The cover of this book hides the fact that....it is SEXY with a capital S! Heidi Rice's latest book is Rice at her hottest and sexiest best - and that's saying something. You may need an oiled man wafting an Ostrich feather fan over you as you read this ;). I do believe Carter is my current favourite hero. And Gina is a captivating complicated bad girl heroine who hides a mushy heart of gold behind a veneer of defiant confidence.Gina and Carter shared a torrid night of passion ten years before when Gina blatantly seduced the gorgeous young man who was about to get married to a prudish stuck up Southern Belle. But, he was also the brother of one of Gina's closest friends, and when she finds out what happened, Gina's and her relationship is irrevocably damaged. After the catastrophic fallout of that night, Gina grows up fast. When she meets Carter again ten years later, he too has grown up and is now divorced. They are now both single, available and still hot for each other. But can Carter forgive Gina for luring him to betray his then fiancee? Or does she even have anything to be sorry for? This is a sexy, heart-pounding romance filled with enough sizzling electricity to power a small country. My only complaint was that it had to end...

I rarely give 5 stars, what can I say? I guess I'm just one of those people that think there is always room for improvement. However, this book was five star worthy literally from the first page and maintained it to the very last! I couldn't find any fault with it at all.Well, actually that is not necessarily true, the ending bit was a little cheesy for me but somehow Heidi Rice managed to pull it off. Even taking the Mickey out of it herself with the line "'Someone pinch me, I think I've been transported into a chick flick'"Not only does Heidi write with the kind of wry, almost self deprecating, and quite British style, she also manages to include funny little references like Planet Zod, and a galaxy far, far away. And I better not even get started on the fact that this was one helluva sexy book. (Believe me, it is eye-poppingly so!).And what is even better is that wrapped in that amazing package I have just waxed lyrical about is a really great story. The characters are perfect, especially the heroine. She is a very real character, with major flaws and is a totally modern-girl. Gina is the best crafted heroine I have read in a long while. This is a brave plot, and the romance between these two characters as well as the style of this book might well push a lot of people's 'NO' button. I, personally, like reading something that is a little out-there.Every single thing about this book works, I know I'm going on and on now. I'll stop soon I promise. I don't want to go into too much detail about the actual story, as you really need to read it for yourself. It is fun, flirty, romantic, at times tear-worthy, absorbing, and out-and-out outrageous! In short, Fab-u-LOUS!Originally posted at http://everyday-is-the-same.blogspot....

Every woman has a "I am bad" side, for some it is rather mild but for others it can get pretty much very out of control. And in the end they are left with a huge mess that does not seem is ever going to go away. So the key of course might be to stay good and far away from bad, but we all know there is NO fun in that, as the song goes Girls just wanna have FUN! In the new Heidi Rice read we meet Gina, she can be bad and I do mean very bad, so bad in fact that she will sleep with about to get married sex on legs Carter! To make it worse Carter is her best friend's brother, talk about awkward! So we have the almost destruction of a marriage before it ever even really starts and the putting of enormous strain on a friendship, thus leaving things more than just a tad unresolved and uncomfortable. Fast forward into the future and we are right back where Gina and Carter started, all hot for each other and so ready to jump into bed and pick up where they left off. With Carter being divorced and Gina so ready to jump him, there should be no problem, right?Wrong, reunions are never easy, there is always a hangup hiding somewhere and in this case the hangup is a secret, the real question is will their love for each other withstand the secret or will the secret tear them apart this time to never reunite, for we all know some-things can never be forgiven. The character of Gina was awesome! I loved that she goes after what she wants but not the manner she does it in, sleeping with a already engaged man is kind of slutty, but yes in this read it fit with her personality of when being bad go big or go home.If she sounds like the kind of heroine that you would rather not read, you would be wrong, for as bad as she is, she is also that good. The author lets her character grow up and the message of learn from your past mistakes is very clear. Gina was captivating, fun and I found myself totally loving her.The character of Carter, was such a typical man, easily seduced by Gina, afterall she is very tempting and his bride to be was a real prude, but yes still very typical male behaviour, so was not overly nuts about it, but as I have learned from this author's previous books, there is always a reason and something better to come from a not-so-much-loving-this-hero. And the author totally blew me away when she let him crawl out and pull out all the stops, and he quickly turned into one of those "sweet talk me all you want darling am all your's" hero's and he quickly turned into my favourite character ever written by this author! The dialogue was sweet, emotional, funny, sexy and full of life, yes truly my dear reading friends I could feel every emotion as they flowed through the characters words, very powerful writing Heidi! The entire read was exceptionally well written and at no stage did it the author ever bore me, it all was so very yummy and deliciously good that I could not put this read down, simply had to, no needed to go on, to get to the end and the fireworks I knew for sure were coming. I am taking away a message of making rash decisions in the heat of the moment is not always bad, however if you take the time to stop and truly think about what you are about to act on and the repercussions it can cause you would see that your future might not be the one you dreamed of. And of course when love rolls your way a second time around, think twice before you hang onto a secret that could destroy a love so kind, so strong and so powerful that when the secret is left unspoken you will never know just how forgiving that love can be.I highly recommend this read, it was fun, flirty, sexy with a capital S, sizzling, passionate and just plain awesome! Review can also be found at my blog: Jackie's Book World :) When she's very, very bad Gina Carrington knows exactly how to have fun! But when she sleeps with her friend's brother, the off-limits Carter, she quickly discovers she's overstepped the mark. From the very beginning Gina and Carter have a strong connection towards each other. They were young when they met and Gina wasn't expecting anymore more from Carter other than a casual fling. A week or so before his wedding, Carter wasn't expecting to cheat on his soon-to-wife with his sister's best friend. Now ten years later, they once again reunite for Gina's best friend's wedding. A lot has changed in those ten years and neither of them is ready to let go of what happened in their past. As they start to get closer, new secrets will emerged and perhaps new love. I'm very grateful to the author for letting me read this book, it was amazing! I had read Girl Least Likely to Marry(book 2) and loved it. I liked how the author incorporates older characters into this book. The interactions between Gina and Carter left me wanting for more at the end. The story line was really good and the book was very well-written. It had my attention from the first page to the very end. Although the characters don't go through a huge character development, Gina was the one that was able to let go of the past and confront what she has been kept from Carter. On the other hand, Carter's character made me giddy with his southern charm. He definitely made the pace of the story fun and entertaining. The very ending was exceptional, it was nice to see how Gina's friends have found love. I can't wait to read Last Groom Standing(4th book), it's going to be great. I recommend everyone to read this series, you will not regret it. *I received a copy of this book from the author in return of a honest review*

Secret affairs and dark pasts always make for gripping reading, so revisiting an affair that went wrong sounds like the perfect plot for the third in the series. The whole Gina-Carter thing had been hinted at and set up in the previous two books (The Unexpected Wedding Guest and Girl Least Likely to Marry) so I’d been dying to find out what had happened. And when it did I was torn. Torn between Gina, who was reacting to Carter’s rejection, and Marnie, Carter’s sister who lashed out the only way she knew how...http://exploitsofachicklitaficionado....

4 starsThe plot line was interesting. The main characters were enjoyable to read. I especially liked it if it has got to do with second chance and in this case, it was utterly good! However, there are some things that aren't quite clear though and it's revolved around Marnie and Gina, Marnia and Carter. If those were explained in the book, I think I might've missed it. But they weren't! And I hope as well those answers I want will accompany in the next book. And, it's Marnie's book! Excited!Read on your own peril.

It’s an unusual combination of characters. Okay. I’ll say it. Male Virgin. You heard me. Oh, and the self-proclaimed “Tramp.” Hook, line, and sinker I had to know how this was going to turn out. And turn out it did. Now, it’s unusual at best to run into a male virgin in romance novels. It’s even more rare to run into male virgins who aren’t in some way scarred or bitter about their status at some point in the book. What I find great about Maid of Dishonor is that we’re introduced to Carter as this inexperienced fellow who then, at the hands of our dastardly heroine, loses his status, not his emotional stability. I love the combination of these two characters as well. Gina is essentially playing the role of the rake here. She’s going to prove something about love and sex to Carter and burns herself in the process. It’s absolutely fantastic to watch the turn of tables going on. Too, I like that Carter is not in anyway intimidated or otherwise confined by Gina’s sexuality. Maybe a little surprised is a better way to describe it.It plays a role in a series that touches on some of the darker elements of life. Like I said, Gina is a rake rather than a virgin. In this story, she’s also the “Tramp” who messes everything up. What I like about this story in particular is that Gina has to come to terms with herself (her younger self and her currently in-progress model). I like that it’s a process. Just because Gina has 10 years between the mistake she makes at the start of the novel and the present doesn’t mean that she’s not still messing up a bit in the same ways. The deflowering of Carter weighs heavily on Gina in more than one way (no! I won’t give you any spoilers!), but when it comes down to it, and to Carter on high-flirt alert, she falls into old patterns. What I like about this is that the consequences of her actions and her subsequent attempts to alter her life really, really hit on a realistic struggle. I think most readers, former “Tramps” or not, can really identify with the process of trying to change yourself to help yourself. It’s not easy or 100% over with from the moment of decision. Love, for these characters and readers, is not always cheerfully rose-hued. I can really appreciate that about this series. The Mystery Studmuffin. I just…am so amused by this. In moment of girlfriend ribbing and curiosity, out pops this term. There’s lots of little choice tidbits in this book like “The Mystery Studmuffin,” but…I love this one. I like that Rice’s heroines play with each other even in moments of stress. Real friendships are messy and the Awesomes are definitely messy. I think that really comes out Maid of Dishonor with Gina and her attempt to stumble through patching herself and her friendships up. There’s a sense that she cares and has always cared, but can’t stop herself from stepping all over landmines (or lobbing a few grenades herself) anyway.Long story short? Buy this book. It’s so worth a read and how can you not be in love with the cuteness of the female rake and her poor little conquest Carter? On a personal note, as I discovered this novel, I also discovered Heidi Rice and her wonderful plethora of my favorite addiction…baby mama drama! Joy! When Wedding Season is over, it’s time for baby fever, you know.Disclaimer: An ARC copy was provided.

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2013/08...In college, Gina Carrington was known as the “bad girl,” and she made no apologies for her naughty behavior. But the consequences of falling for – and sleeping with – her best friend’s engaged brother, Carter Price, were almost too much for even the tough-as-nails Gina to handle. It’s been ten years since the blowup that cost Gina one of her friends (and a heck of a lot more), and the sassy Brit is more than ready to put the past behind her. But while preparing for her friend’s wedding, Gina runs into Carter again. The Southern charmer who once melted the defenses around Gina’s heart is now single and hotter than ever… and this time he’s the one in pursuit. Gina swore she’d never risk her heart again, but the chemistry between her and Carter proves to be too much for her to resist. But what will happen when their fling turns into something more?Author Heidi Rice is sure to keep you on your toes with Maid of Dishonor! This fast-paced, engaging romance is filled with decadent sensuality, sharp-edged repartee, heartbreak, and second chances.Having been intrigued by Gina since the first Wedding Season book, The Unexpected Wedding Guest, I started her story with high expectations. Ms. Rice definitely did not disappoint. Gina was everything I’d hoped for and more. She’s bright, bold, and with each layer of her character you pull back, she simply becomes more and more endearing. She’s been hurt so many times that the walls around her heart are high and she pushes people away in an attempt to shield herself from further hurt. Ms. Rice broke my heart over and over again with her; Gina’s sassy exterior hides a vulnerable side that made me yearn for her to find love. Carter is the one person who truly sees through Gina’s mask. I loved that Ms. Rice showed their first meeting because I could see why Gina fell for the sensitive young man Carter once was, even though he was off-limits. Ten years after she first fell for him, Carter’s lost a lot of his innocence. For most of Maid of Dishonor he’s a dominating alpha male who has no problem steamrolling Gina’s objections when he sets out to seduce her. The passion between them is ragingly hot, but I did mourn the loss of Carter’s sweeter side a bit when his alpha side got a bit too overpowering for my personal taste.Maid of Dishonor is the third book in the multi-author Wedding Season quartet, but it can be read as a standalone. Gina’s fellow Awesomes all play strong supporting roles, and it was lovely to watch them come together to plan a wedding for Cassie (the heroine of book two, Girl Least Likely to Marry). Ms. Rice did leave me hanging regarding the strain in both Gina and Carter’s relationships with Carter’s sister, Marnie. However, I’m assuming this was done on purpose, as Marnie is the heroine of the next book, Last Groom Standing.Gina alone could make me love Maid of Dishonor, but Ms. Rice provides plenty of reasons to adore this book. I’ve read Maid of Dishonor twice already and I know I’ll be coming back for more.

Reviewed by RachelBook provided by the authorOriginally posted at Romancing the BookThis book actually fits in a series, something I didn’t quite pick up on right away, but by the end of the book I wanted DESPERATELY to read the rest of the books that connect with this one.Gina’s always been the life of the party, on the outside everything is “fun” and exciting, but she’s actually quite insecure on the inside…she uses her “facade” as a way to protect herself and it appear’s she’s quite good at it. Until Carter enters onto the scene. Carter has always been off limits to Gina, after all he’s her brother’s best friend, but one night of fun couldn’t hurt, right? The tables soon turn as their one night stand turns into a one night disaster and here’s where things get kind of…different, at least for a contemporary novel…we’re left with her being late for her period and the book suddenly fast forward ten years!During this time Carter’s gotten married but he’s a changed man, the woman he married made him feel bad about himself, she was a prude and made him feel like less of a man in that marriage. As the group of friends (that was once torn part mainly by Gina) comes back together again for another friends wedding, Gina and Carter are once again reunited, and this, ladies and gentleman is where we “cue” in the hotness.Carter’s a changed man..he knows exactly how to pleasure a woman and exactly what woman he wants that to be and its’ Gina. But Gina’s changed as well, she’s more confident, self assured, and its taken her years to get over Carter. She’s hiding secrets, ones that effect him. SO MANY TIMES I wanted to be like PLEASE just tell him what happened. I think that’s the hardest part about this book, a lot of the story line is based in what characters refuse to say because of fear of rejection.I loved Carter but I was so irritated with him in the end, Gina finally stands up for herself, bless her heart, and he says HORRIBLE things to her and then just takes off. Luckily the book doesn’t end there. What I liked: Some very hot and sensual scenes that spiced up the pages like they were ready to catch fire. What I didn’t like: I’m not a huge fan of “mis-communication” books but this one was still really good!I highly recommend it and would read it again!

Carter sure knows how to lay it on thick, "you've improved with age," he said, his tone low and amused. "Like a fine wine." The boy sure is damn cocky, "second of all. You might have been my first, but I wasn't that much of a sap. You didn't take me, I took you." Heat cascaded through her at the seductive growl, which made her even more aware of the muscled thigh pressing against her hip." He likes to give ultimatums, "take them off, or I rip them off." He let his gaze drift to the delicate red lace. "Your call, but they look pricey." Sometimes the boy sure asks dumb questions when it comes to Gina's feelings and what she might be thinking, "what's the matter? Is it the panties?" Cater asked, then reached for the hotel phone. 'Don't sweat it. I'll order you a new pair." The boy is always in prime working order in the morning: "Well, now sugar. That's just a natural male reaction to waking up beside a beautiful..." The suggestive comment drifted to a halt as he squinted into the sunlight, then jerked to a sitting position and thrust a hand through his hair. "Damn it, what time it is?""About ten, at a conservative estimate." He swore, whipped back the sheet and jumped out of bed, protective hands cupping his morning erection as he raced to the dresser.I loved this book and I loved Carter, once the boy came to his senses.

Maid of Dishonor is the third novel of The Wedding Season series. The series follows four college roommates as they reunite for a wedding. Maid of Dishonor brings Gina Carrington and Carter Price back together. Gina and Carter had a one-night stand when Carter visited his sister -- and Gina's roommate -- Marnie. That Carter was engaged to Marnie's best friend at the time helped to create a rift between Gina and Marnie that has never properly healed. After hearing that Carter is now divorced, Gina decides to visit him to apologize for her behavior. Carter and his fiancee had a chastity pact, and by having sex with Gina, Carter broke it. Carter, however, believes his night with Gina was the best thing to ever happen to him. He held onto it during and after his marriage and believes they should give their attraction a go. Maid of Dishonor furthers the on-going arc of the series and brings up what will probably be a subplot for the fourth and final book, Last Groom Standing.

Maid of DishonourI was very pleased to receive my copy of this book from Goodreads.com.I spent several happy hours sitting in the autumn sunshine reading it instead of gardening! The main character Gina Carrington is one of four close college friends and the story tells of her meeting up again with a very charismatic man, Carter Price, with whom she had a one night stand ten years previously.(Pause for breath!!)There are four books in the series The Wedding Season, each centreing on a different member of the "Awesome Foursome" This is the second book I have read, and I was very pleased to renew my acquaintance with the other girls. The plot is what one would expect, but evolves very sympathetically, and the spicy sex scenes are titillating without being overdone. All in all, a very pleasant undemanding read.

Four stars for sure. The chemistry between Gina and Carter was hot to say the least. And I think Heidi did a great job in writing out the characters. In this book, I honestly grew to love Gina. She was a bit too blunt and hard-core for me in the first two books, but we see a softer side in this book. Carter on the other hand is one of those guys where you either love him or hate him. There really isn't much between. The majority of the book I went from swooning over him, to wanting to punch him in that handsome face. But towards the end, he finally won me over for good. Should of known that southern charm would win me over in the end. :) The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think it glossed over too much of the past. Things like Gina's father especially, which shaped her. But overall, the book was great. The secondary characters were of course great. Can't wait to read the next one for sure!

I received this book for free from Goodreads First Reads. I enjoyed Maid of Dishonor more than I thought I would, if I'm being honest. I liked the fact that the female characters were strong, powerful women, who could do things for themselves, as well as the fact that not every woman was from the same place; it added a little variety to the story from a typical romance novel. Furthermore, I thought the inclusion of the hardships experienced by Gina gave the book a more realistic element, as it approaches topics that do, unfortunately, occur and affect the relationships between people. I really enjoyed reading this book, and would not hesitate to read another book by Heidi Rice. Whilst I am fairly unfamiliar with this genre, I think that Rice has written the novel well; as a reader, we empathise with Gina, and that can be very hard to achieve as an author.

I received my copy from Goodreads First Reads.I thought this was a fun and quick read. I was particularly interested to read this I've read previous books in this series and I've always wanted to know what Gina was actually like.I was quite disappointed that the story was so short and everything felt a bit rushed but there was chemistry between Gina and Carter and no one can deny it. They are perfect together but sometimes I felt Carter didn't actually love her... The ending was predictable and to be honest, I'm not complaining. If either one of them suddenly died then.... I would very angry.I think this is my second book I've read by Heidi Rice and I thoroughly enjoyed!Love to read more from her... and also, I really want to read about the Gina and Carter's wedding! As I said before, quick and fun book to read. Loved it

This was s cute but heart wrenching story at times. It's only the second that I have read in this series & out of order, but I liked it. Gina had a lot of fire in her character, a real tough girl but not. Carter I didn't like too much in the beginning because he seemed to be arrogant. They meet up after a decade of a one night together that kind of ruined both their lives. He was to marry his high school sweetheart but two wks before she seduces him, he runs back to marry the girl & ends up divorced & now a playboy. She ended up going home pregnant only to be kicked out of her home, then losing the baby. Gina decided it was time to apologize for ruining his marriage only to find herself in another relationship with him. All is not what it seems, pasts come out & things change. I enjoyed this book & will be getting the others to finish the series.

"Your butt looks real cute when you're mad."Gina and Carter have a history. 10 years earlier, just weeks before he got married, Gina had a one night stand with Carter. It caused the breakup of the Awesome Foursome, Reese, Cassie, Gina, and Carter's sister Marnie, who were roommates. Now ten years later as the girls get back together for Cassie's and then Reese's weddings, Gina apologizes to Marnie and Carter. Only Carter isn't ready to apologize and move on. He wants to see where they can take the relationship now that he's divorced and his own man. And Gina can't seem to say no.One more book to go in The Wedding Season series.

It's more like 3.5 stars. I honestly rated it high because I liked the author's writing style. The opening was a bit shocking and almost lost me. It's kind of hard to love a heroine who does that but the author fleshed out her flaws and the flaws of the hero in a way that made me care.In the end it's a romance about the redemption of two flawed people who got off on the wrong foot and wrecked a lot of relationships along the way. I guess I'm just a sucker for redemption and second chances. Kudos to the author for keeping the pace hot and quick. The ending felt a little too rushed and abrupt. Would have liked that part to be a little longer.

Good read. The hero and heroine have a past, both with each other and family issues. They've both been haunted by a one-night encounter back when she was in college and now, 10 years later, they have a chance to resolve things. Except she has a secret and they are both leery of actual emotion. There's not really enough angst to suit me, because the space is taken up with sex. Not that I have anything against that, but not at the expense of actual story. Still I enjoyed the story. It's worth reading.

Sweet and steamy. Heidi Rice delivers once again. Gina was a sassy heroine with a hidden soft side that really came out toward the end of the book. Carter was a delicious southern male. The sex scenes were well done. And yet there was a connection between Gina and Carter that was really felt. My only complaint was that the book wasn't long enough. This book really could have used more to really dig into Gina's problems with her father and even her (view spoiler)[miscarriage (hide spoiler)].

I won this on the real readers giveaway and I am so glad I did. This was not the run of the mill romance and when Gina slept with her best friends brother she thought it was the end of the world especially as he was getting married a few days later.10 years later we are with Gina when she bumps into Carter again, the sexual chemistry is still there but her friendship with Carters sister is just getting back on track. The plot inevitably goes into the will they/won't they but it is very well written and has some spicy moments as well.

I won this book in a giveaway but OMG didn't realise its a Mills & Boon book! There are not what I thought they would be like from when I was growing up. You think their for old ladies about old romance stories boy was I wrong!lol. The book was very raunchy and kept me in suspense waiting to know what would happen next and who with! I would definitely recommend this book the only downfall is its a bit short.

Oh I loved everything about this book from start to finish and never wanted it to end.I love the 'past lovers reconciling' trope and Heidi Rice executed it perfectly in the latest instalment in the wonderful 'The Wedding Series'.Sizzling chemistry, the past overcome, sexy characters - what more could you possible want in a contemporary romance, except more of the same?!.... Please Heidi Rice can I have some more?

Wow this series is a great read. So far I have enjoyed all three of the wedding series. Just thinking about picking up the fourth with Marnie and Dylan's story. If you are looking for a quick read with some fun added in read this series it has The Wedding Dress Diaries by Aimee Carson and The Unexpected Wedding Guest by Aimee Carson as well as Girl Least Likely to Marry by Amy Andrews, Maid of Dishonour by Heidi Rice and Last Groom Standing by Kimberly Lang.

I loved the dialog between these two.....I love great banter - add in a southern drawl in a verbal battle against a naughty brit and you've just raised the bar on the familiar from hate to heat plot line. The only thing missing was an explanation as to Gina's flu at the end....could history have repeated itself? I hope to find out in book #4

This was closer to 3 1/2 stars. I have a real aversion to (view spoiler)[undisclosed babies, for any reason whatsoever. (hide spoiler)] That said, I enjoyed this story, though I felt some of the details were left out due to short word-count. I liked Gina much more than her hero, though. He could have done with a bit more groveling and maybe a good spanking.

I enjoyed a protagonist who prided herself about being a feminist, and was loyal to the philosophy of women's emancipation. While Carter was another story, I did not find him pathetic in any way, but entertaining to read. He was overbearing at times, maybe even unintentionally clingy, but it was a good read.
