Finished this book at 2:30 in the morning. Just like the first one, it's fast-paced and keeps your attention rapt (and your adrenaline pumping, your emotions on edge and your fingers itching to turn the page even when it's past your bedtime.) John, Rachel and Dog jump from frying pan to fire to volcano it seems. I enjoyed the fact that Patton gave us glimpses of what others had witnessed - a chance to see the changing world through the eyes of a secondary character was interesting and welcome!Tomorrow, The Walking Dead comes back on TV and I'm pretty pumped about it. Gotta admit, though, this series appeals to me a little more because some of the more unbelievable aspects of TWD are less insane or preposterous. Starting book 3 later today! Can't wait!

This is ZA horror at its absolute best. Dirk Patton simply is a master of this genre, and i can say this series is proving to be the best i have ever read. Its a non stop adrenaline rush, with the most superb characters, dialogue, and story.

Well, I thought the first one was good, but HOLY CRAP! Picks up exactly where the first one left off so you have to read them in order, but OMG this has got to be the best of the best! It grabs you immediately and doesn't let go, just like a good zombie should! Love the premise, the characters and everything about it. The author lets the story build the characters rather than trying to describe them, and if you look at all the best authors, that's how they do it. The characters just develop over time as you get to know them and by the end of the book you feel they could walk right off the page and come have a beer with you. Semi-spoiler alert: I really like how John is developing as he moves through the apocalypse. In the first book it took him a while to remember and rely on his past training, but he is becoming the real bad-ass he needs to be to keep surviving. Bravo! This series is like crack! I want book 3 now!!!

Crucifixion by Dirk Patton is the second book of the Voodoo Plague series. It is very violent, gorey and rough. It's not for the faint of heart. This book continues with John, Rachel and Dog being rescued and taken to an Air Force base in Kentucky. John is called back to active duty with the rank of Captain but the Colonel gives him a field promotion to major. He's given a mission to report to Fort Campbell and get a helicopter to Arizona to get 2 scientist who have been working for an antidote for the infected. Before that can happen there is a second wave of people becoming infected. They start to evacuate the base. A huge plane lands as they busily clean the runway of the infected. Everyone gets into the jet while a helicopter hovers in the air to pick up John, Rachel and dog. Several infected females run into the runway behind the jet and get sucked up into the engines. The plane explodes knocking the rescue helicopter to the ground. Everyone is killed. John races to the armory and loads the humvee with all the weapons munitions and meals he can fit. They take off abandoning the base. This is only a taste of the action packed into this book. Read to see what else happens.

John, Rachel and Dog are back with another trip through horrors the likes of which most people aren't built to survive. The infected have a stranglehold on the world that the living despair of ever being able to break, especially when some of their fellow breathers turn up the crazy to levels that are nearly impossible to believe.Book two carries us on another journey that keeps us turning pages, hoping and praying that this doesn't happen in the real world. I can't wait to see what happens in book three although I've said it before and I'm saying it again - If Dog dies we riot! \m/

OMG! Couldn't get any better! Crucifixion picks up where Voodoo Plague ended. It was so seamless, you would have thought it was one story. Dog is awesome! John is who I would want to save me if I was in trouble and Rachel makes the perfect sidekick/partner. For some reason, I want to see them together but John is adamant about getting to his wife Katie. Can't wait to see if they are reunited. Is she okay? Was she infected? I can't wait for the third book.

Awesome. Just as good as the first book which is saying something. It is non-stop action, and you start to wonder if this guy is ever going to get a break. The villians in this book are scary because they are so real. Great Book. Read It!

Ridiculously improbable. Not even ten percent in, and I'm already rolling my eyes. John has security clearance that is even higher than the ranking CO on the base, but Rachel is allowed in a top secret briefing with John? And no-one questions this? Then, to top it off, she's allowed to be kitted out as if she were a soldier and permitted to go on this super secret, dangerous assignment? She's a freaking stripper for crying out loud!! Sorry, this highly unlikely, ridiculously improbable storyline is just too farfetched for me. Book one was already ott; book two just takes the cake even from the first few chapters. There's no way I'd be able to schlog through eight or nine books of this cheesy series.

Damn...I'm almost speechless and I don't know what quite to say. Hell of a ride. The ending of this one, Book 2, was devistating... Just as it was meant to be. Now I've got to hurry on to book 3!

Mind BlownI am an avid fan of apocalypse books and there's only one other author who has sucked me in and has made me want to stay up all night to continue reading and find out what happens...holy cow...I LOVE THIS SERIES! Bravo Mr. Patton!

Violence out the wazoo and yet you can't help wondering what will be hapening next. You couldn't expect any more from the hero and heroine even if they were James Bond and Wonder Woman. They are like the Energizer Bunny that just keeps on going and going in spite of what happens.

Great read... I'll read the next book but I am afraid it is going to be just more of the same; run and fight. I had to stop reading just to take a breath and rest. I don't know how the characters keep going. They are starting to seem like SuperPeople.

Another indestructible killing machine guy in the ZAIt's a shame Patton went down this road with the Plague Book series. The books are very well written, the plots are enjoyable with plenty of twists and turns, and he's got some new takes on the Zombie Horde. But the characters are simply unbelievable. Protagonist John Chase is an expert battle planner and an expert on any weapon he comes across. He is able to put down thousands of the infected and kill any force of men arrayed against him. He rarely misses a shot and engages in regular wrestling matches with the super-strengthed infected and always wins. And if things are turning against him his side kick, The Stripper With The Heart of Gold, is there to save his bacon. She was only stripping to pay her way through med school, of course, and after one afternoon on the firing range is a can't miss weapons expert herself. This story, written with regular people or even realistically written soldiers, would be a five star book. With the cartoon characters Patton has written it's three stars at best. I'd like to read further into the series to see if the characters become a little more life like, but nothing I've read so far indicates to me that's going to happen.

OK, I really did like the book and the characters ( love Dog!) and I do want to know what happens in the end, so I will probably read the third book, at some time....but...When you say a book is non-stop action it is usually a good thing. Here, I would venture, it is not. The action here is SO nonstop that there is never any time taken to develop the characters any further. I know no more about John and Rachel than I did after the first book. I love an action packed story, but for me, a good story must also be a journey, along with the characters, getting to know them, a bonding, so that I care about what happens to them. I read the first book quickly, enjoying the ride and looking forward to the next. This book was easy to put down and pick back up at my leisure. I even read another in between. Well, I'll read the last book, but it won't be on my must-read list.

Extremely well writtenAgainst my better judgement and loathing for all books written with zombies, undead etc in them, you have hooked me with your excellent story line and cast of characters... I read the first book out of desperation for something new to read and quickly found myself immersed and anticipating the next book. Having read thousands of books, I can safely say that this author is well on par with another favorite of mine, Mr. Dean Koontz. The details of the story and characters immediately suck you in and have you anticipating what happens next!!!!!! Thank you Mr. Patton, I am very impressed with your writing and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next book.

An excellent second book to the 'V Plague' series by Dirk Patton. As John Chase continues to try to get home to his wife, the waves of infected keep showing up in his, Rachel's, and Dog's way! This book picks right up where the first book ended and the action does not stop! The obstacles, the hurdles, and the danger made this book another "one-sitting" read. I could not put it down. The writing flows and the banter between survivors is extremely amusing....not to mention John's Army-viewpoint on the other branches of the military. Another great book and I'm looking forward to starting the third book, 'Rolling Thunder' soon!

John is recalled to active duty and immediately field promoted to Major. John still needs to find his wife. The conversation in book two says she was visiting in Los Angeles, the summary says she was in Arizona. (?) Rachel is still tagging along since she and John have been saving each others lives recently. Not sure how that will play with the wife if/when they do get together. Book two chronicles John & Rachel’s experiences with undead, religious zealots, and other survivors trying to protect their town as they journey towards Arizona. Good action, good characters; I’m looking forward to book three.

I know I swore I would never do it again, but I can't help it. I'm powerless over, nay I was powerless over zombie apocalypse novels. This self-published nightmare put me over the edge though. I think it was the two times where lose was used for loose and the other two times where every was written where ever would have been the correct word. This I cannot tolerate. And like all epic zombie tales so too did this piece spin off on grandiose, nearly impossible threads. This might have even ruined Robert Kirkman for me. Except, of course for Walking Dead #24 which comes out this month, but then I'm done for good. I meally rean it this time.

Wow! Ok so I forgot to leave a review for the first book but I will get to it. Book 1 and 2 finished in 4 days. I was a bit worried that it be too much male ego from the main character but thank god I have it a shot. This ending was so hard and shit got real, real fast. Damn good read! I recommend it to anyone. This story takes you slow then fat then hardcore. Lives overcome some bad and then there are losses that can't be helped. But fight they must and bravery at every corner. I do love Dog but I'm scared that his character may not last, please let me be wrong! I love animals. Next book 3! I'm hooked

John Chase and Rachel have escaped to a military base but their trouble does not end there, after a series of events the pair are running for their lives again. The three main characters, Rachel, John and Dog, are still brilliant but the author adds more characters though they come and go I would like John's group to be added to. The autor has a way of keeping people transfixed to his books and I absolutely loved the second one. Bought it as soon as I finished the first.I would like to see more happier endings for other characters, obviously I don't want to spoil too much but if the story keeps going John and Rachel will be the only two people alive.

Even Better the Second Time. I decided to re read my favorite series to catch things,I missed and to enjoy great writing. I love this series even more this 2nd time. The characters seem more alive. Starting at the beginning gives new insight to future events. I fell in love with Dog all over again. Would love a story about his life at the start of the apocalypse. Thank you Dirk Patton for a,wonderful adventure to escape reality. Also love your strong female characters in this series.

V plagueHonestly, A viral plague created by WW II America and China, believable. The Tn acts and traditions of being what they are, personally having grown up in roughly the same area I find it rather refreshing to see both sides of the coin. The people that even we consider nuts, and what amounts to a facsimile of normal. Characters are more fleshed out. I found this author in an end of the world book pack, and I'm happy I read the first so I could find the rest.

Amazing Chase, Rachel, & Dog need a damn break from this apocalypse. "The Battle of Murfreesboro" was outstanding even though the end of it had much to be desired. I feel compassion for, not only the main characters but the secondary ones as well. Dirk Patton does a wonderful job narrating the intestinal fortitude & self-sacrifice as well as the dirty, underbelly of people in times of crisis. I'm starting the next one now.

WOW !!! FIVE stars is NOT enough !This is the second book I've read by this author. I am so happy to have found such awesome work! This was truly a thrilling ride. The first and second books in this series have been real page turnovers. I have no doubt that the rest of the series will be equally as fun to read. A little blood, A little fun, A LOT OF THRILL !!! AND characters you will come to care about !

I was hoping the pace would slow down in the second book and a little more of the underlying story would be revealed. But the story continued at record speeds, with lots of opportunities for guns, explosives and other creative weapons. The incredible number of massive challenges that the main characters faced and overcame just became ridiculous. I won't be moving onto the third book.

Another Fantastic Read! The furious pace continues. This story, like the first, is action packed. One of the things that makes it great is the creativity. No scene is like any other. This uniqueness keeps the story interesting, as the reader moves from one perilous scene to the next. One of the best series available.

This series ruled an entire weekend of my life. I scarcely did anything other than read. Suffice to say, I 100% recommend. As an avid reader of this genre, this series is easily one of the top three. (And I've read over 100 z-poc novels, thanks to my Kindle addiction, so top 3 is saying something!)

I'm not sure I can make it through all six. I probably will but I'll feel guilty that I'm not reading something wholesome or educational. Like eating donuts. Also, I need to see if the main character ever takes a nap. As far as I can tell, the only time he sleeps in this book is when he's crucified.
