Did somebody say Jen Knox's poems "read like Richard Pryor with an MFA"? Yes, somebody did. (It was John Findura in Verse Magazine.) She's also been compared to comedian Sarah Silverman, artist Jeff Koons, a 10-year-old who can't keep her mouth shut, and cartoonist R. Crumb. None of these equations is quite right, however. Jennifer L. Knox's work is unmistakably her own: darkly hilarious, surprisingly empathetic, utterly original. DRUNK BY NOON is the eagerly awaited sequel to Knox's first book, A GRINGO LIKE ME, which is also available from Bloof in a new edition. Jennifer L. Knox is a three-time contributor to the Best American Poetry Series and her poems have also appeared in Great American Prose Poems and Great American Erotic Poems. Another super funny and strange collection by Knox. It's the kind of stuff that makes your jaw drop and makes you think, "I can't believe she wrote that." What cracks me up most is when her blunt sexuality surfaces on the page and elbows around with her goofball asides. Maybe my fave poetry book of the year.I did an interview with Jennifer almost exactly two years ago. She is a force. Check it out.

I got drunk while reading these poems and also off of these poems and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I don't usually read poetry, but I gave this a try. I laughed out loud sometimes, but I have to admit she's not really my style. That said, Knox is a great poet -- even if I'm not giving her a review that reflects her skill (but my enjoyment thereof).

This (bluebird) poetry book is fan (bluebird) tastic. You can read it to your friends in the kitchen. Or sing your luvah (Stef) to sleep with tales of meat. Thanks Bethany who thought I'd like to get drunk by noon.

A thoughtfully hilarious collection of referential poems that breach the jello wall of the uncanny. This one's going to stick with me.

The book seemed to improve as it got going. Really enjoyed the latter half.

Idea: a drinking game for reading Jen L. Knox's fabulous Drunk By Noon where you take a drink every time she mentions drinking.
