Title: ConnectedSeries: Broken Part 2Author: A E MurphyRelease Date:JuneRating: 4.5 starsCliffhanger:. No HEA:(view spoiler)[ Yes(hide spoiler)]After reading the ending of the first book in Alexandra Murphy’s duo logy I was devastated. I knew something heartbreaking will happen, but I had no idea what exactly… The final chapters were so full of angst and sorrow I wanted to cry and threw myself on the floor. After trying to figure out what made Nathan a recluse who’s afraid of germs and touch, my heart broke over and over for my favorite character when I finally learnt the true… What’d happened to Nathan was not only horrible and distressing but also shocking. This cliffhanger ending would have pissed me off for sure but I was feeling okay with it as I already had sequel waiting to be read. So I dived into it almost immediately. I was not disappointed. Edgy. Gritty. Real. Powerful. That’s just four adjectives that come to my mind while thinking about Nathan and Gwen’s relationship. Connected shows them seamlessly. I wish I could tell you everything about it but this is a book that has to be read completely, from the first page to the last, and not be read about. When Nathan threw Gwen and Dillan out of his house, as soon as the young mother broke one of his rules and invaded his privacy, which caused that she learnt about his past, Gwen’s heart broke. She had to get back to living with her mother and ‘bury’ another man that meant much to her. But even though Nathan said he don’t want to know her he still cares about his nephew. He wants to see him regularly, despite being forced by it to see his mother. When they meet again, it’s like a hurricane. Nathan wants her badly but he knows he can’t have her. Gwen’s ashamed of lusting after her dead fiancé’s brother. The feelings they share are ready to overpower both of them but…Can Nathan stay away from this beautiful woman? Can he forget she’s seen the deepest of his secrets and how much broken he really is? Can Gwen let go of perfect memory of Caleb? Would they finally give to their feelings and connect? Connected continued Gwen, Nathan and Dillan’s story perfectly; everything I admired in Broken made an appearance once again and although second part of Gwen and Nathan’s journey was different it was even grittier than before. This emotional roller coaster of want, desire and unforgettable pain squeezed my heart and made it bleed. I loved every second of it. However there were few things I felt weren’t exactly needed, which were distracting, but I decided not to mind them. I closed my eyes on those minor ‘mistakes’ and enjoyed this ride till the sweet end. The epilogue made me smile and I felt warm inside. It was fabulous ending. And, I am very happy to the explanations of Caleb's death (view spoiler)[ I knew that Golden Boy wasn’t perfect at all! I kinda hated him from the beginning and I’m glad I wasn’t mistaken about him. (hide spoiler)]Overall, I loved this story! Part one and part two of Broken series had everything I needed in my story. From the tortured characters, unique, unforgettable plot to beautiful ending! Hey everyone,Thank you so much for being so patient, supportive and kind. I never expected the response I got from Broken and to say I'm nervous would be an understatement. The moment is finally here and I pray I don't disappoint! Writing about Gwen and Nathan has been an interesting experience, sometimes it still amazes me how attached I can get to characters I've made up. It explains all of my imaginary friends as a child... yes, I was one of those, don't judge! :pI'm going to miss visiting them with a pen (read laptop).Normally when I write a book I feel joyful when it's done but not this time, I've never been so absorbed by a story I've written before and I really hope it shows.Again, thank you for everything. You all rock!Much love!xxxxxxxxoxxxxxxxx

Best Epilogue ever!!This series is a must read. The story just flows and you cannot put it down. Everything fall into place like a pieces of puzzle. I <3 Nathan! Even though at times I wanted to smack him over his head, you can't help but give into the broken man. Enjoyed the humour and banter between Nathan and Gwen. A beautiful ending of how two broken people can create magic when they are connected. Can't wait for more books from A. E. Murphy. Take a bow, woman! A job very well done.

Oh. My. God. Guys, for serious. You know you like super hype a sequel in your mind while you wait for it, and then it's never as good as you hoped, and it's like, well, bummer, that was a let down, but oh well, it just never could have lived up?Um, yeah. That didn't happen here. Holy SHIT, guys. This book was so INSANELY GOOD. There were ALL THE EMOTIONS!!! I just want to spoiler the hell out of it, but I won't. Have you read the first book? If you haven't, what the heck is wrong with you???? It's free, go get it, devour it, then come back and chat me up in the comments, because this is seriously one of the best series I've read all year!!!! No freaking lie!!! I read so much I'm kind of, I don't know, burned out a little on books. It takes a LOT to make me cry. I cry at maybe like 8 books a year and I read 200+ and BOTH of books in this series have made me cry. So I'm not BS'ing your guys. I'm giving an official blurb to this author I loved these books so much! These books are just emotionally and psychologically complex, and the plots and twists are so well woven. It's just insane. God, I'm just sitting here feeling all emotionally replete after having finished this series, and I just put it on my Kindle under the Reread section, which again, like VERY FEW books go into. Okay, go forth ye and read. That is all.

3 THIS IS FOR NATHAN STARS I was so excited for this book. I HAD to start this book instantly!! I was so sadly disappointed. This story could have taken off and flew but it was flat. The same old converstations between the IDIOT Gwen and the AMAZING Nathan. Except Gwen did all the blabbing and poor Nathan faught for every ounce of love that Gwen had. Gwen......I pray I never read about you again!!She was awful in this book. I have never met someone so mean to someone that loves them so deeply. The things she did and said to Nathan pissed me off beyond belief. I know she was handed a shit hand in the first book, but she has this wonderful man stepping up to take care of her and her son. Granted, Nathan has plenty of lies that he is keeping secret from her, but all the lies were at the request of Caleb, Nathan's dead brother and Gwen's dead fiance. He knew these lies would hurt Gwen. He was protecting her, if that is right or wrong who knows, but I do believe in this case his protecting her was understandable. But honesty should always be first no matter what, but then how would we have drama! For me, Nathan gets5 STARS !! I loved him, love him LOTS. The life he was handed was pure evil. No person let alone child, as he was when the abuse occurred, should have evilness wrap it's hands around them and break them so badly. The abuse he was dealt created a very broken soul with many compulsions he couldn't fight off. Instead of being loved back like Gwen said she did, then didn't, then did again, then didn't once again, then realizing she was wrong again, she loved him again in her very strange, hurtful way. She used his abuse against him on several occasions and that in my eyes is deplorable. I don't tolerate actions like that and that ended my likeness for Gwen real quick. If I was Gwen, I would have never let go of Nathan, not for one damn second.Nathan paid the price for his brother's lies!Being the amazing Nathan he is, he stands by Gwen and saves her once again in the end. This man has a huge heart for so many knife stabs he suffered through. Nathan will forever be a fave of mine!!

No. Intolerable Heroine .No. Über Douchebagery .No. Taboo Subject Matter.No. Cheating: (view spoiler)[ .No.(hide spoiler)] Love Triangle (view spoiler)[ .No.(hide spoiler)]It's official. Nathan is one of my absolute favorite book boyfriends. It's been a few days since I finished the book and I still can't get him off my mind. After the way things ended in the previous book I knew I'd need some major groveling. Boy oh boy did my Nathan deliver! I just love reading about a strong heroine who sticks to her guns and doesn't easily give into the hero. I also love when we don't spend half the damn book waiting for the heroine to come to her senses and pick the right guy. I really enjoyed watching Nathan fight for her I was swooning from start to finish. And Caleb that freaking POS bastard! Wow....wonderfulI found the first 'Broken' by accident really I was flicking through the new releases on smashwords and there it was, I didn't even look who the author was I started reading and was hooked, it was only after I'd been reading awhile and was so impressed by what I was reading that I actually looked at the author, I was surprised because several people had recommended that I read her books and she was on my 'to read' list but as always it was a case of so many books so little time. I read 'Broken' until nearly 3 am only to be gutted that it finished on a cliffhanger so ever since I've been waiting for 'Broken 2' and again I was gutted that it was released on the day I was travelling for my best friends daughters wedding, a wedding I'd been looking forward to for 18 months now all I could think was 'when am I going to be able to read this book' the thing with this book, like the last is it's addictive, I should have left my kindle at home but no instead I find myself waking up at 6am the day of the wedding and instead of going back to sleep, like I should have done I start reading, I'm nearly half way through when I realise at some point I actually have to get ready. Sunday morning it's the same again and I've just finished it.I love this book, completely it's amazing, wonderful I could go on and on and on.It picks up where the first book left off Gwen is back living with her mother and trying to establish a life for her and Dillan she can't forget Nathan but he's made it clear he wants nothing to do with her so she has to try to move on. This book takes us on a roller coaster of a ride and at times I admit I didn't like the author very much, I'm not noted for my patience and I wanted them together and happy.Gwen and Nathan are both great characters, actually every person in this book feels 'real' and it seems more than a book which I know is silly but I can picture them all, it's almost like I've seen the movie. I have to say I absolutely love Nathan he's incredible.Tons of books get 5 stars, I've given lots 5 stars for various reasons and it seems somehow not enough for this book, it's so beautifully written and the subject matter is not easy but it's handled so well in fact it's hard believe that the author's only 23 years old.So I'm begrudgingly giving only 5 stars since it's the most I can give but it just doesn't seem enough.Beautiful book Alex you should be so proud of yourself. Why no voting buttons? Overall rating for both books.I have read the Little Bits Series written by this author and loved them. I love her writing style and how funny her characters are. The author is very witty. When I saw her new book Broken, I wasn't sure if it was for me. It's a darker book which deals with some heavy issues and one particular theme that is not something I like to read about. When the author asked me to read through some parts of the second book Connected for her, I started to like where the story was going so she kindly gifted me with a copy.Connected picks up with Nathan having asked Gwen to leave when she discovered his dark secret but he still wants to see Dillan so they start to see each other again and the more time they spend together, the more Gwen realises her feelings are changing for Nathan. In Broken we had Caleb and Nathan, in Connected there is a new male character who is interested in Gwen which makes Nathan jealous. There is a lot of toing and throwing on Gwen's part where her feelings are concerned.Nathan has many issues and we know about him having to wear his gloves but once they begin a sexual relationship I thought the author did a really good job on the sex scenes which were handled well considering Nathan's past. I also liked the slow build up to the sexual part of their relationship and how it's not 'amazing' sex from their first time together.Nathan's character starts to loosen up which leads to some witty dialogue. I loved what they purchased at the fairground! I thought the storyline really picked up in the last 40% of the book. Nathan and Gwen have a very up and down relationship with lots of angst which I loved as I love angst in a book. Couple this with the sexual tension and the healing of Nathan and it made for a great love story between these two. It's just over a year since A E Murphy published her first book. This is now her sixth novel and she continues to grow as an author. I was glad to see the return to form of her witty dialogue in this book even with it's dark themes. I look forward to reading more of her stories. Well done Alex!

I was a bit disappointed in this sequel. I loved Broken. It was such an awesome read. I just didn't feel the magic in this story though. Gwen was bitchy and made so many annoyingly stupid decisions. Mind games and screwing with the emotions of Nathan. She's constantly saying how she wanted to help him, knowing how broken he was and how he couldn't take the emotional roller coaster she was putting him on. Not sure how she figured she would help Nathan when she's having sex with him and telling him they are truly a couple, but at the same time she's dating someone else, and won't break it off like she says she will. I hate stories with annoying, wishy washy women who act stupidly in them, and this one walked a fine line between love and hate for me. I don't understand what happened to the awesome, strong, smart character she was in the first book. I did enjoy the twist at the end that I didn't see coming, as well as the HEA (finally!).

I'm a little unsure how I felt about book two compared to book one. I liked the story, but a lot of book two lacked the "oomph" I felt was happening in the majority of book 1. That's not to say that this book didn't have it's share of "holy craps" it did!!This is one of those series that kind of surprise you, you are thinking more can be shared and then you find out something else that someone else did, or someone else knew and said something. Some serious "what the hell did he do that for?" moments occurred. It was good!

Okay so this picks up shortly after the first ends. Gotta say this was mostly an unnecessary book. The author added in a bunch of stuff just to make a whole book I think. There was so much conflict going on with the hero and the heroine that we didn't need the random entrance of yet another guy into the mix. Sort of a 4th wheel. Added nothing to the story but unrealistic conflict.

There are very few stories that live up to their expectations when they go into part two territory. I am happy and proud to say that I wasn't wrong about this series/author and it was worth the wait. We got the past, present and the future in a lovely, as real as it can get in story land, package!I loved every minute of it and the epilogue was written so that we could get the future without it feeling all kinds of rushed and incomplete. We covered so much and got to see the outcome of their struggles from book 1 and 2. Normally I don't go for trilogies these days because most of them are just cash cows but I could use a next novel on these two. I am not ready to let them go :(As for Caleb, boy did we get some light on him! Unfortunately, I can't hate him. I get his point and determination however unscrupulous and an argument can be made that he was a sadistic little one but we didn't get that Caleb so I can't hate him and I still miss him. I actually hope he could be around to defend himself. Plus, we got Dillan and that little boy was just as awesome as a baby as he was as a hungry 16 year old. Yup! We go way up in the future and I start to wonder if we might get a novel on the children of this novel. They are now more interesting than all the parents :)Nathan was his usual self but he cut himself open this time and laid vulnerable for all to see. I connected even more with him and Gwen and got comfortable in their ability to understand and navigate each other's personalities. I felt their frustration, anger, betrayal, love and passion and I found that there is something to be said about having half way sex with Nathan. I have never seen it done before and it can be quite the kick to an ego but I surely would wanna try! It's just so erotic and weird o.OThe emotions of this level were high! Even though I had already figured out half of the major conflict, I had no problem going through the motions to reveal the rest. We were literally being taken through a day by day summary of their lives a few months after Gwen leaves the village. I didn't mind and I felt like I could spend every single day in their lives and not get bored. There is also an element in this novel that makes you able to relate to different situations as they arise, like the breaking down of friendships and the struggles new mother's face. Ms. Murphy also has the ability to write guys that we love but can easily hate and this go it was Eric.He was extremely pushy but he was a nice guy with solid friends and family. You can't hate the characters of this novel but you will get upset with them all from time to time. The addition of Valentine, Tiffany and Elle helped to cement and transition to the next level in Gwen's life. I also did what I thought I would never do and forgave her mom.She made mistakes and abandon her only child when she needed her the most but I love the mom she became in this installment and how she never hid behind anything. Every one's personality in the novel was distinct and memorable and made me feel like I was apart of the group. I knew what to expect from every one. This matched part of my expectation but still left me satisfied and with an addition to my favourite authors list. The culture was thick and true Brit, the friendships tentative and the emotions believable. I loved every minute and wish I didn't read it so I could read it again. It didn't need the heavy erotica or calculated deviants because it was more vulnerable and therefore memorable. All I can say is, Gwen needs to redo her Food Handler's course and Nathan should play poker with that face.

3 not-as-good-as-I-thought-it-would-be stars..yeah..Had high hopes for this one.. and, again, this is one of the reads where I had to just skim through it. It really couldn't grab my attention; and more than once, I wanted to stop reading. Mostly, the only thing that kept me going was that I really wanted to know how this was going to unravel. So, what happened was that I almost skipped through most of it and went directly to the epilogue!Yup. I know I missed a lot of things that took place in the middle; and maybe someday I may go back and actually get to reading those parts, but the fact that I couldn't, says a lot about this book.It had a good plot. Even though I wanted to throttle both Nathan and Gwen on a LOT of occasions. So, all in all, I'm thinking an okay read.

So book 2 picks up and there is no shortage of drama right from the start. Everything starts to unfold and we get little snippets from Nathans Past. Poor Nathan what he had to endure during his childhood and then Caleb doing what he did no wonder Nathan is the way he is.Gwen wants to help him get himself back together for her sake and his. This book had me laughing, crying and shouting out loud at my kindle. It was like a volcano slowly building and then finally erupting. Everything got answered and what a lovely ending. Brilliant read so enjoyed it.Note to self got to read more of A E Murphy's books.

Caleb, I definitely was not wrong with him and I'm glad.Nathan, I loved him even more in this book. The epilogue was everything and more. I love the epilogues and this was not the exception. So, why not the 5 stars?Answer... Gwen

This review is going to cover both books in this series, Broken and Connected. It was different, a little confusing at times, a heroine that was somewhat frustrating occasionally when she seemed to refuse to see the love that was right in front of her (although I admit it did have a lot of baggage coming with it) and a hero that half the time you thought he should be locked in an insane asylum and the other half you loved him to death. But, with all that the story kept me locked in and I needed to see how it would turn out (even though half the time I really didn't want to know). Our heroine, Gwen, meets a guy on the beach and falls head over heels. She gets pregnant, the guy dies a few months later in Gwen's bed with Gwen holding him. Gwen is now alone, broke and pregnant. The guy's brother, Nathan, comes on the scene. While Gwen's boyfriend was alive he warned Gwen that Nathan was different and to stay away from him. Boy, he was certainly right in the "different" department. Nathan wears gloves constantly and can't have anyone touch his hands. He angers easily, totally blows up and stalks off when something sets him off. But, he approaches Gwen about living with him and letting him take care of her while she is pregnant. She really doesn't have much of a choice so she does. The weirdness and blow ups occur frequently. Nathan leaves for days at a time, while Gwen moons constantly about her dead lover and tries to keep from going out of her mind with loneliness when Nathan is gone. Nathan is a jeweler and designs a lovely necklace for her. A thaw in their relationship is occurring slowly and then Gwen finally finds out what is behind Nathan's outbursts and weird habits. And it is horrifying.Broken and Connected are books you need to just read. You can't pick apart specific instances and get mad because someone is acting immaturely or weird at certain times because you just don't know the whole story until the end. These are long books with an English (I believe) author whose writing style I enjoyed, but the story does drag a little here and there. But again, I was engaged and wanted to see it through to the end. And, I wasn't disappointed.

3.5 stars.i started this book with such high hopes as i loved book 1 so much and we were left hanging with that ending! but sadly i was a tad let down by the sequel. it felt very repetitive and drawn out at times almost to the point where i felt like skimming pages because i was bored. shame considering i loved the first book so much and i really loved these characters and couldn't wait to delve deeper into all the secrets and history that we would find out within this book. it's well written, chemistry wise it's still excellent but it was just the back and forth between nathan and gwen became annoying and to be honest very unnecessary at certain points in the storyline. there was enough going on that i didn't need more gwen/nathan push and pull, we've been there and we've moved on so please don't relapse for the sake of added drama! but we did. yet again.overall, i liked it but i just didn't love it. the ending felt a little rushed and wrapped up too quick, certain huge revelations and their resulting fallout were forgiven very easily when in reality i would second guess a person for forgiving that type of deceit and withheld information so quick. i don't hold a grudge but i couldn't move on easy from that. story wise, i was happy where it left us at the very end and the epilogue was cute and fun but i just didn't feel the enjoyment and feelings as i did with book 1. just a little too drawn out at times which i can see others have mentioned in their reviews.. if that was tightened up i would easily have thought this was a 4.5 star read.regardless, i'm happy to have read this series and i'm looking forward to seeing what this author writes next.

Have you ever read a book that made you get so attached to the characters, that your chest aches - constricted with emotion because of what the characters are going through? That is what happened with me all the way through. The story deals with some heavy subjects. Finding out about Nathan's past had me closed to tears. And then what Caleb did to him. But on top of that, what Gwen had to go through... Unbelievable. I was shocked. Really, really shocked. It was all a fucking mess! A very interesting mess. I literally couldn't stop reading. This book is such a perfect closure. Such a PERFECT ending. The epilogue might be one of the funniest/sweetest I've ever read. Definitely recommend this story.

Obviously it's hard to live up to the hype of Part 1. But I enjoyed the book. It was a little long and a bit dragged out at places though. I was glad to see Gwen and Nathan give a serious thought to their relationship. Sometimes their miscommunication drove me nuts. I hated it when Eric and her were together but it all worked out in the end. I was also glad to see that Nathan's parents were not mentioned very much at all. They are spiteful people. I would help Gwen bury Nathan's grandfather's body. No questions asked LOL. The epilogue was perfect. They both came a full circle.

First of all, A.E. Murphy is an automatic one click for me. So I wasn't surprised when I couldn't put this book down. As a matter of fact, my dishes didn't get done, laundry didn't get folded, and several other things were neglected due to to my inability to quit reading this book. I couldn't wait to figure out what happened between Gwen and Nathan. The twists and turns left me riveted, and at times, I felt as broken as the characters. I think it was just fantastic writing all around.

I loved the way the story evolved between Nathan and Gwen, all the different twists and turns kept me guessing of what would happen next,I couldn't put the book down and ended up reading it in one night. A beautifully written story.

Awesome 2 book series full of drama and angst! I really enjoyed this series and couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed and the storyline was quite different that it had me anxious most of the time I was reading!

A follow up from book one (Broken). These books took me on an emotional roller coaster, and I loved every single minute of it. The ending was satisfying, but slightly depressing as I wasn't ready for it to end. The titles fit the books perfectly...And the epilogue? Yay!!!

Esperaba un secreto más "emocionante". Gwen se porto como una perra todo el libro, sobre todo con Nathan. Y caleb me caes mal, seriamente mal, lo que le hiciste a Nathan hermoso de mi corazón no tiene nombre.
