Can they overcome the treacherous obstacles set before them? Jax Christensen likes his life just the way it is. He doesn’t talk about the past, as there is no point in reminiscing about things that cannot be altered. His chest has an empty hole where his heart used to be, but he’s grown accustomed to the constant pain. It’s become the only thing that reminds Jax that he’s alive. Emily Weiss has never forgotten the one and only man she’s ever loved. She has information that could destroy the United Nations. Unfortunately, they want to eliminate her first. Emily’s exhausted and wants more than anything to feel safe once more. That was how she felt in Jax’s strong arms and she longs to be there again. When Jax sees that Emily has risen from the grave, his heart and soul are full of anger and regret. He’ll never forgive her lies and deception. He will, however, keep her safe. He hates her for what she’s done, but he doesn’t want her death on his conscience. He’ll protect her and then walk away. Secrets are revealed and the danger is more sinister and deadly than anyone could have guessed. Jax and Emily are forced on the run and the passion they once felt for one another burns even hotter and brighter the second time around. Jax and Emily. I liked this much more than the first in this series. There were still some problems with editing that others have mentioned. But I've kind of developed a habit of overlooking editing errors as long as they're not too bad. I still got irritated at the use of the word 'for' to explain reason. I've accepted it at this point though and promise not to bring it up again. But I can't promise not to roll my eyes and grumble under my breath when I run across it again. This story pulled me in more than the first. I liked the idea of Emily's past and was definitely surprised with Jax's role in everything. There were more surprises along the way which is probably why I stayed engaged. Also why I'll continue on in the series. I want to know what happens. 3.5 stars because while I liked the book, the editing was distracting enough for me to remember it. Also would like to have seen more of Jax's humor from the first story.

This second book was so much more different than the first book. Like my review for the first book mentioned, it read too much like Kallypso Masters 'Rescue Me' series and that frustrated me to no end, even though there were a few differences. This book read much differently, it focused more on the mission/goal. It did kind of drag at times but overall it was really good. I love whole mysterious element that was added with Taryn's character, her book promises to be a good one. It was nice seeing all of the original characters making appearances in this book and meeting Elle, who is in book three. Once again the BDSM elements added to the book was done in good taste, nothing crass or crude.Jax wasn't nearly the same ass that his good friend Connor was...lol. Emily was amazing! I give Ms. Layne much credit when writing her female leads, she doesn't write women whom are scared of their own shadows, she writes women who can defend themselves, whom are strong, confident and courageous!

Ok so this second installment in this series had the making of a great book. Romantic suspense, sex, drama, mystery, action, continued characters, and a decent concept of a story. So why only 1 star? Well the story just didn't pull a connection with the characters and the reader. With everything this book promised and the potential to offer, it was just flat, boring, UN inspiring, I felt like while reading it, it was in a monotone voice in my head. It took me so long to finish because I just didn't connect to the story or characters and I found myself making excuses not to read. So not like me I'm a book whore!!! But finish it I did and the ending was just as non captivating as the whole book but hey at least it's finished. Moving away from romantic suspense for awhile this book kinda ruined it for me. I need a break and a good read!

Great book 2 in this series !! We get to see the team again, and this story is suspenseful and interesting. Emily was dead. Jax has found her !! She is in big trouble with the undercover work she was doing, and the team must help deliver evidence and save her life. I was disappointed that she didn't tell him the whole truth until about 1/3 into the story. But their relationship is full force after that. Perfect story of investigation, mystery, romance, decisions, secrets, and intrigue. Fast moving story flows along, and keeps us interested in the tale and the people. Wonderfully written by Kennedy Layne.I'll be reading more from this author. ENJOY !!!

GreatI really enjoyed the storyline. Plenty of suspense, mystery as well as romance. Also had just enough spice. Good read. I always like series because you get a better feel for the characters and in this series the characters fit well together, like a big fun family. Ajax and Emily have good chemistry.

This review was originally posted on "Bears Read Too!"Sinful Resurrection is book #2 in the CSA Case Files by Kennedy Layne.Yeah... now this is what I'm talking about!  I read book #1, Captured Innocence and I wasn't so impressed but this one totally made up for it!I love Jax!  He's an awesome character.  I fell in love with him in the first book even though he was a secondary character.  As a matter of fact, something funny; in Captured Innocence the story was about Connor and I didn't connect with him at all but connected with Jax and Crest instead.  In Sinful Resurrection, the story is about Jax and I continued to love him, but felt more connected to Connor in this book than I did in his story.  It's kind of odd for that to happen, but I say 'better late than never' because this CSA team is quite the dynamic.  Each book will be about a different member of the team but each member will show up in all the books so I'm glad that I finally connected with Connor a bit more.I'm not a huge fan of Emily, however, but it is what it is.  Her character is written well with great background, but I just have a hard time connecting with her.  I remember with the first book I didn't care for the female lead (Lauren) in that one either.  I'm not sure what it is with the whole personality clashes with certain characters in these books, but luckily it doesn't take too much away from the story for me.  I don't hate them... just indifferent about them I guess is a better way to explain it.The storyline in Sinful Resurrection was great and exciting!  Loved it!  Lots of action.I think this series is going to just get better and better as we go along.  I have faith in that.  I think this is definitely a must read and Kennedy Layne is doing a great job of keeping my interest.

Yet another amazing story from Kennedy Layne! This one about Jax and his believed-to-be-dead former lover, Emily. With lots of danger, intrigue and a deadly mission to protect the woman he loves, I enjoyed watching the dynamic between Jax and Emily. This was a fast-paced, edge of your seat thriller that didn't disappoint. My only reason for not giving the book 5-stars was due to 2 things: 1. My frustration with Emily - this is a woman who has gone behind the back of the man she loves in order to protect him and yet for the first 1/3 of the book she refuses to tell the entire truth about who she is and the real story behind her "death". Jax is a man with the means to help her vanish forever, he surely has the means to protect himself with the help of all the members of CSA. It just frustrated me that it took her so long to open up and tell Jax everything. She did redeem herself by the end of the book though and I did end up liking her by the time I finished the book. 2. While I'm not typically bloodthirsty, I found a certain "messenger"'s punishment highly unsatisfying. Granted, it seems like there is a mysterious backstory with the messenger and a member of the team, so I'm sure things will get tied up eventually. I look forward to continuing the rest of the series!

The story is based in a private investigative agency formed by ex-military people.I think this is a good story, even after reading for the second time. The main characters are interesting, and the romance and the suspense keeps the reader'a attention till the end. Besides, there's always the BDSM that's a constant in this series bringing a plus in hotness. We can read each book in the series independently but there's an unsolved plot that goes through all of them. The good thing is that not only all of the agents that work in the firm are interesting characters but we don't get annoyed to know that the villain is still there. I mean, it's not like a story that's broken in two, three or more pieces just to keep selling, when it would be enough to write only one book.

I really enjoyed this story about two lovers, separated by duty and circumstance, that are reunited to stop a threat to our national security. While Jax helped Emily disappear to save her life two years ago, she has to resurface to give evidence of the sale of weapons of mass destruction and murder to the UN Security Council. She comes to Jax and CSA for protection against an assassin that has been hired to silence her. The passion between Jax and Emily resurges with a vengeance and they try to build a future while still making sure that the international criminals are brought to justice. The passion between the two characters is palpable, but life and duty keep getting in their way. I really liked this story and I can't wait to hear more from Kennedy Layne and the CSA team!

I love this book. I can't wait to read the rest of the series once their written. For me the beginning of the book dragged a little but once the story got started I couldn't put it down. That's not anything bad on the author I just hate the time it takes to get to know you're characters and their back story before getting to the plot. I like all the action and mystery involved in this series. Kennedy also drops hints about the other characters in the series along the way. This makes me excited about hearing their story. The only draw back to this series is that there not all written yet and that's just my personal preference. I hate waiting months until the next one comes out because by that time I've moved on to another and can't remember all the details in the last book.

I don't know what it is about the leading men in this series so far but I don't like them. They're assholes and not the lovable kind of assholes like Lexi Blake's Ian from her brilliant Masters and Mercenaries series. Him I adore, and he's a big asshole! lol. Getting back to Jax and Emily I really couldn't connect to either of them. Emily showed promise but she quickly became just a damsel in distress in need of rescuing. Kennedy Layne also tends to over-use "her blue Sparkling eyes", or "Twinkling eyes"... every time I read that I had to grit my teeth and eye-roll, so annoying! and If Jak "smirked" one more time! SMH, if I could I'd hit him over the head with a 2x4!

I waited until morning to write the review on this story. The story made me want to cry, yell, and scream at times, and at the same time I melted into big puddles of romantic. Kennedy Layne lays it all out there for you. Like, love or hate it as you will, but I'm a fan.Jackson lost the love of his life 2 years ago. What hides behind his boss' door, and turns his life upside down will make you wonder what you know about your own life. Emily has secrets. A TON OF THEM. But only one thing stands in her way of getting back what she most wants in her life. The rest of the CSA crew is here to help both of these characters, and KL makes sure you'll want more of them.

I see I have a love/hate relationship with this series so far and again I'm contradicting my own views.I hated Emily until the last quarter I read a petulant, irrating female who will stop at nothing to expose the truth even if it gets everyone killed in the process. Selfish BUT then I loved her!Jax helped "fake" her death two years ago but turns out Emily has been doing anything but "hiding" BUT you then find out why... Which is good storytelling, because you're like "ah! Now I see!"BDSM is a factor but doesn't dominate the storyline, it is storyline driven which I like better than it just being D/s.

I love the fact that this is a romance and a thriller. It is fast paced. Emily made a decision to have Jax protector after he thought she was dead for many years only to find out that his one week encounter with the woman he feel in love with was very much alive still. He is the very dominate that she responds to as a submissive and she has never forgotten except the one time she lied to him. Jax will go to the ends of the earth to make sure she stays safe to testify and the United Nations. It is up to Jax to keep Emily safe and alive, but can he?

Great Read!!!This was the second book in the series and it was as good as the first. This author knows just what we want to read and she puts it all in there. Love, some drama, and sex what more could you ask for. Can't wait for the next one cause now I feel so invested in the characters I have to know how all this ends. Please tell me Crest and Jessie get together eventually!!!!!

Kennedy Layne has once again written a story that draws you right in from the very first word. I love that fact that even though all the characters are not blood related they are truly family and are there for each other. Kennedy writes a story with just the right elements of intrigue, hot sex and a couple that you want to find their happily ever after. I am looking forward to reading more from this talented author.

Great flow of a BDSM suspense storyThis one kept me on my toes. I liked it better than the first book. Lots of twist and turns without giving any spoilers away. I liked that when most books would have ended this one kept going a few months down the road, made the suspense and closure (if you can call it that) much better.

Constant action, intrigue and suspense. Even to the very last word. You just have to keep reading because you literally don't know what is coming next. Not only are Jax & Emily both great characters in the book, but even the 'Bad Guy' keeps you spell bound. And YES! Hot, steamy, erotic ADULT romance.I am hooked on this series. I just can't get enough!

Emilie had her death faked 2 years ago when she happened on evidence that put her life in danger. Now she is at CSA requesting Jax keep her safe until she can testify at the United Nations Security Council. She has a contract on her to be eliminated before she can testify and present evidence to take down a lot of high ranking officials.

Great book. I was a little confused at first but kept in reading. Then the story became more clear. I loved how brave and tough Emily was. She still kept her sweetness after everything she went through. Jax is the ultimate alpha. He protects those he loves. I love how the end kept it open to know more was coming.

CSA case files... Wow! This is the story of Jax and Emily. Jax received a new assignment- Keep Emily alive. But, how is that possible, since the one woman he ever loved is already dead! This story is exciting and gut wrenchingly emotional. The sex is extremely hot. Kennedy Layne has made me a believer in her strong story lines and well developed characters.

Enjoyed this military romance. There was plenty of suspense and some questions left unanswered. Wonder if next in series is about Taryn and her connection to the assassin. Maybe Crest and Jessie's story. Nothing showing for the next in the series so I hope I find it when it releases. Wish the author would add it to goodreads so I could add to my books list.

There is nothing redeeming about this novel. Claiming to be romantic suspense is a stretch as I didn't find any romance or suspense. DNF after 36% of an average novel with no comedy or drama or anything. 1.5 stars.
