Book Blurb:STOKEDThe second, compelling episode in the Going the Distance series. He never believed in love at first sight until he fell….At the beginning of the summer, former Olympic hopeful Tyler Smith was knocked off his feet by Jess Donovan. Read about how they met in RANDOM.Coming in May: EPICComing in September: BRILLIANTMy Review:Stoked is Tyler Smith's view point of his and Jess's story. From Tyler's court appearance to his bid to make it on the Olympic snow boarding team, we follow Tyler and Jess's long distance relationship with their Skypes and emails. When contact is difficult another competitor enters the game. Will Tyler make the team but loose in the game of love?Stoked made me want to hit the slopes and rail...not in a snow boarding way. I wanted to shake Tyler for his secrets and make him open up to the woman he loves. Tyler's struggles with his past, his future and his feelings. O'Neal packs an emotional punch with Stoked, giving us the flip side to Jess's point of view. This is a captivating story that will invest you emotionally as well as intensely in the character's plight.I received this copy of Stoked from Patchwork Press in exchange for a honest review. This book was published Feb. 19, 2014.

Holy cow! This may have been one little novella but it was packed with so much emotion, I don't know how it contained it all. Actually, I don't know how I contained it all. I laughed and I cried and I cheered Tyler on and then I wanted to smack Jess in the face and kick Tyler in the behind all at the same time. I admit, at one point I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room. Glad I didn't cause the ending of this little story just had me grinning ear to ear. And I cannot wait for Epic, the next in the series. As always, I love Lark O'Neal, who is absolutely at the top of my Must Read List. She had me feeling the wind on my face, coming eye to eye with a Mountain Lion and feeling the aches that come from a day on the slopes. I loved Tyler's POV, loved watching him try to come to terms with himself and figure out his long distance relationship with Jess. Mostly I just loved Tyler, so so much! I haven't felt so in love with a character in a long time and I felt so sad when this awesome book came to an end. I don't usually reread, but I see this one going on my keeper shelf to be read again when I need a Tyler fix.

Review included in my Week in Review at Lives and Breathes Book Blog.3.5 starsApparently I liked Random Going the Distance 1 enough to read more. I decided to go ahead and read Tyler's novella. I wanted to see something through his eyes and I'm glad I did. Stoked made me see Tyler in a slightly different light. I like him more now and his dedication for his sport. Although, I would still like more on his history. I really want details of his past and his relationship with his family. I feel like that is all glossed over, but it's the past that makes him how he is so knowing what he's been through would make me understand him more. Again, O'Neal writes in way that draws you in and keeps you interested. I am intrigued to see where things go now for both Tyler and Jess. The ending feels very up in the air, which I like. I can see the story going in several different directions which makes me anxious for the next in the series. ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I received a copy of Stoked in exchange for a fair and honest review from Netgalley! In the middle of Olympic fever (which I had, big time!) I saw this title on netgalley and requested – not really having a clue what it was about, other than an Olympic snowboarder!I was hooked from the first paragraph and read this novella quickly! (Although I definitely recommend grabbing the predecessor, Random, because I was so lost for a bit! And after reading, I am just intrigued!)I fell in love with Tyler. In just a few short chapters it is apparent that he has many levels! And we have only caught a small glimpse of him!Jess? I am not so sure about! I just downloaded Random on my kindle, so hopefully I can get a better feel for her ASAP!But the glimpse into the world of an Olympic hopeful is what really made this story fantastic to me! The work, the talent, the skill – even the money! It’s phenomenal! This novella leaves on a huge cliffhanger, and book 2 (Epic) is out in may! I can’t wait!

I have to say that I enjoyed reading this story, well spin off really. But I enjoyed reading it from Tyler's point of view, how his mind worked and what he felt and well his true determination to show everyone including himself he wasn't afraid to try and find a way back to being who he was. I loved his trepidation at first and watching his confidence in his boarding gradually become more and more, his determination to get back into something he completely forgot how much he loved was amazing to read you felt the love he showed and that takes a lot for an author to make their audience feel the characters emotions.

Recently , I finished the book Tyler’s Story;Stoke by Lark O’Neal , which is the second book in the Going the Distance saga. Lark write’s with passion as she basically describes herself as a character. In this book , she take’s the story from a different side of view. Former Olympic wannabe Tyler was kicked off his feet by Jess Donavan. She was everything from perfect. The total opposite image of the luxury Tyler had grown up in. She was beautiful but completley broke. Tyler know’s he has messed up .I know in prior relationships ,having screwed up own aspects of my past. He may not be able to fix all the trouble that lies before him.Tyler then finds himself in unusual situations.Things kept me enthralled from that point. Jess found out a big secret that Tyler was keeping from her . He was going to Chile. I get Tyler’s POV , and i see why he had kept it from her , but honestly it wasn’t a big deal. She was too upset from this point to hear any of what Tyler had to say. He wanted to become a changed man. She should respect that, but otherwise not. The sadness might not be because of Tyler afterall, it might be from a guy named Kaleb which she formally met earlier in the season. Through the whole book it really felt like she was trying to push him away. To each book I learned though , is a cliffhanger. In the book Lark was trying to posses to view of the relationship from both sides. Yes, he is completely in love with her, but maybe he’s better off without her. Lark lets us know that some things are unfixable. A relationship is fragile once broken , and sometime’s taking time apart does not help things. Full of lessons and overcoming challenges that later teen’s and Twentys sometimes face.I felt like this book is just packed with emotion , and everything right from wrong. Relationship twist and turns, and break up's to a never ending question to if they’re going to stay together. I like the book because many people can relate Jess’s standpoint to where she doesn’t trust the person she’s with after he’s done so wrong. It’s hard and mostly impossible to regain that connection once held. I recommend this book to someone who like’s drama , and a mix of confusion. This book was defiantly a breath of fresh air in the series. However before you read this book I want the viewer to understand that the things happening in the book are real life event’s that can happen to anybody. It’s full of anger and despair , and doe’s contain some foul language.

I received this book from NetGalley and when I requested it I had no idea that it was actually the second 'episode' in the series (I didn't read what the book was about which is why). Only when I received the book did I notice that it was actually part two. I did not have part one and I did not know where I could buy it from so I decided to just start with part two. Normally this might be confusing as you might not know what is happening but the book was structured and written in such a way that had I not known it was part two, I wouldn't have even realised. It was so well written and so interesting. I absolutely love Tyler and kept wondering, throughout the book, where I could find a Tyler of my own. He is a very complex character and there is so much about him that is worthwhile learning. There were a lot of references to snowboarding that I didn't get as I have never snowboarded before in my life (I have never even seen snow!). However, I felt as though they were described well enough for me to be able to picture what was happening even though my snowboarding knowledge is non-existent. The book ended on a cliff-hanger while not being a cliff-hanger at the same time. All I know is that I absolutely cannot wait for the next part to come out because I need to read it! I would definitely recommend this book.Blog post: http://kirstyhoggons.wordpress.com/20...

***I recieved an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.***It was a real roller coaster :) After the first chapter I thought I should stop, I couldn't understand what's happening? And then I realized it's not really the first book... At the beginning of the summer, former Olympic hopeful Tyler Smith was knocked off his feet by Jess Donovan. The two found a rare and rich connection, but in a moment of bad judgment, Tyler nearly broke it all to pieces, forcing Jess to make a decision that would take her far away from him—and maybe build a brilliant new life for herself. Now he has a second chance to win her love...This book is Tyler's POV. He struggled from his past and with his feelings. He needed to open up for Jess. I love Tyler, he is really a good character and I need to read the first book to know a bit more about Jess.I have to mention that the cover is beautiful, I adore it!!And not forget about that damn cliff-hanger:)) Can he shed his demons and become the man she deserves?More urgently, can he do it in time? Because there might be another guy who would like to be Jess’s one and only...

Let me just put this out there. The first chapter had things going a little iffy for me. I was not sure I would continue on, but the kids are sleep and I had some quiet time. On I went.Tyler knows that he has messed up. He knows that he may not be able to fix the trouble he has gotten himself into or keep the girl he wants. This story all turns around when Tyler finds himself in court and the unusual goings on that take place. From that point on things kept me enthralled. I went forward with renewed hope that I would find a story after all.I found a story and a story that I will need to go back an read so that I will be read for the future stories to come. There are few hiccups with word usage, but the overall picture is not destroyed.O'Neal has gained herself a new reader. And Tyler has a new fan, he earned big points in that last stand for himself. I have already order book 1(Random) in this series. I have had a glimpse at epic and look forward to its release later this year. Thanks, Net Galley.

This was a well-written, enjoyable story. This novella is the second story in the Going the Distance series. It's written from Tyler's point of view. Tyler Smith met Jess Donovan in the first book and fell in love. But in a moment of bad judgment he did something stupid and may have lost her. Jess has gone to New Zealand to spend time with the dad she hasn't seen for many years. Tyler wants to give Jess space to let her figure out what she wants in life, and he wants to improve himself to become a better man. The series began with the book Random, and continues after this novella with the book Epic. This story really helped me understand Tyler's character. I received a copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review.

I was pretty excited to read "Stoked", as "Random" was one of my Top Ten New Adult Contemporary Reads from one of my Top Ten Tuesday posts. I really enjoyed getting a look inside Tyler's mind and getting his point of view of some of the events from "Random". But "Stoked" also carries on the story of Tyler and Jess, even though Jess is now in New Zealand and their relationship is somewhat undefined. In "Random", I was a little unsure as to Tyler's motivations as far as Jess was concerned - did he really love her, or was he just playing her. Now, after reading "Stoked", I felt that Jess was being a bit hard on him, and not forgiving enough. So now I'm conflicted. But I am definitely "Stoked" to read "Epic"!

This novella is the second installment in Tyler and Jess' story, though it primarily focuses on Tyler. In book one of the Going the Distance series we saw Jess and Tyler's first days together. They fell in love quickly, but in doing so failed to take the necessary steps to ensure their relationship would stand the test of time. Tyler has a past, and it has caught up to him. And in this follow up story we get to see how far Tyler will go to save himself from his past mistakes and change himself into a man worthy of Jess' love.

*I received a complimentary e-book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review* After reading a chapter or two, I felt pretty confused about what was happening and then realized that this isn't the first book of the series. Oops! I kept reading anyway since the story drew me in. Even though I thought the plot was decently entertaining, I couldn't really connect with the characters but this may have been due to the fact I didn't read the first book. Overall I enjoyed it and I will more than likely read the rest of the series. 3.5/5

I really liked the first book, I read it beginning to end in one sitting. Of course I had to read Tyler's story. I'm a little nervous about the next book. I didn't love this one because it was weird to read about them being apart after they were always together. I'm about to start Epic and I hope it goes well. Please let it be good, please let it be good, pLease let it be good.

I’ve read the other books in this series, so it was interesting going back and reading this story which takes place between books #1 & #2. This book was told from Tyler Smith’s point of view after Jess has left for New Zealand. I’m not sure if I like this character more, but would like to know how things turn out for him eventually. Thanks to the Inner Circle for the copy of this book.

I liked this something extra to Tyler's story. I think his character arc is really well done. It can't be easy to come through all the things he's done. It was interesting to see everything from his POV and then move on to Epic and see the same time through Jess's eyes. Great companion to the series.

**ARC provided via NetGalley for an honest review**I had a really hard time connecting this book. I was a huge fan of Random but just could not get it to Stoked and found myself bored and skimming most of the book. Perhaps it was just because it was from his point of view, so I'm not giving up on the series and will definitely give the next book a chance.

This was great insight into Tyler's side of the story for the next leg of their relationship journey. And helped me to understand why he didn't tell Jess about snowboarding. I don't agree with his withholding, but, I see where he's coming from.
