I've read some autobiographies in my time, but never one like this. With all Jimmy Perrin books I have read, although pleased with the outcome, somehow I am always left wanting a little bit more. Yet not more as in more of the same, yet something just changed or tweaked slightly. This book portrays the writer perfectly and shows his comical skills in full, yet doesn't I'm afraid tell us anything about the person really. I know the book was designed this way and I understand that he didn't want to write an autobiography, yet he could have given a little bit more. To my surprise, I enjoyed the read fully and to be quite honest, enjoyed it a little more than I do the average biography I read. Jimmy's horse racing days, redcoat days and view of shopping were perfectly written and dare I say it, made me laugh a number of times, but is comedy all this writer has got? Hasn't he got any depth or reality about himself? For imagination I award this different style of autobiography with a 4 / Jimmy the person, Jimmy the character a didn't find out much 2 / For comedy value a successful 5 / Then finally for his writing skills a almost perfect 4. Overall verdict – It's a guaranteed laugh, it's a guaranteed smile, yet not if you want to get to know the person himself 3.

I have read a few Jimmy Perrin books now and no matter what he writes, they always put a smile on my face. Because the book was written in comedy, it was a little hard to work out what is his life and what he was messing about with, but it was a fantastic read nevertheless. I just love it when a person can not only make other people laugh, but can laugh at themselves too and he sure does that. Highly addictive read, couldn't put it down and dare I say it? The best autobiography I have read.

What can I say? I was hoping to find out more about the man behind the "Hard Up, Ardon" books, yet found out little really. In-fact, the only thing I did find out, is he's a very talented comedian. Not really into reading one line, slapstick comedy or humourous opinions myself, but this man had me hooked on his words. How he can take the simple subjects in life, talk about them, then turn them into comedy gold beats me. Great book, well worth the read.

If I haven't said it before, I will say it again. I LOVE JIMMY PERRIN !!He just always seems to know how to put a smile on my face, as I am sure many of his readers will say. I can't say I have read many autobiographies, but have seen a few. This ISN'T one. This is Jimmy, being Jimmy and it's just mad, crazy and hilarious. Funniest thing I have EVER read. A little too short for my liking, so here's hoping he does a follow-up one day

I said it after reading the Hard Up books and I say it again, Jimmy Perrin you are a star !! Couldn't put this one down from start to finish, laughed all the way through and I can't believe all the things you've done and can make sound funny. This writer knows how to put a smile on his readers faces and that smile is priceless. Top class reading.

As autobiographies go, this was the worst I'd ever read (Not much information given out about the person and left guessing most of the time) As autobiographies with a touch of comedy involved go, it was the best. I've never read something I have laughed at so much x

Although the book was very funny and witty throughout, I've only rated a 4, as I feel it could have been longer. Took me just three days to read and I was left feeling I wanted a lot more at the end. The shopping experience and having babies were my favourite two chapters here.

A book full of opinion, where even if I didn't agree, I still found it funny. Very well written
