This made me sad/mad because I didn't know how much I liked this little town until my opinion changed in this book. When I first started Bluegrass State of Mind I thought I would hate how gossipy and close the town was but by the end of the book, and in all the books after, it was less invasive and more comforting how the town was always there like a huge involved family. But then there was THIS book. I love Morgan from the very beginning to the end and once Miles was grown up I liked him a lot too. (That's the only reason I rounded up to 3 stars) But the town and especially Paige (who I loved before) were horrible. I wish Morgan would of went around and popped all their tires and keyed their cars before the end of the book but of course she just wanted their acceptance. I at least would of expected the wise old ladies if the town to recognize her adolescent behavior as a cry for help. But they just added to her neglect and torment when she was young and in need of acceptance not scorn, so they can't exactly be referred to as the "fairy godmothers" anymore. I hated all of Paige's parts, especially because in her book she was shown as an outcast from her peers in the town. So why is she such a bitch in this book? She's way too worried about her brothers whittle high school heart even after he tells her to get over it! Not to mention the high school cheerleader chick is married elsewhere now. But I think the biggest annoyance was the end. Because all she wanted was acceptance her whole life she chooses to forgive and forget which is fine, I guess. But the town isn't repentant enough for me after they get her back story. They just act like their acceptance will forgive all. Like it's just so big of them to accept her into their judgmental group. It erased my positive view of the whole town. Hopefully I can get over it in the next book. If not I can always just skip to Ahmed's book and call it done.

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews4.5 StarsAs much as I love erotic romance, I also love sweet romance with hot overtones and Kathleen Brooks has a real knack for writing books like this. Between her original Bluegrass series and this one, she’s provided us with couples who thrive despite some great odds and she also manages to bring to the forefront some real life issues that adds realism to her books. One thing is for sure, even after six books I am still enthralled with the town of Keeneston, Kentucky and it’s kooky but lovable residents. This book begins with a prologue, one that I’m extremely thankful for because it allows us to see the incident that changed the direction of both the hero and heroine’s lives. Throughout the book we are treated to flashbacks of both of these characters as well. I’m not a big fan of flashbacks in books, movies, or television shows but I will say these were absolutely necessary in letting us see where these characters have come from and how these incidents shaped them into the people they are today. I will warn you that most of these are not happy flashbacks, and Miles’ are of a mission he feels went terribly wrong.Miles Davis is a dedicated brother, son, and now uncle. He’s also dedicated to the group of farmer’s he represents at his company Family Farms. He has an innate sense of right and wrong and for as long as anyone can remember he’s always been a champion of the underdog.Morgan Hamilton left Keeneston right after her high school graduation. Known for being a trouble maker and an outcast she hasn’t returned for 17 years. However, she’s been given the opportunity to help launch a takeover of a company and she’s excited about the possibilities until she finds it’s owned by the boy she had a high school crush on. She soon finds out that time and distance hasn’t made a difference in her feelings and that spells trouble.I’ll admit from the minute Morgan set foot back in Keeneston I wasn’t sure how I felt about her character and it had nothing to do with the way she left town. She just seemed bitchy to me and while I can sympathize with the way she was treated as a young girl, at some point you have to let it go and it’s obvious she’s never done that. That being said, I could also identify with her because she was different and when you don’t conform as a teenager, people treat you badly. I was shocked to find out her sister was the perfect Pam Gilbert…talk about a surreal moment! Morgan grew on me though and I have to admire her strength and convictions. I admire her for not holding back on her feeling for Miles despite them working for opposite sides, she owned up to her feelings even though it was hard for her to do.Miles is one complicated man and boy does he have some serious issues he needs to work through. I admire him for what he’s done but I want to slap him for being so stubborn about getting the help he needs. When Morgan reappears at first he’s somewhat hostile which is to be expected, but I like that he gives her the chance to tell her side of things and he listens. He doesn’t judge and he admits fully that the one moment they shared back in high school affected him way more than he wanted it to. The fact that he decides he wants to date her despite their shared history and the fact that she’s after his company proves that his feelings for her run deep.I enjoyed watching these two navigate through the relationship obstacles especially with the nosey town’s residents and Miles’ family keeping tabs and taking bets. While I could understand Miles questioning Morgan’s involvement in some incidents around town, the fact that he didn’t trust her was evident. I personally am not sure that’s the best way to start a relationship. I do like that Morgan didn’t allow Miles or anyone else push her around, she stood her ground and stood up for herself. When a threat to their safety became very real, so do their feelings for one another.Acquiring Trouble is a great addition to the Bluegrass Brothers series with an emotionally wounded hero, the town’s former bad girl trying to make good, nosey and crazy townsfolk, caring but intrusive relatives, and a corporation up to no good makes for one interesting and exciting story. What’s not to love?

I still love the characters, esp the three elderly sisters! But this one seemed rushed, and lots of grammatical errors.

GREAT STORY!!!This, was a more complex story than the other books in this series. I really enjoyed the couple's interaction!! The story was suspenseful, very sexy and romantic and filled with very intriguing twists and turns that kept you guessing. Each book I read in this series just pulls me in more. I love the updates and how cleverly Kathleen weaves all the characters from the previous Bluegrass books into the story throughout the whole book. I love epilogues and she usually always gives you one. They leave you with a satisfied feeling and smile on your face!!! Give this series a try if you like standalone stories with continuing family support and involvement.... You will be glad you did!!!!! 😊

Family is EverythingI really love how Miles joyfully embraced the new Morgan and made room in his life for her. PTSD has a lot of warriors sidelined and struggling to deal with every day life. Not every one understands the trauma our soldiers go through in combat as well as trying to adjust to life back home. I REALLY LOVE THE GUN COLLECTIONS the Davies family has.Morgan was a survivor and a strong woman who was determined to do the right thing, even if it got her killed. I was happy to see Pam in depth.

This is the fourth book I have read. Have enjoyed them all very much. Clean, funny and feel good books.I received one book free and was hooked after reading it. You know it will end well but there are lots of twist and turns before the " boy gets the girl" feel good ending.

Book # 3 or 6. Everyone dislikes Morgan, or at least they don’t understand her, so why does she come back, and what is Miles going to do about it? This book and the next one, Relentless Pursuit, are my favorites in the series. Why? I don’t really know, they are just the two that struck my fancy the most. Happy reading!!

Aquiring Trouble I guess I'm becoming more and more like a citizen of Keeneston when initially I didn't like Morgan. If Miles can forgive her I guess so can I! Next book please!

Ever had a kiss you cant’t forget? What if the one girl you thought ruined your life meets you in your dreams? This is what happens to Miles Davies in Acquiring Trouble by Kathleen Brooks. This book is the 3rd book in the Bluegrass Brothers Series.Miles Davies is a hard working, former military, businessman. He comes from a long line of Davies who one by one have found their match and fell in love. Seventeen years ago Miles lost the girl of his dreams when Morgan Hamilton kissed him at graduation. Not only does his girlfriend walk in, but Morgan leaves Miles haunted with the feelings of that kiss the the next seventeen years. So what happens when Miles is trying to keep small farms up and running only to find out he is trying to be bought out by Top Produces in Washington, DC. Trouble walks back into Keeneston, KY, and her name is Morgan Hamilton.Eeeekkkk! I loved this book. In fact, I love this series. There is nothing better than a small, southern town where everyone knows everyone… and your business. (I can say that coming from experience!) In the Bluegrass series, you can’t help but feel that you are just another neighbor in Keeneston. In these books I can’t help but see people within my own small town. Every town has the little old ladies that know exactly what’s going on and who it’s going on with, the cafe where everyone meets to eat and gossip, and the police department is like Andy Griffith but way hotter! When I say I feel like I belong in this town, I mean exactly that… I feel like I have know each character my entire life… and who wouldn’t want to know the Davies’ boys? I sure wouldn’t mind! My favorite part of these books is so much going on…. love, danger, small town talk, everyone knows everyone, HOT Davies’ men, and as my Daddy would say…. the good ole country boy gets the girl (just like he should!)These books leave me biting my nails for the next one… I can’t wait to see which Davies’ guy is going to fall in love next… but not only that…. what crazy & dangerous event is going to occur before it happens. Let’s see… we’ve already had horse racing, drugs, dog fighting, and the FBI gone bad… I can only imagine what is going to happen to Pierce Davies! But I’ll make a bet that he’s met his match! Pierce’s story is due to be published by Spring/Summer 2013… and I can’t wait!

I am writing these reviews after having read the whole series so it will be an overall summary. These books are funny, heartwarming, suspenseful with great main characters and terrific minor characters (the Rose Sisters...I mean come on! Who wouldn't love them?!). The setting is awesome...I want to move to this town that knows everything all the time and yet can keep secrets! Each character is well developed and each separate storyline is well crafted. The one storyline that traces back to New York is a bit too drawn out (and unrealistic but hey, it's fiction!) but that's a minor criticism. Get all of these books and read them!! You won't be sorry!!

Another great book in the Bluegrass series. My favorite of the brother is Miles(and Cy), he has been alone for a long time and just suspected he would be like that forever. He had a girlfriend in high school but that was ruined by Morgan Hamilton. Morgan was the town bad girl and when trouble happened Morgan was always behind it. Miles is it at a graduation party and is going to ask his girlfriend to stay and be with him and is waiting for her to show up. Morgan follows Miles into the bedroom and wants to thank him for never being mean to her and also for helping her with school stuff. To thank him she kisses him, and Miles is not expecting it & that he really, really likes the kiss. Miles girlfriend walks in during the kiss and is very upset. Miles says something mean and Morgan runs off.Seventeen years later Morgan has to come back in town on business. The company she works for is trying to buy a company that is owned and ran by Miles. Morgan has changed alot and is not that trouble making girl she used to be and hopes that the town is willing to forgive and forget. Morgan needs to acquire the company, so she is going to see if Miles wants to sell. He does not so she is going to farmers to see they want to go with their company. Crazy stuff starts happening on these farms that she is visiting and of course everyone thinks that bad girl Morgan is behind it all.It is a very funny, heartwarming, and tear jerker story. I loved this book, definately my favorite of the series so far. It made me cry at work while I was reading it.

Out of all my series faves (and there are quite a few!), the Davies and the town of Keeneston is quite likely to be my favorite. I guess it isn't just a family and a few friends that keeps these books going, but literally a whole town. I love 'em all. These books are fantastic and just when you think that there aren't more horse swindlers, drug lords or mob bosses...quiet reserved good ol' boy Miles catches the eye of a nasty old corporate raider. The whole bolt of love between Morgan, the town disgrace, and Miles happens a weeeee bit too quickly (a phone call, a lunch and a dinner at my count), that's ok because it was all started back on the last day of high school. I am a sucker for unrequited love and Brooks' writing style makes even the cheesiest love seem like it is heartfelt. I could read these books forever, so I appreciate the depth of the stories that are weaved around each family member and the town folk. I feel like I know all of the Davies family and the townspeople, all the way down to Dinky and Noodle, so hopefully Brooks just keeps on writing because I'll buy and read every book the day it comes out!!

In the 3rd installment of the Bluegrass Brothers series – Miles finally meets his match as Keeneston’s notorious bad girl, Morgan Hamilton, returns to town with her sights set on taking over Mile’s business! That one kiss on graduation night, that changed his life as his girlfriend walked in so many years ago still has Miles bewitched. What he doesn’t know is that Morgan still has a crush on the sexy Davies brother she has carried with her since high school. Determined to get hr job done = Morgan attempts to get co-op farmers to agree to sell to her big corporation. But as she tries not to acknowledge the attraction she holds for Miles – dastardly “accidents” begin to happen to people who have turned her offers down. Miles must decide if Morgan is innocent or take her down for the horrible happenings going on in Keeneston.Miles, with Morgan’s help, will finally come to terms with what happened to him and his brother while they were deployed and we get an even better glimpse into the mind of this unmistakable hero. Another fantastic read by Kathleen Brooks!

Fabulous story. Few authors capture you with every character in their story. The supporting cast is absolutely thrilling and funny. I love that she stays true to her supporting cast of characters and they make me laugh every time I pick up one of her stories. The depth of Miles back story was a wonderful page Turner for me. She hinted in Rising Storm that the brothers past in the Delta Force affected them more than they realized. But she hadn't explored it and I love that she did with Miles. Morgan I loved as the lead female. Ms. Brooks has given such depth to her female characters each book that you can actually relate to them. And I'm dying for Cy's story. All the hints and ground work has got my imagination going. But I'm excited to see Piece and Tammy's story next. Five books of ground work on that has me intrigued.

I was so excited to finally get into the head of Mile's to see why he is always so mysteries. And you definitely get to see why. Poor Mile's you can see why he is always so protective of his family and friends. I also loved that we finally got to know the full story of how Mile's had saved Cade. Cade brings it up in his story but he was unconcious so he didn't know what happened. But you finally get the whole story through Miles. I was glad that the town finally got to hear what really happened with Morgan and her childhood so she got the foregiveness she deserved. It was also nice that she had Annie on her side. One rebel to another. This was another very enjoyable read to see if Miles and Morgan survived long enough to find the love that has been budding since they were in high school together.

Acquiring Troubleby Kathleen Brooks was book 7, including the Novella Secret Santa, in The Bluegrass Series. I enjoyed the characters, and I enjoyed the story. For what it is, Light Romantic Contemporary Suspense, it was just perfect. Kathleen Brooks' writing style is a joy to read. Her ability to intertwine humour with suspense is wonderful, and her characters come alive in your mind as you read. My frustration was only with the unbelievable aspects of the plot, and at times, it was too cheesy. The storyline is intriguing though, and I know I will be back for the next book!!! Will it be Cy or Pierce?? I truly don't mind which, although the snarky in me feels that Pierce should have to wait longer for his HEA!! LOL

DNFHow is this author a NYT and USA Today bestselling author???? I am utterly shocked at how poorly written and simplistic this book was. It was crude with no buildup or lead in any scenes. The dialogue was horrendous and the characters non memorable and pathetic. I could care less about the farm business and acquisition. The southern slang was horrible and distracting. The plot was so completely boring with mundane details. Morgan was annoying and Miles was a complete jerk and wimp. Just stay far, far away from this book. I am so sorry I even gave this book a chance since it was a huge waste of time and money.

Well what can I say? Kathleen Brooks really knows how to write a great book! I only have Relentless Pursuit left I hope she will have the next book in a couple of months I really don't know what I will read next. I do know it will be a let down. It will take me a long time to find another author that writes just half as well. Thank you Kathleen for doing a great job with this series! And Please keep writing the books from this series. I would love to read about all the great people from Keeneston, Kentucky.

Continue my revision. This time is Miles n Morgan, it's the sadness one, after years, I still cry for Morgan. Her life wasn't easy especially when u knew that u r unwanted. Left home when she was 18, a girl living alone wasn't easy, she is strong. Miles always the protective one, his PTSD is killing him but he is too strong to defense the attack. When it come to the last moment, luckily he has Cade, Bill n Morgan, it won't heal because the scare was there but love is the best medicine, to love n be loved it the only way to deal with the emotion problem.Today is June 25, midnight.

Although the town in unrealistic (FBI agent, DEA agent, foreign royalty all living in the same small town lol?), I really love this series (and the Bluegrass Series). All the characters are well-written and I like that they appear in all the books. The best part is seeing all these macho men fall hard :)The women Ms. Brooks writes tend to be strong, confident and smart, as well as pretty. The antics of the townspeople make me laugh (the Rose sisters especially!). This book is yet another great addition to the Keeneston love stories.

Looking forward to reading Spencer's story but REALLY can't wait for Cy's story (or Ahmed's) those two I have a feeling are going to be my faves by far!! Kathleen you have such a great talent. Thanks for sharing it with us. Go have some special tea and enjoy your success!!!!

This is my favorite from the series because it fits the saying of don't judge a book by it's cover~ Morgan has many layers and facets to her life that have made her the woman she is. Without the suffering and challenges she faced in her past she would not be the woman Miles comes to respect and love. There were twists and turns to the story plot that kept me captivated and interested from cover to cover!

What a romantic read. I loved that Miles had never forgotten Morgan from that one kiss at high school. It was good to see the bad guys get what they deserved and Miles taken out the bad men before they could get to Morgan. (He was one tough guy and very hot) I also love how tough Morgan is and how she doesn't let Miles intimidate her. The proposal was very romantic bringing them back to where it all began. I love the Davies brothers and look forward to reading the next in the series.

This is Miles story. Morgan is the one that got away. Only she is back. She is trying to acquire Miles company. Only things start happening. Animals being poisoned. She becomes a suspect but Miles tells Marshall she passed the test. Miles is a human lie detector. Morgan tries to get the goods on her boss but he is trying to set her up. She can only rely on Miles now. He does not fail her. Love this whole series.

Another fantastic book from Kathleen Brooks. I can't get enough of this series and the characters. You just immediately fall in love with every single person in that little town. This books made me cry happy tears again. One of my favorite scenes is the brothers on their horses trying to save the cattle from the fire. Great action and I could picture the whole scene in my mine.I definitely recommend both of Brooks' series.

DEFINITELY my favourite thus far. Miles' story made me cry into more tissues than I care to recollect. Brooks' attention to detail and the sensitive manner in which she dealt with this really serious and tragic state of affairs made me like the book even more. Many authors have tried to write about the horrors of war and subsequent PTSD but many failed to do what Brooks managed here. I guess Sy and Ahmed are the other two who will make me cry...can't wait to find out

These Davies boy are YUMMY!! Miles has such darkness hidden but is a wonderful brother and man. His heart is kind and he is honest and loyal. Morgan was all kinds of trouble growing up and finds herself back in her hometown to take down the company of the man she loved in high school. Their paths cross and their lives change. Loved the action in this book. Can't wit to read about Pierce and this mysterious Tammy.
