**Copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**RATING CLARIFICATION : 4.5 STARSFirst off I would like to thank Jennifer Culbreth for providing me a copy to read and review. This book was such a gem. For being Jennifer's debut novel she really knocked this one out of the park. This book was a great start to a series that I believe is going to be great. This book had a little bit of everything. It was a great love story between a rich hero and a sweet southern girl, but it also had a heck of a lot of suspense. As for the steam factor....this one was pretty steamy. The steam actually doesn't come into play until later in the book but let me tell you, you won't really miss it. Now you might be thinking...oh great....another Rich Hero with poor young innocent girl ( you know like 50 Shades or Bared to You ) but this book is nothing like those. Yes Ryan is rich man and Yes Abbi is the young innocent girl, but that is where the similarities end. This book sucked me in just by reading the synopsis. Once I opened the book I was hooked from the first page until the end. I know that I labeled this as a cliffhanger ending but I am not sure if you could call it that. Ryan and Abbi's story definitely has a HEA but it also ends with you knowing that their story could continue. The cliffhanger comes into play when it comes to Jace and Judy's ( Ryan and Abbi's BFF's ) story. I want to believe the next book will be about them or it will be about all four characters. The ending definitely isn't one that will kill you and drive you crazy, it is an ending that you really don't have to wait for all the books to come out. My only real reason that I didn't give this a full 5 star rating was because I thought it was kind of predictable. But with that said it didn't take away from my enjoyment of this book/story. I don't want to go to much into the story because I really can't say anything that wouldn't be a spoiler. So I would just say...pick up this book, you won't be sorry. As for Abbi, I thought she was a great character. Yes she was young and innocent but she was still strong in her own right. She really didn't let people push her around. I would say that in the beginning she kind of lacked the ability to communicate with Ryan and that led to some misunderstandings, but that changed as the story went on. I really liked the pace that Ryan and Abbi's relationship took. It wasn't like they saw each other and BOOM!!!! instantly together, it took some time for these two to actually connect. Even though they each thought about each other constantly. Now Ryan....WOW....I LOVED him. He was so sweet and protective of Abbi. My heart melted with everything he did and said. I also liked that the author showed his vulnerable side. In the beginning the author showed that even though you are rich and good looking you can also be afraid of rejection. Now some of that shy side of Ryan came from that fact that he had some ghosts in his past that he couldn't get over and he truly believed he wasn't good enough for Abbi. He thought that he needed to protect her from him and his past. I loved that when his past is revealed to Abbi, she told him that it didn't matter and she loved him anyway. She saw him for the real person he was and not stuff that happened in the past. The secondary characters were great as well. I loved Gabe, Jace, Judy, and Ashley (even though Ashley lost her way for a short time) Judy and Ashley befriend Abbi right away and they formed an amazing friendship. I really liked the banter between the girls. Gabe and Jace were employees of Ryan's but also great friends. Gabe actually ends up becoming one of Abbi's BFF by the end of the story. Gabe and Jace were just really sweet and loyal characters. You need to read this book to really experience the true greatness of these characters. I can't put it into words. As for Trent, Jeff, and Isabelle....well they are all skeazeballs and I won't waste anytime talking about them. Just know I hated them all :)I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for steamy, suspenseful love story. This book will keep your attention all the way through and you will keep turning the pages because you want to know what happens. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.Reviewed for

Protect Me is self published novel by Jennifer Culbreth and is the first in a series. This book was released in July of 2013. This is a contemporary romance with a romantic suspense like element.Abbi has moved to L.A. and landed a job as a bartender in a club. She makes two really good friends and meets Ryan, a guy with a military background that owns a security company. Ryan is very well off business wise, but he is still battling his personal demons after seeing combat.Although, he is very attracted to Abbi, he believes keeping his distance from her would be the noble thing to do, since he had to do thing during the war he wasn't proud of.So, he flirts with Abbi and runs both hot and cold. First he sends the interested signal, but then when Abbi responds to him, he backs off, leaving Abbi feeling frustrated. So, she agrees to date a guy she met at the club. As fate would have it, Ryan is also at the party Abbi and her date attends. When Abbi finds herself in a dire predicament, Ryan and his friend come to Abbi's rescue. From that moment on, Ryan starts to let go of his fears about entering into a relationship with Abbi. However, there are some sinister activities going on at the club, and Abbi may be in the line of fire. Being a debut novel, I was pretty impressed. First of all, I have to comment on the cover- it's really eye catching. I liked it. I thought the author did a good job of making the characters seem 'real'. I could see these women being friends, going to parties, dealing with boyfriend troubles, and getting into things that could lead to trouble. Ryan was not an over the top Alpha Male, but he was the strong protective type. He turned Abbi's life into a fairytale, and we all like to indulge in those fantasies from time to time.Abbi had a few insecurities about belonging in a certain social class. With Ryan being so wealthy and Abbi being a normal, trying to make ends meet type girl, it's understandable that she would struggle with confidence issues. Abbi does seem to find trouble a lot though. She doesn't go looking for it, but it sure seems to find her. But, this keeps Ryan on his toes a little. This was a great effort for a first novel. A little work on editing- not with grammar or typos, but just with the flow of the book, will help with future efforts. With more work and confidence, this author will be one to watch for in the future. This one is a B.Thanks to Jennifer for the ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I will be honest, I hadn't heard much about this book/author until approached for a review, and let me just say, I will be reading more from her! This book was from sweet southern Georgia to crazy white trash LA with a dash of romance in between!Abbi's first night in LA leaves her flustered, from meeting a well known rapper, really Abbi, Mr. Dirty? LMAO! To meeting Ryan just by chance the same night she was all twisted around, but recovered nicely.I love how fate kept bringing these 2 together. Even when they tried their best to avoid one another. Fate is funny like that at times. Ryan finally tries to get over his past and goes after Abbi, especially after his ignorance puts her in danger. He saves her then, and saves her later on again. What is it about Miss Georgia that attracts these men??? He courts her, and I love him for taking her to a chocolatier as a first outing/date. Totally jealous on that one! There are some shady things going on at the club where she works, and it LOVE LOVE LOVED the fact that instead of hiding it from him, she is up front about it, and in turn, he lets her decide how she wants to handle things. Unfortunately, this ends disastrously. Again, Ryan saves the day! And I was ecstatic at the little "surprise" in the end, how he knew before she did. But, I have to admit, I did see that one coming. Totally loved this book. Needs some minor editing, a few more details and such in a few places, but otherwise, great book!!!I give it 4.5 stars, but rounded up to 5 because it didn't impede the story by much.

Review: I was given an ebook of Protect Me from Sunshine and Mountains book blog for an honest review. For a debut book it was great. There were no errors in grammar and it all ran smoothly together. It was well put together. In this story, Jennifer did a great job of bringing the world around the characters to life while creating a story that draws you in and makes you want to read more.Abbi moved to Los Angeles after receiving some money from her father who passed away. She wants to build a new life for herself. She starts working at a new club and meets a delicious bodyguard named Ryan. Ryan seems to have the world at his fingertips and everything going for him. Ryan has more than enough baggage to make life difficult for a relationship. With countless woman problems he has had a hard time opening up to anyone to let them into his life. Together Ryan and Abbi must make this work or fall apart. They both have pasts and Ryan is trying to move past his and Abbi is trying to make it. Will they be able to love without getting hurt? You must read this book to find out. I really enjoyed this debut book and think that Jennifer did a great job in her story line. I will definitely read more of her books. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good love story. I give this book an A+.

Protect me is the debut book of the new contemporary fiction writer, Jennifer Culbreth. In this story the author did a good job of bringing the world around the characters to life while creating a story line that will draw you in and make you want to read more.In this book we follow the adventure of life and love of Abbi, who after receiving some inheritance decided to move to the big city of Los Angeles and build a new life for herself. As she fights to build a better life she encounters a bump in the road in the form of the delicious bodyguard Ryan. Ryan, who in appearance has the world at his fingertips and everything going for him, has more than enough baggage to make life difficult for a relationship to flourish. With countless female problems he has had a hard time opening up to anyone to let them into his lifeTogether they must make the choice to take a leap of faith to let each other in and give their love a chance in the hopes of finding in each other, the person that can protect them. For a debut novel, this author did a great job of creating an enjoyable story line with characters that you will be able to relate to, cheer for and grow to love. I will be looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Ryan he's compassionate and I liked that, "her eyes read and swollen, Jesus he had actually hurt her. His guy tore in two, he had no idea why, but every fiber of him wanted to protect her and keep her from being harmed." Abbi she has balls and isn't afraid to speak her mind, "you know, I am with a date tonight and he is really nice. He compliments me, wants to spend time with me, and be seen in public with me. You haven't done any of those things tonight Ryan." He loves his girl though, she turns him on, "a low growl escaping his lips as her teeth grazed the side of his throat. "Baby, as much as I would love to stay here and make love to you seven ways till Sunday. I have to go in this morning." He's also the type of man who doesn't mind a little shopping now when you find one of those you keep them, "well, what kind of shopping did you want to do? Clothes, paintings, home goods. You name it and we are there." I liked this book and can't wait for Jace's story.

3.5 shiny stars! I read this a couple of nights ago and it hit the spot. It's the perfect easy read if you're looking for a break from those super intense angsty reads. Y'all know i love my men protective and Ryan doesn't disappoint. He isn't as cocky as I like them but thats ok. He doesn't play games or give mixed signals and I liked that a lot!Abbi is the typical girl with her own set of insecurities but she doesn't allow herself to miss out on the good things because of it.Ryan and Abbi both have their own set of friends and I really enjoyed what they brought to the story. Although some of the events that happened seemed a little far fetched I had to remember this is fiction and anything can happen. This book has it all..action, jealousy, suspense, hot sex scenes and a HEA. There's no cliffhanger for the main couple but the ending does leave you in suspense for the next book in the series!

I was given a reviewer copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.I actually REALLY enjoyed this book! It kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to read faster so I could see what was coming on the next page. My kindle could hardly keep up with me! All the twists and turns Abbi and Ryan experience in this book were awesome! With this being a debut novel for Ms. Culbreth I was expecting over descriptive sentences or characters, or no character development whatsoever but there was none of that. She did an amazing job keeping me in suspense but wanting more. When this book ended I was thankful that I had an ARC of the next so I wouldn’t have to wait! I would recommend this for anyone 5/5.

I haven't received my copy yet, just received notice I had won. 9/14/13Received my copy and hope to start soon. I have 2 others plus my current read in front. 9/24/13Started 10/10/13Finished 10/12/13Abbi is from a small town. She packed up and headed out to Los Angeles to leave her old life behind. All is going well until she literally falls into the arms of Ryan. He is one of the most eligible bachelors in Los Angeles battling his own past. This book was an okay read. Nothing to groundbreaking, and a little cliché or predictable. Maybe it just wasn't enough of a thriller for me. Too much on the love story side, and not enough action.

To sum it all up in one word, amazing. I have recently been reading ARC copies of love stories which I don't normally do, they are too mushy for me and too foofy (that's a real word). Jennifer Culbreth has forever changed my view of the genre. She combined the awesome head over heels fairy tale love between Abbi and Ryan with steamy love scenes intertwined with action that makes your pulse race. From this point on I will be comparing all other books of this genre with this one. I find it hard to believe love stories get any better than this.

Wow what a great new author! I loved this book for several reasons. Ryan was protective of Abbi but not over the top obsessed like I have been reading lately. This was just the change I needed. I can't wait for the next book to come out because I need to know what Judy has to tell Abbi.

Protect Me By: Jennifer Culbreth ****I absolutely enjoyed this book. It was so fun to read, witty, and had alot of passion between the characters. I loved how they could walk into a room and just know that the other one was there.Abby was such a sweet and caring person. I loved watching how her confidence continued to grow throughout the book thanks to all of the wonderful people who had came into her life. She was also a really funny girl and had lots of spirit.I instantly loved Ashley and Judy. They were such amazing friends to Abby when they met her. The would push her limits and show her just how beautiful she was. They both always tried to look out for her as well. Friends who stand by you no matter what and fight for you. Then she runs into one of the most wonderful men EVER, Ryan. He is strong, caring and very protective of those he loves. I adored the man, he has such a big heart. You can't help but swoon over him. I was so crazy over how intense their connection was. It was like faith was trying to bring them together with all of their chance encounters. I definitely took it as faith :) Ryans demons are what keeps the relationship from happening for a while. It was really frustrating, but you also understood where he was coming from with everything. I meant it when I said the book was fun. There are so many funny parts in the book that you can't help but laugh or smile when you read them. Ryans birthday present from Abby being one of them. I was literally cracking up. By the end of the book you will be blown away. You will get to a part that is nail biting and crazy. I was tore up and hoping for the best the more I read. The ending now that was something. :) I was left with everything to my imagination. So I am most definitely excited for the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book, it's such a wonderful and beautiful story.*Book received by author for an honest review :)Here is the amazon link to Protect Me is Jennifers Facebook so go show her some love :)

Protect Me (Protected Love #1) by Jennifer CulbrethReviewed by: Michelle 4 starssynopsis:Abbi Hastings had never been fearless. She’d been firmly entangled in her small town roots her entire life until an unexpected inheritance provided her a chance to escape. As she took the only opportunity she’d have to get out, Abbi left her world behind and boarded the plane with her one way ticket to Los Angeles.Relentless and fighting for her own independence, it all goes to hell when fate throws a twist into her plans. Everything changes the day she accidentally falls into the arms of Ryan. Tall, dark eyed, and handsome CEO of LA’s hottest bodyguard service who is fighting some dark demons of his own.Can Abbi take a leap of faith and dare to experience all that the world has to offer, accepting that fate has brought her here into the arms of the man who will protect her? Protect her mind, body, and soul.Review:I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised!! This is the authors first book In a 3 book series. And I think she did a fantastic job! I think she had it all! She had me laughing…A LOT…She had me shocked… she had drama… & 2 crazy ass best friends!!…lol I liked the authors writing style… I found that the book flowed good. Now…There was only 1 thing that I really didn’t care for. That’s why I couldn’t give this book a 5 star…. & I’ll get to that in a bit.Abbi Hastings came from a very small town in Georgia. Living in a trailer… Living paycheck to paycheck. Trying to save enough money to get out of her situation. She has some issues with trusting people…mostly men. She came across some money & she took that money and ran with it! Packed as much as she could in a suitcase…& start her new life… In a place where no one knew her or her story. Purely by accident she landed herself a bartending job at a trendy new bar in LA. Her boss Trent is the Bar owner & has the hots for Abbi… But also has a very bad & very dangerous secret. Her two new & crazy co workers/ friends….Ashley & Judy also bartenders. Become fast friends!I loved Abbi, Ashley & Judy’s smart mouth & white trash jokes!!…Abbi- “You better watch it buddy. I am from the south you know. We watch wrestling in my trailer hood.”Judy- “Honey, you aren’t in Georgia anymore and the owner of the bar isn’t your uncle. So no it’s not weird.”Ashley- Hell no. Listen you go over there and prance around for him a little and he will be begging you for a date. Then you let him wine and dine you before you go back to his apartment and have hot monkey sex with him”On her first night working she meets a very fine looking body guard! That puts Abbi on edge right away! Ryan Dixson… CEO of a bodyguard company he started once he got out of the military. & he’s quite the lady’s man! But one look at at Abbi & right away… Ryan knew she was a game changer!Sparks few once they first touched. He couldn’t stop thinking about her from that night on! But… Dealing with issues from his past in the military drove him to stay away from Abbi. Abbi couldn’t get Ryan out of her head too. Having issues with her parents growing up. Abbi was very reluctant to giving in to her feelings with Ryan. But she wanted to try with him & he didn’t take his chance. Something he will always regret. Because something horrible happened to Abbi! When I read what had happened to her! I was shocked! I kind of knew something was coming.. Well…after that night…things changed for them!!I loved the way Ryan treated Abbi!!“Oh babe, don’t ever worry about having to do things for me. I am completely happy just having you in my life finally. I am sorry that I didn’t court you like I should have. I have been stupid about this from the very start and I promise that I will do my best to make up for that for as long as it takes. But please know that all I ever need to be happy, is to see you happy and smiling.”He always made her feel cherished!!“Abbi, may I kiss you?”“Abbi, I am going to make love to you tonight.”I loved that!! Things between Abbi & Ryan are moving along pretty quickly. While all this is going on with Abbi & Ryan… Trent, Abbi boss is getting deeper in trouble & involving Abbi into his mess. Abbi knows something is up…she knows it’s bad too…But all she can do it rely on Ryan to help & protect her. The last 2 chapter are full of action! & the ending of the book leaves you with a slight cliffhanger but also leaves you satisfied… Nothing to bad.Now …The only thing I did not care for was the over use of descriptions of everything. For example… I like to know what they are wearing… I just don’t need to know the whole process of it all.But other than that one detail… I really enjoyed the book a lot! & I’m looking forward to reading the second book in the Protected Love series!!Thank You Jennifer Culbreth for writing a good book for all to enjoy!!

"Don't use your handsome smile on me.I am going back to work in two days, I don't care if I have to pour drinks with crutches holding me up." She crossed her arms and looked sideways at him."You think I'm handsome?"When I read the synopsis I was like ooh sounds good lets get started when I saw the cover I was like..uhmm well..strange this sooo needs to be changed.Want to know how I pictured the cover? I saw a hot security guard standing with his arms folded and so on..This cover is soo not what I imagined and if I saw this cover before reading it I would have skipped it, I know I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover blah blah blah but that's exactly what I would have done in a rush.So I kind of made my own cover pahah! I think this is how the cover should be..something kinda like this..what dya think?"This isn't Kansas anymore Dorothy. Don't make me fire you on your first night, because I might get get used to seeing you in those shorts, or as you think lack thereof."Abbi has always lived in her small town and never done anything fearless. She couldn't afford it and well she felt safe in her town so moving felt scary but times have changed and its time for her to be fearless, to explore and to find herself. So when she finds out about her fathers death and that he has left her some money she takes a chance and steps into the unknown. She decides to move out of the small town and buys a one way ticket to Los Angeles. Here she gets a job at a luxurious club and tries to make it on her own.Its where her life collides with Ryan's life and everything changes for the both of them.Ryan isn't in the mood but has to go in for a job at a club.He is a CEO of LA’s hottest bodyguard service and when he steps into the club and spots Abbi things change. She intrigues him, captivates him and he wants to know more about her.Fighting demons of his own and being tangled into Abbi's life, has he found his other half? Or will this all lead to more trouble than its worth?" was all for this man because in her heart or hearts she knew now that he was her destiny.Fate had made damn sure she wasn't faltering from its plan any longer."Ryan is awesome! He made me laugh, swoon and fall for him.I liked the other characters as well and wanted to know more about here is me hoping the next book is about Gabe..please tell me there is a book about Gabe?"Holy Shit, you got it bad man.I am going to have to meet this chick that has stolen your heart," Jace fluttered his eyes towards Ryan.So yeh I enjoyed this book even though at first I was like ahhh crap its not in first person *sobs* Yes I do prefer it to be in first person as I feel closer to the characters that way but hey I still enjoyed this and dont regret reading it.I finished this really quickly wanting to know what would happen next it kept me intrigued until the end and well I wanted more.It finished and I was like..there needs to be more! There were a few things I was like uhm what happened to him? What about this urghh answer my questions!! Lets hope the next book solves that problem for me.This is a fast-paced, funny, hot book with suspense and much more..This is more than a love story its a journey, a story that keeps you on edge and hooked until the end.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*ARC provided by the author for an honest review*Check out my blog for more reviews!

Oh my dear. Where to start with this one...First the positive I suppose. I commend Jennifer for having the guts to publish her first book. The ideas were awesome and I thought this has a ton of potential. Unfortunately the execution of these good ideas landed squarely on it's ass. There are some decent sexy times and it does get suspenseful towards the end which I think is an awesome thing. Now the not so positive- there's quite a bit- I don't think I'll leave any spoilers though. These are in no particular order. This is a very wordy book for me. A lot of extra crap is thrown in there and it's just not relevant or even wanted. Do I seriously need to know exactly where every last piece of furniture is in the Hero's room? Do I need to know the exact color, shape, size and details of each of those pieces as well? Do I need three pages explaining how his closets look? Um- no. Same goes for a bunch of different scenes. The bday party, most of Christmas and many other scenes are just there to be there. They have no point and are not needed. In fact- they take away from overall story for me. I can't say it enough. Edit edit edit! And when you THINK you've done a good job editing your book yourself- have someone else look over it! I guarantee you that there WILL be issues and mistakes that you passed over. It shows a laziness and lack of consideration (IMO) of the author to NOT get a book edited. It doesn't have to be an expensive thing either. There are plenty of people around willing to help for free or cheap. Expanding on the editing thing- a book is in a sad state when I'm left wondering if English is the author's first language. Sadly- it seems it is, as it says the author was born and graduated college in Florida. I'm just not sure what to think about that. The quality of writing, grammar usage, lack of or wrongly used punctuation, wrong word choices... this would not have gotten a passing grade from a high school English teacher, forget about a collegiate level professor accepting it. I honestly have no idea how the author thought all of this was good enough to publish. Word of advice to all new authors: READ YOUR WORK OUT LOUD! If it sounds off or wrong when you read it to yourself, chances are it will sound off to your readers. OK- story points. It takes forever for this to really take off. Once it does it's a loooong wait to get to the juicy meat of the story. Once we get to the juicy meat- we find it's only an appetizer sized thing and it's gobbled up in the last 15% of the book. The best part of the book doesn't happen until you're almost done- and even then it doesn't even draw it out until the end. We get about 5-8% of decently done action and suspense. It was a huge let down in the suspense department. What little is there is done well, but I was honestly expecting it to be more of a major player in the book as a whole. The characters are also a bit... forced. What they do and say and how they act. None of it feels natural. When they interact with each other, I sort of got the feeling like I was back in high school., watching the drama club walk through their latest play at the first rehearsal. They were saying the words and going through the motions but none of the spark or chemistry is there. It's wooden and stilted and unnatural. Overall- I hate to say it- but it's not really worth it and I can't see myself being bothered to even think about the next one.

Abbi has been living day to day, barely getting by, stuck in a small town wince she lost her mother to cancer. When she gets an unexpected call that her estranged father has passed away leaving her with a small inheritance, she sees her chance to escape the small town she thought she would never leave. One plane ticket, and first and last month rent paid at a great apartment she is out of money. But, as luck would have an accidental grab of the wrong coffee lands her a job as a bartender at a hot new nightclub in LA.When she stumbles into the arms of Ryan Dixon, sparks begin to fly. As they continue to bump into one anther it is obvious to both of them that the sparks are more than just coincidental. Ryan tries to keep Abbi at arms length, not wanting to taint her with his demons. However, when he saves her from a horrible fate, Ryan knows he can no longer deny what he is feeling for her.Abbi is different than most heroines that we see. She is strong and independent, but still has normal insecurities. She is very much the girl next door, in terms of personality. She can live it up with the best of them or shoot whiskey when the occasion arises. I loved her. Her insecurities have almost nothing to do with her person, but her station in life, which I could definitely appreciate.Ryan is a veteran, who served in Afghanistan, and now owns his own 'personal protection' company. It has been very successful for him, and he has been labeled as one of L.A.'s most eligible bachelors. He knows that he has too many demons too have a long-term relationship, so he makes that clear to every woman he is with. He is really a great man and completely selfless when it comes to those he loves.I really enjoyed Protect Me. There were lots of twists and turns that I didn't really see coming until just before they were revealed. I loved the way that Jennifer was able to keep me on my toes we to what was going to happen and where it was coming from. This was definitely a romance with a good part thriller thrown in. The relationship between Ryan and Abbi, once they both decided to pursue it, was wonderful. I never felt like one of them had the upper hand over the other. Emotionally they were definitely equals. I really appreciated that one of them didn't seem to control the other in any way. There were a few places where there was some heavy shit going on, but I never felt like this was a dark book. I'm not sure that I would say that this book is for everyone, it is definitely not a light read but I think that most people would really like it. Protect Me is book 1 of Jennifer Culbreth's Protected Love series. I am definitely looking forward to reading more about these characters.

She found a job bartending in one of the classy clubs in the city, found two-awesome girlfriends, and Ryan Dixon – one of the richest, sought-after bachelors in the city. However, it looks like it’s not only Ryan’s attention she managed to catch – there’s Trent (the shady bar-owner with dangerous secrets) and there’s Jeff too. After years of being a scout ranger and fighting off enemies, Ryan Dixon decided to go back to school, and build his own security business. His past keeps on haunting him, crippling him to form relationships and engage in meaningful ones – until Abby lands into him. He tries to ask her out, but couldn’t bring out the words – (yep, it’s funny to imagine how this scout ranger could probably topple the enemies and yet couldn’t ask a girl to date him). I like the way he courted her, cared for her and really took his time, making sure she was ready before he makes the next step.I like Abby – her wit, beauty and attitude. Ryan may want and CAN provide for her and anything that she wants, but she still opted to work. But some problems arise at work when people who are after her boss, gets to go after her as well. I’m glad that she didn’t keep these stuffs from Ryan, instead she was forthcoming, honest and relayed it all to him, in exchange, when he’s not with her, someone is, ensuring her safety. She’s a brave girl – but not stupid – THIS IS WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT HER.Ryan is the ultimate knight-in-shining armor – because he always ends up rescuing our damsel. (Where can you find guys like these?!) Anyway, I love the last parts of the novel: action-packed and heart-stopping. I loved how it end – yes, it wasn’t much of a surprise, but it was still nice. Protect Me is great debut novel by Jennifer Culberth and the first book in the Protected Love Series. If this story was anything to go by, I will definitely make sure I come back for more. The story begins with Abbi, a small town southern girl who use to live in a trailer after she just moved to L.A looking to change her life. With a new job and some new friends Judy and Ashley things are really looking up for Abbi. I love her as the lead female, she gives off a sense of naivety and innocence but is strong and independent at the same time. Abbi is witty but doubts her worth, she definitely doesn't see herself as the beautiful woman she is.Ryan Dixon...... Well helloooo Ryan. The retired army ranger is the mega rich owner of a private protection / bodyguard service. This sexy man has everything going for him but doesn't believe in relationships because of the demons he holds from his past. However, all that changes one night when he has to cover for one of his guards and meets Abbi at the night club where she works. From here we the story develops while these two can't stop thinking about each other and events lead Ryan to realise that Abbi is very different from all other woman he has known before. While their attraction and chemistry is instant the relationship isn't shoved straight into the insta love that you see in other stories. I loved how their relationship grew and how Ryan treats Abbi; always with respect and love. I loved their date to the chocolatier, it was fun and showed Ryan's lighter side. I also loved how open they were with each other. Abbi was open about what was happening at work and Ryan was open about some of his past and they worked through things together. These characters developed well through the book and I really enjoyed the secondary characters like Judy, Jace, Gabe and Ashley as well. I can't wait to read the next book about Judy and Jace. With some drama, suspence, action and of course romance Protect Me provided a great story line that flowed well and was easy to read. I enjoyed Jennifer's writing style and eagerly look forward to the rest of the series.

This was just an all around GREAT book!Protect Me starts off with us meeting one of our main characters Abby. Abby just inherited some money from her deceased father and decides she needs a change in her life…. a BIG change. Abby decides to move from her small hometown to the big city of Los Angeles. Once in LA Abby gets a bar tending position at a new hot spot club. She fits right in here basically from the very beginning. She loves who she works with and is making really good money and is loving her new life. One night at the club, she is serving in the VIP section and she meets Ryan. Ryan, oh how many great things can I say about Ryan. I love him! He is definitely one of my favorite male characters EVER! Ryan is the CEO of a security company. He is extremely sexy and wealthy and has some demons in his past that he just can’t get past. Once these two meet they cant seem to stop running into each other. And the chemistry between them just flows off the pages of this book. Jennifer Culbreth did a great job with these two. They were perfectly written for each other. She did an amazing job making you feel the love they had for each other. Amazing! This book is a lot more then just a love story though. Jennifer Culbreth kept you on the edge of your seat with this book. I couldn’t put it down till I finished! I have to mention other characters in this book also. They were just as amazingly written. I loved them and I can’t wait to read their stories too! (I HOPE! HINT...HINT)I cant give away anymore about what goes on in this book because you have to read it but I will tell you this, soooooo much more happens in this book!!! It is definitely a must read. You will not be disappointed!I will be telling all my friends about this book and I will be on the look out for the next one in the series!!!I give this book 5 stars!!* Written for Seductive Romance Reviews

Leary says...Abbi is from a small southern town and doesn't know much outside of working in a bar in a town where you know every single person and taking care of her sick mother that died a few years ago. Finally, her father gives her something to be grateful for, the chance to escape the small town for big city living. Abbi finds a job at one of the hottest clubs in LA within a few days of moving there. During her first night she gets assigned one of the VIP booths and finds herself face to face with a sexy bodyguard, Ryan. Ryan has a few demons of his own (though we don't hear much about them) so he hesitant to have any relationship outside of his usual WAM BAM thank you Ma'am nights. One thing that bothered me about this book was that almost every man Abbi came into contact with was begging for a chance to be with her. I understand when characters are extremely good looking but it really rubs me the wrong way when everyone is vying for her attention. All the male attention ended up making sense to me in the end with how the stories connected and once something happened to Abbi due to one of the males it became a domino effect of Ryan finally opening up to claiming Abbi as his own.Dare I say it?! I could have used a little less romance and little more action and background!! Please...don't throw stones at me!! I really did enjoy the sexual chemistry between Abbi and Ryan but I really would have enjoyed hearing more about Ryan's demons and maybe getting more action in the bodyguard front. I did love Abbi's best friends and will be adding their books onto my TBR. I had a hard time staying connected with this book though, I just kept hoping for more of a story or a twist or something to seriously grab my attention.3 bookies!

Meet Abbi and Ryan. Abbi needs a new start.Ryan deserves a new start. After a chance meeting in a nightclub, fate has them bumping into each other frequently. The chemistry is hot, the story is great. The characters --- I can't say enough about them. I loved them both.Abbi inherits money and wants to start over, so she moves from her small town to a big city. LA, in fact, where the action never stops. She takes a job at a nightclub where she ends up meeting ex-military man Ryan. They're attracted to each other, but it takes some time for them to get on the same page, but once they do, I fell in love with Ryan. Abbi is a great character, too, but there's just something sexy about a strong man who wants to protect his girl. I loved that Abbi is a southern girl who wants more in life and takes a chance on moving and starting fresh. Ryan has a past that he's not proud of. He's somewhat troubled and has a difficult time dropping the walls he's built around him and letting other's in. I'll admit - I had a preconceived idea about this book. The title, "Protect Me," had me thinking that the female would be some weak type, who needed a man to survive, and I hate those stories. That's totally not what this book is about. In the end, I think they (Abbi & Ryan) end up protecting each other, but from cover to cover, there's a much deeper story. The plot is good, the story is good, and I enjoyed Jennifer Culbreath's debut novel. These are some of my favorite characters in a debut novel, and there was just enough mystery, suspense, ups and downs to make this a really good book. I'm eager to read follow up novels by Ms. Culbreath.4.5 Stars

First, I love the cover. If you are one of those people who look at a book cover and start judging it right away, then you'll want to know that sometimes a beautiful cover does equal a beautiful story. There will be no let downs in this book.I have read so many books over the past years, each one making me feel something different: sadness, joy, anxiousness, fear, adrenaline, excitement. This book will give you all that and some. I cried, I laughed, I swooned. For real, this is a book that delivers it all.The storyline was very well developed and the subplots fit into it so well. I loved the relationship between the three girls, the witty banter, it was so funny. I laughed my butt off.Abbi and Ryan, the two main characters the storyline followed, their romance was beautiful, sexy and fun. I anticipated every single moment they spent together. Ryan was so fierce and protective but so freaking sweet I loved, loved, loved him.If you want a funny, sexy, action packed book then this is the book you want. Warning, there is a major cliff-hanger at the end. Not the unbearable type that has you cringing and cursing at the author for torturing you but one that will leave you anticipating the next book.I gave it 4 stars only because there were some very minor grammar issues and a couple of times I had to re-read something because the scene didn't transition well but it did not take from the story or make me want to stop reading it in anyway.Don't pass by this book, you will seriously be missing out on a great read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book took me by surprise it’s been a little while since a book has sucked me in so much! Abbi is a fun loving girl who has moved to LA from small town Georgia. Her first night working at a very popular bar she literally stumbles into the arms of Ryan Dixon a bodyguard to a rapper who is at the bar. Ryan owns his own bodyguard business and is rich and well known around LA. Trent, Abbi’s boss has the hots for her, she isn’t interested as she thinks it’s wrong as he her boss. Things aren’t right at the bar and Trent is keeping secrets which causes for Abbi, Judy and Ashley to be put in harm’s way.Fate kept intervening with Ryan and Abbi they found themselves running into each other and I found myself eagerly waiting for it to happen, I enjoyed the playful banter that went on between them. I loved Abbi, Judy and Ashley’s friendship, so honest with each other and so quick with retorts and always there for each other, I found myself laughing out loud a fair bit. I love all the characters and their personalities. I’m glad Ryan’s first thought of Abbi was ‘what would she like to do for fun and how would she like her eggs cooked’ and not what she would be like in bed. This book had everything romance, mystery and fun loving characters you could easily fall in love with. I highly recommend this book! It is very well written and Jennifer loves to leave you hanging so be prepared!. Thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review.

Abbi is a small town girl who has inherited a bit of money. She knows if she is to ever leave the small town, it is now. So she leaves her southern roots and heads to LA. Having done a bit of bartending back home, she was able to get a job is a hot new club as a bartender. She makes friends with two of the other female bartenders and the three help each other. On her first night working she ends up at the personal bartender of a rap star. He is very impressed with her as is a bodyguard, Ryan Dixon, that is in the bar that night. Ryan also happens to be the owner of the bodyguard company. Ryan is very impressed with Abbi, but he tries to stay away from her. He senses that she is a bit on the innocent side. He comes from a military background and has served several tours of duty in a war zone. He feel like he's probably not the right guy for Abbi, but he can't stay away. The romance between these two builds over time as they learn to trust each other. It becomes very hot once the trust is there. There is a lot of action going on at the bar where Abbi works and a good portion of the book's plot revolves around that. The supporting characters bring a lot to the story and the action of the book. I enjoyed the book very much and will be looking for the authors next one in this series.*This was a Good Reads win. Thank you!!

She is working in the club where she met her new friends Judy and Ashley.Ryan Dixon is a hot ex Military who now is an CEO of the bodyguard service. They met one night when he came to the club. She couldn´t stop glancing in his direction the whole night. And after that night, she couldn´t stopped thinking about him.Ryan saw something in her. Something different that drew her to him. She wasn´t like any other women he has been with. He isn´t a relationship guy, but Abbi changed it.He is sweet, protective. He takes care of her. He watches over her.I really like how their relationship developed.I was hooked on the book from the first page. It is so so good. The plot. The story. The way the story developed. My Book Blog Naughty and Smutty was given this an arc for an honest review by the author Thank You!.......3.5 stars..................... When we received this book we didn't know exactly what to expect. I will say that at the beginning of the book I thought that Abbi was a naïve character and I kinda thought she was immature. But as I kept reading my opinion was changed. Abbi becomes a very strong character. I loved how she took a chance with Ryan. WOW Ryan he is very swoon worthy ladies. He is hot, tall and a sexy body guard!Ill be honest the beginning of the book for me was a bit hard to get into. But the book soon started to pick and I definitely started to enjoy the story. These two are put through some bumps on their road. But they seem to over come it. This book has steamy scenes that I enjoyed of course.I totally say give this book a shot!! It does end with a cliff hanger (not a cliff hanger that kills lol) and let me say the last 2 chapters are very exciting!I cant wait to see what book 2 has to offer! I want to know what happens next!!!*Only thing that I kinda got put off by was the over details on certain scenes**** I know some of you read books depending on the book cover. But this books characters are all hot and steamy ********

Jennifer Culbreth Protect Me Protected Love #1 As a debut novel, I was expecting a few errors, over descriptive paragraphs and the character development needing a little work – I got none of that, just a great book that was easy and enjoyable to read. Abbi is a strong character, and is determined to never look back and make what she wants of her life. I felt for Ryan straight away, having been through so much in his life he needed a little happiness but never felt like he was good enough for anything other than work. Together, they are such a lovable couple, and complete each other. It doesn’t hurt that the chemistry is also hot! I’ll admit, half way through I had forgotten about the nightclub, Abbi’s friends and the rest of the story. I was so caught up in the growing relationship between Abbi and Ryan, that once they admitted their feelings, I was happy and could have ended it there (though that would have left loads of unanswered questions). The plot was a little predictable at times for me, though this didn’t take anything away from the story, and I loved seeing how the author got from A to B. I’ll definitely be watching how this series develops. I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
