Racing Hearts Reviews
NOTE: This is my review of book one and two! I always admire authors who can make a reader (especially me) emotionally invested even though the story is shorter from what they usually read. Laura Lascarso is just example of that author. Racing Hearts is just what I'm looking for. Fast read with the right amount of steam and sweetness. The story being in Jesse's perspective is such a win for me! Like what I said from my previous reviews, male POV's is really rare for me to read, that's why I'm ecstatic every time I encounter one... and enjoys it. Jesse is so dreamy I really, REALLY wish he's real. He's like the perfect blend of charming and alpha. Plus, he's one of the most caring (fictional) guy I know. Yep, girls dig Jesse. And Brooke. The right mixture of smart and sexy. See why these two is perfect for each other? Book one of Racing Hearts left you wanting for more, and Book Two will fill you up with action and steam! I really enjoyed the facts I've learned about car racing. Everytime our characters talks about cars, I can really feel their passion towards what they do, and that's one of the reasons why this book is so believable and readable.I would totally recommend Racing Hearts for readers looking for books that will sweep them off their feet. Racing Hearts is an adrenaline filled book with the right amount of hotness and heart.
This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction AddictionRacing Hearts, Book 2 was a fantastic follow-up to the first novella, and definitely had me eager for more! This series features romance and race car driving – an incredibly fun combination! In this installment, Jesse and Brooke continue to grow closer as the day of the big race nears. While Jesse works to get both of their cars ready for the race (without letting her father know, of course) he also starts to unravel some pretty major secrets about their families’ pasts – secrets he just might wish he’d never uncovered! What I loved:Jesse. Once again, I just fell in love with Jesse He’s just the sort of guy who makes it impossible not to like him – even when he’s messing up. (Hey, he wasn’t perfect!) Jesse earnestly wanted to help Brooke, and he felt protective of her, but didn’t try to hold her back. He knew how important racing was to her, and he completely supported her, even when it got tough for him to do so. Who could ask for more than that!Brooke. Brooke seemed like even more of a spitfire in this book, which I loved! Plus, while I wasn’t completely sure if I trusted her as far as Jesse was concerned in the first novella, she won me completely over in this one.Secrets revealed. Pretty much all of the family mysteries that were set up in the first novella were revealed in this installment, which I appreciated. (Don’t worry – Lascarso set up the suspense for the next book in a new way.) And I thought that all of the answers we got were satisfying, surprising and plenty intriguing!Rivalry without jealousy. I loved that Lascarso put Jesse and Brooke into a situation where they had to compete but didn’t turn jealousy into a major point of contention between the two of them. Both Jesse and Brooke supported each other and tried to help each other, even though they knew that, in the end, there could only be one winner of the big race. It will be interesting to see how these two react once the stakes get even higher in the next book …The negatives:Not much. Honestly, I think the only thing that holds me back from five star ratings on these are that they’re too short to leave me completely satisfied when I’m done. There’s nothing earth-shattering about these books, but they sure are great fun!!I will definitely be continuing to read this series! With racing action, romance and a dash of suspense, these novellas have it all! I give this installment 4/5 stars.***Disclosure: I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given and all opinions are my own.***
WOO HOO! What an adrenaline rush! I love this series! Review to come...
I read this while interning at Leap Books where I am now a JP.This is the continuation and conclusion to Jesse and Brooke's romance. Although I really wish I could have a book three because I can see where there could be so much more to tell.Book two leads us up to the big race and the competition building between Jesse and Brook and the strain in puts on their relationship. There are also some pretty heavy family issues brought to light that were handled brilliantly by the author. You really felt for the people involved and started rooting for things to turn out for them. The race itself was soooooo intense (I'd add so more o's there, but it might look bad). A perfect climax for the story and, again, Laura Lascarso wrote the racing bits in a way that I was able to really understand and fall into completely. The ending was amazingly beautiful. The kind I go back and read over and over.
Book two was even more delightful than Book One. It continues the story of Jesse’s romance with Brooke, which deepens in intensity; we make more discoveries surrounding the circumstances of Jesse’s and Brooke’s parents; and we are introduced in much more detail to the semi-villainous (but ultimately lovable) Shep Bradley. As with Book One, the characters are written with insightful and loving detail but are even more multidimensional in Book Two. Jesse as the narrator is especially relatable and you will find yourself feeling very protective of such a thoughtful, kind, special guy. The book ends with a dangling promise of more Jesse and Brooke to come.. I can’t wait to see what happens next! Highly recommend this book to adults and older teens, it’s an awesome journey!
The first novella in this series was a fantastic read and this delivers too, just as good if not better. Take two likable, strong main characters—Jesse and Brooke—with romance, family issues, and racecar driving leading the plot, and here’s another novella that will make readers wanting more.
