4 Debut Stars!!This book starts with the prologue where we meet the "Justice Brothers" Jason Cameron aka Cameron Justice, Alex Velleja-Marquez, and Draegyn (Drae) St. John while they're stationed in Afghanistan, they were all lucky to get out alive after their HQ was the site of a suicide bombers target. After leaving the military and lengthy recoveries they form an exclusive agency "The Justice Agency" based in Sedona AZ specializing in surveillance, protection, and cyber security. This first book of the series focuses on Cam Justice although we are introduced to all three of the "Justice Brothers" and get to know a little bit about them. Cam is taking a breather after a lengthy assignment in Mexico and decides to go back east where he was born and barely survived his youth, poverty and neglect were a part of his young life, we learn the circumstances of his troubled youth and what lead him to join the military and basically set him on a path of survival. While sitting at a diner he notices a young woman sitting alone, trying her best to go unnoticed and undetected. Him being in the business he's in, knows there is a story there not to mention he's attracted to the lovely young woman. He watches her routine for a couple days and decides to follow her. He knows she's in hiding, she’s poor, and she’s scared, after following her to a shelter he decides to watch her the following day and winds up saving her from a couple of thugs.Lacey Morrow is very weary of her "Dark Knight" but decides to trust him having no other immediate choice. Cam takes care of her and gets her to open up a little. He persuades her to stay at his motel where he proceeds to further take care of her and gain her trust. Lacey is young (22) she has been on her own since she escaped a life of abuse at 17, she's not sure what to think of Cam. Cam’s being very respectful, kind, and considerate, there’s is definitely an mutual attraction between them. Cam convinces Lacey to head to Arizona, with the promise of a stable job and housing it's too good an opportunity for Lacey to decline, she craves stability and a home. During the road trip we learn more of Cam and Lacey's past and eventually one night they both succumb to the attraction they've been fighting and good Lord the sex is smokin' HOT!!!!!. Lacey thrives in her new environment with Cam, Alex, Drae, and the rest of the "Hacienda" family. Cam is determined to remain alone and Lacey knowing he's the one for her, sets out to prove to him that he deserves to be loved and to love in return. It's was a bumpy road for Cam & Lacey, one that I thoroughly enjoyed!! I'm looking forward to the next installment "Fixing Justice" (Spring 2014) which will be Draegyn (Drae) St. John's book....the excerpt at the end of Broken Justice made me want it NOW!!!!!*ARC provided by Suzanne Halliday to Swept Away By Romance in exchange for an honest review

DNF @ 4%.Ok, so the beginning starts with the H in Afghanistan. He hears people speaking Arabic and is attacked. WAIT! Arabic is NOT the language spoken in Afghanistan. This author did absolutely no research. If she did, then she would know that Pashto and Dari are the languages spoken in the country. So this author thinks that Arabic is the only language in middle eastern countries. It's either that or she thought terrorist and jumped to Arabic somehow being "their" language. I could have ignored the error and kept reading but it really bothered me. It's this kind of ignorant bull$%*! that has made life worse for Muslims. I'm going to give this book as much thought as the author did when researching for it. Girl, bye!

Cameron Justice (aka Jason Cameron) is taking a break after a long assignment in Mexico City. He's back at his old stomping grounds of his youth, when he spots Lacey Morrow for the first time. Cameron can't keep his eyes off her. Something about Lacey intrigues him and he ends up following her. While following her on foot Cameron shows up in time to save Lacey from two guys trying to mug her. Cameron can tell Lacey doesn't have a home and is barely surviving. He offers to clean up a nasty cut she got during the attack. Lacey isn't sure why she accepts the help being offered from Cameron. Her past makes her very leery of any man but for some reason she feels safe with Cameron but is still on guard. Cameron makes an offer to Lacey that will help her get on her feet again and a new start. An unexpected night taking care of one another leads to an unexpected friendship between the broody Cameron and the young Lacey. This was a lovely debut novel from author Suzanne Halliday. I am excited about the Justice Brothers series. This is Cameron and Lacey's story but the readers are also introduced to Draegyn St. John and Alexander Valleja-Marquez, who make up the rest of the Justice Brothers. The three men were comrads and fought together in Afghanistan. After a horrific incident during their tour in Afghanistan the men come home changed and scarred emotionally and physically. They find solace in their changed world by teaming up again to form an agency that deals with surveillance, protection and cyber security. So with this in the background we are introduced to Cameron and Lacey in Broken Justice. Cameron grew up in poverty and lost his mother at an early age. He was raised by the foster system and was spiraling out of control but at nineteen when he joined the military he found the skills and discipline that was lacking in his youth. Cameron has no love for his deceased mother. He grew up rough because of the bad and selfish decisions his mother made. With his history with this mother and what happens in Afghanistan and the involvement of a woman that the military base he was at, trusted, Cameron doesn't have much use for women other than that of the flesh. He's pretty much shut down emotionally and is able to compartilized his emotions into neat boxes. So watching Cameron's world totally change once Lacey makes an appearance is pretty funny. The tough, broody and closed off Cameron is so lovable. I enjoyed watching his butt try to fight off his attraction for Lacey. Cameron has sex appeal in spades. The man literally set me on fire with his dirty and sexy thoughts and talk. Yowzer. One of my favorite storylines is when the hero fights tooth and nail their attraction to the heroine and Cameron definitely delivered that for me. Once he succumbs though the boy still fought which was fun to read. Lacey was a strong heroine. I thought with her background I would get a simpering heroine but Lacey was not even like that at all. I liked her character very much. I could see her as someone I'd like to hang out with. She was very up front and honest. When Cameron starts pulling away at times I liked how she didn't run off to lick her wounds in the corner. She lived her life and gave it back to Cameron. Her roll with the punches attitude was what I liked best about her. I know this threw Cameron off alot when he'd expect Lacey to act a certain way and she does something different and unexpected. The girl kept mister broody on his toes. When Cameron and Lacey meet they are on the east coast. So on their way to the compound where Cameron's agency is at Cameron and Lacy spend time getting to know one another and develop a friendship that is chock full of heated glances and lust. The attraction these two feel for one another is very thick and palable in this story. The author does a great job of conveying this. The sex scenes were hot, hot, hot!!! I do wish there had been a bit more conversation between Cameron and Lacey. We spend a lot of time inside their heads. I wish there was just a tad more scenes with them conversing. Also Cameron's nickname for Lacey really threw me off at times during the reading. I thought that was such a ridiculous nickname. I wanted him to stop referring to her by it. LOL. I loved the interaction between the three friends (Cameron, Alex & Drae). I definitely cannot wait for Drae's book and then Alex. This was definitely a good start to a new series that I am now looking forward to.Review originally posted on blog:

Too "Wordy"...if there's such a word.2.5 starsI liked the plot concept: Sexy, silent/brooding, protective war veteran (in his 30's) with emotional baggage rescues a young homeless woman (22 yrs old) from thugs only to fall for her. The h didn't grate my nerves. She wasn't a doormat or immature. The H was likable; not exactly as possessive as I thought he'd be but he was protective of the h. There were times when it was clear his perspective was written by a woman and the choice of nickname (Ponytail) for the h was not very creative. There wasn't any cheating or OM/OW drama and yet I found this book to be very forgettable. At the end of the day, it turns out that I really didn't enjoy the author's writing style. There is an explosion of descriptive paragraph after paragraph. It was too much. It shouldn't take that long to get to the point. I found myself skimming some of the word vomit just to get to the nitty gritty. I really deliberated between a 2 star and 3 star rating for this book...did I flat out hate it? No. Did I like it? Eh, it had its moments and I do think that if this had been properly edited to condense the word vomit to meaningful and effective writing then, yeah, I would have really liked it better. I settled on 2.5 stars. I'm just glad I got this book when it was on sale for .99 cents! If you're interested in this book I recommend you try the sample first and see if the writing style is up your alley.

originally read: sometime during 2015 (rated five stars)re-read: 06/02/17 (rated three stars)I honestly hadn't thought that my reading tastes had evolved much at all, many of my old favourites continue to be my favourites no matter how many times I read them. But this book has proved me wrong. When I originally read it a few years ago I fell in love with it, I rated it five stars and it has forever since lived on my favourites shelf. After reading through this book again I was rather underwhelmed. By no means was it a bad romance book, but I have just read so many other, better book since. Unfortunately I'm down-grading my rating but I think maybe when I first read this book it had just resonated with me and now I'm older it just didn't effect me as much.

This series follows “The Justice Brothers” Cameron, Draegyn and Alex. Although this story is mainly about Cameron we do get introduced to the other guys in the series. They all serve together in the military. The prologue of the story gives you insight into why these three are like they are. You follow their time in a special ops unit and read about an incident that meant things would never be the same for any of them. After leaving the military behind they set up an agency together which deals with surveillance, protection and cyber security. Cameron is taking a break after an assignment when he first meets Lacey. Cameron watches her behaviour and body language and for some reason he couldn’t ignore her, the more he watches her the more he realises it’s because her life seems somewhat similar to his old life. He follows her and comes to her rescue when she is attacked in an alley way, Cameron decides to take her back to his motel and clean up her injury. Although hesitant at first Lacey follows, and then as evening descends she ends up helping him when he comes down with a fever. For whatever reason Cameron can’t understand he decides to offer her a life line, this means she would come back to Arizona with him and he would get her a job. Lacey is unsure of what to do, but eventually decides that this is the best thing for her, a fresh start, a news life. The sexual chemistry between Cameron and Lacey doesn’t seem to hurt. You can feel the tension coming off the page, as they both try and figure out why they feel this way, and they try and control themselves. “We both got carried away and for good reason. The chemistry between us is powerful and even without experience you sensed it.”The journey to Arizona is meet with some conversation, a few motels, and lots of smouldering looks being exchanged. After a trip to a military base, everything changes between them. Cameron’s fighting demons, Lacey wants to comfort him but is unsure of how. Back at the hotel, Cameron decides he can’t wait any more “He’d reached his breaking point. He. Couldn’t. Stay. Away.” In the morning he did what he seemed to do best, closed himself off and retreated. Lacey wasn’t going to put up with that so when he returned she turned the tables.Getting to Arizona and getting settled seemed to have happened quickly for Lacey, she fit in with Alex and the other employees, she completed her job well and everything seemed to be going well for her, apart from getting Cameron to open up to her. Cameron can’t seem to figure out his feelings, he is jealous of Alex talking to her, but hardly talks to her himself. He spends the night and runs again, this happens just before a trip away, leaving Lacey without him.Returning, Lacey decides he doesn’t just get off that easy when he ignored her the whole time he was away, she wants control and she wants him to surrender his. Getting what she wants, she leave for work in the morning but her day is ruined with some overheard conversation from Cameron, Alex and Drae. I liked when this happened, although it was quite hard to read as you felt for Lacey, it also made her change as a person and say what she really wanted to say, no barriers. This was a good read, I enjoyed it and I look forward to Drae’s story and also finding out more of what will happen with Cameron and Lacey. Well done Suzanne Halliday on a gripping read.Stacey

3.5 Could Have Been Better Stars!I am a bit conflicted with this one. Whilst I enjoyed the characters for the most part they just weren't developed enough and the story was completely lacking. The book had the foundations to be a great read but just fell flat for me.When I read the synopsis I was pretty excited it seemed to have all the ingredients for the perfect book-- Hot ex-special ops alpha male tortured by his past and closed of from his emotions- Sweet and courageous innocent girl who has been dealt a crap hand in life but overcomes it- Hot friends who are more like brothers who are also tortured by their pasts- The exciting Justice Security business Well, whilst all those things were in the book the delivery was just not there. The relationship between Cameron and Lacey went from red hot passion to feeling stagnant and slightly boring in between the sex. Whilst I commend the author on the very long and descriptive sex scenes (I swear one of them went for 2 chapters) it wasn't enough to build a strong relationship between these two. For the majority of the book there was very little verbal communication it was all long inner monologues, some were funny, most were repetitive. Cameron, was a tortured alpha hottie and I did like him but I didn't love him. There was a lot of douche bag behaviour which didn't bother me, what bothered me was the lack of redeeming himself. He treated Lacey like crap, hurt her feelings, confused her and despite all those things was ready to drop her panties for him whenever. I really don't mind an alpha-asshole, in fact I actually kind of love them but that love for them comes from the grand proclamations of love that inevitably come at the end of the book. Unfortunately a few sentences and some pearl earrings weren't enough for Cameron to steal my heart. As for the secondary characters, there was minimal interaction and hardly any depth to them which is unfortunate as it left me not really caring about any future books in the series. I was expecting a really close brotherly relationship between Cameron, Draegyn and Alex and whilst it was implied it was never felt. And finally, I may be in the minority here but in this type of book I expect a little but of drama/action on the side of my romance. I mean, they own a private security business and are ex-special ops, I kept waiting for something to shake the story up a bit but alas, all I got when it came to Cameron's exceptional skill was a punch to one guys face and him stitching Lacey's arm. That was a bit disappointing.Overall, if you are in the mood for a light romance with a brooding alpha-male and a sweet innocent girl who both don't talk much, with not a lot of story but a good dose of steam, this is definitely the book for you. However, If you like a bit of drama, action and dialogue to accompany that romance and steam, you should probably give it a miss.

The first book in the Justice Brothers series by Suzanne Halliday. Cam, Alex, and Drae were stationed together in Afghanistan, when a suicide bomber blew the camp. Now years later they formed a security agency, Justice Brothers. Cam is on the east coast before he returns to Arizona after an assignment when he sees a young woman enter the diner where he is. There is something about her that tells him she is hiding. He follows her and saves her when she gets mugged. She is injured and he takes her to his motel room and doctors her. The book started out great and I enjoyed about the first half a lot. Unfortunately, it started to lag a bit for me after that. Cam was getting irritating with his wishy washy attitude and I guess I expected more of a romantic suspense novel. While there wasn't a cliffhanger there are issues that never got resolved that bothered me. But it seems to be well-liked so....

The story of the Justice Brothers started out strong and just kept building on the relationship between Cameron, Drae and Alex. It told of their war time experiences and then built on another character, Lacey.I loved how Drae came to her rescue and brought her into his world. From the things she ran from the her fight or flight, Cameron was there for her.***SPOILER***Cameron brought her back to the compound which was so much more than she had ever seen. She fit right in and began to work hard to right the mess left by an assistant who was called away for a family emergency.Alex was her protector as Cam was figuring out how to keep her in his life and yet unsure how he could fit her into his life.Drae was a bit under developed, but I can see him having a bigger part in the books that follow. Other than him being a man-whore, he was a solid friend to both Cam and Alex.Lacey is a straight shooter and she began falling in love with Cam, but didn't want to let on and then when they began their intimate relationship, she didn't want to be clingy, but Cam just came to her in the nights and left her hanging the next morning. Lacey found she was good at the job and integrated well with the others in the compound, making friends with everyone. With Alex telling her to give Cam time and Drae telling Cam he was an idiot, the two would soon be getting together. The book ended, but yet left a lot up in the air. I'm anxious to read the next book in this series. This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely continue to read what she writes.4.5 stars

This was a good read.It was page turning, totally OTT HOTTTTT, and had a great possessive Alpha. It was also one of those books, where the h knew what she wanted, which was our H, and the H wasn't too sure about him being good enough. Our heroine's inner strength and belief in their relationship is strong and really has the reader cheering for her throughout the book.I loved Alex and Drae (the future Hs)<--totally looking forward to their books.Cameron, the H of this book, was a great intro to these guy's world and I'm so happy I went for this series.Totally recommend to anyone who wants a smokin hot read and a possessive Alpha.

4.5 +++ Stars!!!5 +++ Flames for Hotness!!!Attention People: I want a Justice Brother Please!!! Cameron Justice is a hot ex-Special Ops guy that just exploded my kindle into pieces. I was taken with this book from the prologue. This book cover is hot!Two broken souls that meet and heal one another is what this book is about. Cameron “the dark knight” swoops into Lacey’s life by saving her from being assaulted. Lacey swoops in and assaults Cameron’s emotions with her sweet innocence. There chemistry is off the charts. You feel a slow simmering sexual tension throughout the entire book. It does not take long into the book you get some satisfaction but it is quickly drawn back for the story to develop. Lacey is a strong female character that will not give up on Cameron. She is not about creating drama but letting Cameron work through his demons patiently. Cameron is a confused Alpha male that gets tongue-tied as soon as he is in Lacey’s presence. He has so much doubt about being worthy of Lacey’s love he keeps pushing her away to protect her. Alex and Draegyn put the relationship and life in to prospective for Cameron. I loved Alex and Draegyn and cannot wait for their stories.I really enjoyed this story. I laughed out loud, I swooned and my heart broke on a few occasions. Let me just say I loved the Stewardess Joke. You will know what I am talking about when you read the book. Funny and Sweet is what it was. Now you ask why the 4.5 stars instead of 5, well I felt the ending was a bit rushed and also felt Cameron was still holding back from Lacey. I know that we will see Cameron and Lacey in the next two installments of the series but when the baby issue is talked about I wanted to know what was going to happen. Other than that, I loved the book and the writing was superb. The story flowed beautifully. This is my first Suzanne Halliday book and will not be my last. In fact I am just starting to read the next installment of the Justice Brothers “Fixing Justice”. I highly recommend the Justice Brothers for the afternoon or evening you will not be disappointed in the hot men.My Favorite Quotes:His first aid kit and battlefield training could handle the injury but he wasn’t so sure he had anything that would solve the problem presented by having gotten involved in her life. – CameronThe sound of her voice reached inside Cam’s empty heart and took up residence. – CameronAll he knew for sure in that moment was that he wanted, no hungered for, a simple human connection with this woman. His heart skipped a beat when his mind, or maybe it was is heart, screamed that he needed her. – CameronYeah, he made her feel safe. And he made her fell all flushed and sparkly inside. – LaceyShe thought he was beautiful and at this second, she’d never seen anything sexier or more enthralling than Cameron Justice. – LaceyShe wanted his hands on her. Wanted to know what it was like to be consumed by this man, to be flung into the flames of desire until he had absorbed all her fire and wrung the last drops of pleasure from her body and soul. – LaceyHopefully, she could reach inside his walled-off emotions and find a way to release his heart. - Lacey

As the first book in a series “Broken Justice” started strong. I was sucked into the story right away. Lacey was the down on her luck but plucky heroine, and Cameron was the strong silent type that came to her rescue. He instantly wants to help Lacey. So offers her a job with his company across the country. Lacey jumps at the chance for a new start, and a chance to explore the chemistry between them. Cameron is reluctant but charmed by Lacey. The road trip was great, Cameron is opening up. You can really see a friendship developing as well. Also things are staring to get steamy for these two. Hot. Then they get to the compound Cameron’s company owns. This is where the story very slowly started to unravel for me. I felt the romance stalled at this point and the relationship pretty much turned completely physical. They tend to ignore each other in public and the moment they are alone Cameron has Lacey naked. Little to no conversation.Cameron just seems to morph into a complete jerk. He knows it, his friends know it, Lacey it knows but she still goes along with it. Until he is so insulting she can’t ignore it any longer. Lacey was a vulnerable character. Young, unskilled, no family and no money. I felt Cameron well and truly had the upper hand here, and sort of used her. It left me with an icky feeling. Look, he does come through in the end. But for me the character damage had been done. The writing was good, and the character development was solid. In fact you spend a lot of time in Lacey and Cameron’s heads. Sometimes a bit too much time. At times I was ready for some action or conversation to move things along. In spite of my gripes I realised I would read another book by this author with the hope she can make a hero a bit more likeable.

Lacey has been on her own since running from a neglected and abusive uncle. Struggling to survive day to day until she can start a new life for herself, she unexpectedly runs into Cameron. Having rescued Lacey from a mugging, Cameron is unprepared for the instinct to protect her that comes over him. Cameron is ex-military, hot intense and feels that he doesn't deserve to be loved and has nothing to offer. Lacey is strong, feisty and used to being on her own. She takes a chance to trust Cameron when he offers her the opportunity to start over with a new life. I really enjoyed Broken Justice. Cameron and Lacey's story is one of surviving harsh situations and overcoming them to take the biggest chance of all...loving each other. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

I was really struggling with this one because of the writing style and that it seems to be told in third person, which I am not use to when reading a book, but then to get to a point where this is there.....Hey, hey,” he murmured, stepping into her personal space. “What’s the frowny face for? It’s really NBD. You’ll hang out in the family area because of security, but you’ll be fine. There are always loads of people and liaison volunteers there. Guaranteed you’ll have a better time than I willThe NBD totally threw me.... and I just can't go on sorry. not for me

M/F. The prologue was so moving and set a high bar for the rest of the book. Unfortunately, there was something missing - almost cold - from the the relationship. Both MCs were hurting and had the potential to empathize, or at least hard sympathize, and comfort each other. But it never happened. They never talked and shared their experiences, thoughts, emotions, wants, desires, etc. to develop a more intimate relationship. DNF because I wasn't getting the expected emotional payout.

Love, love, love this book! Hot and steamy and so very sexy. Cameron and Lacey are a match from the beginning to end and deliciously yummy in between!!I seriously couldn't put this down once I got started reading. Thank you for such a sultry treat :) the author delivers a precise depiction of sex versus lovemaking. I was overwhelmed at the explicit detail of each interlude, almost to the point of blushing!Nothing short of awesome!!!

Broken Justice is the first book in Suzanne Halliday's Justice Brother series and what an introduction to these alpha brothers. This is Cameron and Lacey story and thankfully Cameron's brothers help a guy out. This book is funny, sad, sexy and hot. Don't read this book unless you're willing to get overheated. I highly recommend this book.

Broken Justice (Justice Brothers, #1) by Suzanne Halliday - WOW & WOW! THis book is for those that think their too broken for love! A 5 STAR Stellar book! A must read - presents for your friends, family or donations.I rarely give 5 star ratings. This book by Suzanne Halliday my first book by this author was exceptional. This is a keeper book you can read over n over. Everyone has baggage and working with it or it letting it control you. The female character Lacey is absolutely amazing you cheer her on throughout the book. The main male Change after is Cameron and her makes you want to cheer, slap and scream....yep it's a challenge but worth it. The supporting characters are just as amazing and are influential rather then "support". The story shows their baggage the evolving interaction and some breath taking moments. The difference of hot sexy steam in intimate scenes vs. A sex scene thrown into a story.....absolutely tasteful, intimate and thoughtful not a pre porn segway. The substance in this book was very moving. Has military battle scene n scars and other survival scars. A new author for me and I wasn't too sure too start with but I think it is the start of an interesting series. There was no real action but both main characters had to learn to trust and let go of past trauma in order to move ahead. It was well written and enjoyable. I am certainly going to buy the next book as this one also laid the basis for other characters. They were all very personable and I believe they will make some fascinating stories of their own!

It took me way too long to finish this book, because there’s not really a lot going on... it’s just a silly senseless hot book... if you want to read some hot sex scene, go for it! But if you like a little bit more story to your romance stay away from this book... the writer tried to give some personality to the characters by adding some dark past, but in the end the book didn’t hold my attention at all...

I really loved this book. Cam and Lacey are two people looking for anything that is a better life than they had. Cam has found it with his "brothers" and he introduces Lacey to them... These books are full of sexy men and women and lots of love... I found this book by chance and have come to love the whole series.

I had this book recommended to me and thought it was an RS but it wasn’t. It was ok. I enjoyed it overall but am glad it was KU since it wasn’t what I was expecting. I might go back and read the rest in the series later but for now I’m on a hunt for a good RS series.

insta lust; the heroine has been basically homeless for 5 years (17-22) and yet she can go into an office and immediately know how to do accounting, invoicing, etc and in a matter of days improve on what has been done by a professional?

Skipped half this book out because there was just too much sex on the brain, like literally every page had atleast one long sex thought and it got too annoying after a while ...
