I received Fissure in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR promotions. Baxter sixteenth birthday was far from what she had expected and it鈥檚 changed her life in ways she couldn鈥檛 even imagine. Thrust into a world where time is not just a number Baxter will have to learn to control her ability, as well as figure out her place within the councils. Only it鈥檚 never that simple when especially when you鈥檙e a Time Bender which is a really rare gift. When a relative tries to claim her for the New York council who are more of the dark side of the spectrum Baxter is torn staying where she should or go with him. However she won鈥檛 have to choose when she finds a fissure that pulls her though time she finds herself running into someone she though she lost long ago. He also has a deep dark secret that may just change how she feels about him. Plus she鈥檚 on the run from her uncle who is determined to have her abilities even if they have to absorb them from her. Baxter is going to have to figure out a way home without getting caught by her uncle. She will needs to save Jake, and figure out how to fix the war that has been started.I really enjoyed Baxters character in the first book and I feel she just keeps getting better in this one. She鈥檚 one of those characters you can connect with, her life isn鈥檛 easy but she鈥檚 doing her best. Plus she鈥檚 kind of kick ass which is another reason I enjoy her story. I like Jack but I鈥檓 not sure how I feel about them being connected as healer and Time bender but I as the book progressed I liked it more. We have a whole new selection of characters in the new chapter of Baxter鈥檚 life some I liked others not so much but I鈥檒l let you decide.I found Fissure captivating right from the start I was drawn into Baxter鈥檚 story as it continues from the first book. The author has taken the time travel concept but put her own unique spin, creating a whole world for Baxter full of beings that go bump in the night. Fissure is an action packed mixture of paranormal, mystery, secrets, and good vs evil. I like the idea that everyone has their own unique abilities some defensive and other offensive it keeps the characters fascinating. I feel like the author did a great job creating characters we can connect with and I was cheering her own through the book. Baxter is one of my favorite characters in fiction she's unique but I just can't seem to get enough of her. Like the first book Fissure is a well written story, one that flows from start to finish I was easily drawn in losing all track of time. My only complaint is that I don鈥檛 have the next one, and have to wait to see what鈥檚 going to happen to Baxter next. This is one of my favorite must read series if you like the paranormal I highly suggest you check it out.

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.I just finish reading this book and I love it. Love the characters and love how the book turned out to be. I am gone keep this short, and I am gone write the review for the two books, this one and the second book (Fissure) since I read both books one right after the other one, I have to say that I am not to much into paranormal, but I do love to read a good paranormal book, and this one is one of this.BOOK 1The story begging with Baxter, she is about to turned sixteen, her family move into her stepfather parents house, after they lost their house in a fire, now they live in a farm in the middle of nowhere, she is bore, with no phone and no internet, when she goes to the family room she notice that her mom is playing with the baby. when she ask for her stepfather they tell her that his outside, when she walk outside where is cold and snowing, she has a little chat with her stepfather, before they walk in they notice a car driving by, Baxter found that weird, when she when in side the house, things started to get more weird she thought she was losing her mind. That's when their was a knock at the door, that was the day that would change her life. And her world will wind of chaos because two boys brothers, each one wants something from her and she is not so sure she can deliver. First Baxter has find out what it is that Jack and Declan want from her, and then decide if she will do it. Jack is the sexy flirt and Declan is the bad boy broader but when it comes to helping Baxter is a natural helper and she will do whatever it takes to help them out.BOOK TWO FissureThe story begging with Baxter, being at the hospital where Jack is healing, after surviving the battle on her sweet sixteen, Jack found her with broken bone and hurt, he decide to heal her to the point of exhaustion, Baxter remember what she had to do which it was to free Declan, but she don't remember the fall that she took, now she has some memories loss and that's making her to be angry all the time, now she is wondering the lesson that she has learn, that include death, betrayal, lies, and the most reason one is anger, all she wants is to have her normal life back, but she cant have that, now that she find out that their is, bad blood between the New York and English councils, and Jack has gone missing, and her mental connection to him seems cut, and on the other end the veil between the non-magical and the Magical Beings has been shredded, and the humans do not stand a chance against the powers of those who would end their existence. Would she find Jack and would they win this battle.I really love and enjoy reading this series, love the new characters, and cant wait to read more of this series, Author Marilyn Almod贸var THANK YOU for INTRODUCING ME TO THIS AWESOME CHARACTERS AND THIS GREAT SERIES LOVE IT.

Sometimes authors suffer from Sucktastic Sequel Syndrome, where the second book doesn鈥檛 quite live up to the first. But in Marilyn鈥檚 case, I think, Fissure is even better than Interred.Baxter is still reeling over some pretty traumatic events that happened in the first book, but she鈥檚 doing her best to cope. Torn between the English Council, who takes care of her, and the New York Council, where her uncle wants her to reside, Baxter doesn鈥檛 have time (no pun intended) to weigh her options, as she鈥檚 pulled into a fissure. What awaits her on the other side鈥攐r who, I should say鈥攊s pretty shocking, in my opinion. Will Baxter find a way to return to the present, or will she be stuck in the past?Overall, I enjoyed this book much more than the first. It starts out a bit slow, but once the action starts, readers are in for an exciting ride. I also like the relationship between Baxter and Jack. Those two are adorable together, and their connection is not over-the-top. Marilyn鈥檚 done a great job creating this world, so if you鈥檙e looking for the next paranormal adventure with just a hint of romance, be sure to pick up the first book in this series, Interred, as well as a copy of its sequel, Fissure.**ARC received from AToMR Promotions in exchange for an honest review

In this second book we provide more twists and a significant change in the history of Baxter, we have more action.Without leaving aside what had already been achieved with the first book, the author fills us with more intrigue mystery, emotion and of course the occasional funny moment with Baxter and his sarcasm. The characters we already knew in the first book, evolucionarion gradually and significantly. And new characters take their position to go deeper into the world and fight against the enemy.I loved the book, I definitely like it light, and keep the line work on the first book, but evolve in a meaningful way. The creation of this world and its characters is very clear and well maintained. It is a YA book you should add it to your wish list for reading.P.S. I am waiting the 3rd bookBLOG: ALL THINGS IN THE CLOUD SWEET

If you read interred and enjoyed it, you'll definitely love this one. Marilyn Almodovar outdid herself on Fissure. It's got a great plot, well developed characters. Sure sometimes you want to slap sense into Baxter, but Jack is still amazing. and the new characters are intriguing. Fissure pulls you in and you never want to put it down. The end well definitely leave you wanting more! I highly recommend this. For you moms out there, it's definitely appropriate for your teen!

Fissure by Marilyn Almod贸varBook #2: Chronicles of the InterredSource: PurchaseRating: 4/5 stars**Contains spoilers for book one, Interred**Fissure, round two of the Chronicles of the Interred opens dramatically and just shortly after the ending of Interred. The dramatic, decisive and, seriously ugly battle at the end of Interred has left Baxter with chunks of her memory completely gone, her healer, Jack in the hospital fighting for his life, her family dead and, a growing sense of distrust regarding everyone in her life. Additionally, Baxter is still trying to come to terms with the fact that she is THE time bender, the one everyone wants to control, protect or kill. Finally, there is the small matter of Baxter鈥檚 powers growing almost exponentially. In an effort to save herself and those she cares for, Baxter has done a considerable amount of time travelling and the consequences of those actions are starting to appear. With little to guide her, Baxter has relied on her instincts and a few close and trusted friends to help her make decisions; decisions that have altered not just the past but the present and future as well. The world is a mess and the remaining members of the English Council are doing all they can to protect Baxter and her powers. Chaffing at the confinement and her lack of ability to help, Baxter begins to hatch plans that will right the wrongs of both the past and the present. To do so, she will need every bit of her strength and an expanded willingness to trust. As with Interred, Fissure is packed full of information, events and, characters. In fact, this character-driven read is so packed with faces 鈥 new and old 鈥 that I had to make myself a list. Here鈥檚 the skinny, in alphabetical order:Aaron: an incredibly powerful Time Bender whose two missions in life (and other lives) include protecting Baxter and killing every incarnation of Declan.Andrew: Baxter鈥檚 dad who is ALIVE and well and living in 1974. Andrew is a powerful being with time bending (wait till you find out how he got those powers!), absorbing and, necromancer powers. Annabel: one seriously bad-a*& chick; she is Moira鈥檚 daughter, Jack鈥檚 half-sister, Nicholas鈥檚 girlfriend and the only female Warrior.Bryan: Baxter鈥檚 uncle and brother to Andrew; there is truly nothing in the world I can say about this character that is even remotely close to nice. You鈥檒l hate him too, don鈥檛 worry 飦奃are: Sister to Zachary and long-time friend to Baxter though Baxter cannot recall their friendship; Dare is fierce and loyal with some awesome Elemental abilities. She is Xavier鈥檚 girlfriend.Declan: Yes, that rat bastard is still around and his intentions are less than honorable in every timeline he is a part of. Jack: Baxter鈥檚 healer and boyfriend depending on the timeline. Jack鈥檚 a Warrior with a fierce loyalty to Baxter; he is the half sibling of Annabel and like her, always willing to put his life on the line.Nicolas: a French Warrior assigned to be Baxter鈥檚 guardian in the absence of her parents. He is Annabel鈥檚 boyfriend and once all Hell breaks loose, sides with the English Council and never abandons his post as Baxter鈥檚 guardian.Xavier: a Lycan with some seriously cool Elemental powers; boyfriend to Dare.Zachary: brother to Dare and Baxter鈥檚 boyfriend depending on the timeline. Zachary is likely a true blue character but some of his actions are a bit sketchy. To say that the cast of characters is extensive doesn鈥檛 really come close. The above list is partial and necessary since many of the characters appear in multiple timelines and as older and/or younger versions of themselves. This is a strong cast but with so many people in so many places and times, I often found it difficult to keep track of everyone. Additionally, there is a ton of action in this read: portals are constantly being opened and characters being sucked in, characters are dying (or not!), Baxter is constantly taking in new information about the past, present and future and, everything is changing at every turn of the page. The Bottom Line: While I still certainly enjoyed this read I also found it a bit frustrating. I鈥檓 a pretty astute reader and can follow a lot of wonkiness but there is just so much going on in this read with so many different people and events that I found myself somewhat frustrated. Keeping track of the constantly shifting plans due to new information gathered from older/younger characters in various timelines became tedious at some point and I found myself having to slow down, re-read and shift through a lot of information to be sure I understood. Does this mean I am done with this series? Hell no!! I am drawn to character-driven reads and this series is certainly that but, I do sincerely hope that some of the things that frustrated me with this read will be resolved in later reads.

Fissure is the second book of The Chronicles of the Interred. As far as second books go, I have to give Marilyn major props for making this book even better than the first. This book is such a rush. I could not stop reading this book once I started it. This book is action packed. Baxter leads us right in to a journey of self discovery into the past and the present. This is not a standalone, It would be much too confusing for someone to pick up the series with this book. You should read the first book, Interred. Once again this cover is perfect for the book. It shows her running out of a fissure, or something. There is so much jumping around in this book; 2013, 1976, 2001, alternate realities galore. Baxter starts off in this story feeling bad. She doesn鈥檛 remember what happened before there is just a blank spot and then she wakes up in the hospital. She may be the cause of all the chaos which makes her want to leave. Instead of keeping her head down, she freezes her healer. This further separates her from the group. They are trying to protect her, but the group is infiltrated by people with malicious intentions for her powers anyways. Baxter finds herself face to face with a fissure and gets pulled in鈥ow that we know the characters this book just flows. Baxter is still discovering things about her past, things about her power, and things about the people in her world. Baxter is much different from the first book though. She is all magic, the normal in her life is gone. I loved that everyone is not just good and evil. We find that some characters are marred by shades of grey and that makes Baxter question everything. I liked that flaws are revealed. This keeps the characters honest and likeable. There is so much more in this book then in the first. The main players are time bender, absorbers, warriors and transporters. These abilities are flipped and exposed for good and evil. There are a lot of players in this book. That aspect was a bit confusing. I know why the story needed so many characters. The story could have been so much longer. I don鈥檛 wish for less. I wanted more. The author wrote all the characters very well. It was just when something happens that we only get to see how a few characters are dealing. We only get snippets of conversation. I wanted more. I am giving this book 4/5 stars; because it is not a standalone and because there could be more to it. It is still a recommended read for any YA fan of fantasy.Alternate is the conclusion to this series and it is due out in 2015. To be honest, I can hardly wait to read it. I need more of this world. I want to know how(in which timeline) Baxter ended up. I just hated that it ended on cliffhanger, but it makes me more eager to look for the next book. I need closure to this series.

After Interred I was eager to get my hands on this book and as I never doubted Lyn did not let me down, it amazes me how she can write a book crossing many timelines and not get lost in what she as wrote not only that the but myself as a reader doesn't get lost either, and that says a lot as I have no sense of direction.Baxter is back and is as snarky as ever and I love her for it, I hope she never changes. we also have the swoony and hunky Jack, he is another of my book boyfriends.Baxter's journey in this book really as her questioning everything she thought she knew about the people she trusted. her boundaries are pushed and she will do things she can never be proud of and deeply regrets but self preservation is at the utmost of her mind if she wants to protect those she loves.New characters are introduced in this book and I don't want to give anything away but it throws Baxter for a loop and not much can do that. We also have some of the same beloved (or not) characters from the first book and as Baxter evolve so do their, I think the way Lyn builds characters is amazing you really do feel like you know them... until you don't, they may not make a lot of sense but instead of reading my ramblings you could read the book yourself and find out what I mean.As in the first book, I still love David, not in the swoony way because he is an elderly gent and that would be just weird, lol but I love him because he is Yorkshire like yours truly ;-)I could quite literally scream at Lyn for the ending in fact I may have wrote he strongly worded email, however I cannot wait for the third book and hope I don't have to long to wait.

I am quite torn for this book. On one side, I really Iiked the story. I found it original, with unexpected twists and without limits (multiple timeline, world). Baxter was a nice character, always ready and funny. I loved her references to supernatural or doctor who.Her couple with Jack was very cute. But on the other side, all of this was a little untidy, vague. 1- there was too many characters (moira, David, morgan1-2.., baxter old and new, jack, zachary, dare, anabel, xavier, aaron, her dad, nicholas, Declan, bryan...) which could be a good thing if we had enough informations about them (more than their names or abilities). Because when they were in danger I didn't feel anxious for them because I didn't really care.2- the universe of the book is very rich, there is so many directions the author can take (alternate world, another timeline), but in here I just found it confusing. They were moving so fast, 2013-1974-2001... 3- (probably just me and my english level) I found the sentences (sometimes) very confusing. I had the feeling, throughout my reading, to be lost quite a few time in the actions of the characters. I read other books in English (a song of ice and fire..) and it was the first time that I felt lost, confused so many time. Conclusion: I like it most of the time. And I would recommend it to people who wants to read something different.(Sorry for the possible mistakes and thanks to the author for her book).
