I do enjoy all of Kathleen Brook's books, however they tend to have a few major flaws that I feel need to be pointed out in all honesty. The plots are often incredibly far fetched (from dog fighting rings to mass murder conspiracies, I've never seen so much center around one small town - and I've lived in several!). Some of the date were wrong (she mentioned Keenland Yearling Sales but had the wrong dates). And worst, typos, misspellings, and error abound. This is probably the most frustrating part, and initially I thought perhaps it was an error when the book was converted to an ebook, but after reading numerous stories, I found that it was JUST Kathleen Brook's books with this many glaring errors.I love the characters, the town, and didn't even mind the far fetched story because I found it fun and enjoyable. I just wish that the books didn't feel so rushed-to-published with all the errors and oversights. I will read the entire series, and any of the Bluegrass books for that matter, whenever new ones come out because I do enjoy them. Just know that if errors and typos irk you, then these books will frustrate you to no end. If you like this kind of book but want to avoid the errors, The Lone Star Cowboy series starting with Blame It On Texas, by Tori Scott is a similar read with a more plausible story and typo free!

Rising Stormby Kathleen Brooks, was once again, a book I really wanted to love. I have adored the characters in this series. They have been funny, loveable, and gutsy - especially the heroines. If you enjoy cute, predictable books, you will love this series. Katelyn and Marshall were fun to read. Especially reading normally unflappable Marshall caught with his pants down. Good times!I just started to find a few unbelievable bumps that caused distraction. The quick healing from what could be fatal gunshot wounds, the speed in which characters 'fell in love' and the sweet, sweet HEA's. I need stronger tension and more believable storylines to keep me engrossed. However, do not discount reading this series. Deep and important issues are given air time, with clever handling, dashes of humour and compelling resolutions. The comedic, ever-knowing, warm, "I want them for myself" Rose sisters have completely won me over. The Davies' family all, are incredible characters, and I can't wait to read about Cy!! Wowser! Bring his story on!!!

I enjoyed the read and the love story, and also liked that the frisky business was kept behind the scenes, and not flaunted like you see in so many books today. Not the best book I'd ever read, but entertaining, and the premise was something new to me.

Kathleen Brooks is amazing! These Bluegrass books just get better and better. The Davies brothers are all top of the line maleness. Handsome, ex military muscle, brains, and good looks. This book introduces Marshall, the new Sheriff of Keeneston and the most eligible bachelor in town- officially named so by the local newspaper.Katelyn Jacks is a former model from New York City who returns to Keeneston to open her own veterinary clinic. But how is she going to get the town to take her seriously when the town sheriff thinks of her as a rich ice princess?Who new that quaint, quiet small town Keeneston, KY would be invaded by the ugly world of drugs, weapons deals, and dog fighting? What happens between Katelyn and Marshall while facing the danger of this underworld is full of surprises. Brooks brings in humor, danger, romance and the Southern traditions of a small town. Great reading, each book you read makes you long for the next one.

GREAT STORY !!!!!I really enjoyed this book...... I felt It was one of the best in the series so far! I laughed and laughed.... The humor was so good..... Some laugh out loud moments. ...and some more subtle funny parts...... but all entertaining and heartwarming! Love all the characters featured in theses books..... They are like friends whom you cant wait to see what they get up to and what comes next! Having the couple updates is wonderful also. This is a really lovely, sexy, romantic, absorbing love story. The suspense holds your attention and there are surprises that enhance the story! Loved that there was an epilogue...... The ending was great and I am so glad it was added! Thanks to Kathleen for writing such an entertaining book!!!!

Book # 2 or 5. I love this entire series, but this is the one that made me want to cry the most, so far. Who knew people could be so cruel? Do Marshall and Katelyn have a chance, especially after their rocky start?.?. Happy reading!!

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews4.5 StarsI swear these books just keep getting better and better, with each one I read I wonder if this will be the one that lets me down but, Rising Storm by Kathleen Brooks is an awesome read and has no chance of letting me or anyone else down!Katelyn Jacks moved to Keeneston, Kentucky to be close to her grandparents and to open a veterinarian clinic. She’s a hotel heiress who refuses to have anything to do with her father’s lavish lifestyle, an ex-model, and a caring veterinarian who’d like to be known for her doctoring skills and nothing more. Unfortunately Keeneston is a small town and the rumor mill abounds plus it seems Sherriff Marshall Davies has it in for her.Marshall Davies is happy to be back home full time and working at sheriff. After a stint in the military and owning a successful private security business he enjoys his work but hates dodging the Belles (a group of former debutantes who’d like nothing more than to marry any of the Davies brothers). He’s considerate, kind, and willing to help everyone in town with the exception of Katelyn. For some unknown reason he never has anything nice to say to or about her at all.Katelyn and Marshall have a liason following his brother’s wedding. Katelyn slips out and has been avoiding him for months. When dogs start turning up badly hurt, Katelyn and Marshall must work together to end the cruelty and find those responsible.Other than the fact that Katelyn hides from Marshall, I really love her character. She’s smart, calm under pressure, and she’s caring. Despite coming from money, despite being an ex-model she really is down to earth and that makes her even more endearing. She’s human though and she just can’t seem to get past her childhood crush on Marshall or the way she gives in when he’s around. She’s tried, she’s dated other men including the mysterious Ahmed but unfortunately nothing works. Seems she wants Marshall; heart, body, and soul. There were times I wanted to bop Marshall upside the head for being a world class jerk. He’s smooth at whiskey to everyone else but he treats Katelyn so horribly at times. We find out that he has some pretty preconceived and untrue notions about Katelyn but that doesn’t really excuse his behavior in my book. I will say that as time went on, he grew on me and he does manage to redeem himself but damn I wanted to “bitch slap” him across the room a few times! As will all of Kathleen’s books we get to see the crazy but loveable town folks as well as check in with the couples from the previous Bluegrass books. I just love when authors manage to do this and in this book, it’s done well on several occasions. I also adored Katelyn’s grandparents, they were simply hilarious and I found myself laughing out loud at some of the outrageous things they did.In addition to a crazy mixed-up love/hate romance, this book also deals with the horrible “sport” of dog fighting and all the other crimes that come along with it. I know this doesn’t sound like something you would want to deal with in a romance book but I think that’s why I’ve enjoyed this series so much. I love when authors manage to mix in “real life” issues without sacrificing the romance. Rising Storm is an excellent example of what I’ve begun to call conscientious romance. These are romance novels that make you think but still satisfy the readers need for a happily ever after!

The author uses pronouns a bit too often. If there are two or more people of the same sex during a scene, it's difficult to tell who is talking or doing something b/c she uses pronouns to describe what's happening. If it was just once in awhile it wouldn't be too bad, but there were too many instances where the person's name should have been used instead of a pronoun, so it really irritated me, taking away the enjoyment of the story. Also, some scenes just segue into another scene with no warning, causing a bit of confusion as to what's going on.I think the writing was just so-so. I'm not continuing this series.

The story was great. The premise original! Had GREAT POTENTIAL but flopped! One facet was very flawed & I couldn't get past it!Keep in mind that I read over 200 books a year, so I'm thinking of all the others when I say this…Even though this was a clean/non descriptive romance… It could still have been perfect! However!!! The way the author touched on the sex/one night stands was lacking steps! Fell off a cliff! Non descriptive! One minute she's drinking & the next she's naked in someone's bed??? Soo, was she drugged? Can she not remember a thing? What happened? Is she embarrassed because her memory is a total blank? It never says! She just totally avoids him because of the embarrassment. But then it happens again, so I am now wondering what the heck happened? Do the old women spike her tea? I don't know! SERIOUSLY, it goes from Katelyn being driven home by Marshall to her house to waking up naked together! His house first, hers next!! AND her eyes are crusty & she has a cotton mouth? This is one of those books you have to assume… BUT what am I supposed to assume? I was so confused 3/4 of the way in… I just put this in a clean romance category & jumped to solving the crime. It would have been a 5 star rating if I hadn't had to suffer the blackouts a drunk would along with Katelyn. I have to know how I got from point a to b. Did he drive to his house kiss her, carry her in??? I dunno! Once he was giving her a ride & she got in the car & woke up naked in his bed. Next, he asked if she was ready to go & she said yes, him waking up in her bed. HUH?AND on top of that, there were limited, HAZY at best, flashbacks. A POSITIVE!!! My favorite lines are in this book!! "Southerners had there own brand of justice and he (the sheriff) needed to make sure they remembered he was the law and he'd make sure this man, or men got what they deserved""He better call Nugget (the sheriff in the next county) and start combing the area or he'd have residents out looking with their pitchforks."It's very descriptive of a southern mind set & is completely funny sometimes!I was sad after this was over because I felt like a lot was missing in the relationship department. I was not looking for any description of the sex scenes, because obviously this was a clean book, but I wanted to know how they arrived at point B from A. That's it!

I am writing these reviews after having read the whole series so it will be an overall summary. These books are funny, heartwarming, suspenseful with great main characters and terrific minor characters (the Rose Sisters...I mean come on! Who wouldn't love them?!). The setting is awesome...I want to move to this town that knows everything all the time and yet can keep secrets! Each character is well developed and each separate storyline is well crafted. The one storyline that traces back to New York is a bit too drawn out (and unrealistic but hey, it's fiction!) but that's a minor criticism. Get all of these books and read them!! You won't be sorry!!

I m wondering why I didn't put down my reviews, in fact, I did think I did it. Anyway, here is my think when I revisited the series again in June 2017.When the girls r completed, I move on to the boys, Cade then Marshall. I don't think it's good when I read this time but here is something that caught my mind. Mrs Wyatt always catch Marshall in naked, Mrs Wyatt enjoy white face with red lip, I thought about Japanese lady. It's seems that rose sisters are not much active in the books but Ahmed was. It's really sad when he tried to dating K but there are no spark n he just said that he might did som many bad things that no love around him, it's sad especially when u knew about his story in later. I love him so much, he afraid Bob, LoL, can't get the love he has, however, he did have friends, the men but the most r the girls, Kenna, Dani then K, it the later Tammy too.I also found out something annoying that Brooks missed something, she told us Noddle is middle age man in Kenna's book but when he shot in this books, he became much more younger because he was paired with the Doctor whom taken some role in the later. Mrs Wyatt is a lady in her 80s, but we knew that when The daughter of Marshall growth up n found the treasure of the family later, the man she choose to be her grand-grand daughter in law, Mrs Wyatt was in her 11x. I guess nobody care about it but me did.

Cruelty to animals is something which drives me insane with rage. That this novel has tracking down and defeating dog-fighting as its main plot is refreshing and long needed. The main characters are lively and engaging - I liked that the heroine is a vet - and of course the sexy sheriff is traditional of this genre. There is some sadness in the story, but this is over-set by the triumphant ending. One aspect of the book made me irritable and this was the townsfolk and grandparents' penchant for sticking their noses into the romance between Katelyn and Marshall. Granny and grandad couldn't keep their mouths shut for a moment, interfered and butted in wherever they could, including holding a gun on Marshall and spreading the main protagonists private business all over town. That wasn't "cosy" or funny in any way, IMO.However, no author worth her salt is going to allow the ending not to work out, so although I wanted to slap them out, I was reasonably sure things would finish satisfactorily.***

I LOVED this book! I have been waiting for Katelyn and Marshall’s book since we first met her in Dead Heat and Marshall quickly stepped in it. I don’t usually enjoy the enemies to lovers theme in books but Kathleen handles it very well. Their animosity is not based in reality but in misconception which I find more believable than people with truly deep differences who suddenly decide to be in love. Mr. & Mrs. Wyatt were fabulous too. I knew I would like Ruth Wyatt when we met her in Dead Heat and I was right! Her interactions with Marshall when he is in her home are some of my favorite scenes in this book, several of which had me laughing so hard my husband stopped what he was doing to ask me what was so funny. I say again this was a fabulous book and I would recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the other Bluegrass books and if you haven’t read them yet I bet if you read this one you won’t be able to resist going back and getting the rest…though I think the same would be true if you started at the beginning with Bluegrass State of Mind.

I loved this book! Kathleen Brooks has done it again. I enjoyed learning more about Marshall and getting to meet Katelyn. It was wonderful to read about all the familiar characters in Keenestown. I always laugh at what the Rose sisters are up to! I also liked getting to hear more about Ahmed, I hope we get to hear his story someday. I look forward to the stories for Miles, Pierce, and Cy. I wondered about who would compliment Marshall after what had been written about him in the other books and I was happy to see Katelyn is a good balance. She is sweet but can be very strong when it's required. I hope to see updates on them in the books in the future. As an animal lover I wasn't sure if I could take reading about the dogs but the story is handled well. I would recommend this book to all my reading friends.

This book seemed a little rushed to me in the end. I really liked it in the beginning. Was loving the interaction between Katelyn and Marshall, but then their relationship seemed to rush forward without me really feeling that it had time to develop. The storyline about the dog-fighting seems to be the center of the story, while their relationship isn't given the time it deserves. Don't get me wrong, I do think that Katelyn and Marshall are a great couple, just wish more time had been devoted to them. I have read the Bluegrass Series and the first book in the Bluegrass Brothers series and loved them. I would rather read a longer book than have one cut short to keep the number of pages down.

I have loved and really enjoyed all Kathleen Brooks Books but i have to say i think this book is my favouite, I loved that both Marshell and Katelyn disliked each other but there was also a connection that they couldn't explain, but with the help of special ice tea on more than on occasion they ended up waking up together, they both fight their feelings for each other while getting court up in a dog fighting ring, Marshell being town sheiff is trying to get to the bottom of the ring and find the leaders, every time Marshell and Katelyn try to talk about their feeling either something happens or someone turns up, will they ever declare their undieing love for each other.i so can't wait to read more of Kathleen Brooks Books

Wow another great story from Kathleen Brooks. This is the second book in the Bluegrass Brothers series where Marshall and Katelyn tackle the subject of organised dog fighting. There were times in the book that made me sad especially when it came to the dogs and how they discarded them after the fighting. There were a few hilarious moments with Bob. What a clever dog, his personality suit Marshall very well. It was good to see all the town come together to put an end to this horrible act. It took Marshall until the end of the book to finally tell Katelyn how he felt but it was good to see how they got there. I loved the Rose sisters and there famous ice tea that Katelyn found to like and put her in Marshall's arms. I look forward to the rest of the books in the series.

I have read all of these books and have really loved them all. They are very sweet stories with a good bit of suspense. I love the small town atmosphere which seems to add some humor to the stories. I especially loved the Wyatts! There were adorable. My only complaint with this one was I would like to have seen even more interaction between Marshall and Kaitlyn. I felt like too much of the time was spent with them having silly misunderstandings. Call me a romantic. Now I am very anxious to read about Miles in the next story and to find out what is going on with him. Also, I really wish the author would devote a book to Ahmed and him finding the love of his life.

I really enjoy this contemporary romance series. The Davies family of Keeneland, Kentucky, are not your average next door family. The grown chiildren are involved in either the military or law in some sort of fashion. When model turned vet Katelynn opened her practice here, she didn't realuze where her attraction to the sheriff Marshall Davies would lead. And too, how they would be instrumental in exposing a dog fighting ring. The world if doggfighting. As I learned from the story, it is very much under the radar found in the mist obscure locations and one of the most vicious operations because of the money made from it and its side businesses.

Coming home again to Keeneston! Definately a must read in Kathleen Brooks' Bluegrass series!! Marshall Davies is now the sherriff - and he just cannot help himself from picking on former model now vet Katelyn Jacks. Could Marshall have a bit more competition then he can handle asKatelyn and Ahmed get closer while she tends to a dog brutally mauledand used in an international dog-fighting ring? I think this is the best yet in the Bluegrass series! I absolutely loved this book! I chuckled outloud well into the early hours of the morning as I devoured this lastest installment. Poor Marshall LOL!!!

This is Kathleen Brooks fifth book in the Bluegrass series and she did a fantastic job. Marshall Davies is the next to fall out of the race as eligible bachelor in Keeneston. Katelyn Jacks is just the woman to take him down. Marshall recently became the sheriff of the town. Kate is the new vet in town. Keeneston becomes a hot spot for dog fighting once it's brought to the attention of Kate after fixing up a dog that Ahmed found on Mo's property. The drama and action takes off from there. We get to see a softer side of Ahmed and see Marshall jealous. It was a great story and I'm looking forward to Miles' story.

I like Brooks' writing. It is easy to read and have great characters. The love/hate relationship here is amusing and the inherent threat of physical harm from the outside will keep you on the edge of your seat till the end.Marshall is such a darling and Ahmed's kind heart makes me wish he finds love and redemption. Brooks has also laid the foundation for the next book by weaving hints into this story. What I really liked about the ending was the way we were kept in suspense till the very end before revealing the identity of the 'inside' influence. I was surprised by their identity.I can't wait for the next book.

This one is the best one I've read so far. The dialogue is still the cheesiest I've ever read, the villains are a bit to predictable and if you really compare the cases and incidents in the books with what would happen in reality they're extremely lacking. But once you resign yourself to those facts the series is enjoyable.

I'm really enjoying this series! And I'm love how involved the people in this town involve themselves in everything that is happening. There were many times where I wanted to smack Marshal to get his crap together but when he does it's so adorable. I loved that Katelyn didn't pine after him that she really held her ground and didn't take him being a jerk to her. It was also fun seeing Ahmed getting into the dating world, even though it was with Katelyn, it was fun to see him starting to get more interested in the dating world. Cannot wait to read the next one! What is mysterious Mile's up to?

I have been anxiously waiting for the release of Rising Storm and bought it for my Kindle the moment I realized it was available! It was fantastic, just as all of Kathleen's books are. The suspense and action that are worked into the romance is addicting and all encompassing. I literally couldn't but it down! Who knew that's little, quaint Keenston could be such a dangerous and exciting place to live? Five stars, all the way. Seperb writing, Kathleen! I cant wait for the next one.

But It was super tastefully done.. only really felt uneasy once while reading but the story was amazing as usual! This author is awesome and cant wait to hear the rest of the books she comes out with! I do hope that Ahmed is the eye of one of them I love him!
