Title: Poles ApartSeries: NoAuthor: Kirsty MoseleyRelease Date:18th November, 2014Rating: 2 "Give me strength" StarsCliffhanger: No HEA:(view spoiler)[ Yes(hide spoiler)]I have to admit, I was left disappointed after reading this. Personally it was the result of my expectation and the reality being Poles Apart and much like the chafe of the Pole, it rubbed me the wrong way.I found Emma, the female protagonist to be one of the most annoying I have come across in a long time. This was mainly was due to what I believe was a lack of maturity and back bone. She is forced at a young age to take care of herself and her younger brother, in doing so she works as a waitress come lap/pole dancer in a Gentleman’s Club. Don’t misunderstand me, I don’t frown on this in fact it was what drew me to it when I read the blurb. I had imagined a feisty, in your face woman, unashamed at what she had to do to make ends meet; which was not the case. So then I looked to Carson to save the day, in his case I imagined him to have all the trappings of a playboy, successful on and off the track. A bad boy focused on winning, with a soft spot for Emma – maybe even the struggle of changing his ways for her once and for all. Once again, it was not the case.Whilst working in the club, Emma came to know and fall in love with one of it's patrons. Carson Matthews, the young up and coming Grand Prix Motorcycle driver and eligible bachelor. The attraction is still palpable even after Emma's long leave of absence and they pick up where they left of. Before a certain turn of events, the "relationship" between them never ventures outside the confines of the club; they go without seeing each other for weeks at a time and spend the time they do have together frequenting the clubs back room (paid for, of course!). Over to you NeNe:In the nicest way possible, I don't have much to say about Carson. I found him seriously lacking, boring even. I never felt attached to him in anyway and don’t even feel as though I got to know him. Yes, the story was told from Emma’s POV but if I could legitimately feel he was a bit of a sap then it’s also fair to say I could have formed another opinion of him also. I do have to give him a pat on the back though for dealing with Emma.My main issues were:(view spoiler)[1. If Carson had loved her for all the time that he protested, then pray tell why didn’t he take her out of the strip club? Or why he didn’t attempt to make things official between them at least? 2. We soon learn that Emma's duties extend beyond caring for her younger brother. Yes you guessed it, a secret baby! *shaking my head* For the past two years, Emma has kept from him the tiny detail that one of their clandestine trysts resulted in a baby! And her leave of absence was more than some time off. In reality it was totally unnecessary, but without the child there isn’t actually anything that ties these two together.3. Emma’s reasons for keeping said baby a secret... Not wanting to hold his career back. Back to you NeNe.. 4. I also couldn’t get over the fact that Carson would come into the club every few weeks, pay for a lap dance in front of his friends and then pay for “private” dance in one of the back rooms. I failed to see how this time together could constitute any form of meaning relationship.5. She allows Carson to come in and out of her life long after the birth of her daughter, unbeknownst to him but all the same. Even when he does try to do what he thinks is best, she displays even more childish behaviour. (hide spoiler)]Carson and Emma are rather young, Emma certainly has been through experiences most wouldn’t have at her age. I do sympathise with her in that regard, however because of this I expected a certain maturity from her, which wasn't evident. It may well be that I am being too harsh on her, them as a couple and the story as a whole but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. From the story to the dialogue, it was more flash in the pan than Flashdance.ARC kindly Provided in exchange for an honest review. Review-Jo Rushton Facebook: http://thehopelessromanticsbookblog.b...I absolutely loved this story. Kirsty has taken me on a crazy, emotional roller-coaster ride with this one and I freaking loved every bit of the journey. Move over all of my current book boyfriends because I've found a new one!! Carson Matthews was a hot, gorgeous, sexy MotoGP racing driver. I was in love!! lol. Carson met Emma whilst visiting the lap dancing club that she worked at. He had eyes only for Emma and every weekend, he was there just for her. The pair embarked on a unique relationship. As the story progressed it was clear that both wanted more and it seemed like it was time to take the relationship away from the club. Only one man got behind my defences. Only one man was allowed to touch me. Only one man was allowed to make me feel like I was in heaven. Carson Matthews.Emma was a sweet girl who I loved. She wasn't the usual type of girl I would associate with a lap dancing club but I soon discovered the reasons behind her career choice. Emma's life was a difficult one. Everyday was a struggle for her and my heart went out to her. Despite her problems, Emma was attempting to make the best of a bad situation. She didn't complain and was determined to make a better life for herself. I truly admired her for this and I was so happy that she had found some happiness with Carson. He was always like this: tender, adoring, gentle. It didn't feel like sex, it felt like he was making love to me. It had always felt the same, like we were connected: one person, one soul, one entity. Emma and Carson were hot together. They had so much chemistry between them and I adored watching their relationship develop. I was certain that this was going to be like a modern day Cinderella story. Emma would go from rags to riches with Carson by her side. I couldn't help but get excited for the pair. I loved how Carson woo'ed Emma, the things that he did made me squeal like a little girl. I was giddy with joy for this couple and I was convinced that a happy ending was in sight. When Carson kissed me, I felt like I could do anything and be anyone. Even though Emma and Carson made the perfect couple, there was quite a few problems that emerged as the story continued and of course, there was Emma's secret. I did not expect that one at all! So maybe my joy was a little premature. Suddenly Emma and Carson's relationship was not so perfect. My heart was breaking with every page that I read. I needed chocolate to help me through the heart ache. Maybe, there wasn't going to be a fairytale ending after all. Carson completely surprised me during this part of the story. He exposed a new side to him that I really did not like. I was utterly confused by his actions and I wondered if what I was seeing was the real Carson. Poor Emma, she was in shock over what was happening to her. I didn't blame her for the way she reacted. Unfortunately I became a little frustrated with how the couple were handling things. It was crushing me to see them behave as they did. Surely they could work things out. I was rooting for them every step of the way. This was all I was to him. A body, nothing more. Something for him to get his kicks with, just like he did with hundreds of other girls. "Poles Apart" was a fantastic read. I was hooked from the very first page and devoured it in one afternoon. I enjoyed everything about it, even the heartbreak and the stomach churning moments. There was a scene where I wanted to cover my eyes. I was so worried about what would happen next. Once you read it, you will know which part I mean. My heart was in my mouth! So would I recommend this book? What do you think? A big fat yes!!! This one gets 5 Amazing Hearts from me!

I absolutely loved loved loved this book. Kirsty Moseley has done a fabulous job. ! I have read her book "The boy who sneaks in my bedroom window" as well, and i did like it too, but this one was something beyond 'par excellence' :)I was so excited to get my hands on this book, I just straightaway dived into it as soon as i got one and finished it within 24 hours. yeah it was such apage turner I loved the characters a lot. Emma & Carson. Actually, you know what, um i liked Emma and i LOVED Carson :PThe story was very well written. I personally liked it and i guess that's all that matters.Only one man got behind my defenses. Only one man was allowed to touch me. Only one man was allowed to make me feel like I was in heaven. Carson Matthews.Emma was a lap dancer, yet a sweet, innocent struggler woman. I really liked her character and the chemistry between Carson & her, but in the end at some points I felt angry at her but may be that was the part of story as she was the one going through all that stuff. so, nevermind.!Carson was a hot sexy MotoGP racing driving. I loved his character, his caring nature, the way he gave importance to Emma and stood firm for her. Near the very end, he showed his negative side as well, This was all I was to him. A body, nothing more. Something for him to get his kicks with, just like he did with hundreds of other girls.but i think he was truly justified for his behavior, after all he still cared & loved her. !!"POLES APART" was a great read. I would recommend it to everyone :)

3.5 starsA nice quick read. Not a whole lot of surprises in this a plot that has pretty much been done but a nice easy flowing story. Just a bit frustrated with women who live in their heads and find themselves never good enough!!

3.5 starsThis book started out really good. Then I felt like I was reading another book, in other words they seemed out of character. Overall, if you are looking for a quick, easy read. This is the one!

2.5 Stars***I could not for the life of me get into this book.I was sooooo excited to start this because its been on my tbr for a while now and I didn't want to put off reading it anymore. What I'm left feeling right now is pure disapointment.I think this is one of the lowest rating I've EVER given a book and I'm seriously bummed about that.Emma is dancer who is trying to make ends meet by working in the club. She takes care of her younger brother and at the same time attends University.Carson is a famous bike racer who's been coming to the club and seeing Emma on and off for the past 3 years. Now when you have a heroine who is annoying the crap out of you and the hero who you don't give a shit about, you know you have a SERIOUS problem. She's in love with Carson but doesn't say anything. She is keeping this huge secret from him because she doesn't want to RUIN his career.W.T.FThis just left me overly annoyed and I'm gonna let my girl Tina translate my frustration. As for that secret, anger was more than necessary for it and quite frankly I'm glad that this is not a series.I'm proud of myself for not DNFing this and now its time for me to move on because I'm over it.

Poles apartOmg, hooked from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading.... So much chemistry between the lap dancer and young bike racer..... Working there because she left home at 15, meeting him at 18, just starting out in his career..... They really hit it off and he keeps going back, to see her..... I had all the imagery in my head, so her flat (apartment), bar, his home, racetrack everything came to life and was playing out in my head..... Great characters, chemistry, her brother was a wonderful support. Would love more! Oh I love Kirsty's writing and I loved this. A real NA book that really took me there and made me feel that after reading glow, you know?

Carson and Emma met at a Gentlemen's Club where he was celebrating his birthday. He was then an upcoming MotoGP circuit driver and she was a waitress and part time lap dancer. After that first meeting, Carson would regularly visit the club every week for three years. She watched him become successful and famous. Carson having feelings for her, in Emma's opinion, was a warped fairy tale dream. Emma was such a strong character for someone so young. The depth of her maturity in facing difficulties and her willingness to take on responsibilities was astounding. She was willing to sacrifice in order for the person she loved live his dream.Carson was such a sweet guy. Though their interactions were always in Emma's place of work, she wasn't just a lap dancer to him. His gestures and actions showed otherwise. I loved how he would ask her for secret words she wanted him to say while he was being interviewed so she would know he was thinking about her, and he would say it no matter how ridiculous it was. He was thoughtful, affectionate, caring.. all the qualities you wanted in an ideal boyfriend. Why he didn't make their relationship official? I will let the book clear that up for you.Emma never allowed herself to believe Carson would feel something for her. Like the title suggests, they were poles apart. He was famous and had a bright future. She was barely getting by sending herself to school and responsible for two people in her life. She carried the stigma of being a girl who danced for money in a club that she was impervious to his gestures and obvious concern for her. Plus, she had a secret. A secret that blew in her face in the most public way possible. There were parts that frustrated me, especially how Emma seemed so clueless about Carson's feelings for her. But all in all, it was a sweet story. It had the same winning formula as the author's other books.

5 Wow I loved it Stars:)I read well actually devoured this book ALL DAY and loved it:) Carson alone my god, 100 Stars, sweet, hot, sexy, simply put pretty damn close to perfect!!!!! Emma, loved her, she was a strong girl who had been through so much in her short life of 19 years and my god, I loved her!!!!! OK, so I read through much of the first half with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat for Emma....yeah, I was totally "feeling" her every emotion and I truly mean that. My heart broke for her but thank goodness by the end Carson along with Emma, BOTH, mended my heart all back up:) Their story was hot, sexy, sweet and yeah so FULL of miscommunication and unspoken words....omg, I was frustrated at times with both of them and the way they "didn't" say exactly what they were feeling or just plain "listen" to each other. BUT I had to step back and say they are "kids", I mean hello they were acting like their ages and so for that I could understand it, doesn't mean I liked it, but I got it. I LOVED the epilogue and "wish" I could have seen even further into their future but gosh I LOVED them and so glad they ended up exactly the way I had hoped for:)This was my first book by Author Kirsty Moseley and definitely not my last, I enjoyed it immensely!!!!!!

Poles apart is a really adorable story about a stripper and a famous BIKE racer (lol). I really enjoy reading Ms. Moseley books but man does she need to learn how to write steamy scenes. I hate that she skips over the best parts! lol All in all I really enjoyed this read but besides the missing sex scenes, there was just something missing. I think it's probably because it was a little unbelievable for me that a famous and rich bike racer would be pining for a stripper for years and not doing anything about it. But besides that, it was nice to read. You really have to know more British euphemisms though, some things I had no clue what she was talking about lol.

I was drawn to this because of the stripper-like theme. I'm all for this type of read. However, I didn't like how the story and the characters evolved. Maybe because they were still young and lacked the maturity I was looking for.It kinda annoyed me that Emma keeps on crying. C'mon now! Once or twice even thrice is okay. But it feels like every chapter she's crying. Don't stone me, i just dont like h like that. Carson didn't do it for me either. He was sweet then mad the sweet again. I don't know what to make of his character.

Once again a Kirsty Mosley book made me pull an all nighter because I just could not stop reading. And is was soooo worth it. As soon as I finished it I wanted to re read it again because I was that bummed it was over. Right from the first few pages I knew I was in for another addictive great read by Kirsty. The story starts off with Emma, almost 19, working in a gentlemens club. That's not all though, she is a student and is responsible for 2 other people. Talk about pressure. You get a backstory as to what got her in that situation and you can't help but feel for her. She doesn't deserve to be judged. She does what she has to for other people and that right there is very selfless and admirable about a character. I was shocked she started working there underage though. It isn't long when she started working that she meets Carson. Out celebrating his birthday, you can tell right away he likes her. He comes back just to see her. Even after he starts making it big as a pro motorbike racer, it doesn't change him. They continue to see each other (only at the club) for 3yrs. Emma has always loved him right from the start. It's in the present when he seems to be trying to pursue her harder and outside of the club. Little does Carson know, Emma is hiding something big She has a huge secret from him though and even though I agree with her reasons.....I was on edge wondering how and when the secret would come out. When alls revealed it was chaotic. Carson did a 180 personality wise and got nasty. It was heart breaking. From then on the story was even more captivating. I wanted the happy sweet Carson back, but the anger from the secret took its toll on him for a bit. It doesn't take long for the real Carson to show again. A lot of times you are also a bit frustrated with Emma since she is so oblivious to Carsons feelings, but with the way Kirsty writes her thoughts, you understand the way she interprets a lot of things Carson says and does. Emma has to deal with alot after the bombshell. She gets crucified by the press, his family, his fans, but Carson is right there trying to help her and you can tell he wants her to look at him the way she used to before all this. Emma hides her feelings for him but after a while things start to change between them and the get closer again. Towards the end you find out some things about Carson that just make you love him even more. He isn't the cliche playboy the press makes him out to be. I loved everything about this story. Love both main characters. Love the drama. It was just such and addictive story line, you will struggle to stop after any chapter. Though the epilogue still had me wanting more, maybe we may see them again if Emma's younger brother gets a story? I liked him he was a good kid and loved his sister. This story is definitely not one I will forget and will enjoy re reading multiple times.

I didn't like it. At all. Emma was kicked out of her home at sixteen by her extremely religious parents for having sex with her boyfriend. Angels Gentlemen’s Club was the only job she could find at the time. On her first night, Emma met Carson who was out celebrating his eighteenth birthday. From that point, Carson came back to the club, at the very least once a week, for drinks and lap dances from Emma. After a couple of months, Carson started paying for sex in the backrooms of the club. It went on for almost three years, minus the few months (view spoiler)[Emma left the club to secretly carry their baby girl to term (hide spoiler)].A few things bugged me:1. Turning teenager sexual exploitation into a love story. Did she really need to be sixteen? Also, while there is plenty of sex shaming, the underage issue isn't addressed at all.2. He really liked her. He liked her enough to come back whenever he could, to not have (view spoiler)[sex with other women (hide spoiler)], to remember her birthday every year and get her thoughtful gifts, and to get a freaking (view spoiler)['You give me wings and make me fly' tattoo for her (hide spoiler)]. But he never did or said anything about it. 3. He became a totally different person when he learn about the (view spoiler)[baby (hide spoiler)]. He said and did a lot of things that are, in my opinion, unforgivable. (view spoiler)["If you don’t [move in with me and marry me], I’m putting in a call to the best, most expensive lawyer in England. Then I’ll take you to court and petition for full custody of our daughter. I’ll tell the courts how you can’t afford to live, and how you sell your body to clients at the club. My lawyers will rip you to shreds. By the time I’ve finished, they’ll only let you see her for a week in the summer and every other Christmas for supervised visits. Don’t you think I won’t do it, because I will. And don’t even think about running away with her somewhere, because wherever you go, I’ll find you, and it’ll just look even better for my case."Holy red flag!! (hide spoiler)]

As always, I found Kirsty Moseley’s book to be enjoyable.Emma is a part-time lap dancer. Well, waitress mostly, but when someone in her section wants a dance, she’s the gal, and she’s even been on stage a couple of times as a fill-in showgirl. Read more

I'm seriously disappointed with this book. I quite like Kirsty Moseley as an author, but this book just was not good. The characters were both immature and the whole "FUCKING MARRY ME" thing was just stupid and not needed. I wasted £2 on this book and if I could I'd ask for my money back.

This is not an easy story, lots of ups and downs. I’m not even sure how to describe the couple relationship, one night stand, booty call, hook up I suppose it was all of these. Things I liked about this story I thought they were very cute together. Things I didn’t like he acts like an asshole and treated her like shit, he had a good reason however he needed to get over his hurt before engaging her. It all worked out in the end

Some possible spoilersKirsty Moseley is one of my favorite authors. I get excited every time she has something new out. Poles Apart wasn't my favorite of her books. I expected it to be steamier then it was. It had no sex scenes. I don't need a sex scene in all the books I read but considering what this is about, it seems fitting for some NA scenes. A couple times I felt kind of disconnected from the relationship. I wish I could have read a few scenes from their past because it just didn't seem real to me most of the time. Emma's emotions were written well I did tear at one point because of the pain that she felt during an argument her and Carson had. I believed her love for him but not so much his love for her. I knew he loved her but I just couldn't see it. My reasons are a bit of a spoiler (view spoiler)[ If he loved her always as much as he claimed by the damn end of the book, why didn't he take her on a date? Ask for her number? Talk to her about her life? Take her away with all his riches and marry her? COME ON! It was 3 years they spent a day or 2 every few weeks together ONLY at her job and mostly just to screw. That's just BS. She pined away for him and supposedly he did for her as well but he didn't do anything about it. If you ask me they're just dumb asses. (hide spoiler)]In her other stories I love The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window and Nothing Left to Lose I felt so much more. There was romance and a ton of sweet words I just fell in love. Even with some of the corniness at times, I still LOVED it. This story didn't have enough. They hardly saw each other for 20% of the book/ then all hell broke loose and they argued and hurt each other with their words. But hey they were together. Sigh* with a few sort of sweet moments mixed in/ Then the end was good. I didn't hate it. I liked it a lot and read it pretty quickly. I just feel kind of disappointed. I don't have much good to say about it because of my disappointment.

4-5 I'll let you decide starsI honestly just loved this book!! It was so refreshing to read then my other contemp books I've been picking up lately. Don't get me wrong, I have heard this type of story being written about; but I just loved the way the author approached this one, which made it different then the others. I absolutely fell in love with Emma and Carson! They were so cute together. Did I forget to mention, how sarcastic they were one another. It was hilarious. I thought the story would be a bit weird, because it starts off with the couple already being "acquainted" with one another. I usually prefer stories in which the couple don't know one another, and then develop feelings. However I was completely wrong!! There was so much more to the story that occurred, and I just loved it. I just have to mention how strong the heroine, Emma was. She was so strong and selfless, which I just loved about her. The book was written in the heroines POV, and I wish it was dual, but it's ok it was still just as great! I am being very vague about the story, only because I don't want to give away any spoilers. If I were you, I would just read the goodreads synops and go into the story blind. I scrolled down the goodreads page and saw a spoiler that I wish I didn't see. You find out pretty early on in the book anyways (I think like ch.2), so just give it a try first before reading other reviews. If you want to know what the spoiler is- (view spoiler)[ Emma works as a lap dancer to make some income, bcas she gets kicked out of her home. There she meets Carson, and he always comes to see her. They form a weird relationship, you could say. Emma only sleeps with him, no other clients and you find out that she became pregnant with Carson's daughter 3 years ago. She hides it from him, because his career is taking off so she doesn't want to ruin that for him. Then the story takes off. So don't worry, there's still a lot to it. (hide spoiler)]**I definitely recommend this book to those of you looking for a great standalone, and fans of the Driven Series by K.Bromberg!!
