Wet Paint Reviews
2.5 stars. It was just ok for me. Kept waiting for a bit more to happen in each scene. Ended in a cliffhanger, but I wasn't interested enough to continue on. :-/
Congratulations to my Gulf Coast mommy's club friend for publishing her first book! Yes, I know the author, but I paid for this book myself and was not asked to review!I've read quite a few books by new, self published authors, and must say that I am pretty impressed with this debut novella. Sera Breen delivers a rich and textured story. Some of the best prose was simply her descriptions of Southern life and atmosphere. Good characterization that I am eager to see the author evolve. This is "soft erotica" and there were a few places that simply left the reader hanging (Come on! Give us the goods!), slow at times, and it does end on a sort of cliff hanger, some readers may be frustrated because it simply stops, lots of dangling threads. All in all, a good debut that definitely screams that there's more to come. And I just wanted to mention her brief ending notes about her life and family. Too adorable!
I’m thankful there are so many lesbian stories out today but it’s easy for some to slip through the cracks. Therefore I hope this review provides the opportunity for others to discover this author as well as her talented story. I was completely captivated and a little shocked when I came to the end and realized I sat still for over 3 hours reading and didn’t touch my cell phone or computer once. The way the author captured the characters’ personalities and emotions came flowing through the pages and pulled me completely into their world. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Duluce and Savannah and the rest of their friends. I only wish I could read the next installment now.
I have a paperback copy and wasn't a fan of the huge gaps of space between each and every paragraph. I had to force myself through the first half of the book, but the story picked up as I continued reading. Although the characters were flawed, I did find chemistry between Dulce and Savanah. I was disappointed with the ending but if there is a sequel, I will be picking it up just to see where the story goes from here.
