Warm, sweet and funny. Laura Drewry writes the kind of books to snuggle up with on a lazy afternoon.Brett Hale’s past has shaped him into a serious, precise, safety first, good officer of the law. And even though he seldom smiles or jokes and generally presents an ice-cold façade, that doesn’t mean he can’t be a smart-aleck, crack a joke or has cute and sexy charms. It’s just that no one has ever brought it out.Ellie Palmer thought she had left her past behind along with her very bad impression of cops and any interaction with them. But her lippy personality and heavy foot on the pedal makes Officer Brett pull her over frequently showing her his by-the-book attitude which irritates Ellie to no end.Forced into contact by their mutual friends, made to see each other because of Ellie’s somewhat reckless driving and imposed to spend more time together faking a personal relationship by the appearance of a threat from her past. What did they think would happen?“This thing between you and me wasn’t ever really supposed to happen. It was, like, a happy little accident.”I really enjoyed both Ellie and Brett’s characters. Ellie’s sass, determination and strength and Brett’s alpha protectiveness and good guy demeanor under the cop guise. Laura Drewry writes endearing characters that feel very real. Their banter was so fun and engaging. “I thought to myself, Self, should the dipwad be alone tonight or should his super-awesome fake girlfriend share her knowledge of how to get through tough times? So here I am, sharing my knowledge.” I loved how the mandatory time together let them to get to know one another, see beyond the surface and chip away the walls they had erected. The slow process from animosity to friendship and the slow build to more was an enjoyable sweet torture. “‘Safe’ is when she knows you’re there for her, not necessarily physically there but ‘there,’ you know? …It’s when you make her laugh at thing that shouldn’t be funny and when you smile at her with that little something you only ever show her.”As with all of the previous books in this series, Laura also links her pop culture knowledge and to her stories by providing, in this case, great cop show/movie quotes at the beginning of each chapter. And since I’ve read the previous books I it was also great having the gang from those books back and lending their help and support and making the story richer.Book facts: Accidentally in Love is book 3 in the Friends First series with interconnecting characters but can be read as a standalone. It’s written from both points of view. No cheating. Happy ending. 4 Dudley Do Right stars Amazon US pre-Order ->* I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via NetGalley. (An arc was generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.)Publication date: June 16, 20155 Wonderfully written stars!WOW! I love this author's story-telling and voice! Her characters are great and her writing is wonderful. This is the third book I've read by this author (also the third book in this series), and each one of her stories gets better and better! In this series the main characters start out as friends and to their utter amazement their soul-mates have been sitting right in front of them all this time... they just had to figure it out for themselves. How they finally come to this conclusion is what makes these books fun and wonderful to read. Full review will be posted closer to publication date.

4.25 starsEllie has had a really bad experience with the cops so she holds a grudge against all police officers. It doesn't help that she is constantly getting pulled over by Officer Brett Hale. Brett is a follow the rules type of guy. Ellie gives him a hard time but when she is in a situation where she needs his help, she finally gets to see there's a lot more to him than just looking good in a police uniform. I really enjoyed several things about this story. Ellie and Brett really don't like each other at the beginning of this story but I really like how their friendship develops. I like the banter between Ellie and Brett and also Ellie and her friends. I liked the storyline - Brett protecting Ellie from her ex. Also, there was a lot of sexual tension. My only complaint about this book is that there might of been a little too much build-up and not enough action as far as the romance aspect goes. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for Maya's story next!**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**

An easy read that allows the reader to like both Ellie and Brett. Ellie can't stand Brett but only because of his profession. Brett doesn't like how Ellie doesn't like him. The two end up as unlikely allies when a problem from Ellie's past comes knocking at her door. There's a sassy heroine, a duty driven and tender hearted hero, and a happy ending. There isn't much to dislike about this story so it receives a solid 4 star rating from me. It didn't blow me away or make me have screaming fits, but I did enjoy it with zero struggle to finish. Ellie has a sassy mouth, is fluent in sarcasm, and knows what she's about. Honestly, I liked her because she's quite modern with a few very classic values. Brett is the all American kind of guy who wants to do good. He doesn't abuse his position as a cop but also still strongly believes in the system. When he and Ellie finally collide romantically, it's quite beautiful to watch unfold.

In Spanish there is a quote that says something along the lines of whatever you don’t like you end up having in your household. For instance, my grandma hates tattoos but my brother and I have them. Accidentally in love definitely reminded me of that quote for the simple fact that Elle hated cops because when she needed them the most there was nothing they could do for her. She couldn’t trust them, she would rather deal with things by herself then to call cops and never in her wildest dreams did she expect she’d have to rely on Brett the one who ALWAYS stops her and even evoked her license. Never did she expect to actually like Brett despite the fact that he is a cop. It’s crazy how love works. Sometimes you fall in simple by accident. Our StoryAccidentally in love is told in third person point of view with snippets of what each of the main characters is thinking. Accidentally in love takes place in Canada which I found to be so cool, I hardly ever read books that take place outside of the U.S. so this was definitely interesting. The story is about Elle who has a problem with speeding and is constantly being pulled over by Brett. She has no problem telling him where he can shove his badge up, nor does she have any problem voicing her opinion about how much she hates cops. The story gives a brief history about why she doesn’t trust cops and she is totally justified but Brett isn’t like any other cops. He does take his job seriously, he always puts safety first and is the only one who truly help Elle get rid of that ex who just doesn’t understand “we are never ever getting back together”. What I loved most about this story wasn’t just the romance it was the fact that Brett tried so hard not to cross the line between professional and unprofessional. He truly had Elle’s interest at heart and knew if they did cross that line his mind would be clouded and he wouldn’t be able to perform his job. Granted, my mind was frustrated because c’mon kiss her already, but I really did enjoy this story. It was really light and easy read, I definitely would have liked more suspense but overall I really enjoyed it. Our CharactersElle is a stubborn, independent, speed devil woman. She doesn’t like cops because of things of her past. She speaks nothing but the truth even if that means your feelings will be hurt. She’s extremely competitive and someone I could easily see myself getting along with. I loved how in the beginning of the book she was hard to read but towards the end of the book she was really sweet. Brett is Mr. Safety first, which Elle always makes fun but it is part of his charm. I loved how he wasn’t an over the top caveman he was a perfect gentlemen he was also very professional and didn’t cross the line even when his heart told him to. He was a very respectable man. I especially loved how he wasn’t impulsive like seriously that is so hard to find now at days but Brett is our exception. He was able to stand out and be a real sweet caring professional non-caveman. It was hard not to love him even when he was trying to keep to himself you ended up loving him. OverallThis is a quick and light read with a little bit of suspense thrown in. I loved the family unit of friends presented in the book and I loved the relationship that Elle and Brett had, their banter, the way they were with each other. I really just enjoyed the entire story. I received a copy in exchange for an honest opinion this does not influence my review in any shape or form.

4.5 Dudley Do Right StarsA great enemies-to-lovers story, with some of the best dialogue I've read in a long while. Laura Drewry sets up the scene brilliantly and lets the dialogue just roll of the character's tongues. It is witty, layered and funny and the chemistry practically oozes off the page.A fun, semi-thrilling romance about a girl who absolutely HATES cops, falling "accidentally in love" with one of them.4.5 A great, easy, fun read. Just what I wanted after a few too many angsty tales.

4.5 Stars Accidentally in Love is the book I’ve needed for a while now. There was none of that instant attraction where most of the story centers around the main couple just having sex and not much time actually getting to know each other, which seem to me the theme lately in a lot of the books I’ve been picking up. So it was a nice change to read something different for me, where the characters spend actual time together and don’t just hop into bed together right away. So this was the perfect book for me right now.Accidentally in Love is book three in the Friends First series by Laura Drewry. I really enjoyed this book and the previous ones, the series keeps getting better! Accidentally in Love is the story of Ella Palmer and Brett Hale, for those who have read the other books both characters have been in the previous stories. Ella doesn’t trust cops and no one could blame her with the bad experience she had in the past. Brett is a cop and has been lucky enough to pull Ella over many times for speeding, but this time he has to revoke her license. Brett and Ella haven’t really spent much time together, but now they have to since Ella has to go to a driver safety class and Brett is the teacher, but this isn’t the other thing that will bring these two together. Ella past is back in the form of her ex-boyfriend and he is stirring up trouble. To stay safe Ella has to put her trust into the police and Brett. The more time Brett and Ella spending together the more they start to fall for each other with which is a conflict of interest since Ella is a case Brett is working.Ella is a smart ass, her quick wit and nervous rambling kept me laughing, she is definitely a likeable character. I’ve always liked Brett from the previous books, but I loved him in this one. He was such a gentleman and all around good guy or as Ella liked to call him Dudley Do-Right. Like the other books each chapter started with a quote from a police movie or show. I love how Laura adds those little touches to each other her books, it’s like a nice surprise at the beginning of every chapter. Accidentally in Love had everything I wanted in a book, humor, mystery and romance. It left me wanting more, so I’m really looking forward to Maya’s book.An ARC was kindly provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I just couldn't put this book down. While Accidentally in Love can be read as a standalone I highly recommend you read the previous books because like me you'll enjoy the friendships and banter so much more =)I seriously cannot wait for Maya's book How Forever Feels love that girl! Any time I see a book or author being compared to Jill Shalvis I'm intrigued. So far, there haven't been any that really come close. Until now.Love love love Ellie and Brett. They're so different in so many ways and it's delightful seeing them struggle with their feelings. She outspoken and snarky and he's straight laced and quiet. They bring out something in each other and I loved the chemistry and UST.I'll admit that the stalker premise is a little played out, but I thought it was done well. I was good and creeped out by what was happening. There are some good secondary characters as well.Overall, it was a cute and fun read. I'll definitely be looking at the other books in the series.**Huge thanks to Loveswept and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**

My thoughts/feelings while reading - lots of quotes included (May have spoilers) :) - 0% Hoping to start this book tomorrow morning on the way to work :) Looking forward to seeing Ellie getting her HEA :D3% “What happened to you in Toronto was bizarre, but you can’t keep comparing him to those other cops.??? I'm so curious!?5% The whole thing seemed a little sketchy to BrettMe too :/ I kinda get why Ellie doesn't like cops! Especially if there's more to it n they didn't do anything!6% Sarcasm and honesty weren’t for everyone, though, and maybe that was why she didn’t date much; maybe the guys she met didn’t like the way she just laid everything out there. But still, a good-looking woman like that who was smart and funny…didn’t seem right that she didn’t go out more.Okay I love that Brett thinks that! I think I'm gonna love this one - I've already highlighted 3 times n it's only 6% (definitely gonna have to cut these down :( )9% Oddly enough, Gail was right. ? I wonder if there's more to this? Also poor Ellie! :( she really did have it tough - I hate her ex! -_-10% “Red just can’t seem to keep her hands off me.” Pulling Regan in closer, Carter kissed the side of her head and laughed. “Not that I’m complaining.Awwwww I totally love Regan n carter!! <3 <311% “Whoa,” she mocked, her left eyebrow lifted in surprise. “I’d heard rumors that the cop had a sense of humor, but who knew it was true?Haha I think I'm really gonna love seeing Ellie n Brett together! Hoping to get some reading time tonight - ended up falling asleep last night instead :'(12% ever since she’d left, it was like he’d been walking around on automatic pilot. Until today. Until that exact moment when Ellie looked back and smiled at him.Aww Brett! <3 I love that Ellie smiling made you feel like that! Though i wanna know what happened between you and Kerri! :D17% she sucked her lips behind her teeth and forced herself to nod ever so slightly. So he’d picked milk—big deal. It wasn’t that cute. Okay, it might have been a little bit cute. Whatever.Haha I agree Ellie - it's very cute! Haha <318% Not read much this week - been really busy with work and sleep haha and when I have had time Ive been watching tv or rereading my favourite scenes from other books as Ive only had a few minutes :( I have a really busy weekend as well but have a 2 hour train journey tomorrow evening so will hopefully get a lot read then :) I am enjoying these two and cant wait to be able to sit down properly and enjoy this book :)20% She didn’t smile at cops, she didn’t make nice with them, and she sure as hell didn’t care if they left town or not. What she did care about was getting inside the house right that very secondAww! I'm really loving this - I just wish I had more time to read! :( hoping to get to read on my two hour train journey tonight :) when I have had the time his week I'm too tired to read so end up watching tv :(22% He should have listened, he should have known that the hero shine would wear off soon enough, leaving nothing but plain old Brett Hale, and there was no way a free spirit like Kerri would have been satisfied with that for long. He liked having roots; she needed to keep moving.Oh poor Brett! Looks like Kerri really did a number on him :( I hope he doesn't move though! Him n Ellie are perfect together!!23% Jayne’s friends were her family, and she made it her mission to do what she could to make her family happy.Aww Jayne!! <3 <3 I hope we find out more about Rosie!26% I mean, come on, we’re talking about Griffin freaking Carr here—they don’t come any hotter than him!” “I disagree.” Regan’s grin made them all laugh. “I’ve got the hottest guy in the world sitting at home in his Death Star boxers right now, and no amount of money, travel, or fancy Oscar statues could possibly be better than that.Aww Regan!! <3 <328% Not a local, at least not one Brett had ever seen, but there was something oddly familiar about him.I'm getting a bad feeling :( I hate foreshadowing! :(31% as far as the court was concerned, there was no proof Kurt had actually done anything to physically harm her.??? I don't like the wording of that sentence! I so hope I'm reading more into then there is!33% Next thing she knew, Kurt stood up, gave her a slow salute, with a not-so-amused smile, and walked off. Nick and Carter stayed where they were for a minute, coming inside only after her customer left.Oh Nick and Carter!! <3 <3 I SOOO wanna know what they said!! <3 <336% So it didn’t make a spit of sense to Ellie that the one person who had every reason to blow her off was the one sitting at her kitchen table making her feel safer than she’d felt since before the Toronto cops had pushed through her door waving their search warrant.Awww! It's coz Brett's different! Not only is he a good cop, he's your 'friend' (which will hopefully change doom coz they're meant to be together!) <3 :D37% He still hadn’t figured out what it was about Kurt that looked familiar, but he would.??? I'm so curious! I wonder if it's something to do with Rosie!?? that's a total shot in the dark n is probably so far off base its unreal haha38% “You’re a good cop, Hale. You’re sharp, and I’ve never had cause to doubt your judgment, so for the love of God, don’t go and do something stupid.” “Like what?” Sergeant Schilling’s jaw twitched. “Like getting too close to her, if you catch my drift.Oh sarge! I love you so much for suggesting this though I have to say I think you're out if luck with the 'getting too close' part! Haha :D <339% “Now go get your stupid coffee—maybe get two if you need the caffeine that bad—and calm the hell down!” He should be the one snapping at her about the way she took that corner. It wasn’t funny, so why was he laughing? And why was she looking at him like that, like she wasn’t even sure what she was looking at. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you laugh before,” she said.I totally love seeing these two together! I seriously hate having no time to read! It fucking sucks -_-41% After a good solid minute of him drinking the worst cup of coffee ever brewed, and her big brown eyes staring at him like that, so intent, so focused, he finally gave in. Not because he felt pressured, and not because he couldn’t handle an interrogation, but because there was something in her eyes, something that made him think she wasn’t just being nosy and she wasn’t making idle conversation. She honestly wanted to know.Aww I love that ellie can get him to talk! I'm so curious about him n his past!42% just that when Rosie died, you lost your sister and your parents.” He cleared his throat, then did it again, harder, when she looked at him like that, her eyes full of compassion instead of the mocking he was so used to. “Yeah,” he finally muttered. “Okay, so how ’bout them Yankees?” “Fine, change the subject,” she said, smiling slowly.Aww Brett! :'( I'm loving seeing these two get closer n learning more about each other :) <345% “You okay?” “Course.” As soon as the word left her lips, she stopped, set the milk down, and shook her head. She didn’t lie; that wasn’t who she was. And even though she was going to have to do a lot of lying in the next little while, she’d only do it when she absolutely had to, and now wasn’t one of those times. Sure, it was going to mean eating a little crow for breakfast, but that seemed to be on her menu a lot lately.Oh I love that!! I love Ellie so much! No matter how hard it is she won't lie unless necessary! <3 <351% “He put in for that transfer before any of this happened, and there’s no reason to expect his plans will change just because of me.” And that, right there, was the absolute terrible truth.:'( but they will! They have to right? I hope I'm right - I have to be!53% He shouldn’t have done that, but it sure made it a hell of a lot easier to act his way through the next few minutesI love how what was meant to be a short quick kiss for show turns into a lot more for these two! :D <3 55% He couldn’t believe that not only was he telling her all this, but they were both laughing about it.Haha aww I love Ellie can make him laugh! Especially about this! These two are perfect - I hate having no reading time., -_- I don't wanna put this down :'(59% Gripping her phone so tight she thought her knuckles might crackOh my god! :'(60% Ellie tried to pull back, but Brett kept one arm around her shoulders, and she’d never been more thankful for anything.Aww! I'm so glad Brett came, I knew he'd be there when she needed him! <362% “When the call came in tonight, and I heard your address…” He looked down at the floor, his jaw twisted a little to the side, before he finally blinked back up at her. “Scared the shit out of me, too.Oh Brett!! I can't wait to these two finally realise n stop pretending! :D <3 <363% “I meant, it’s Tuesday the twenty-first.” His hand froze for about half a second before he reached in and dragged a piece onto his plate. “And I just thought it might be nice to have a friendly face around tonight.Awww ellie! I love that she's done this especially as it's girls night n she never misses girl night! <3 <3 <364% It’s when she knows that even though you might be super pissed at each other, you’re still going to rip the head off the first person who calls her a bitch. It’s when you make her laugh at things that shouldn’t be funny and when you smile at her with that little something you only ever show her.” She should have left it there, but the words just kept spilling out: “It’s when you bring her bike back all covered in reflective strips. Awwwww! I can't wait to see these guys finally give in! :D <366% “Brett?” She’d barely whispered his name, but it pulled a long, low growl out of him. “Do you want to stay?” As he lowered her to the floor, Ellie thought he was going to let her go, but he didn’t. Instead, he slid his hands up her spine until he had her head cradled in the warmth of his palms. “Yeah.” He exhaled slowly, his voice strained and pinched. “I want to stay.” Her eyes fluttered closed for a second and her breath hitched slightly. “But you’re not going to, are you?”These two are so perfect! So glad I decided to make time tonight to finally be able to sink into their world! <368% “Ell.” “Please don’t call me that. Call me Ellie, Elleanor if you must, or Miss Palmer like Tory does, but not Ell.” “Seriously?” “Damn right.” Ell was way too personal. No one else had ever called her that, only him.Oh ellie! :( I love that you spoke to him you never hid! But listen to him let him explain - he's not staying away because of what you think! Also love that Brett's the only one who's ever called her ell! <3 <3 <369% Her mom’s iPad crashed to the floor as Gail made a frantic grab for her discarded bathrobe while Buck’s startled shouts kept coming from the speaker on the now upside-down tablet. “Gail, honey, what happened? Are you okay? Should I call 911? Oh Jesus, where are my pants?” “Oh my God!” Ellie cried. “Shut it off! Hang up! Do something!” “I’m trying,” Gail yelled back. “If you’d stop screaming and let me think for two seconds.” “Gail?” Buck’s voice grew louder when Gail finally managed to retrieve him from the floor. “What the hell was that? Why are you dressed?” “Ellie’s here, Buck. I have to go.” “What? Hang on, I need to find my hearing aid.” “I swear to God, Mom, make him stop!Hahaha this is hilarious!! Poor Ellie hahaha <3 <370% “I am.” She didn’t even have to say it; it was in the way her eyes danced, the way she couldn’t stop smiling, and the way her skin seemed to glow with new life, new energy.Awww yay! I'm happy for Gail n Buck! <3 <372% Brett ended the call, dropped the phone to the table, then slammed his forehead down beside it. Fuck-shit-bugger-shit-fuck.Oh no Brett! :( fix it! Don't do it! :'( :'(74% “We just want you to be safe, Ellie, and from the way Hale was barking there a second ago, I’m guessing that goes double for him.” It took everything she had not to snort. Brett might be worried, but only because it was his job to be. He was getting paid to worry about her.Oh Ellie! You have to know that's not true! He's told you so much about himself that no one else knows, he laughs around you - that's not pretending! I can't wait to see these two finally realise that what's between them is no longer pretense! That it never really was! <3 <377% This would be so much easier if she weren’t standing there in her pajamas. You’d think having a picture of Daryl and his crossbow on her shirt would help her feel strong, but it didn’t. Not even close, especially when Brett kept looking at her like that, like he knew she was struggling but there was nothing he could do because he was struggling, too.:'( when are these two just gonna give in n realise they don't have to keep fighting this!! :'(79.0% “It’s okay,” she said, dashing the back of her hand across her cheek and forcing the worst smile he’d ever seen. “Really, it is.” “The fuck it is,” he growled. “None of this is okay.” “But somehow it has to be. I mean, let’s face it, Ponch: this thing between you and me wasn’t ever really supposed to happen. It was, like, a happy little accident.”Oh these two! :( they're breaking my heart right now :'(80% “Yeah, this isn’t going to work. You need to go into that bedroom and lock the door. Now.” “But—” He stepped away as he spoke, bumping into the corner of the telephone table and the edge of the chair. “I’m not even doing anything!” Ellie laughed. “You don’t have to,” he said over a grin. “That’s the problem.” “Seriously?” “Yuh.” He couldn’t seem to decide what to do with himself; he went from stuffing his hands in his pockets to crossing his arms over his chest to lacing his fingers behind his neck, and then plunging them back into his pockets again. “It was bad enough out there, but in here…alone…God, Ell, you’re killin’ me.” “I’m killing you?” she cried. “It ain’t exactly a cakewalk from where I’m standing either, you know.Aww these two!! I can't wait to see them finally give in!! <3 <381% Half-laughing, half-groaning, he set his hands against the wall on either side of her and lowered his head to her shoulder. “You’re not making this easy, you know.” “And you’re surprised by that?” She slid her fingers over his head, knowing he’d lean into her touch the way she loved so much. “Have I ever made anything easy for you?” No.” He lifted his face to hers, his eyes as soft as she’d ever seen them. “You never have.<3 that was one hot fucking kiss! <3 <382% “Does it matter?” She tipped her head a little and shrugged. “In case I didn’t make it clear last night, Ponch, I’m up for pretty much anything when it comes to youAwwww I love how open honest Ellie is! These two need to be together! Don't go Brett! Please - Ellie's your reason you know it! <384% “Focus! I’m serious—you either get it together or I’ll throw your ass in a cell and keep you there till this is over. Got it?I love how cool cop Brett hale is so affected by this case! He can't keep his cool if Ellie's involved! <3 <3 86% “You good?” “No,” Ellie hollered. “I think he might need a doctor.” Hudak got about halfway up the stairs, took one look at Brett sprawled against the wall and Ellie dripping all over the floor, and snorted. “He’s fine,” she laughed, heading back down the stairs. “But we’re going to need you down at the detachment, Miss Palmer, so you might want to get dressed.Hahahhahahah poor Brett!! He was so worried hahaha <3 <3 <3 <388% Tory didn’t say anything for a long time; she just sat there ripping apart a tissue, and handing Ellie a new one every once in a while.Oh poor Ellie! :( though I love the conversation between her and Tory! <3 I so can't wait to see what happens now but I hope Brett stays - he and Ellie are meant for each other!! <3 <3 <389% He could do a lot of things, but he couldn’t face her again until he could find a way to get himself back under control. And God only knew how long that would take, because in that moment, at the top of her stairs with her standing there in that towel, completely fine, not the least bit hurt, damaged, or bruised, he finally understood that he had to walk away. He was holding on too tight.Oh Brett no! :(90% At least give her the option of saying no.” “Okay.” Nick nodded. “That I agree with. You have to at least call her back.Listen to them Brett! Call her! <391% “I’ve got no explanation for why I didn’t call you back, other than I was feeling really useless and stupid and I still don’t know what I’m doing. I’m an asshole, and I’m sorry.” Oh no, she wouldn’t smile. She wouldn’t. It would hurt too much. Damn it. I couldn't help it either Ellie! Others definitely something about a man who can apologise! <3 <392% “Please don’t make me finish this here in Jayne’s hallway.” Now was not the time to be giggling, but she couldn’t help it; it just kept bubbling out of her. “Not funny, Ell,” he muttered, though even as he said it she could feel his lips curling against her neck. “I don’t even think I’m going to make it out to the truck.<3 <3 these two are perfect!93% “We’ve got one night, Brett—less than one night now—and then you’re gone. I don’t know about you, but to me, what we’ve had these last few weeks and what we have tonight feels like a hell of a lot more than most people ever get. So let’s not question it—let’s just take it and hold on to it as long as we can.” When he pressed his lips against her head, she sighed against his chest. “And someday when you’re old and gray, sitting around with the other old dudes in the Old Cops Nursing Home, you can tell them all about that girl you accidentally fell in love with, and how even though you might have only ever had one night together, it was so much more than that. Gads, that sounds like something right out of a Nicholas Sparks novel.” “It is more than that, Ell.” “I know.Oh my God! :'( these two are breaking my heart! They are so fucking perfect! They need more than 1 night! They need the rest of their lives! they deserve it! <3 <394% it seemed awfully coincidental that in the last couple of months, ever since Kurt had shown up again, the pastor’s main scripture quote was always the one about the devil prowling around.I knew Brett would get to the bottom of it! :)97% “Jayne?” Understanding all but clubbed her over the head.Awwwwww yay I knew it!! I'm so happy right now!! Yayayayayayayayay! <3 <3 <3 <398% “That wasn’t going to happen. Lightning doesn’t strike twice, Ponch, and you were my lightning.” His brow furrowed. “I have no idea what that means, but the more I thought about you with anyone else…Jeezus…All I wanted to do was crawl through the phone line and strangle Jayne for even suggesting it.” “Yeah, I’m starting to think our little plain Jayne’s been playing both of us.” “It worked.” “Yeah.” She smiled. “Thank God it worked.Awwww Ellie!! <3 these two are so fucking perfect! I can't stop highlighting! So glad I could finally sit down and enjoy Ellie and Brett! Looking forward to finishing this later - wish I didn't have to put it down! :(100% Amazing! I loved Brett n Ellie! Had like zero time to read this week but loved finally being able to devour this book! <3 loved seeing them get their HEA - can't what for Maya's book! Love this series dno why it took me so long to catch up! <3 <3

Happy Release Week! This is the third book in the Friends First Series. It can be read as a stand alone. But I loved the first two books, Plain Jayne and Prima Donna. The characters from those books are in this one, too.As I read the first page of this book, I remembered one of the reasons I give this author's a FIVE BOOKMARK rating: The flow is so well done. She doesn't use flowery prose. As an editor, there isn't one thing I'd change. Her writing pulls me in and immediately immerses me in the story. She pulls my heartstrings and then she makes me laugh. She gives me a great HEA with all the feels necessary.Yep. All that.We start with Ellie getting another ticket from Officer Brett. We don't know how many this makes, but it's a LOT...and he takes her license, too. You know that saying about love and hate being two sides to the same coin? Well, Ellie is pretty sure she is coming up on hate for this law officer. Mind you, she has deserved every ticket she's been given, which just ticks her off more. For his part, Brett Hale is a by the book guy. He's not targeting her, he just catches her speeding all the time. He wonders how they are going to work together on the slow pitch team he's just joined, but her honesty dovetails nicely with his drive. One of the reasons they strike sparks off each other is because she was pretty much done badly by other officers when she was jailed for drug charges; jailed even though she was innocent. When Ellie's creepy ex shows up, it irks her that she has to depend on Brett for protection while the police try and catch him. Their relationship grows and changes, and it was a joy to read. Add in the laughs brought about by a visit from her mother and this book definitely goes on the TO READ AGAIN shelf! With this one, the four women we've come to know, Jayne, Regan, Ellie, and Maya are once again a delight to read about. The next book puts Maya in the lead, and I can hardly wait to read her journey to an HEA. I highly recommend this book! I hope you enjoy it, too!*Thank you, NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept, for the opportunity to read this book

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick3.5This was my first book from author Laura Drewry and I will definitely be checking out more from her in the future. Right off the bat I found myself not only hooked but I was able to connect with the story and the characters. I loved the banter between Ellie and Brett. In fact, there were a few times that I found myself chuckling at these two.Ellie is a ball buster and she's got sass and I loved her humor. She's witty and some of the things she thinks and says had me laughing out loud. I loved reading her interactions with Brett. Ellie isn't a fan of cops at all and I thought some of things she thought and said to Brett were hilarious.Brett...ah Brett was such a great hero. For reals. He's protective, caring, sexy and a cop. I mean who doesn't love a sexy cop? But for real, I really loved that he truly cares for his job and takes it so seriously. I also loved the way he was with Ellie. He was kind and really listened to her and put her needs first. *sigh*I really enjoyed the relationship between Ellie and Brett. I loved that they they didn't jump into bed with each other right off the bat. They go from enemies to friends to eventual lovers and it was great to watch their progression. You really get a sense of their feelings for one another and the feelings feel honest and true.My only complaint is that is took a bit too long for them to finally hook up. Don't get me wrong, I love a great build up but theirs seemed to take a bit too long and then when it finally does happen the book is just about over. I would have loved to see more of these two as an actual couple. The chemistry was there and they have so much sparks that I just wanted to see more of the sizzle. All in all, Accidentally in Love was a great story. It's sweet, cute, funny and I just couldn't get enough. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more from Laura Drewry in the future and plan on picking up the previous books in this series.

Loved this latest installment in the Friends First series. This author has a great way of telling a story and keeping your interest all the way through the book. In this one we have Ellie Palmer, who moved to town to start over and get away from her past. Unfortunately her past has found her. The only person who can really help her is her nemesis Officer Brett Hale. She really has no problem with Brett, other than he's a cop and she doesn't trust cops. Ever! And this particular one seems to take great pleasure in stopping her every time he sees her on the road. The witty banter between these two make this at times a laugh out loud read. I really felt their chemistry flare to life as their relationship changed. This book is wonderfully written and will definitely give you hours of entertainment. I highly recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.#3 in the Friends First romance seriesVery fun. This book covered all the bases. It was a bit of a police procedural as we followed the case against Ellie's stalker. And there are warm friendship parts where we revisit friends from previous books in this series. And the romantic scenes are hot! The characters are the best part of this story. Ellie has a leadfoot when driving her car, and Brett is unfortunately the cop who keeps pulling her over. Add to that the fact that Ellie had a very bad experience in her past with the legal system, and naturally she's not pleased or receptive to any friendship overtures, not that he's particularly offering any. However, when Ellie's stalker reappears, Brett becomes intimately involved in her case and in her life, much to her chagrin. But as they start to feel sparks, they realize that the sparks are more romantic than contentious. This is my favorite of the series so far (and that's really saying something because the other books have been great too). Drewry really knows how to build some well-rounded and warm feel-good characters.

This is the first book I've read in the series and I never felt like I was at a disadvantage by skipping the first two. If anything, I now want to go back and read those stories. Each of the characters were very likable with their different personalities. Their chemistry as a group added a lot to the overall story. Ellie and Brett are definitely opposites and it's a slow build as they come to terms with their feelings for each other. They have a lot of chemistry- either the physical or fighting kind. I really liked the premise of him being a straight and narrow constable/policeman and her being a sassy says it like it is habitual lead foot/speeder. Their banter provides a lot of humor and light moments as they also deal with a stalker ex-boyfriend. The final resolution with the ex was a bit underwhelming from what I built up in my mind and how it was escalating. The story would dip at times, but then pick up as the tension built between Brett and Ellie (will they/won't they) and what was the ex going to do next. BUT the slower pace also fit the characters and their gradual realization of their feelings for each other. It wasn't an instalove and they grew from frienemies to friends to lovers. (view spoiler)[ I also wanted a satisfactory resolution as to how her father left her hanging when she was unjustly arrested. I kept thinking he was going to show up and they would come to peace with each other over it, but it didn't seem to happen. I'm not even sure if Brett knew about that detail. I was very happy with how her parents solved their conflict - the mother was a great addition! (hide spoiler)]I received a copy of this story through NetGalley from the author/publisher for an honest review - thank you!!

Une romance qui avait hyyyyper bien commencé ! Super drôle, ultra choue, références (ponch, lol) et dialogues géniaux... Gros potentiel donc.

Brett he's the kind of man who follows the rules and takes action even when not warranted, "she barely had the door open before he pushed past her. “No, please, come on in.” Ignoring her , he did a quick search downstairs , including the closets and outside the back door." His girl doesn't know how to drive, "just take the damn exit . . . signal first . . . slow to thirty . . . slow to thirty . . . slow to—” Brett braced both hands against the dashboard as she took the exit. “Jeezus." Staring at Brett brings out the kid in Ellie, girl doesn't know where to look first, "standing there in nothing but a pair of shorts with a towel wrapped around his neck and sweat glistening against his biceps . . . against that tattoo . . . and down his abs . . . Ooooh boy. She didn’t even know where to look, so for some stupid reason she ended up staring at the middle of his chest." I liked this book there was sexual tension and at times just wanted to yell at these two to have sex already.

4.5 Constable Hale stars***ARC Kindly Provided by Publisher via NetGalley in Exchange for and Honest Review.***I don't know how she does it, but Laura Drewry is able to get a great storyline and make it way better than we ever thought! This series is amazing and I don't know how she's gonna keep up with my expectation because, from where I stand, it can't get any better!Ellie and Constable Hale (that's how I'm gonna call him because, let's face it, it sounds hot hot hot in my mind) are great together: their banter, their conversations, their looks towards one another... Everything is swoon worthy!Ellie is a spitfire and I cannot deny that I love it because I see a lot of me in her... Or a lot of her in me... Anyways, she's funny, loyal, and the best friend ever.Constable Hale (ai ai...) is sweet, and despite having to constantly deal with Ellie, he's incredibly patient... I'd have bitch slaped Ellie in the second page of the book because she just can't keep her mouth shut! But that's ok, because it amuses him to no end."Accidentally in Love" is a great story with a bit o mystery in the background. A mystery that, I must add, had me biting my nails till dawn. They fall in love with each other without realizing it... and we fall in love with them just as unintencionally!I can't wait for the next book in the series. Now, my letter to the author:Dear Laura, you have a big task ahead of you: The next book in the series must be even better!!!Good Luck with it. ;)Sincerily,Me------------UPDATEDYAY!!! Another book from Laura Drewry! And now they are connected (I know it doesn't make much sense but last year the books from this series where separated so most people didn't know they were a series)! Before you start it, make sure you read the other two (which I've already written their review - kind of):Book 1: Plain JayneBook 2: Prima Donna --->This one I haven't finished the review. That's why I'm rereading it, so that I can finish it and start the new one Which I PROMISE I'm gonna write a proper review in less than 1 year month ;)

Ellie's past experiences with cops have left her weary of them. It's just her luck that a cop resides among her group of friends--and he's the very one that's always stopping when for speeding.Brett Hale is not looking forward to having Ellie in his safe-driving class. But Brett's the type of guy that does what needs to be done so he will endure the Ellie's attitude towards him if he has to. He has always noticed her, but now that circumstances have thrown them together, he can't seem to stop thinking about her. Especially when her ex comes back into the picture.I loved this story! What made this such an enticing read for me were the characters. Ellie was hard-headed, sarcastic and fun to get to know. I especially enjoy watching how her defenses came down the more time she spent with Brett. How could she not?! He was protective, sweet and an all-around nice guy. I loved that I got to see Brett come out of his shell and stand by his beliefs. I admired his integrity but most especially his patience. Ellie did not make it easy on him--what with her not linking cops and fighting their connection every step of the way.The way the author worked the concept helped too. I appreciated how she went about bringing these two reluctant individuals together in a way that felt real. Their interactions were sometimes amusing, sometimes serious and always entertaining. They shared great chemistry and an even greater connection. One aspect of the story I enjoyed was that Brett and Ellie's connection was slow in building. Although the physical attraction was always there between these two, I liked the author took the time to develop their connection through their every interaction. The bickering, the subtle flirting and the candid moments they shared were what truly sold me on this relationship. I don't think I would have invested myself as much in this relationship if the connection wasn't viable. Like I said, it was slow in coming, but the journey was fun and worth the wait.Keep in mind that although this is the third book in the Friends First series the book can be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous installments and it didn't affect my enjoyment of this story one bit. The author focused on Brett and Ellie's relationship but still gave enough backstory so that the reader could follow the story without missing a beat. All in all, a very enjoyable read. A bit of romance, a dash of intrigue and a whole lot of fun.

Local good boy cop meets smart ass rule breaker in the next installment of the Friends First series. This was not only my first book from Drewry, it was also the first one I picked up from the series. I just really love starting them in the middle. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm really happy I read it.Ellie just can't catch a break. She has a bit of a lead foot when it comes to driving, and when she's pulled over again, she realizes that her license has been suspended. This is the last thing that she needs - she needs her car. It doesn't help that the officer who pulled her over is part of her friend circle, even though to call the two of them friends would be a stretch.Brett lives by the rules. As a cop, it's all he knows. He's pulled Ellie over more times than he can count and while he knows he's just doing his job, he just can't understand Ellie's animosity toward him. When circumstances throw them together for the foreseeable future, Brett starts to see a side of Ellie that she tries hard to keep hidden.I am a sucker for stories where they couple were friends first. There's a foundation that's built up and you feel the connection between the two just grow. This was true for Ellie and Brett. Animosity turned into respect until neither of them knew what hit them. When someone from Ellie's past comes back and threatens the safety of herself and her friends, Brett steps up, placing himself directly in the line of attack. Their charade turned reality was a fun story to follow.I would also like to say that I really thought I had this book pegged. The moment her past came back, I came up with this scenario that I thought for sure the author was going to. But nope, it went somewhere else and managed to completely avoid the over the top drama for the sake of drama that plagues so many in this genre. This was a fun, light, read that's perfect for summer. I will definitely be going back and reading the others in this series as I am now interested in how they all got together. I received an e-copy of this novel from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. Yes, these are my honest and personal thoughts on this book. Why did I want to read this book?I’ve been following Laura’s Friends Friends series since I fell in love with Plain Jayne, which is the first book. I’ve come to really care for all these characters and of course, I can’t wait to read each of their stories. What worked for me?Laura Drewry is back in business. While I did enjoy her previous book, I felt that it lacked that spark I felt when I read Plain Jayne. But now I’m ecstatic to feel that spark again. Yes!Ellie is so touch and spunky, independent and loyal. But she’s also wounded and guarded, especially around cops, who Brett happens to be, and this particular history is unraveled in the story. This adversarial set-up brings that essential friction and tension in the story and in the interactions between Ellie and Brett, I just ate it all up.Brett was just amazing. He’s basically an all-around good guy. He might have a bit of a hero complex, he probably would love to save everyone if he could, but it comes from a pure and good place so you won’t hear any complaints from me. And while he gives his all to protect Ellie, I love that it isn’t because he doesn’t see her as someone capable of taking care of itself but simply because he’s the one incapable of not taking care of Ellie. *lol* I wished that made sense to you. There’s this slow-burn romance, crackling chemistry, sensual pull, and entertaining conversations that I really loved about the story and of course the romance between Ellie and Brett. I also love the mystery/suspense part and how it didn’t overpower the romance but enhanced its development instead. And lastly, I love that we got to see more of the ‘super friends’ (lol!), characters from the earlier books. I enjoyed reading about their friendship and camaraderie. What did not work for me?Nothing, really. My over-all take on it?I really, really enjoyed reading Ellie and Brett’s story. If you’re in the mood for a sort-of enemies-to-lovers story, done in a slow-burn fashion, then you definitely would want to read this one.

Original review can be found at**I received an advanced readers copy of this book from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**Accidentally in Love is the third book in the Friends First series but can be read as a stand alone. I had the opportunity to read Plain Jayne but did not get the chance to read Prima Donna (#2) before reading this one. It didn't impact my enjoyment at all but remembering all of the wonderful and quirky characters made me wish I had read it. I will definitely be going back and reading it.Laura Drewry knows how to write contemporary romance and she knows how to write it well. She manages to keep things fresh, new and interesting in a genre that can sometimes be repetitive and predictable. Even though it may follow the same formula as others in this genre it doesn't feel like it because the story draws you in and the characters solidify it. The Friends First series is full of characters that you want to get to know and that you will fall in love with.I absolutely adored Ellie and Brett and was in their corner the whole way. Ellie's quick mouth and what I liked to call her "terms of endearment" had me chuckling on a few occasions. I liked her strong, independent attitude even if it was hiding a more sensitive and emotional side. Brett was one of those characters that you can't help but love. His quiet and serious attitude mixed with his good manners, concern and overall nice guy image would be enough to win any girl over even if he didn't smile enough.Their personalities mixed like oil and water but the chemistry was undeniable and I loved every minute of their journey. It flowed nicely and the build up and anticipation was timed perfectly to maximise my enjoyment. If you are a fan of contemporary romance you won't be disappointed with this one. It is above average as far as I'm concerned in the genre. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Even though it is written in plain black letter, it didn’t come to me that it was a book following Plain Jayne after I read the first chapter… Duh… When I finally realized it, I was so excited *dancing like a crazy girl* I really like the first installment of this series, didn’t read the second one, and I am on board for the third one… Don’t know if it is a smart move, but will see ;)Such a page turner! Finish it in on day. I really like how tension/feelings develop in this book to explode at the very end. As the first book, it is sweet, funny and friendship has huge part. In a way it reminds me of the knitting in the city series.I liked Brett in Plain Jayne, but loved him here. He is so protective, funny and I keep imagining him smile :)Ellie is so strong and I love that Brett is the only one allowed to see her without her armor. So cute !!! She is painfully honest, and sassy, and most of all she despises cop (!).The stalker issue is a good idea for this book, because it was the only way they would have to really spend time together and for her to realize that all the cops aren't like the ones she encountered before.Such a great book!!! Doesn't need to read the previous ones to understand what's going on, but they are so great that it would be a shame to not read them. Reading this one made me want to read Prima Donna and obviously to read the one coming out in September How Forever Feels

Accidentally In Love This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review by Netgalley. There is nothing better, to me anyway, than reading a book and realizing “hey” I recognize these characters. This was the third in a series, something that I did not realize at the beginning but as soon as I knew I had read one other, I settled myself in for a great read as I remembered how much I had liked the first one and now of course I needed to get the one in between too. Ellie Palmer has a new life for herself after leaving ex-boyfriend Kurt. A new shop, a new house and new friends in a completely new city. The only thing marring her new life is the local cop Brett Hale keeps issuing her speeding tickets. So many so , in fact that her liscense gets suspended for three months and she needs to go to traffic school with guess who as the instructor. Now because of difficulties with her ex Ellie does not really like the police force and is not receptive to Brett. To make matters worse her ex Kurt is back in town and his stalking her. Her only option is to get Brett to make sure she is safe. Now a funny thing happens the more she is around Brett, she begins to see him as a person and not just a cop. And she really likes what she sees. But Brett is honest to the bone and he needs to keep his head on straight and concentrate on his job. I really like this author's style. Ellie and Brett encompass the majority of the story but it is so much more, their group of friends is right there and we get caught up on all of them. Ellie's mom comes to visit and she provides a lot of humour, I could not stop laughing at some of her antics.I would rate this story a 5/5. I believe this author to be a great storyteller and in my history at least she has written two amazing stories and I cant wait to read the one that I was missing.

Ellie Palmer doesn't get along with the police. Not only is she the queen of speeding tickets, but whenever she's needed help from the police, she's been let down. So she's not too thrilled when Officer Brett Hale pulls her over to tell her she's going 20 km/hr over the posted speed limit, and also that her license has been suspended. Now, not only does she have to take a remedial driving course, but she also has to find a new way to get around. Thanks, Brett.Ellie and Brett have been in the same circle of friends for years, so when her dangerous ex starts bothering her again, Brett is the natural choice to protect her. As they spend more time together and get to know each other, Ellie realizes that Brett isn't as bad as he seemed. Ellie and Brett fall hard for each other -- but being together is impossible, since it would jeopardize both his career and the case against Ellie's ex.Accidentally in Love is the second book I've read by Laura Drewry, and it didn't disappoint. In fact, I think I liked it a little better than Prima Donna. In both of the books, Drewry creates such lifelike characters that I feel like I actually know them, like they could be my friends. And I think that's my favorite part of her books. They feel real. This was a really quick read that made me really happy. After the emotional rollercoaster of the last book I read, this was just what I needed. Accidentally in Love has cemented my status as a huge fan of Laura Drewry's work, and I can't wait to read whatever she writes next. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the invitation to read this ARC.

**I received this book from Random House-Loveswept through NetGalley for an honest review.**Ellie hates cops with a passion so when she continues to get pulled over by Officer Brett Hale, it is never a fun time. Brett doesn’t make it any better by having to take her license away. Ellie is forced to take a safe driving course and of course Brett is the only person in her area to teach the class. Other than having the same friends there is another issue that arises that fore Brett and Ellie to become even closer than they want to. I really enjoyed getting to know Brett and Ellie. Their story is funny and unfortunate at the same time. I really liked their banter from the jump, they had a connection that wasn’t going to be denied. Ellie was such a smart ass and Brett was stone cold, no smiling ever. Their gradual connection was awesome though. Their chemistry and that sexual tension they tried so hard to fight just made everything even better. Nothing felt rushed so that’s always good. There is crazy drama involving Ellie’s ex. I liked how everything was handled with that. He really came across as creepy and there were times where I was genuinely nervous. There was a part I was underwhelmed about but I think what I was expecting was the norm so nothing wrong with the change up. I’ve only read one other book in this series so it was fun getting back to the gang and seeing how they were doing. On to book 4.

The Friends First series, has become one of my favourite straight romance series. I have read all 3 books so far and the characters have perfect chemistry, each time. I just can't seem to put the books down! This is the third book in the series, and what a great addition. Ellie Palmer, I just love her straight, upfront, tell it like it is honesty. That coupled with her bit of sarcasm, makes her have two of my favourite qualities in a character. And boy did she wield them well. Most of the time straight at Brett Hale, sometimes being lucky enough to earn the reward of a smile.. which I must say, I totally loved that Brett tries to hide them. Brett was a great combination of quiet and assertiveness. The perfect match for Ellie. I loved that he enjoyed her witty/sarcastic comebacks, and had a great sense of humour of his own. Best yet... the sparks between these two.. whoa! I didn't want it to end!Laura Drewry crafts a fantastic , funny, contemporary romance, and I am completely looking forward to Maya's story.... well I am assuming Maya will get a story...wait.. Maya better get a story!!! If you have not read this author or series before and enjoy a fun romance.. I would highly recommend these books!I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Original Review posted at: http://paragraphsandpetticoats.blogsp...
