Take Two and Call Me In The Morgue Reviews

EXCERPT: 'Cancer is that company's great money maker. Not the curing of cancer . . . . but the long drawn out, and always costly treatment, and the protection of cancer as a business, cancer as profit.'THE BLURB: Former D.C. politico turned private investigator Frank Bennington is in a race to save the life of his friend. It is a case that opens doors some feel are better left closed, particularly those representing the interests of corporations and their government cohorts earning billions of dollars off of a cure that kills. This is the second installment of the Bennington P.I. series, and will leave readers guessing as to what is truth, and what is fiction - the hallmark of all of D.W. Ulsterman's many best-selling novels. MY THOUGHTS: While I am a great fan of the mystery and murder-mystery genre, I have never been a great fan of the political thriller. But D W Ulsterman's Take Two and Call Me In the Morgue (Bennington #2) manages to blend the two genres perfectly with the medical thriller to create a suspenseful and topical read. But, in my opinion, neither the title nor the bookcover do the book justice. Take Two and Call Me In the Morgue is fast paced and full of scenarios that will make you wonder, as you read, just what is fiction and what is truth? It chronicles corruption, political and corporate, and greed, and after a very satisfying read will leave you wondering. . . .really wondering. An intense drama. Quite frustrating because it is dealing with politics, government agencies, health care and all the fatheads in those fields that think they can play god.A cure for cancer? Possibly, if greed doesn't win over true caring.A wide variety of characters that hold their own. Because they are all unique, it is easy to keep track of who is who.Bennington P.I. is a likeable character. I think the author was trying for an older Myron Bolitar. A sarcastic, irreverent, PI. Being a woman of 58, I can relate to this older Bennington and his aging body and trying to keep up, and yet learning to accept the consequences of growing old.I will be reading more from this author. This title was a free Kindle download.

Frank Bennington is a private investigator fired by the police force. He does consulting work for the Tell the Truth Group and works for Dedra, a former solder, employed by a Congresswoman. His assignment is to find out who is holding up the vote for fast track approval of a new cancer drug. The investigation includes the FDA and their ties to the drup companies. Fast reading, political intrigue and suspense. Really enjoyed this book and will read more by this author. I rated it a 4.3.

I almost didn't read this book. The title or the cover art didn't draw me to it. I read the review and it kind of drew me in as I like a good mystery/crime novel. The more I read the more I was drawn into the characters especially Bennington. I must confess I will read more Ulsterman books. Interested to see where the story and the character goes from here.

Excellent BookThe story is very topical, dealing with the corruption in the relationship between the FDA and drug companies. The action moves along briskly with lots of suspense and surprises. The only reason Iit did not get 5 stars is that at the very end it seemed to drag a little. It actually is a very good and enjoyable book.

Interesting and exciting political/thriller. The odd assortment of characters made for interesting interactions. I plan to read more in this series, as well as some of Mac Walker's. I rated this one 4.7 stars.

I really enjoyed this Mystery. It was a fast moving, gutsy ride through a few days with lots of surprises along the way. It made me laugh and it made me cry and was hard to put down. Because of language and sexual content, its not for under 18.

She's got cancer.Great read with well established characters. Well Bennington takes a to side assignment, and wasn't given the particulars at the time. It wasn't long before he knows the whole story. It becomes a case involving the FDA, Congressman and hitmen. So it becomes a matter of survival not only for his friends, himself but he is also trying desperately to save the life of his boss Well worth the read and once again Mr. Ulsterman hits the mark on the head with our gov't. So we shall read on.

Drug companies, hospitals and cancer.Couldn't go to sleep until I finished reading. This subject drugs, cancer so very close to me, read medical sites and blogs, books. Potentially life saving treatments, hospitals and doctors, our government's role. Billions, trillions drug companies makes and how little money spend over research. How much greed involved in treatment. Yes this book is fiction, but read it and wonder.

Nice ride through the corruption of D.C.This was a great look at the corruption in our nation's capital and the players involved whom think their above the law. Very intriguing story with a premise of how politics and big pharmaceutical companies can prolong life for profit while stalling less expensive life saving treatments.

Political Thriller is an Apt DescriptionThere is no political exposition to bore you. No matter where you are on the political spectrum, you will find plenty to enjoy and plenty to disagree with. The one thing most people in the USA do agree on is that Washington DC is not functioning well. The plot of this book involves the DC power structure in the medical research industry. I do not believe a word of it but it is too plausible to be mere fantasy. If it has not happened yet, it just might tomorrow. This novel series has an engaging, plausible private eye, an ensemble of well drawn characters, and solid writing craft to make it well worth it's price. It is so engrossing that after putting it aside for days, you should have no trouble at all slipping back into the situation and remembering the vivid characters. Finishing this one, I just want to get on to the next in the series.

Bennington P. I by D. W. Ulsterman is a lovely older detective who used to be in politics. In this story he is tasked with finding out who is blocking HB 4221. This bill is supposed to release cancer researchers to try alternative therapies, those therapies not controlled by the big pharmaceutical companies and the government. He eventually discovers the collusion between a lobbiest and the man in charge of pushing the legislation forward. The adventure is how he manages to do it, and the characters helping him accomplish this.I enjoyed this story very much. The character of Bennington, a jaded old school political operative, is one I enjoyed. The settings were well described, and the dialogue was realistic. I give this story five out of five stars and I enjoyed reading it.

EnjoyThis is exactly what you'll do when you open the first page of this novel. Action that has enough twists and turns to keep your wondering what road it will next take. Characters that make you wish you could replace them with yourself at times. A storyline that has a shaky foundation that is the only flaw in an otherwise super great read. This book will definitely take up some of your sleeping hours. Enjoy

A political thriller with all the "bad" guys who are trying to run the world in order to make millions. The theme is centered around a bill to help the innovative cancer treatments become available more quickly. Of course the "bad" guys are making money from the mainstream treatments and don't want the competition.
