Throwing her head back suddenly, she let loose a loud, evil laugh, straight from the bowels of hell. “At least this way, I get to personally witness your last breath,” she grinned as she cocked her gun. “Quite the consolation prize, I assure you.” I glanced over at Frank, who nodded as he tensed himself to break through the door. Cocking my own weapon, I knew that this was the moment…capture or kill, this all ended now. “I damn you to Hell Sheriff,” she shouted then, “You should feel right at home there.” Frank burst through the door with me close behind…it was the moment that my life changed…forever! Gabriel Celtic, an amazing detective trying to solve a spree of horrendous murders that have taken over his town. Extremely dedicated to his cause, he and his partner Frank search for clues to apprehend a new serial killer whose madness is closer to home than anyone thinks. I enjoyed this murder mystery, it had so many twists and suspects I thought I would start biting my nails wondering what was going to happen next. The suspense kept my heart in heart attack mode with the violence and horror of it all!!! Great detective work, determination and some superpowers of his own made Gabriel Celtic an amazing hero. Very well written, intriguing and kept me turning the page. J.T. Lewis’ story telling is fluidly smooth and entices you to enter a world that could easily be our own and fills you with the terror of how real it very well could be. Loved it!

Although not a bad story, I did find it a little difficult to read. I felt the story telling was a little confusing at first as there wasn't really one stand out 'voice' even though the book is supposed to center around the main character of Gabriel Celtic. It jumped around a bit between several of the players before settling into a clearer narrative. I'm also not a big fan of over describing everyday tasks. You poured a coffee and ate some eggs. I don't need to know how you prepare your coffee nor do I need every detail involved in cooking your eggs. (pet peeve-sorry)Unless there is a reason why those things will play an important part in the story ie someone dies because of it, I think its an unnecessary filler.Overall, the actual story, the mystery, is okay and I did enjoy trying to figure it all out but the writing could use some more pep and direction. 0nly 2 stars

Gabriel Celtic and his team work together to solve a series of murders that are happening too close to home by a killer that goes by the name of "Ghost" as the investigation heats up their quickly running out of time before the killer takes his next victim.. will the team make it time?? will they catch the killer? you must read "Murder Too Close To Home" to find out what happens! i was "hooked" from the very first page as this story presented a big mystery i couldn't wait to have solved which had me reading fast and faster until the very last page where i gasped and was mind blown as to who the killer ended up being. i would have never thought it possible!! you will be so shocked!!! J.T. Lewis the author takes you deeper than no other has ever done before.. hang on for the ride of your life because it will be a ride you will never ever forget!

Needs editing!Needs editing!I didn't finish this, so can't speak to the plot. I admit I'm a grammar freak, and I had a hard time getting past the mistakes. Loose and lose are two different words, as are then and than. Switching from past tense to present tense was equally as annoying. I might have kept reading, but what I read just seemed too amateurish. Those are just my opinions, for what they're worth.

While I enjoyed the story, the tense changes, misspellings and editorial notes that were not removed made it a little hard to read. Could use better editing.

I suppose I Should Have Expected......an urban fantasy novel by the name of the series. A chief character named Gabriel should have given it away. I don't know when I've read a book with more blood and death in it. Oh yes, and sex as well. Plus unedited proofreading comments, as well. I have not decided whether or not to purchase the next in the series. I'll make that decision later.

Despite the grammatical errors, I found the book to be an exciting read. I liked the main character and was able to feel compassion for him.. Yes, there was a lot of coffee drinking in the story and some of the references could have been eliminated. There were quite a few unsuspected turn of events that I didn't see coming which drove the storyline along at a good pace. . I found myself unable to stop reading, as I wanted to find out what clues they would discover next. I liked the fact that the clues were a combination of police work and Gabriel's paranormal dreams which pushed along the plot. I also liked how devoted Gabriel was to his partner (wife) in their working relationship, as well as, their private one. The ending appeared to be the set up for a second novel.Overall, this book kept me entertained and will definitely read the other ones in the series.

Murder! Too Close to Homeby J.T. LewisIt wouldn't be fair of me to rate this book, as I only read about 3 chapters. For one reason or another I just couldn't connect with the storyline, although it appealed to me in the abstract. But, something about the writing was off-putting to me and I can't put my finger on exactly what so bothered me that I could only read a few paragraphs, before putting it down to go do something else. Then, when I got to location 215 (Kindle), I ran into this, as Sheriff Allen comments on a murder investigation: "We are of course hoping something brakes soon." That's when I put the book down for good. Off my Kindle, off my list. So, maybe I'm missing a stellar read because the author doesn't know the difference between brakes and breaks and neither does his editor or proofreader. I can live with it.

I really liked this story. It's not another ho hum serial killer mystery, but has some interesting twists which kept me reading when I wanted to quit. However, the author has a serious obsession with coffee and I found this irritating after just a few steaming cups. In addition, the editing errors were extremely distracting. It's a shame to publish a great story without taking the time to polish it properly. With less coffee and fewer errors it would have been a five star read for me.

'Murder! Too Close To Home' was a thrilling book. Full of suspense, mystery and some pretty good action. The storyline was well thought out and the way it played out surprised me. I had a feeling I knew who the mastermind was, but I was still shocked at the reasoning. The characters were great. Gabe is a smart detective with an unusual way of tracking clues. Betty was a great character. I look forward to reading more of this series. A good add to your tbr list.

Lazy writing! The author appears to be very confused by what tense he's writing in, and there's just too much sloppy proof-reading for me to waste any more of my life than the first 10% of this book. To go to all the effort required to write and publish a book, I find it extraordinary that so little pride was involved in the final draft. Shame.

Superb read.I'm not an avid reviewer. I usually indicate in Goodreads the number of stars I personally feel the book gives me, the reader. This book however, deserves a few minutes of my time to share with other readers of this genre how delighted I've been with the characters and plot. Well worth giving this author a moment (or more) of your time.

You never really know another's mindJ.T. Lewis surprises with this twisted but shockingly possible look into the mind of a ruthless killer. A seemingly dull, small town sheriff's office is rocked by a series of seemingly unconnected murders. Even after catching the killer the hunt for a cold brutal butcher digs deep into the psyche of a disturbed, unfeeling mind.

Pretty good murder mystery book that brings you to the small town mentality and mixes adrenaline with romance. I picked up in the suspected murder early on in the book so it was like slowly unwrapping a present but a well-written book.

AwfulRepetitive phrasing, unnecessary detail, grammatical and spelling errors, the works. Amateurish and just not good. Author doesn't even know when to use "me" as opposed to "I". No idea how this got published, but don't waste your time.
