I have read and loved this whole series, but I really wanted this one to move along faster. For me, it was slower than usual and I became frustrated that Darien and Vicky were so blasé about his weakness and obvious ill health. It picks up after a few chapters though and we get introduced to yet more of Master Darien's supernatural colleagues with quirky backstories. Vicky really steps up and comes into her own in this installment, and we get to glimpse a powerful, darker side of Zak. The world-building in this series just keeps getting better and better. The riveting conclusion to this book sets up the next installment perfectly, and I cannot wait to read what Julie pens for us next. This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.Reviewed by Laurie-J

I beta read a copy from the author and received a copy of the finished book from the publisher for an honest review..When I beta read the copy from the author, I was loving it. She warned me that it wasn't perfect, but I didn't care because I wanted to know what was happening with Darien and Vicky. When I read the finished book, I was blown away.Darien knows his life as a vampire is not going to be easy, but when he brought Vicky into his life, things changed for them both.In Stolen Fire, someone is actively hunting Darien for his powers so that they can destroy him. He was able to do something so that Vicky absorbed most of them.Vicky and Darien are trying to settle everything down from Smoke Rising, but more is happening in Stolen Fire. This series has just been awesome from book 1. For a little while I was getting frustrated about vampire books, but when I started reading Kindling Flames I was not disappointed. I hope Julie Wetzel is working on book 5 because not only am I a huge fan of Vicky and Darien, I want to read more about Zak!!!

This is my favorite series. I have read all 4 books several times and cannot seem to get enough of it. It has funny moments as well as serious and I cannot wait until the next one comes out. I highly recommend this series to anyone that likes vampires, shifters without a lot of sex involved. I just finished reading this book 4 and will most likely be reading all 4 books within the next few weeks again. This series is worth every penny.

I recommend this story to all! Darien and Victoria are back and the strangeness just got stranger. Darien is getting weaker and Victoria is changing. Drama from the Wolves and a deeply disturbed vampire.I gotta say that the Fay Queen is working my nerve. There are other threats still looming. I look forward to more! 5 stars indeed.Another Great Story From Julie!

Well I must give it to Julie Wetzel for not using the obvious culprit. I swore I had the rogue figured out from the preface but I was wrong and isn't that great when an author can prove you wrong? Even if the selected wasn't the most interesting or original.I must admit however, that it is the first time the author has left us, in this series, with an actual cliffhanger. All the magical beings are starting to make my head spin. Who are the Charmed-like creatures in the epilogue and chicken bones for charms? I don't know how she keeps up with all the magic that is wielded in this series. You can always count on an epic final battle and this one was no different but felt a little too safe and cliche. Even if someone died. I wanted more, something as enchanting as what got them in this mess in the first place. After all, why spend time slowly building this story line only to burn out in a light flicker as oppose to a flame? That aside, the idea that a vampire can return to human form, magic or not, was just too much for me. You're crossing over into 'Sparkling Vampire' territory.Thankfully, the mundane day to day and work scenes were few and far between. I figure too much was going on for us to focus on that and I love that we got a Grand Council POV. It's always fun diving into ancient culture and traditions, make believe or not.I appreciate the emphasis and explanation placed on marks & the menagerie. Before this, I didn't really understand what they meant. I literally got annoyed every time someone moved in with them, so my imagination got crazy with all the potential vamps under one roof. Like can't they just cozy up alone with a glass of wine and blood once in a while?Vicky was back to annoying me until home girl started fighting like the vamps. Who knew she had it in her? I'd still love to get a full on sex scene from these two, because Darien sounds like he'd be hot as hell in bed! Is there the possibility of a Vanessa and Elliot? If so, I am all for it! And what about the twins? ... Safe to say I am getting more and more interested in the characters and the series. I feel the magical world Julie weaves and I like it!

I have to comment real quick about a review I had read before purchasing this series . The reviewer commented on how she was not happy with Darien weakness - I wish she had read the whole series . I knew something was wrong , I had a hunch, I was right but there was so much more to it. Again kudos to the author for another excellent journey into Darien and Vicky s world . I am moving on to book 5 today . Though there are still a couple grammatical errors they are minimal . The twists and turns and omg are still strong and the story is so much fun. On to book 5 I go.... hope you join me on my journey

This is the fourth installment of the series, and there is a lot more happening now. Darien is being pulled in all directions and it is staring to wear on him. His romance with Vicky is solid now, but now he has more vampires under his care in his kiss. Sue is now in trouble, and someone or thing has targeted Darien and Vicky again. Meanwhile, he is started to get forgetful, sometimes loosing control and having cravings for human food. As the series has progressed, the writing and the story have improved. While this is targeted as a clean read for teens, it is an enjoyable read for anyone who likes the supernatural genre.

Full review and more available at: http://oneguysguidetogoodreads.blogsp...*****My Thoughts:I've said this phrase so many times tonight that it has probably lost all meaning, but WOAH. This series guys. Holy smokes. I don't know that I've ever experienced an author whose series gets better with each passing installment like this one, readers! I've talked about Julie Wetzel and her incredible talent quite a bit when writing these reviews and honestly, ever bit of it was well deserved and then some. It's supposed to be that with each passing publication, an author gets better and better, but seldom do you see that reflected in the quality of their series. This one is special folks. Real special!Like its' previous three installments, Stolen Fire takes us back into the realm of paranormal awesome when we join back up with Master Vampire Darien Ritter and his, now fiance, the somewhat mortal Victoria Westernly. Vicky has been an honorary member of the supernatural community for quite some time now, drawing the attention of vamps, wolves, and even the fae, things for Vicky are starting to change, can she stay mortal forever? Already under the protection of a fae hellhound and a Master vampire, Vicky has nothing to fear, right?Darien Ritter is even more human than before. His deep sleep cycle is out of whack, his aversion to natural lighting and holy relics is beginning to fade, and his powers are waning. With a new menagerie of vamps in his care, it's vital that Darien gain control of his body and keep his position to keep the natural order of the paranormal world stable. With no answers from vamps, wolves, or the fae, Darien must turn to one of the oldest and most controversial forms of magic for answers: voodoo. Stolen Fire sends Vicky, Darien, and Zak on a bayou-bound adventure to New Orleans in search of a powerful voodoo priestess who can answer Darien's questions. But is he ready for the answers he may receive? Is his impending mortality a true end to his vampirism? What of Vicky's strange new feelings? Only with the help of friends and former foes can the gang work together to heal Darien before a new evil can take over the city.Crazy story, right? You've got to catch up people. This series is too awesome to miss!In true Wetzel fashion, this novel doesn't stop for a second. From page one to the final chapter, our characters are on the go. Where book three may have taken a more human turn, Stolen Fire dives right back in with the paranormal goodness. It's an action packed adventure full of emotional twists, a gripping plot, and even more character development than we've ever seen before. On top of everything else going on in their lives, Darien and Vicky now have a wolf problem on their hand. When their friend Sue shows up wounded and afraid, it's up to Darien, Vicky, and Zak to keep to wolf calm and safe. The story that unfolds is beyond awesome!I've said this in all three reviews now, but Wetzel's writing talent is a treasure among the paranormal literary world. The paranormal genre is huge and so many authors fall into the void and are never heard form again. Not Wetzel. With each passing novel she stakes her claim on the mountain of paranormal success. Climbing her way to the top of awesome! You won't find many authors with the passion and love that Wetzels puts into each and every chapter. Her fire is evident in every word she writes.Darien and Vicky's relationship is really explored and tested in this fourth installment of the series. With their impending nuptials on the horizon, Vicky must come to terms with some harsh truths if she is really prepared to marry a Master Vampire. Can they pull it together before the big day?The extremely climactic ending to Stolen Fire was probably one of the greatest action scenes in this series. This novel introduces us to a whole new host of characters that will quickly pull at your heartstrings. Get ready for even more amazingness form the mind of Julie Wetzel, Stolen Fire is paranormal masterpiece for the ages!I cannot say enough that I am begging for the next book in this series. While novel five does not have a definite release date, Wetzel will soon be releasing a collection of short stories set in this universe entitled Granting Wishes, this summer we'll be seeing a whole new side to Wetzel and this universe! I am so excited to grant Stolen Fire by Julie Wetzel another incredible 5-star review. You guys will not be disappointed by picking up this incredible series. Four amazing novels that are sure to leave any paranormal fan begging for more. Get to one-clicking people, Kindling Flames is ready for the reading! *****

In this installment, we follow Vicky and Darien as they race to save his immortality. Vicky steps up and proves that she can handle being a vampire bride. Normally we see her as the assistant or just Darien's human girlfriend. This time around she shows that she can hold her on in a crisis. One of the things I love about this series is that Vicky is a strong female lead. Normally you would get a weak damsel in distress or a male hating female. Vicky is neither. She shows time and time again that she can stand toe to toe with Darien's enemies and hold her own. In this book she does have to make decisions that she normally would not. Thanks to fantastic writing, you can see her emotions pop off the page as well as her hesitancy to go through with her decisions. Darien shows a different side of himself in this book. He is more laid back, more inviting in this book. I think almost being human again works well for him. He seemed to let go of some of the emotional walls that he had built up. no matter what though, Darien is my favorite vampire. We see more of Elliot and Vanessa in this book. I hope that we get more of them. I think that they would make a great couple too. Wetzel, again has written another great book. I love that she never lets you guess who the villain is in the book. You don't really figure it out till close to the end. Her writing keeps the reader entertained from beginning to end. Counting each book with the same lead characters, she is still able to create a unique and intriguing storyline. Overall, I loved this book and it is a great addition to this series. I look forward to reading more books from this author in the future. **I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

I'm getting a little tired of reading about people trying to kill Vicky and Darien all the damn time. Is it really necessary for the story to go forward? 'Cause I like them both and the attempts to kill them are getting quite peculiar and annoying. Also, considering how fast I realized something was wrong with Darien, I find it rather convenient that Darien didn't notice something before it was almost too late. A 900-year-old vampire not noticing his sudden lack of strength? His wish for food? His trouble accessing his power? REALLY? And Vicky spent all her time with him and didn't realize he was acting out of character?? Anyway...everything ended up more or less okay. I do like this story a lot despite its inconsistencies and look forward to reading the next book. I hope it comes out soon.**Half a star taken for the weird battle scene and Vicky's vampire teeth.

Another chapter in the lives of Vicky & Darien. I was glad to actually get an explanation for why Darien was acting so human in the last book (prior to the soul exchange with Vicky). This one was also a lot better than the previous book in terms of having an actual plot (with a mystery to solve and a villain to defeat) that was followed consistently throughout. I don't love them but they are a quick easy read that I enjoy them enough to keep reading on. I am curious to find out the story behind Sue's attack on the other wolf.

Wow what a ride,This story just keeps getting better and better! The characters are great and the story line was really good. Power is something that will drive people to do awful things for. And hate could drive a person crazy. Mix them together and you have a big mess! I just want to know where I can get a Zak from! With love and support you can do almost anything. Definitely recommend this series...BUT please read them in order so you can get the most out of them. Vampires can be good!

Another Entertaining Read In This Series!Going into this book series, I have developed such a connection with the characters. The character development continues to take the reader deeper and deeper into this tightly woven world and as they go through their ups and downs, the reader can't help but go along for the ride. This book was very entertaining and I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series!

I woke up on accident at six thirty, on a Saturday morning, and I was not as unhappy about that as I should have been because I had this series of books to get back to. Where am I going to get my Darien, Vicky, and Zak fix now between the ending of this book and the beginning of the next one? I feel rather bereft. On the other hand, the ending of this books leaves me pretty certain that there will be a book five, which has me as happy as an eleven year old at a One Direction concert.

Not Bad #4The criticisms I have about this book is that the author didn't write about the wedding and telling her friends about vampires. If she included them, the book would have been SIX STARS.
