I well-written novella that features Hawke Cooper as hero, a hawk shifter who was introduced in the first book in this series and a man of principle and honor. He had thought he was in love with his best friend's mate, but has now realized that his attraction to a human indicates that he is yet to find his true mate. Stephanie has lost her eyesight due to glass shards embedded in her corneas during an auto accident. Her daughter is an heiress, in danger because of her trust funds, and now being sought by her dead father's less-than-honorable family members. Stephanie is drawn to Hawke yet is worried for her daughter's safety and must put that first. Hawke is afraid to tell her about his shifter/animial half as well as his wealth--Stephanie is one of those kind of people who is not impressed with wealth and doesn't even like to use funds from her daughter's inheritance to support them. It is a beautiful love story about the expansion of a human woman's awareness of life and those who live it in another kind of way.

I can only say that it was "ok", because the heroine could really be silly at times and for her daughter to be so important we didn't see any interaction between her and our hero. I really liked the idea and base of this story, it just needed a little more when it came to its execution.
