A different kind of love story. I had the pleasure of reading this story when it was an ARC. It has since been split into two books so I had to buy this first one because of the cover and I am so looking forward to the next one.I must say, I am very impressed with the way Ms. Carter writes and kudos for taking on what I think is such a difficult subject matter. It's not a story you could ever imagine and you just need to read it to understand why.It is a love story, but the love is between a gay man and a straight woman and their relationship is anything but cut and dry. Not your typical boy meets girl, fall in love, get married blah, blah, blah. There are many twists in the story and I found myself always rooting for Paulie because Ms. Carter has made him so likeable you just can't help but fall for the guy. At the time I read this story, I remember while shopping one day and hearing Bruno Mars' song, "Just The Way You Are" and instantly thought of Paulie Bingham. When a story has the capability of pulling me in at times when I shouldn't have even been thinking about it, that's remarkable writing.

I feel like I've read it all over the years, but I truly believe that I've never quite read a book like "Unmasking Paulie Bingham". Officially this would fall under the romance genre, but like many of Anne Carter's (Pam Ripling's) novels, it is so much more than that. I honestly had no idea where this story was going. The love story between Paulie (homosexual but maybe sometimes bi-sexual glam rocker) and Kate was unlikely but sweet. Their relationship transcended sex, and was more about loyalty, friendship and parenting their child. But this isn't a story where they walk off into the sunset! Oh no! Paulie, at his core, is gay and struggles with the balancing that lifestyle and his commitment to his wife. Can they stay together and stay sane and true to themselves? Can they handle the idea of each of them finding love somewhere else, and still stay supportive of each other? Then BOOM! Paulie is arrested for the murder of one of his lovers! At the turn of every page, I just kept shaking my head. But the thing is...it is compulsive. I had moments when I was frustrated with both Kate and Paulie. Kate can be an enabler, and Paulie immature and selfish. But they are adorable and I grew invested in their welfare by the end. As bizarre and unorthodox as their ultimate situation was, it worked. I'm dying to know whether the author actually KNOWS people like this. Now, on to Part II of the story "For the Love of Katrina Bingham"...

The author gave me this book for me to read on Kindle for a fair exchange for a review.I had a friend who fell in love with a gay man, they married. So I wasn't adverse to reading this novel. Then I realized that the author has a 2nd book in this series due out.I didn't know really what to expect as its a subject matter that no one hears about every day do they? The author has handled the characters in this book beautifully. The emotion ride for both of them was so evident. I could feel the vibes coming out of the page with each one I turned. To say I liked this book is an under statement, I LOVED this book. Don't be put off by the unusual sense of the love story as its much more than it appears. The cover is great, the flow of writing is easy to read, my one hate was that I couldn't sit down and just read it, I resented people interupting me. This is a true and honest account of how I feel towards this story, and the author. I would defo read more by her. Off to start the next one is this series!

OH MY GOSH!!! I fell in love with this book. The storyline is incredible. The characters are so beautiful. Unmasking Paulie Bingham is like a tragedy, love story and mystery all rolled into one. I ended up reading this enitre book in one long night and loved every moment of it.From the start, Anne drew me in. I love, love, love Glam and Hair Bands so that was a plus. The fact that the two main characters share this intense type of love is amazing and the understanding and type of relationship they have phenomenal! The way this book ended left me happy yet sad that it ended BUT this is only the start to what I imagine will be a truly totally out of this world series! Kudos to you Anne on such an amazing read!

I loved reading Unmasking Paulie Bingham, it was a little out of the norm when it comes to romance but I feel thats what really made this story. No relationship is perfect, everyone has their flaws and I think reading this book shows us exactly that. Kate and Paule are not your typical couple, their family and marriage is as dysfunctional as they come, maybe even more so. I enjoyed reading this story it was a nice reminder that even through all the bad, we are still able to make things work, even if they don't always go our way and even in the most craziest relationships there is still hope for something. We all have hard times and just have to learn to move on or deal with them as they come. Paulie is a gay man always has been and always will be. That doesnt mean what he feels for his wife and daughter will ever change, nor will he. He can't hide who or what he is no matter his feelings. Only thing is although he wants a man he just cant seem to let his wife go, he still loves her and knows shes the best thing thats ever happened to him.

Not your typical romance where couple meet, conflict keeps them apart, conflict resolved, live happily ever after. Ms. Carter steps out of the box to weave an unconventional romance with complex characters and complicated lives. It begs the question if a happy ending is possible, but then again can a couple such as Paulie and Katrina have it all. I enjoy a book that challenges my thoughts and piques my curiosity to learn more on the subject. Ms. Carter was successful on both counts. On another note, I do have to blame her for the lack of sleep. Just when I thought things were somewhat coming to a resolution she threw in a plot twist. I had to keep going to see where she was taking the reader. And having experienced the time of glam rock, I enjoyed the memories invoked by reading the book. I look forward to the next book to find out who 'did it', but more so where all the characters end up. Will my assumptions match hers? PS - This would be a great book for group discussion.

This was a great summer read! The “lifestyles of the rich and famous” setting offered a fun fantasy escape, while the characters remained relatable with their imperfections and struggles in love and life. I really enjoyed getting to know Paulie and Kate and was pulling for both of them all the way. And, without giving away the ending, I especially appreciated how they negotiated their relationship as it developed. This book was more than a love story, but the main theme that sticks with me is the wonders and possibilities of unconditional love.

Wow! I mean, I'm not even sure what to say. Just Wow! Unmasking Paulie Bingham by Anne Carter is not your run of the mill love story, it is so much more. The emphasis in this book is about the unconditional love and over-riding commitment between Paulie and Kate. Unfortunately, Paulie is gay, and famous, creating an entirely new set of problems. I really loved this book and am looking forward to book 2.

This wasn't a 'normal' boy meets girl & falls in love story. It was so much more than I expected. I could repeat what the description of this story says but I won't!! All ill say is this is a must read!I received this arc in return for an honest review. I would have gladly paid to read this superb piece of art.I NEED this author to hurry up & release the second book:)
