is that good. I hate I am about to start the last book well for now at least, maybe the author will give us more stories about some of the characters we meet in this awesome series. Highly recommend to anyone who just loves a good escape and a love of the paranormal world!!!!

Coming into this book immediately after I finished A Spark of Magic (book 1), I was very pleased with the way the author continued the story seamlessly. It is as though she wrote one long book and divided it in half to create books 1 and 2. Finishing the last chapter of book 1 and then opening book 2 and reading the first chapter.. it is as if chapter 1 in book 2 could have been a subsequent chapter at the end of book 1. Seamless!!I am in love with all of the characters. I find myself rooting for some while I discover I am scowling when one I don't care for is mentioned again. I find that is very good writing! To create and describe characters in such a way as to influence how a reader feels about said characters.. that, to me, is a sign of extremely talented writing. (Kind of like how movies are.. you know? When characters are introduced and you don't know what the whole story is or haven't been given the big picture yet and you are left to determine for yourself how each character fits into the plot? Yeah. Just like that!) For example, and this may be a spoiler.. so please read on with caution if you haven't read the book yourself yet... I had bad feelings about Kate ever since the last three chapters of book 1. Turns out that my feelings were correct. That is one way the author was able to introduce and create that character while giving me, the reader, just enough to not trust her, like her or down right not care much about her. Hence the reason I always made a face when it came time for her to make another appearance on the pages. Excellent writing!!Only reason for the one star reduction in my rating is that the grammatical and editorial errors I mentioned in my review for book 1 still exist and continue to nag at me here in book 2. I do not fault the author.. I fault the editor. After all, that *is* the main purpose of an editor! Now I am off to read the finale, book 3! I am still holding out that (spoiler again!) Charlie finally sees the light and ultimately chooses to be with Jace! Happy reading!!

This is the 2nd book in the Chosen Saga series. If like me you have read book 1, reading this will answer quite a few of your questions. The story concentrates on Charlie and her upcoming birthday. Charlie and Jace with their Guardians take a trip to Callamose, a magical place where as a small girl Charlie would go there with her parents. To get there they must travel via leylines, which can be hard to master. When she arrives she meets member of the council including Jace's real parents, a Dragon shape shifter called Zeb and their leader Eli. As her 16th birthday arrives Charlie gets given powers and finds out that she is the chosen one and has a much bigger task ahead. Along with her powers she also gets her memories of Callamose back, explaining why she has a close relationship with Jace.Unbeknownst to them someone is plotting against them and working very close with Crispin, who is still stalking Charlie in her dreams.Whilst kidnapped with other supernaturals, Charlie really needs to learn her powers quickly so she and the others can escape. To add to the confusion, she is introduced to a gorgeous vampire who has an attraction to her. This a fast past book and is supernatural overload. There are twists in this book which were not expected and you will have a tear in your eye when you are nearing the end of the book. What is a pleasant change is that unlike most books Charlie although gets her powers, hasn't a clue how to use them and there are some comical moments whilst she is learning, especially the amount of times she looses her clothes. If you were a Tru or Jace fan in book one,you may change your mind when you are introduced to the other guys. Now time to read book 3

I loved the first book in the series, but this one was even better. A lot of questions from the first book are answered and it moves at a rapid fire pace, which I loved! We get to see how Charlie's powers develop and the key factor - can she handle them? And how will she deal with the pressure? The author has this uncanny ability to get in her characters' heads and Charlie seemed so genuine, like a real teenager - despite all her awesome powers. My favorite power is how she can take other people's powers and use them as her own. So freaking awesome! Charlie is so powerful, but in other ways, so vulnerable too. I just love her character and can't get enough of her! There were also several new characters introduced, all likable and entertaining in their own way. So much action, so much supernatural in this book - I just couldn't get enough. I'm super happy to have book three waiting in the wings; I can't imagine having to wait long to see what happens next!JL's Clayton's writing is admirable, with crazy sick, detailed world building and well-rounded characters. This book jumps POV's and each character is like a different author writing it, which blew me away and made the story very believable despite its fantasy elements. A very unique style and an unforgettable storyline. This is a terrific series and I highly recommend it.

A Blaze of Magic is a fantasy tale, which follows on from A Spark of Magic. Now, fantasy isn’t ordinarily my thing, but these books may well change that. The story continues where it ended in the first book, and provides a handy recap. We are then taken on a journey into a place called Calamose, where a cornucopia of supernatural beings live.Charlie—a sixteen-year-old girl—who guides us brilliantly and tenaciously through the story with a mixture of attitude, confusion and fear, is bestowed with powers, which transpire to be more than the norm for the supernatural world, and it isn’t long before she’s in trouble from all angles. The story is packed with charm and never becomes boring in any way. It keeps the reader hooked with superb characterisation and vivid descriptions. Dragons, vampires, trolls and my favourites—pixies are but a few of the beings we encounter. The end is open for the third book in the series, which I shall definitely be reading. A barnstorming tale!

Charlie is back and she has learned a lot! The questions about her parents are answered as well as the questions about who and what she is.Thrust into a supernatural world torn between beauty and magic and wonder, there is also danger and not everyone is who they pretend to be. When she is taken prisoner by a lunatic, who is ready to hook her up to The Machine and steal her powers, Charlie is fighting back for herself and many others.Even with her powers, she is going to need some help. Trouble is she still doesn't know if she can trust this stranger from her dreams. Will he be her downfall or her savior? Will she survive? Will she get back to her family and our favorite hotties, Jace and Tru? You'll have to read it to find out!Ms. Clayton really hits her stride with the second book in her series. The second book is even better than the first. Next out is A Ghost of Magic and I expect it will be even more exciting!

You simply see letters that turn into words, but as soon as you read the first chapter, you are drawn into the adventure etched out in front of you. When you read the last page, you find yourself wishing, wanting, and desperate to be in JL's mind. Wishing for a peak, wanting more and desperately seeking how it plays out in her mind! After you read this book, press the follow button, allow her world to consume you, and eagerly wait for her to write more amazing books!

A Blaze of Magic picks up where A Spark of Magic ends with Charlie's "parents" explaining that she has magical powers, that they aren't her birth parents, and who and what her birth parents are. We also find out why they didn't want her around Tru, and little more about Jace and his family.Moving on I don't want to give to much away. Next we are transported to Calamoose a magical realm in order for Charlie to gain and learn to use her powers. Calamoose is a beautiful world containing many mystical beings. We also find out that there are traitors on both the good and bad side, and that Avani's story from the first book is true. This is an amazing story with a sad ending, but it is well worth the time to read it.

This is the second book of the series and I seriously LOVED it!!! I couldn't put it down!! I really feel Charlie's pain here... What man do I choose?!?! Jace, Asher and Nikko! (For the record I'm really not a lover of Tru!) This book is so detailed, I felt like I could really picture everything! I don't want to give too much away but why Nikko???? (insert crying face).Thank you for another amazing book!! I'll be starting book 3 right now!!! This is definitely my favourite series this year!

Okay, so I love book 2 A Blaze of Magic. What is it about this girl, Charlie, that every guy that meets her, wants to claim her!!? Don't get me wrong but she just got her magic, doesn't know how to use them yet, learns by accident and survives. Yeah, I'm jealous. She's awesome with the help a Vamp, Troll and a few others. Can't wait too start book 3 and see who she FINALLY chooses. Oh man, and that ending.....Happy but what the heck. Thank you J.L for an amazing series, so far ;)
