This is the second part of this saga. I liked how the author gave a good introduction to where the story is so we can pick this book up and keep reading. Jason is left heart broken when his childhood sweetheart May leaves for college. He finds himself falling in love with their friend Abby. He marries her and starts a family. His happiness is short lived when Abby dies. When May comes back all his feelings for her come back. However the secret she is hiding could jeopardise their happiness. This is a quick short read. Personally I'd like to re read this as a full story. That said I enjoyed the story.

Disclaimer: I was given a copy of Calling You Home by the author in exchange for nothing more than an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.Jason lives with his son, in the house he built years ago for him and his future family. The love of Jason's life; May; told him just after he finished building the house that she has been accepted into college. Knowing he has to do right by May, he doesn't tell her that the house is for them.So May leaves for college. Jason is heartbroken, he finds solace in their mutual friend Abby; whom he marries, lives with and builds a family with.Jason is now on his own due to the death of his Abby, he is bringing up his son by himself. Jason's best friend; Drew; calls him to tell him that May has come home. Jason hopes that he can now have a second chance with her, if she will let him explain what was said before she left.May, however, has a secret of her own. A secret that she has been hiding from Jason for so long that it might just destroy his love for her completely. Will May let Jason explain the night they split up? How will Jason react when he discovers May's secret? Can there be a HEA???You'll have to bag yourself a copy to find out!!In Calling You Home we meet Jason. Jason is a country boy through and through. He is determined that now May has come home he can make things right and they can have their second chance to be together and be happy. Jason is very emotional and he wears his heart on his sleeve; especially when it involves May. We also meet Drew; who is Jason's best friend, and of course May; who has been Jason love since childhood. This novella is all about Jason, we don't really see much of anyone else. May seems to have her reasons for doing what she did; but there's not much of an explanation as yet. This is a very quick and compact novella, which is very easy to read. I think the overall story line and plot have potential. It is very a very emotional especially for Jason. I was certainly engrossed in this book. I'd recommend giving Calling You Home in you enjoy short emotional stories. I'll certainly be keeping an eye open for book 2.

Calling You Home is a quick read that draws you into the story quickly only to leave you wanting more.I don't do spoilers, I hate them I want to read a story to find out what happens, so no spoilers here!!Jason is a recent widow trying to raise his infant son, work his farm and help out his neighbors. One of which happens to be his high school sweetheart, Mary's family.Jason has always loved Mary, he did what he thought was right 7 years ago sending her away, but she's always been in his heart. He's hiding a secret from Mary that may upset her.7 years after leaving for college Mary is back. She's home but not alone. Mary is full of anger still from the way things with Jason ended, but she has a secret, a huge secret that will rock Jason's world. Honestly, I disliked Mary a bit do to her laying into Jason like she did and the behavior of the other person who came home with her, when her secret is soooo much bigger and more important than his. I'm impatiently tapping my fingers awaiting the second part of this story, I cannot wait to see where this leads. The dialogue with Jason will pull at your heart strings, his secret is a good thing, at least to me, he put Mary first and left himself to suffer. I like Jason so far and hope the second book brings us a happier ending with the secrets. I can't say much more without giving away too much, but this is a great prequel to the next book and well worth the read!

If following every emotion and thought of a character “for a day in the life of” is your thing, then this novella is for you. If you want a man who wears his heart on his sleeve with much angst and soul searching then Jason is your kind of man. Country boy through and through Jason is determined to reunite with his long lost May on the farm where they grew up and fell in love. He vividly remembers every nuance of their days together 7 long years ago.“Jason waited seven years to make things right with May. Perhaps Jason’s final chance to change things finally arrived. Drew remembered all the times Jason suffered in silence, after May first left town. He watched Jason struggled not to dash to Chicago and bring May home. Maybe they needed this. Maybe this was their moment.”For me it was a little too much angst, a little too much dwelling on every feeling for a very long protracted couple of days. It needs a bit more editing as shown by the above paragraph, but overall it’s fairly well written. I found Jason a little too much of an emotional basket case for my tastes, his emotions leaning to the extreme if a bit feminine, but ladies he might just be your kind of guy. All in all it was a pretty easy read if a bit myopic. CheryleFree ebook given in exchange for an honest review.

Now that she’s back her secrets have come home to roost. How will Jason react when he finds out what she has been hiding?A really good book, which you can describe as short but very, very sweet. Good suspense, wonderful main characters created with passion. I enjoyed it a lot and I'm looking forward to Kristal's next novels. There's no doubt that she is a wonderful author, she can create emotional and passionate stories with such ease that only some really great authors out there are given such talent and "Calling You Home" is a perfect example. It's a short novella that is bound to make your lunch break or weekend afternoon sweeter and mellow. Give it a try.

Great details in the writing. This isn't my normal genre. It was a short read with hopes of the rest of the story to follow.I felt i got to know to know Jason, Abby, and May. Total eclipse of the heart, that even I painfully felt. I do feel it was a very short read and wanted more. Very content and happy with the story line. Excellent expression on the authors behalf. all in all it was a good read.

A short read for those who do not have time for a big book! So heartfelt for us! We enjoyed Jason so much. The country theme really hit home for us since we are from West Virginia! This book is a reminder to us, to cherish the ones you love and put their needs before your own!

When I started this book I did not realize it was basically just a sample. It is only 48 pages. It leaves you wanting more. I think if it were longer the characters and plot could have been developed more.

It was truly a pleasure to sit down and read Calling You Home by Kristal McKerrington. It is a very sweet, emotional journey for Jason and May as we watch their lives from childhood through high school. Their story is told as the history or memory of Jason when he learns his first love, little May, has returned home from Chicago. This is a very short, quick read but is fraught with emotions. Kristal has created characters that I can almost see when I close my eyes. Their story is one I got caught up in from the beginning and I am truly looking forward to the next installment of this story, Remember Me; Jason and May's Story, Book 2.I definitely recommend this book if you want an evening of enjoyable reading.

A bit too short of a novella for me. I saw potential here, i did, it had the makings of some good characters. Found the storyline a little overly done in places. 'Or over acted/sweet/gushy emotional then'. Hard to explain what I mean, but Jason didn't seem genuine in some of the emotions, a bit too much. There were some editing issues but like I said, it did have potential and I could see me really liking this series if these were addressed, but this is just my opinion.
